At long last Italian ice with intense flavor, not a small block of ice embedded at the bottom of the cup. Uncle Louie G is one of my default favorites and their other longtime competitor Ralph's. This is one my neighborhood pick for Italian ice. On a New York summer's Saturday afternoon following brunch, I came for one small scoop of Italian ice $4.00. Delicious. There is no sales receipt when payment is in cash. The menu is affixed on their wall. I chose Sweet Georgia Peach which was a good choice. It is not entirely sweet but a good consistency. I find the flavor names awkward and very aberrant. "Wassup Watermelon, Pistachio Nutz, Rainbow Cookie, My Honey Doo, F.D.N.Y. Cherry, Cantaloupe Balls, et al." Uncle Louie G also offers ice cream, but my primary purpose is Italian ice. The ice cream also have vegetarian, non-dairy lactose free option. Customer service is friendly and young students who work for the summer. The young man was very accommodating to my request as I changed my mind at the last minute from watermelon to peach. Ergo, five stars for flavor + good customer service. Credit cards are accepted. There is one outdoor bench under a umbrella for shade and tables/seats for limited outdoor seating - rain or shine. I was excited to pull up here this past Saturday after attending a party at the beach. They must be open late because I remember it being after 10:30. Anyway I used to go out on dates with my HighSchool sweet heart here when I was younger and although that was 20 something years ago the fact that this place is STILL here is so freaking nostalgic! There was a young lady inside cleaning and prepping for the next customers so we had a second to decide and then BOOM a guy is like are you ordering? As I turned to address him with a yes - I noticed the line loosely forming behind us with like 12-18 ppl just walking up. The young woman finished her task and came to help and abruptly shouted like a baseball coach for everyone to get in order and pointed out different windows that you could pull up to. It was like the exact amount of aggression needed to subdue a summer crowd. The icecream was so freaking good. My family was all like oooo what's that's what's in it - when I got my Soprano Spumoni. Everyone else got the Cookie Monster and their mouth turned all blue. It was $5 for a small and that was actually a lot of ice cream for me. I have been going here for years - always loved the flavors and service !!! my son has been coming here for frozen treats since he was 15 months. However, I'm not sure what has changed but the staff here recently was very rude . Maybe there was temporary staff because they did not look like the usuals . A lady told my family of 5 that we could not try any flavors and was yelling there was a line . She said there was a new girl working there. instead of helping the new girl she resorted to just telling everyone the girl was new and left . I told her my son - who is (4 years old ) and my cousin who Is visiting internationally would like to try one flavor each . The new girl tried to help but the lady jumped in and said we could not try any flavors . - the group of 4 other people next to us also noticed that she did not care about the customers and were annoyed as welll. We still bought 5 items but I absolutely hated the experience . This happened Labor Day weekend and there was not many people waiting . Had the Jamaican rum and raisin, the serving that came in the cup was huge, two people can eat from it. I love rag time, every time I pass by it's like the devil calling me and I always have to answer. They used to have the best sandwiches also. Only issue there's was to much raisins. I finally was able to stop and taste an Ice Cream from this place. I thought that they may have also food(hot dogs, etc). No food Italian Ices or Ice Cream. Big selection for both. This time, ice cream: Rocky Road Rage! I made the mistake of asking for a cone, a Waffle Cone. I put lots of the ice cream on my shirt on a warm beautiful evening. The ice Cream was creamy and chunky. The cone was nice and crispy. One lonesome bistro table with two seats on the sidewalk, in front , a couple more tables and chairs to the right. Very limited seating on the sidewalk only. It's a corner place. Most people go back to their cars or have take outs. I can see many locals walking past my car toward the business. Others in bikes, even wheelchairs. Prices are reasonable for the amount of ice cream they gave me. Next time, I'll try an Italian Ice. read more

Nice spot! Good selection of Italian Ices and ice cream, with attention given to custom flavors and interesting names. Tried the Better Pecan along with the Zblack Razzberry.. Tons of flavor over most other spots, and probaly the calories to go with it..Prices are pretty good as well, definitely cheaper than Carvel. Came from California and wanted to stop by an ice cream /Italian Ice before heading back to the airport. Saw this place and it seemed like a really nice place to go to. So me, my gf and two other people came here and we were told they weren't serving ice cream at this time. But we walked outside and saw multiple ice creams ready to be served in their containers. We went back inside and we asked if they were completely not serving ice creaming and maybe they were serving Italian ice cream? They(two young females) corrected us and said there water is frozen. This is where it all went down from here. They then said in the most sarcastic and smart ass tone, "do you want us to use a dirty spoon or something?!" Then they both proceeded to laugh.
