Descent American Mexican food. Trimmed down the menus since Covid. Great chips and Salsa.

I usually don't write reviews until service has been completed but had to make an exception this time, and not for positive reasons. First, the food is great. Second, the waiters are excellent... that's all good. Unfortunately, your first experience is a very unfriendly reception from a hostess with a very bad attitude. If i hadn't been here before and experienced the two positive items mentioned in advance we may have walked out. COVID/ no COVID, people with negative work attitudes need to seek other employment if they are unhappy with their current situation. This is a large restaurant with a Latin flair. It is clean and well maintained. The staff was very cordial and pleasant. The wait person was very attentive and efficient. Unfortunately, I found the food rather bland . I had cheese enchiladas which is the standard I use for testing Tex-Mex restaurants. The chips were very thin and crispy but the salsa, like the other food, was lacking in zest. I wanted to like this place because it is very convenient to my home but there are better Tex-Mex restaurants within easy driving range. read more

It had been a while since we had visited uncle Julio's and we were really looking forward to it. I feel like things have changed so much we were packed in the restaurant like sardines the way they set up our table with an isle that funneled everyone through us to get to the restrooms and due to the closeness between tables had us moving up and down constantly letting people pass. we did have a party of 12 people for a birthday but we did make a reservation in advance so they were aware. Probably not a good idea for large parties. I will say that the food was good and our waitress was excellent. read more

We love this place and every location we've been to in the DFW area. Delicious, crispy chips, salsa with just enough kick, and queso that makes you fall in love with cheese over and over again. The michelada is a bit spicy but not so much that your hangover revolts and gives you heartburn. It tames the beast so you can move forward with your day. The brunch menu is extensive, but you can also order from the lunch/dinner menu if you aren't feeling eggy. If you don't like onions, ask them to hold them on your cheese enchilada stack with a perfectly cooked over medium egg because the onions are in big chunks. You can also order a habanero salsa if you want to set your face on fire. read more

Great service. Spicy shrimp fajitas didn't totally agree with me. Margaritas were full price but very small. Appetizers were the best part of the meal. Order a few as your meal and leave happy! read more

Nice atmosphere. Great for large groups. Service is friendly and efficient. Chips, table side guacamole and cheese nachos is a must to go with your margarita. The food is probably the low light of my experience. Coming from So Cal we have our share of great Mexican restaurants. Uncle Julio's would just be ok compared to the LA Mexican standard. The food lacked flavoring and seasoning. They definitely tailored the meals for the gringo palette and shied away from authenticity. If you're ok with so so Mexican food this is the place for you. read more

Food: the table side guacamole is delicious! It is made right next to your table in a fun pig mortar bowl (it's super heavy). The shrimp fajitas were also good and came with a lot of food, we shared them between 2 of us and a baby. Price: the downside I thought was the price. Guacamole was $11-12 just for that plus the entree which was $20 and that was on the cheaper side for one person meals. Parking: lots of room when we pulled up and there were plenty of seats. Service: overall was pretty good but we didn't get checked on often and had to ask for everything we needed like napkins, water, etc. The food is great, just be prepared to speak up and pay the price for the tastiness. read more

Staff wearing masks and gloves, thank you so much! Great food and service. We sat outside and they have overhead fans to keep customers cool while eating. They are practicing social distancing. We will definitely be returning to this Uncle Julio's. Thank you Uncle Julio's for taking the pandemic seriously and offering a safe environment for customers. I got chips and queso and quac. The guac could use more lime and more salt. And the queso was bland. It needed more heat. But besides that it was a pretty decent visit. read more

Tried to tell the waiter we wanted the beef and chicken cooked well done. Food arrived and the meat was red, chicken was not done and pink. Asked the waiter to please have it cooked well done, brought it back to the table in the same condition. Spoke to the manager and he didn't even apologize. Won't be back, won't recommend. Go to use fork for meal and visible to eyes petrified food cemented to silverware Definitely a Health Violation for not properly washing and sanitizing I walk to hostess desk ask to speak to Manager on duty he arrives and I explain my requests were neglected and Also show him the dirty silverware.. He returns with my beans and grilled jalipino both are room temputure and walks away.. I won't be coming back to this location. Don't get me wrong I love the food, but I had a bad experience with the manager. Super unprofessional, I switched my purse and left my driver license at home . I asked for a mango margarita and she refused to sell it to me because I didn't have my DL . So I showed her a picture that I had on my phone and she was being very SARCASTIC !!! I'm a manger at a retail store. And I always give a good customer service, I want my customers to come back . Hands down the best Mexican food I've ever had . Aside from the food which was phenomenal to begin with, our server Lucas was AMAZING ! We had a table of 8 and it was national margarita day however Lucas was attentive and made sure that everyone was taken care of all night . His level of service was exceptional and with a baby on the way , there is no doubt that Lucas is a hard worker. I can honestly say he was the best server I've had in a long, long time . The food at Uncle Julio's was out.of.this.world ! The Guadalajara platter is to die for and the El Jefe margaritas are addictive ! All around a great experience and amazing level of service thanks to Lucas made this visit one to remember. read more

