Being in a pizza community group means I'm always craving pizza. Living on the north end of Providence, I have my fair share of choices. But there was one spot nearby I hadn't been to since November and it was high time I went back. That place is Zesty bites. They're located on that last stretch of Smith St before you cross over in North Providence. I always manage to find street parking in the front but there's more around the corner as well. Imad was in there cranking out a HUGE catering order! There were covered pans everywhere, ready and waiting for the client to come and pick up. But that didn't stop Imad from taking a moment to shake my hand and ask how I was doing lately. I didn't want to take up much of his time as his Friday night was just kicking off but he is genuinely a warm and friendly person, you can't help but smile when he smiles. I took home a Pesty Chicken, house pesto with turkey bacon, onions and chicken, plus a hefty slice of his gorgeous baklava. After my 5 minute drive home I got to it immediately. The pesto is herbaceous, salty from the Parmesan. The turkey bacon is not what you find Butterball making but rather, this was of a much higher quality and was an actual piece of sliced meat instead of a formed amalgamation of ground turkey. All of those ingredients sang while being supported by the incredible crust. I don't quite know how to describe it. It's light, fluffy, but crispy. Crunching into the crust scratched a part of my brain I didn't know needed it until I bit into this little slice of heaven! The baklava looked as good as it tasted. Sweet, spiced, and it had this deep flavor I can't quite put my finger on but it's probably top 3 best I've ever had. If you haven't visited Imad and his shop up over on Smith Hill, then you are missing out on a unique and delicious experience. 10/10, great pizza. I've been on a mission to find saj and I may have found it. Found this place on the recommendation of fb group. Decided to make the drive in the middle of a storm. Thank goodness they were open. Walked in as I was ordering and got the shawarma wrap. Oder took about 20 minutes. The shawarma was loaded with chicken, fries, garlic sauce and homemade hot sauce. There was so much flavor. The garlic sauce was really good without overpowering garlic flavor. It was nice and tangy. I'll need to come back and try a shawarma made with saj. read more

Although there are plenty of food options here, I came for the Pizza, and it was tasty! Service is very casual with no formalities. Space is very small. You can eat in at one of the couple tables, but I'd recommend doing take out. I definitely would like to come back and try some of the Mediterranean dishes. read more

I'm participating in the Lord of the pies contest, and this was one of the businesses. They offered a generous slice of cheese pizza. The crust was delicious the sauce a little sweet, but very good and the cheese of good quality very little flop. Very good pizza. The owner was lovely and gracious. He also offers Middle Eastern food, such as Kibby and Shawarma. I'm really happy. I found this place and looking forward to returning for some delicious Middle Eastern food. I went to Zesty Bites for the RI Food Fights to get the falafel appetizer. We went for lunch and the place was empty which made me a little nervous, but the owner kindly greeted us and we placed our order. We ordered the chicken shawarma salad, the kafta pita wrap, and the falafel appetizer. We ordered our food to go, but there were tables in the building. We watched everything be prepared fresh which was amazing. It did take a few minutes, but it was totally worth it to know that everything was fresh. The salad was a great sized portion. It had a TON of flavor from the dressing and all of the fresh herbs. The chicken had great seasoning. The falafel were so perfectly crisp and were not greasy AT ALL. They came with a tahini dipping sauce and some pickles. My boyfriend really enjoyed his kafta pita and he kept talking about planning his next trip there while he was eating. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for fresh, authentic Middle Eastern food! Pretty darn good. Friendly people too. Sauce was absolutely banging, and the cheese and crust were good too. Wasn't given any plates or utensils, and while I didn't need them, it would've been nice to at least have them as an option. All and all, it's a great option. That said, it is a touch pricey. A small cheese pizza and a 20oz soda will run you $17. While not absurd, it is on the higher end of places I've been. read more

look i love my places that i love here in rhode island, but this is hands down the best shawarma in the whole state. this tastes exactly like home spices, texture, quality of ingredients, presentation, and all. i really do appreciate all of my middle eastern spots but this got me a little emotional on a random tuesday at 1pm. i ordered the "zesty bites chicken shawarma" and it's the true arabic style: chicken, garlic, wrapped tightly in saj bread then pressed to the fire to seal it, sprinkled with sumac, parsley, and a light dollop of pomegranate molasses. fries and pickles and garlic sauce on the side, and the coleslaw tasting as good as it did was a nice surprise. i can taste the quality of this pomegranate molasses not having excess sugar as a cheap substitute. the pickles should be the arabic pickle slices and on the side so it doesn't make the wrap soggy. the saj bread beats any other wrap. my food was ready fast and the lebanese man i spoke to over the phone for my pickup was so helpful making sure i got exactly what i was asking for. the place inside is very clean and minimalist with plenty of natural light if you wanted a quick seat. i need to come back and try their kibbeh because chances are, they'll take me back home with that too. amazing mA. read more

At first I thought this was just a remodel, but it's actually under new ownership with a whole new menu! The food is fantastic! Excellent flavors and execution. Another stop during the month of November for the Lord of the Pies event. They're actually a couple of doors down from Big Tony's. Nice little place, definitely taking advantage of the PC crowd and proximity to there and LaSalle. Got two slices of Cheese. Regrettably they didn't seem too fresh and I don't want to be that unkind as I bet these slices (fresh) are really good, and I'm sure a fresh whole pie out of the oven is great, but it was hard to be solid on these slices. We first decided to try Zesty Bites one afternoon after seeing a tiktok of theres appear in our feed, as luck would have it we had a RI Food Fights coupon for their falafel. After looking over the menu I decided to add a Kofta Wrap and my girlfriend went for the Chicken Shawarma salad. The owner had recommended they I add grilled tomato's to the Kofta wrap which was a very good addition to the wrap adding a bit more test and acid to the mix. The Kofta itself was perfectly seasoned and the whole wrap together was delicious. The falafels were also perfectly crispy with just the right amount of seasoning and flavor. Couldn't recommend this place enough for a quick take out Middle Eastern meal. read more

As a college student who is also a pizza snob, I have been trying to find a consistent go to spot in the area. I walked by this place dozens of times before trying, I attend physical therapy right next door and would often go to the bakery that is right past zesty bites. At first I thought it was a cake or dessert shop based on the name, however curiosity got the best of me one day and I walked in. The shop has a feel of a typical local pizza / sub shop, but way more well kept than the average one. Instead of wings/ subs/ American appetizers being on the menu, zesty bites has a unique menu other than pizza consisting of mainly Mediterranean cuisine. I ordered a cheese and mahrgarita pizza, well done of course. They got the well done message without having to remind - the pizza had no flop and a perfect char. After just one bite, it was clear that the ingredients were fresh and of high quality. Perfect balance of a crunchy crust with a chewy inside, ideal ratio of cheese to sauce. If you are like me and want that New Haven style brick oven pizza, there is no place to beat. Walking distance from providence college, right next to La salle academy, next time you are in the area make sure to take advantage of this gem and reward your taste buds. You can expect an accommodating, family run staff as well. For the Super Bowl this year, I placed an order a few hours in advance greeted with smiles and no issues.
