Indeed, a fabulous selection of granite slabs at unbeatable prices. However, look elsewhere if you are searching for porcelain or ceramic tiling; especially shower walls! A sad selection of "grandma's choice select" options await you ranging in colors from off-white, to eggshell, to beige, to blahhh. Perhaps 5 whole options for tile trimming & design await you and forget about any matching bull-nose pieces. Genuinely surprised at the mixing and matching my project ended up being, I finally asked the manager what gives?! Uni-tile & Marble Inc (Hayward) will charge you (10~25%) if you return anything!!! I purchased quite a few boxes of marble tiles at the Hayward store. When I opened some boxes, the marble tiles looked quite different from the samples that you displayed. I used half of the tiles on floor and decided to use different tiles for other area. So I called the store and was told that only unopened boxes could be returned. Nobody mentioned any charge until I arrvied in the site. Staff became very unfriendly and told me in general they would not refund any return, but when I insisted on return or exachne, they said it would be 25% charge for return or 10% charge for exchange. How terrible is this?! It's unopend marble, not food or anything that would be different after purchase!!! They did not mention any return or cancellation fee upfront at purchase or at custoer service call. (They indeed had a small fonts paragrph about the return policy on receipt though.). Also the staff were very rude when I asked the staff and their boss about the ridiculous return policy. The boss said "We have to pay those workers to move the tiles back and forth when you return them. We are losing money to seel the stuff. It is NOT that every business has profile!....." and so on. For those who think that bad custoer service should be expected because the store was cheap..... You are wrong! There are many better stores out there and customers always deserve good services regardless price! read more

We purchased Canadian Maple cabinets (18 total) and 6 slabs of granite. Aileen was very attentive and really listened to any concerns as she drew up our kitchen, and as she drew it up again, and again. We had a 37 year old kitchen to remodel and kept changing what we were doing & how. Our contractor installed the cabinets and even he was very impressed with the quality, as were we. The granite is just beautiful and was installed by Uni-Tile. They were very careful and we couldn't be happier with the results. We got the kitchen we didn't think we could afford. read more

Have bought thousand$ from them for many projects over years. Generally good prices and horrible customer service (lots of bad, confrontational attitude -- fight the customer, being adversarial when no reason to). Maybe worst in Bay Area overall. Have never had a bad experience with Dan or Eric, and had a great experience with both today. They stayed 30min late for a pickup (I was stuck in traffic). That is light years beyond what I'd ever experienced (e.g., ran late a prev time, and called ahead but was told by another typical Unitle'r I would not be allowed in if even 1 minute late). Thank you both -- v. appreciated!! Hope they instruct their other employees to be fractionally like you ... but I fear you will get in trouble for being nice to a customer and saving my skin today. read more

February 2018, I purchased a granite kitchen counter top for the remodel of my mom's in law vacation rental. Calvin & Jenny helped make the process incredibly easy. They were kind, helpful and scheduling of the install was a breeze. We found an amazing amount of sophisticated choices at truly affordable prices. Just found this place as part of having granite counter tops installed and thought I'd found a great place for tile, vanitiy cabinet, etc. But I was sorely disappointed. Nearly every tile style has some part out of stock, no one know when they will be back in stock, or even if they are on order. The particular tile I wanted the bull nose finally was in stock, but the listello (they call it a liner) was then out of stock. Geez, who does their inventory control??? No information available on it's order status, when it will be in stock, etc. Customer service is ZERO, clearly they are very successful and thus don't need to give a hoot about walk in customers looking at bathroom vanities, tops and tile who are looking to spend only $1000 or so. ;-( The prices are great, but the price could be zero and if it's not available it's worthless. Very frustrating when they make it so obvious that you as a customer mean absolutely nothing to them. read more

