Food was really good. And it's a small local buisness which I like to support over chain restaurants. Service could have been faster. But we weren't in a hurry during dinner, so that doesn't affect anything for me. The portion size is really large and a great way for everyone to try something different. Our server greeted us immediately and showed us the 2 sided menu, traditional items on one side, and dishes more geared to what Americans usually like on the other. My wife and I ordered the Oil Splashed Noodles, delicious house-made noodles, Stir-Fried Green Beans, better than 99% of the other places we have tried, and the Crispy Spicy Chicken, just enough numbing spice to be delicious with a flour-based batter that felt like American style fried chicken with a distinct Sichuan flavor. This was our first visit and I can hardly wait to go back. I wanted to visit Uncle Lee's Cafe because I saw a video of them hand making noodles for Xian dishes and had to try them. My husband ordered the Orange chicken, I had the Oil splashed noodles, and we shared the Chinese burgers. Everything was great, but the star was the Oil splashed noodles. They were flavorful and spicy without being too hot to eat, and the noodles had a great chew and the seasoning coated them perfectly. I found this place from a tiktok video. I was in the area and thought I would give it a try. I love mom and pop shops and this had that atmosphere. Our server was informative of the menu and helped us pick the best options for our table. We ended up getting the pork bao buns, sour soup dumplings and the oil splashed noodles. Burned food, incorrectly ordered food! Poor customer service AND THE FOOD IS HORRIBLE! Shame on you guys... this is a travesty!! Attached Find the email I sent to the restaurant and EAT24! This is what I submitted! To the restaurant! I understand that you didn't get the correct order, and I didn't have an issue with that! But after looking at my order you AS WELL BURNED my food, left off an egg roll..(I ordered 4, got 3 pork and 1 vegetable) and the 1 vegetable was part of my combo! My soup was wrong and my food is cold... you tell me to order steamed dumplings... cause pan frying is hard...THEN TAKE IT OFF YOUR MENU!!! So now you expect me to wait 1 HOUR to get delivered some dumplings and YOU WONT REFUND MY MONEY! After complaining to EAT24 they contacted the restaurant and DID not get any better response... so their attempt to make me whole is to refund me $8.00 on a $25 order and ALL THE FOOD WAS WRONG OR BURNT! To EAT24! I appreciate your attempt to make this right, but unfortunately after this all settles and I'm able to FULLY resolve this issue I will be deleting this app, will do NO MORE ordering with you guys and certainly won't order food from this restaurant. It really is unfortunate that you were not able to make me whole on a situation between you and your vendor that I appear to caught in between. Might I suggest that you screen your restaurants better to prevent the combination of a restaurants poor customer service and you guys making a poor attempt at reconciliation. Strange to not find this restaurant on Yelp. I came here last about a year ago and inadvertently wrote a review for a business with the same name in Richmond. Is this a franchise? A year ago I thought this place was OK. Today I think they do not have a chef. Ordered Happy Family and sesame chicken. Happy family sauce bland. Thin pieces of beef could not be chewed. Rubber. The 'chef' had obviously never heard of velveting. The sesame chicken had no flavor of sesame. The initial flavor was of sugar. It was so sugary that it took a good 20 seconds for chili flavoring to manage to fight its way to the front. The chicken pieces were obviously processed, 'boil in the bag' style food that companies such as fast food places buy, The brownish rice had a funky flavor I could not recognize. I hope this wasn't because the rice was left over from previous days. I actually called to express my disgust and for a refund of at least half. My reasoning was that a comparable meal in quality from a fast food place would have cost as much. I think what is most perturbing is that this company has obviously not employed a chef. If this 'chef' had simply bought the 'Americas Test Kitchen' DVD set, he could have cooked so much better. I've been a customer for a few years now. Unfortunately, tonight's meal and service wasn't good. Ordered the family dinner along with extras such as won tons and mango tea. The Mango tea was extremely sweet, the won tons were over fried to the point I couldn't even recognize nor taste what was inside the fried wonton. The wonton soup was extremely salty. Also they forgot to add the appetizers that was supposed to come with the Family dinner meal. (ie. ribs, crab puff, egg roll) I was however offered a credit of $2 for the missing appetizers. Unfortunately, I gave them a $4 tip before noticing my missing food. It might be a long while before I go back. read more
