My coworker heard about my quest to support local coffee shops from across the country and immediately recommended I try Uncommon Coffee Roasters. I owe her big time. Not only is their website super easy to navigate, I loved that I was able to learn more about the owners behind the biz, their stance on diversity and inclusion, and how they main sustainability. On top of that, I was able to really pick a few different blends that spoke to me, including their famous Virtue Cider Bourbon Barrel Aged Cider beans. I was already intrigued; but even more excited when it finally arrived. Though the pro-tip is to try it as a cold brew, I adore it hot. From the moment you take a whiff the beans, you know you're getting something special, and when you drink it, it's super smooth and gives you those cider notes while still paying tribute to the flavor of the coffee. Oh yeah, it definitely packs a punch without making you jittery, so that was another big win for me. Shipping was super fast. Though I hadn't ever planned on taking a trip to Saugatuck MI- I may need to reconsider. One, so I can check out this amazing shop, but two, so I can stockpile an empty luggage full of beans! My husband and I stopped by here with our two dogs to get a coffee. During the weekend, this place was line out the door each day! When we found a cute spot outside, my husband agreed to wait in line and order for us. There's an outdoor spot to order as well if the indoor line gets too long. Their outdoor seating is plentiful and even more in the back garden! As we waited for our order, the wonderful folks working there brought out water and treats for our dogs! We couldn't be more pleased to see such a dog friendly spot! I ordered a lavender flavored coffee beverage and my husband got the cafe miel. Everything was well made, very flavorful and not too sweet. We were so happy that we went back and ordered their coffee beans. This place is pretty stinking unique. Their speciality is cold brewed and hot coffee, although they offer other beverages and a few sweet treats. What I found most unique about this place was the garden area in back of the building. It was quaint and cozy with flowers, tables for seating, a water fountain, and an area where a masseuse gives chair massages. My friends and I grabbed a cold brew and sat in garden area while waiting to grab a quick 15 minute chair massage. At $15 for 15 minutes, the massage was a treat but not long enough for this "knotted" up woman. OMG!!! This coffee is the best coffee I have had. It is rich and smooth with nutty undertones. I added cream and sugar to mine. I was so bummed when they only had whole bean coffee to take home with me. I don't have a coffee grinder so I wasn't able to buy any. I would have loved to though, so perhaps that is something the business can look into. As I am not there always; I would have liked to take it home. I love rich coffee with bold flavors. Along with the coffee, I ordered the oatmeal. I was less impressed with the oatmeal. To be honest, it was a little bland, but not bad. The fruity flavor was refreshing; especially with the coffee. Overall, I am disappointed they didn't sell ground coffee beans so I could enjoy their coffee at home; however, it was still the best coffee I have had. (Saugatuck, MI Who knew?) This spot was a welcome delight on a trip to the area over the Thanksgiving holiday. I walked here every morning for a morning coffee. Dog-friendly patio out front, a big plus. Their caramel silk and PSL were both great. Cookies, delicious. I tried the pesto sausage bagel one day, which was excellent, and their other baked goods - muffins and croissants were also excellent. Walking up to the coffeeshop, you'll see bright yellow arrows and markings directing you where to go to order. Their menu is posted outside, but I think it's also on their website. I decided to go with the nitro draft latte. Overall it wasn't bad, but there was just way too much milk in it. The first sip was fine and you can taste the coffee, but afterwards you primarily taste milk. So in that regard, I'd say I've had better. My parents got the cold brew mojito, which I recommend and wish I got instead. Perfect combo of cold brew, a little simple syrup, mint leaves, and enough sparkling water to give you the bubbles but not water down the coffee too much. Service was quick and friendly, and I'd say a nice spot overall to stop at to try their stuff while walking around the town. read more

Cheated on our sandwiches. They offer a Gouda and Ham croissant, but gave us sausage because they were out of ham. It is cheaper to 'build your own' by $3 a sandwich. They gave people a hard time when asking for refunds. For the difference. Awful. read more

We were staying in a nearby town, but drove to Saugatuck every day just to come to this coffee shop! The coffee (black) was delicious. We got a blueberry streusel muffin daily which was always great. We enjoyed our smoothies, too, but they tasted different each day (Nana Berry). I'm sure it just depends on the person making it, but they tasted great regardless. I just LOVE uncommon coffee roasters. I have had their coffee before but had never been their shop! I am so excited I got to check it out. They have such a beautiful coffee shop down town Saugatuck. They are so cozy. They have a large menu and have plenty of non-dairy milk options. There is plenty of seating options-both tables for working and comfy chairs for lounging. If you are here during the warmer weather, go out back to their beautiful garden to sip you beverage! There are even massages out there! They also encourage you to bring you pups to the garden :) Here is what I LOVE most about this coffee shop. INCLUSIVITY!! They go above and beyond ensuring that everyone is welcome here. Their website even states that since they opened they have been known as, "the local gay coffee shop." I just also loved how they had local and national news on their bulletin about injustices and things going on in the world. This place has gender neutral bathrooms and everything. I just love how when you walk in, you are immediately greeted with smiling faces and everyone is welcomed as they are with open arms. This is also a super environmentally friendly and sustainable business. Everything they do is ensuring the environment is safe! Overall, I just love this business. I even order their coffee online here in Indy. It makes my soul happy to know that enjoying my coffee helps the environment and helps fuel a safe place for people to go! Top notch coffee and bar drinks in Saugatuck. Loved stopping here for coffee and breakfast and loving my coffee beans to keep the good memories roasting. My Mexican egg sandwich was fine, but the egg bake (Greek that day) was amazing! A great place for the community to meet, and there were lots of students studying and collaborating. Because the place is so small, it was hard to safely social distance with the rest of the customers forming a line, workers were busy and weren't able to fully enforce this - BUT it was super cold and snowy so it's hard to be very picky about it.
