Amazing drinks, awesome salsa, and fantastic service!!! The atmosphere is really cool. Reminds me of being in Mexico!

Once again the service has failed us. Sat at the bar to eat- the manager took our drink order, gave us chips, and hot sauce. then no one else came to take our order or ask if we wanted another drink. We were there for 1 hour. Will never be back again. The drinks were mediocre at best. $30 for terrible service and no food. Left hungry and unhappy. Don't waste your time here. read more

I ordered fajitas, the meat was great, rice and black beans were good. They were stingy with the tortillas, only 2 came with my meal so I was disappointed. The drinks were watered down and full of ice that doesn't encourage one to buy more, not dying to go back there. read more

Went to dinner here Saturday night after it finally opened. They had just opened that Weds so it was a bit of a crazy time for them working out the kinks. My wife and I didn't mind. Found a spot at the bar since the wait for a table was running at least 1 hour. The staff were friendly. Bartender was super nice as well. Just enjoyed our cocktails and people watching. We had the Cadillac and margaritas swirl. I liked the Cadillac, but my wife said the swirl was just ok. The restaurant looked really nice and they were so busy they had 2-3 bartenders just running and making drinks for the tables. The chips and two kind of salsa were delicious. We decided to order the Jalisco fajita trio. It came with shrimp, beef fajita and chicken fajitas for $31. I will say we were a bit surprised that at $31 dish came out to 3 small shrimp, 3 slices of chicken and 3 slices of beef fajitas. Hahahahaha! I know there is inflation, but seriously that was very disappointing and amusing at the same time. I think management needs to reconsider a bit more food. On a side note, they don't give you rice and borracho beans unless you request this in advance (it does state this on the menu) so we did request. Borracho beans were good, but just a small scoop of Mexican rice. I'm giving this place 4 stars because they were really nice and the place is so convenient to our house. But honestly, you get more bang for your buck at Mi Cocina or La Hacienda Ranch down the street for Tex-Mex. If they change up the portion size a bit, this will be a nice gem in the neighborhood! read more

The food is excellent. We've had multiple meals from the chain, and it never disappoints. They just opened last weekend here in Frisco. The queso blanco is good. It says it's spicy, but it isn't. The chicken tortilla soup is delicious, and so are the fajitas. The vibe makes me think of being at a nice Mexican resort. They have a main dining room, but also a large bar room with upbeat music playing. They haveca provate closed off dinning area for provate parties for a medium to large party. They serve two types of salsa: one is smokey, the other is regular. Bothe are yummy. "The" margarita is the on the rocks margarita and has a good base mix and freshness about it. They have food items and drinks on sale for Happy Hour M-F 3-6pm. Good prices. The service has been great. read more

Unfortunately, our recent visits have been disappointing due to inconsistent food quality. Most notably, the new salsa recipe is a letdown - it's now watery and tasteless! Uncle Julio's is always one of my favorites. The pineapple infused marinade for the carnie asada is nothing short of amazing. The pechuga de pollo is always a treat. I never can eat both but I always order both and have plenty to go. There are 2 kinds of queso, and I usually prefer the yellow old school version but the white cheese version also has good flavor. Guacamole is always amazing as well. I could eat that stuff with a spoon. The only down side of my last visit was the AC was not working so well so it was a little toasty. read more