Service was meh, saw our server on the floor a lot, but hardly came to our table. Had to ask other people for things we needed. Salsa was warm, which was weird, and had no flavor. The guy who did our tableside guacamole was not friendly at all. Manager came out 25 minutes after we placed our order to question mine, then it was another 15 minutes before our food came out. Mine was cold and the fajitas weren't sizzling. I would be willing to give it another shot because a lot of the items on the menu sound delicious. AWESOME!!My husband has celiac, and is also allergic to dairy, eggs and soy. He told the bartender (Steven) when we ordered and he replied, it may take a little bit longer but no problem. When our food came out, Chef Sean personally brought it out and assured my husband it was celiac, dairy, soy, egg free. Folks, service doesn't get better than this. And that's just the service... the food was phenomenal!!! You will NOT be disappointed. Met the manager Lenny who greeted us with a big smile and thanked us for coming on the way out. Love it, been a fan for several years now. Food is great, I am a Jalisco fan, handsome likes the enchilada trio. We eat in when we can as I love ALL the frozen margarita flavors. This is also a good place to order take out, without compromising on the quality. I really love the recent points program. We have taken advantage of several freebies which is always exciting. My Food was just okay and the service was bad. We ordered drinks and didn't get them until 20 minutes later. The waiter also was just not very friendly. However my boyfriend got the steak fajitas and loved the steak and said it was super tender. I got chicken enchiladas and they were average with dry rice on the side. Wow, this place has really gone down hill. Went in as a family for my sons birthday. I ordered beef fajItas for two, beef came out with no tortillas Took almost 10 minutes for tortilas and manager bAsically yelled as us for expecting them to come out at the same time. On top of that meat was cold since we had to wait so asked for it to wArmed. Manager brought out more beef but it was literally raw, still blue on the inside. He argued with me told me it was medium rare. He reluctantly took it back then cooked it well done. The whole time the manager had a serious attitude. I've been here a few times now, and honestly, after coming from California, where Mexican food is clearly better than Texas (controversial statement, I know), I'm not super impressed. It's not bad food, don't get me wrong, just nothing super amazing. It's pretty consistent and a-ok, and if that's what you're looking for, you'll get it every single time. They have a decent amount of food for vegetarians. I usually end up getting the quesadillas or the veggie fajitas. That being said, I'm a fan of their drinks for sure! their skinny margs, spicy margs, and classic margs are all good and they have a pretty good wine selection. I come here more than I would because it's a good family restaurant. They can accommodate large groups pretty easily and have something for everyone. read more

I have been going to this uncle julios (north dallas on tollway) since the day it opened. It used to be my favorite goto place. Unfortunately since five years ago the food quality has consistently been going down. Last time I was there, the expensive beef fajita was so tough and tasted like leather. The manager insisted on bringing us a second platter and that was just as horrible as the first. When the bill came in, they charged me for the second one as well!!!! I am so disappointed in uncle julios. The lack of MGMT attention to food quality and constant cheapening of value should reverse if they hope to stay in business. Late afternoon lunch stared with som Guac in the bar while waiting. Fresh and flavorful. YUM! Drinks were nice and strong. Two house Rita's did the required job for me. The Guadalajara fajitas were pretty good Soft tacos good. The chicken tortilla soup wasn't good it's more like chili, not brothy. No one inquired why 80% of it wasn't consumed The dessert piñata is a lot of fun. No birthday celebration was offered. The margarita was hood, but the prices are pretty jacked up$ 8.99 and on up to $15. The bonus was that by getting signed ip for the club the guacamole was free. We came in today at 9pm, and unfortunately the service was not there. We were sat quickly and the hostess was nice enough to start us off with chips. From there we just had servers cross us and no one attend us.. there were plenty of empty tables, so we left. Hope that is something the restaurant can work on. read more

I love this place. Food is always fresh and good. Staff is helpful and attentive. Except when I ran out of ice tea. But they got it when I asked. Queso was so good and so was the guacamole .... menu is motified. And they don't have chicken Tamales ... which are my favorite. read more

I've always been a fan but after living on the West Coast for 20 years, I'm falling in love all over again. Uncle Julio's margarita swirls are a must! The way to my heart is chips 'n salsa and Uncle Julio's does it right: thin and crisp non-greasy fresh made chips plus salsa with a kick. Completely addictive! Excellent chicken quesadillas (I crave those bad boys!) and their mole is superb. My favorite: Sunday brunch with steak breakfast tacos. Tender pieces of steak... eggs... cheese... homemade tortillas. My mouth is seriously watering! read more
