We went to uncle Tony's tonight to get takeout. I'm happy to say that the marinara sauce we got is very good. It's a little bit spicy, but it's much better than that horrible gamey meat sauce they started making recently. So we will make sure that each time we go there we'll ask for the marinara sauce. I just don't understand why they went to the gamey meat sauce to begin with, because it was perfect before that. Other than that, the rest of the dinner was very good. Uncle Tony has has a delicious chicken Parm nice and crispy breaded delicious gravy with lots of cheese on top. Just melts in your mouth when eating it and always comes out fresh. Great prices amazing food and wonderful service. Highly recommend ambience is great. read more

This place doesn't miss. I used to go here quite often when I lived in the area and it's always a nice treat. The pizza is one of my favorites in the state (definitely in my top 5). I also like their wings, calamari and desserts and my bass player raves about their snail salad! Great for takeout and also cozy for dine-in. I've been going here for years and the tomato sauce has always been good but since the beginning of this year something is off. The tomato sauce lately has a very heavy taste of salt pork and it's not as good as it was. I really hope this was just a fluke the two times I've had it when it was like this. One of my favorite pizzas in Rhode Island... sauce and flavors are on point! No frills, but delicious... love the snail salad, wings and calamari as well! If you have a sweet tooth, the peanut butter explosion is not to be missed! *I have never dined in but looks cute inside...as does the East Providence location ***I usually get some combination of sausage & ricotta and/or pepperoni and extra cheese (give or take onion, mushrooms and green peppers). Not sure why but had a craving for Uncle Tony's. We tried to go on July 4 but the restaurant was closed. So the following night had to go back. Not sure why, as it's not my favorite pizza. Anyways we ended up going and the over all experience was good but it won't be a regular spot for my wife and I. Maybe once a year. From my previous visits I do remember having a great salad and enjoyed the bread. Same thing on this visit. Got a small salad & had 3 pieces of the bread and both were delicious. Next time I get a large salad instead of the small one. We ordered a large pizza with mushrooms on the whole thing and half pepperoni. As I mentioned it's not my favorite pizza but passable. Back for another great meal at this local gem! We both at veal tonight; me with the veal abruzze and my wife with veal parm. The gravy (sauce) can not be beat! And neither can the service! Been here a hand full of times, usually a nice home feeling meal. Tonight was no different, but the big change was the service we received. We had a waiter who seemed to be to interested in conversations with people at the bar than waiting on our table. One moment, we had to get up and ask the bar for refills of our drinks due to no one coming by. We were trying to order a side soup after our meals arrived, but no came by to check to see how we were doing When we finally came to realize what lack of service we received, I made my way to the bar to ask for the check, seeing how it had been a solid 30 minutes without seeing our waiter again. Amazing pizza, super fast service, including pickup, and incredibly friendly staff. They run a well-oiled machine there and they can handle a crazy dinner rush with the parking lot completely full! Check out the del Abruzzo pizza! I've only seen it there, and it's seriously one of my fave pizza topping combos (sweet Italian sausage and ricotta cheese). Makes me wish I didn't live so far away! Mid Italian food. Chicken parm was a little overcooked. Chicken park sub was a little pricey at 14.50. Menu says 12.90. I get it, inflation but still a little much for mediocre food. It's not bad but not good either. My son ordered the chicken Alfredo. Huge portion with tiny pieces of dry cubed chicken. Just okay. Our server was very nice and helpful. $70 for 3 people. This is a traditional Italian family restaurant (as you would typically find in Rhode Island),and it has all the associated elements. It's a friendly, lovely venue where it's not necessary to overdress. The food has always been, and remains superior. One of my favorites is the lasagna; however the pizza is excellent too. read more

I ordered a large dellabruzzo pizza. . Was charged $35! Asked if this price was correct. She said yes, it's a special pizza. It's not. It's a two topping pizza (sausage, ricotta). Johnston, Rhode Island location. We were visiting from North Carolina and decided to give this place a shot. It is what it is: A fairly average place to eat. That being said, the Mozz sticks and pizza were the winners, here. Not bad at all. I also had the eggplant parm sandwich, and it was just ok. Wish the eggplant slices had been a little bit thicker. Service was good, and the folks there were pretty friendly. I think I'd give the place a return visit in the future, but as everyone knows, there are a plethora of Italian restaurants to try out in Johnston and nearby Providence. read more

While this particular location has been here only a few years, Uncle Tony's has been around for nearly 70. I remember going to the East Providence restaurant as a teenager and that was...well, many moons ago. I often ask myself why a place like this does so well in a town (state, for that matter) that has an abundance of authentic, old school Italian restaurants. I've come to the conclusion that people like the family atmosphere, large portions, decent value and consistency. There's plenty of parking, although I have seen the lot full on many occasions. The service is always very good and friendly. They also do a brisk take-out business (pizza, mostly, and their sauce). There is a separate area for take-out, just inside the main entrance. The bar is small but usually busy when I've visited. On a recent stop, I ordered the Eggplant Parm. The menu has always been a little off putting for me, since I am not a meat eater. Almost every Italian entree, including the eggplant and chicken Parm, comes with their signature "fragrant meat sauce." However, they were happy to oblige me by preparing mine with marinara sauce instead. Good to know. Another nice option was cheese ravioli instead the usual pasta choices of spaghetti, penne, etc etc. my dinner included soup or salad and I chose the salad, knowing that it is a good sized bowl with lettuce, tomato, carrots, red onion and cucumber. Also, the dressing some in a decent sized little tub and not a shot glass sized one, like many places. And, we shared a nice generous basket of fresh Italian bread. My date ordered the Marc Anthony sandwich, which had turkey, ham, bacon, lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions, cheddar cheese and a zesty sauce. He asked for no onions and, again, they happily accommodated. The sandwich was enormous. We both left with doggy bags. You can get a more gourmet version of Italian food in the area, but Uncle Tony's has a nice menu, great service and a friendly, family atmosphere. read more