Excited to have Uncle Julio's in Frisco! I came here for a family dinner this evening and we really enjoyed our meal. To drink, I had a watermelon margarita (see attached). For the meal, I had the honey chipotle salmon (very delicious), and the rest of the party had chicken fajitas. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Gosh I really wanted to be able to write a review that was glowing considering UJ was once a staple and in my rotation of frequent spots I would rotate eating out. I stopped going around June of 2024 when I noticed the quality of food was considerably decreasing. I heard they were having Bogo this week for fajitas so I invited a friend out after some intense games of pickleball. The bartender seemed less than happy to serve us. She was very pretty but attitude was a zero. I ordered the Guadalajara times two and then mentioned it was a lot of food and I mentioned I wanted to take advantage of the BOGO. She never mentioned it didn't count for the BOGO. My friend ordered the skirt steak and then she rang in the order. Immediately my friend changed her mind and asked to have the half chicken half steak. Bartender said it was too late and she wasn't going to go to the kitchen to have it changed. I have never told a guest something like that EVER!!!!! She clearly does not enjoy her job and it's too bad because I'm in the industry and have known to be a great tipper. I tipped 20 percent still because I am in the industry but I normally tip up to 50 percent based on great service. For a Wednesday night she seemed bothered and not a great representative for this beautiful establishment. If I return I will not sit at the bar that's for sure. read more

The manager went above and beyond to help make sure the food was gluten free for our gluten sensitive kiddos! They cooked the fries separate and went over the entire menu and let us customize the meal how we wanted. The chips and queso are gluten free as well which is amazing! 5/5 stars we will be back again. They checked on us multiple times to make sure it was how we wanted it --truly making it a wonderful experience for our family. Have such fond memories of Uncle Julio's on Lemmon Ave and Allen locations and sooo looked forward to the new Frisco Uncle Julio's location. Yayyy new Frisco location is wonderful service, fantastic food and great drinks. We ordered the Taco Tuesday $12 person, a great concept of a lazy Susan with Chicken or Beef or Pork as the main protein per person with taco toppings placed around the protein in the lazy Susan. You can get top ups of the toppings and tortillas included in the price. Great Happy Hours drinks from 3pm to 6pm Monday to Friday. Shout out to Kyle the manager, and Abby a solid, professional waitress with a great personality. Very well run place. With trendy lighting, ambience, big u-shaped bar, good number of booths and lots of lots of waiters / servers actively cleaning, checking on customers. We'll be a regular! P.S. Worst dining experience of my life! 7:15 reservation, called to table at 7:20. I chose to go for early Mother's Day to beat some of the crowd on Sunday, and to be easier to navigate with older parents with dementia and walkers, AND to experience the chocolate piñata. It looks like a fun little novelty dessert for a small crowd, and I was looking forward to it. Service was so bad - I was trying to ignore it, remaining calm, withholding complaining; I got my phone out for a diversion, but someone in this organization needs to know how bad this went. I seriously think our overly animated waiter was on something. (Another upset guest I spoke to on the curb outside after agreed, and said the waiter's name was "A***". This gentleman asked 3 times to speak to the manager, and was told he was too busy to come to the table. He left his family to finish up and went to his car. His food was comp'd, he said.) Nothing was right or timely-not enough menus when we were seated, long wait to be acknowledged, a few drinks came out, but not all of them. A no salt marg came with salt, the other marg was about 15 min later; 2 appetizers were ordered- delivered 30 min apart. The tableside guac-was not even made within sight of the table. The lady who makes it, comes to the table wearing gloves, asking if we want everything in it... why is she wearing gloves-and touching the table and who knowswhat else? Guac shows up. After getting up to ask someone, we finally get small plates about 10 min later. Somewhere along this timeframe, one of us asks to speak to the manager. The second app finally showed up about 15 min AFTER speaking to the manager! (Timestamp here: 8:15) Goofy waiter guys says "oh yeah- that app takes the longest to make". ...drink refills, chips and salsa refills...where'd he go? We didn't even see him for the longest time! We talked about walking out, just as a different waiter brought the food - time 8:47. The shrimp and crab enchiladas I ordered were delicious, but not enough to save this debacle. Fajitas did not come out with tortillas, beef enchiladas too salty to eat, and they didn't even have the touted 'homemade' red sauce on them! ...beans were forgotten. He finally brought the beans when we were finished eating. (Charro beans were terrible, btw) Then another waiter brought a serving of beans. (I even asked the second guy what was wrong with our waiter. Seriously! Apologized for putting him on the spot, and the poor guy even stuck up for him. "Aw man, he's trying really hard.") Several other tables of 6 were in and out. Their waiter did fill our water glasses at one point before food came out- he at least acknowledged that the service we were receiving was not up to standard. I asked him if the chocolate piñata had a long wait time, and he said about 20 minutes....already thinking about skipping it. (A $35 dollar dessert!*later read in a review that the fresh fruit is subpar, and the choc dip was hard- that would've been a waste of $35!) Back to the part about thinking the waiter was high. He said "oh yeah- you want the chocolate piñata!" NO- we don't want it, just bring the check. Then I told him to stop talking and to just bring our check. He kept blabbing on and on, but I was done. I didn't hang around for the check- while it was being paid he said the line cooks were really slow tonight. Wow. Passing the buck, too! Outside, I told some people going in to make sure they didn't get this guy for a waiter. What an awful experience! *edit- I gave all of this statement on their webpage, BEFORE I thought to read yelp or google reviews. Dang. This place has been terrible for a long time! Being from Chicago, my family and I visited this place a lot. So when we found out it was coming here, we were excited. My kids got the quesadillas which they liked. My wife got the enchiladas which she liked. I got the jalisco and was expecting more. 30+ bucks for 4 small strips of chicken breast, 4 small strips of steak, 3 shrimp and a scoop of rice, is not enough. The corn tortillas were tough. I couldnt bite through them. The steak was tough. Dont think we will be back. Miss the one from home. Go to Mi Dia from scratch. read more

