Lunchtime in a weekday this place is busy but they are prepared! Line up moved quickly and I'm vegetarian and the meat shawarmas look good! I had a falafel wrap. Wrap was the store bought kind but nice and fresh. They add hummus lots of lettuce tomato onion and pickles veg then tahini and hot sauce if you like. The key is they don't add so much that the wrap drips and leaks. The falafel was crisp but was not fried Immediately for me as they obviously were getting ready for the lunch rush. It was still good. However there was a bit too much parsley for my liking - my only criticism. I also liked hat every time a teenager ordered they asked if they were a high school student and then told them to take a free pop. So many places treat teens poorly so I thought that was awesome. So happy that there is a shwarma place in Richmond that's open past 4pm! Unfortunately it is not as good as I had hoped. I had a chicken plate with rice, salad, and pita. The chicken was full of fatty skin and the rice was super oily. Their sauces (tahini and hummus) were pretty good though. The hot sauce was just franks but still good. If you like tzatziki make sure you ask for it because some plates don't automatically come with. Even though i enjoy cooking i still find myself here allmost daily . I like all there menu items but find myself usually getting sharmas and especially the chicken classic with that garlic dip , that stuff is seriously addicting . oh and best falafals everrr :P Great place to go to pick up quick meal or too sit down and enjoy . I would give 2.5 if I could and primarily based on questionble freshness, value, and service. I had the falafel platter and my friend had the mixed meat platter. No one in the joint (def not a sit down place) and I got the feeling they are not that busy. I asked if I can have rice instead of a pita (same price on the menu) and was informed the owner doesn't allow ANY substitution. Okay, fair enough. For the price, the sides were really small (I get more at the food court) and they didn't even warm the pita bread...it was straight out of the plastic bag. They gave us meat that was sitting around for awhile (yes dry) and veggies didn't look or taste fresh (primarily iceberg lettuce)...the tabouleh with the falafel platter was made from drying parsley. Surprisingly the flavours and seasoning were pretty good. The falafel was tender on the inside and crispy on the outside. The meat was good too. Too bad they don't have better quality ingredients. Oh and the service was really bad. One guy didn't speak English and the other guy looked like he just got out school...I didn't want him touching my pita bread with his hands because he was obviously not prepping food. read more

Not a great place to eat. The food is usually a hit or miss. Sometimes it's so greasy that I throw it out. But after my last incident I'm not planning to go back. Order my wrap and take it to my car. While opening it a pile of oil falls on my work pants. At that moment I was already upset. Then I take the first bite and I get burnt chicken. So I take the wrap back in and let them know the situation. They tell me that that's how it's supposed to be. I said I have come here on multiple occasions and it's not like this. They were still adamant that it was correct. I asked if they could make me a new one and they refused. They told me if I don't like it not to come back. As far as service it was pathetic. read more

#celiac review- Highly recommended by other gluten free families in Richmond. Was impressed with the service from our phone call for take out. As we have to eat GF she knew exactly what went on in the kitchen for zero cross-contamination. Falafel plate without pita or tabouli and provided extra salad. Pickles on salad were not our favourite. Our friends also enjoyed the large falafel (12) appetizer and chicken plate with pita bread. Decent size portions with tons of fresh hummus! Wow I am so glad this place opened up near here! Richmond was definitely in need of a delicious Shawarma/Falafel place. It's not the swankiest joint you'll ever see, but it is clean with a few tables/chairs to rest your weary legs as you stuff yourself silly. Or take it to go! From what I hear, most of the traffic to this place is take out anyway, so you'll generally see the restaurant pretty empty. The offerings here are similar to the other Al Basha locations in the lower mainland. You get a choice between various meat or veggie plate combos or wraps. These guys also offer fresh baklava which is very sweet and yummy for $2.50 a piece. These tiny morsels are well worth it if you have a sweet tooth, but don't get too many as it can be very overwhelming. The shawarma wrap is my usual go to order and it never disappoints! It can also be pretty messy because of how full these guys fill their wraps. So chomp lightly or end up covered in shawarma goodness. Or just go all out, I won't judge. The falafel here is also very good and is made fresh to order. Service is great, friendly and quick. Bonus: Tuesdays are cheap falafel wrap days! read more

Been looking for high quality shawarma for a very long time. I didn't have very high expectation of this place because it didn't look that great from the outside but they sure did surprise me. It was hands down one of the best shawarmas I've had. I got a lamb shawarma and everything about it was perfect. It was extremely juicy and the lamb was cooked just about right. MAJOR FAIL!!! I was craving a donair so I decided to give this place a try. I saw someone else eating a rice plate so I decided to give it a go. The server gave me more chicken than rice, which doesn't end up tasting right.. the chunks of meat were way too big, not bite sized and the rice was under cooked which just ruined the meal. The top it off, the server asked me if I wanted hot sauce. I said yea a bit.. next thing I know he smothers the meat in franks red hot... ARE YOU KIDDING ?