First time we tried this place it was takeout and the pizza was really good in my opinion. My mother in law had ordered it and said to always tell them to make it well done or else it comes out under cooked. She said well done and it was perfect. The amount of onions and peppers was alot and it had great flavor. 2nd time trying them again we got takeout and the extra cheese peppers and onions came out so good but the chicken bacon ranch. That was another story!! It didn't even look or taste like it came from the same restaurant! Very dry chicken tender pieces. Way too many dry bacon bits. I'm pretty sure they forgot the ranch inside the pizza. It was very gross and dry and we agreed we wouldn't even feed this to a dog. Waste of $11 on that one for sure ! read more

I have been to another one of their locations before and thought it was pretty good so was happy to try the one they opened five miles away from me. The place is pretty big they have a good sized area for take out and a large seating area. We were greeted and seated quickly. They brought us some delicious soft warm bread which we inhaled it was so good. We were not too hungry so we just ordered a large cheese and pepperoni pizza. It came out fairly quickly. The pizza was good. The sauce was tangy and the pepperoni those little cute ones that curl up and the oil sits in. My only complaint is that it needed to be cooked More. I will ask for it well done next Time and that is not really a big deal since I'm sure they would rather cook it again the. Have to throw out a dark one. This used to be one of my favorite spots for a chicken Parmesan sandwich with extra cheese and when I read the reviews I appalled at how low they were! I hadn't been here in quite a while so I decided to grab a chicken parmesan sandwich for myself and a chicken cutlet sandwich for my son as well as an order of mozzarella sticks. First of all the lettuce they put on my sons sandwich was BROWN and wilted. I'm kicking myself for not taking a picture! I wouldn't feed that to my dog- forget a 3 year old child! Nothing angers me more than brown lettuce!!! How simple is it to just SKIP the wilted/brown lettuce!?? My son was horrified and didn't want to eat his meal - even after picking it all off. He's also a GREAT eater and he said it wasn't that good! My sandwich on the other hand was not the delicious chicken Parmesan with extra cheese I remember. I got a large and the first half of my sandwich was great- the second half was tough!! I know I can't be the only chicken lover on here but when you get like a "chewy" piece of chicken; sometimes it ruins the entire meal. The entire other half of the sandwich had those stringy chewy chicken pieces- thus making it inedible. On the positive side- the mozzarella sticks were good! But then again how do you really mess up mozzarella sticks. Either way they weren't wrapped properly and I ended up with half the order covered in marinara sauce so by the time I got home- they were soggy! Also when I initially called to order the sandwich I was put on hold repeatedly and every time someone different answered! I must have repeated my order to 3 different people/ & each person needed me to repeat it several times! It was 2 sandwiches and an order of mozzarella sticks soooo not rocket science-- I was like what is going on here? They must have been seriously understaffed- but even so? Everyone who works there besides maybe kitchen staff should have the capability to take a simple take out order over the phone. I don't even work there and if I was tasked with this- I could do it! Overall I was really disappointed with BOTH our meal & the customer service. I was ready to rate 5 stars when I thought of eating here but after my experience with chewy chicken, brown wilted lettuce & terrible customer service- I'm sorry but I had to give 3 stars and that's being GENEROUS And I am also basing it on past meals (that were amazing) and past waitresses (whom were always excellent btw). So not sure what happened to this place but if management doesn't step in and fix things up they may have issues. If this was my first and only meal there I probably would not return. I tried to order mozzarella sticks again and I was disappointed. I thought maybe after 3 years, they would master this. The pizza was good but the mozzarella sticks were not edible. They were soggy and squished so bad they looked like they were sat on. I would expect better mozzarella sticks from a reputable restaurant that has been around this long. I visit this establishment often to meet my friends for lunch. We love all of the food here! Everything always taste fresh and delicious! The service inside is a little bit slow. Servers are a bit too laggy probably due to poor management but always very friendly so makes up for that. However tonight I called to have a takeout order put in and was put on hold two times also this is the 3rd time in a row ordering takeout that I was rushed through the order and the girl taking my order was extremely rude to me. Can't say that is the last time I will go to uncle Tony's because I do love the food but from now on no more takeout. I will order from another place if I am going to pick up food on the way home from work. I called to order a plumpy and was told there was no more spinach pie dough but they could make it into a calzone instead. I agreed only to come home with my order and find this. This "spinach pie" has no spinach (the spinach that was on it wasn't cooked) on it at all and globs it hard cheese So disappointing. I have always loved this spot. The "onion strings" appetizer is my favorite. I am not a huge onion ring fan but these are thin, crispy, and just enough flavor.