Since moving to Texas, my family and I have been on the quest for family Mexican restaurant that is close to what we are accustomed to coming from Las Vegas and not the Tex Mex we normally encounter. Don't get me wrong Tex Mex lovers, there is nothing wrong with the Texas staple but as adjusting new Texans, we are used to different. We can across this Uncle Julio's which is a fairly new location. The food and drinks did not disappoint however, the wait was pretty long. We were told about 25 minutes which ended up being an hour. Once seated we were placed in a high top with the kids. I am not a fan of high tops but I was not going to wait again for something else. Our server was very friendly though twice, our drinks were either very delayed or forgotten. The environment and decor is nice if not slightly noisy. Overall, we would return and I would recommend, though I will be very cognizant of the time to reduce the likelihood of a long wait. read more

I have tried this restaurant several times. There have been times when there was no hostess to seat me. Depending on the waiter or waitress; I have experienced being totally ignored and the wrong food item prepared. This leaves someone without eating. Also having to flag anyone down to check out is very frustrating. One of the managers is very friendly and visits with the customers to check on their experience. This is our 3rd try here and it keeps getting worse. We have always loved UJ, but this location lacks the service and food quality of their other locations. I ordered the same salmon, it was so dry and over cooked. Service was slooooow, we sat for 15 min before I had to ask for water while our nachos were waiting to be eaten. Husband's cheese enchiladas were filled with cold cheese. I want to love this place but it is not worth the expensive prices. read more

My sprite was straight carbonated water and my husband had to go look for our waiter to get a new drink. He couldn't even find our waiter so another waiter got it for us. Not sure what the hype is but the place is so loud and noisy I couldn't hear my waiter. The food kept us waiting a long time to come , while we would have expected the soup to come right away, it came along with the main course. So what's the point of an appetizer then? The waiter hardly came by to check on us so.. and the young ladies put us near the restrooms when I specified that we didn't want to be seated near restrooms or the kitchen. This location of Uncle Julio's is the best! Compared to addison and allen where the service is a little slow, not at this one. Waiter was super attentive and the GM himself came by a couple times to check on us and even brought us some additional tortillas for our fajitas. Food came out quick and tasted great! Margs were strong and tasty. My girlfriend's first time and she was very impressed. The decor inside (we sat in a high top in the bar area) was really nice too. Will be going to this location from now on. We also had chips and queso which was delish. read more