you have to be your own advocate and you will get excellent granite for a half the price of everywhere else. You will not get the customer service (like home depot) but you will get a great product for a great price. do your own research and don't expect any hand-holding and you will be delighted with the results. 0-stars!! (but I had to add at least one in order to post this). My husband and I thought we hit the jackpot with Uni-Tile. Great selection and decent prices. We bought 2 bathroom granite vanity tops from them (a double bowl 60" and single bowl 30") and planned to go back to buy kitchen counter tops. They had a guy there, Jim (name changed), who told us how much it cost if we wanted them to glue our sink bowls to the granite for us. Did we want that service he asked?....or, we could just do it ourselves. We already had an idea how to do it, but he told us how (which we thought was great so we could make sure we were doing it correctly.). Seemed simple enough. We got home and my husband was preparing to glue the bowls when the entire 60" granite top just crumbled into about 10 pieces AND fell on his toes. We think there must have been a defect or crack in the granite for it to break into so many pieces and also break through the bullnose in several areas. We took it back to Uni-Tile and asked them to replace it since it seemed defective. We hadn't dropped it or mishandled it. They refused. The first manager said cracks are very common, in fact, if you look in their showroom, there are natural cracks in their granite displays I have never seen cracks that were "good" in any granite top in any home, or in my own homes that have had granite. This manager and another manager, Mae, said Uni-Tile NEVER glues the bowl to the top because the top is not strong enough. Really? Because one of their guys tried to get us to buy that service from them saying they could glue the bowl for us for additional charge. In fact, he told us how to do it ourselves too. They said that was wrong because they NEVER glue bowls and it should always be clipped onto the plywood. (Also running through my head is why all the other granite places we've been too sell bowls glued to the granite if granite is not strong enough to hold the weight of a bowl.) Mae, even admitted to my husband, "oh, did you talk to the big burly guy with grayish hair?" Why yes we did. She said, "That was Derek and he no longer works with us because he didn't know what he was doing or telling people." They refused to replace our broken vanity top or the broken bowl. We even asked to speak to their manager/supervisor. No one knew when he could be reached because he goes between three different locations. Please do not give them your business. They do NOT stand behind their product, or their customer service. If a hospital, had hired someone not qualified and it resulted in a bad outcome, this wouldn't even be an argument. read more

Ok so there is a language problem here. So I went to someone who spoke English. Very rude you can save some money here that is true. Do not go there unless you go with someone who knows about the products. I have been here 3 times and walked threw the entire large place and NO ONE has ever asked me if I needed help so if you go for the price only do so if you have your own help. I bought a countertop from them and when we went to buy the slab about 3/4 of them were cracked or extremely flawed. I guess there is a big market for cracked, broken granite????? Uni-Tile and Marble in Hayward and S.F. has great prices and great selections but very poor service. I bought both cabinets and granite counter tops from them. The cabinets are great and are installed by my contractor. But when the granite was suppose to be delivered and installed by Uni-tile, they said the piece was cracked. They sent another piece but it was a poor substitute so my contractor refused it. I had to trek back, this time to Hayward, to choose another piece. The first salesperson ditched me even though I knew exactly what I wanted. A second salesperson did the same. Finally, Alex helped me and finished the sale. Now I have to go back to SF, in person, to get my refund on the initial sale of granite. I found this whole experience to be very frustrating and time wasting. Very poor customer service!. read more

Horrible customer service! I ordered granite from here and paid the $150 delivery fee. Had to wait a week and when the driver arrived he told me they do not unload the granite from the truck. Well that would of been great to know before I took time off work. I asked the driver if he would help me, he said no. I asked the driver if he could come back later the same day, he said yes 4 o'clock. I then called the main office and explained what had happened. Not once did they apologize for the inconvenience, however they did assure me he would be back at 4. My father and brother both were able to leave early from work to help with the unloading. However the truck never showed up. I called the driver and he said o no it would be delivered Monday. That's a whole week away!. I said no u said today. I then called and asked for the manager, the manager again didn't apologize and said they could deliver Monday at the soonest. I explained what had happened and what I was told. He had no remorse and said Monday. I asked if they could at least take care of delivery charge. No chance. I ended up asking for a full refund if they couldn't do anything. He was more then happy to say yes. Didn't even try to save my business. Again, horrible customer service. Stay away! read more

Excellent selection of pre-fabricated granite counter tops in all sizes and colors and that too at very reasonable prices. You won't find such an impressive collection anywhere else. They also carry a wide range of medallions (the typical water jet ones) and at prices, you won't even imagine. I just had a first hand experience when the same medallion was quoted at 3 times the price (in 100s) at other stores. They do carry a wide selection of porcelain and ceramic tiles but typically 12x12 or 18x18. Wish they could carry 4x4 porcelain or ceramic tiles, which we were looking for using for the floor of the stall shower bathroom. If you are remodeling your bath or kitchen and are planning to use granite counter tops in any form, you should visit this place. read more

BUYER BEWARE! We picked out a left return granite slab for our bathroom remodel and we wrote our name in big red Sharpie marker on the back. I had to leave it there for several weeks, but was assured it was no problem. I did this because I was afraid that I wouldn't get the slab I had picked. Unfortunately I was gone on the day they put the slab in or I would have noticed, but the installer (independent of Unitile) told me that he had to cut the left return for me. I told him that I picked out a precut left return and wrote my name on the back in red Sharpie at which time he informed me that my name was on the back written on a piece of tape that was stuck on the slab. It ended up costing me more because I had to pay him to cut the return and on top of that, I didn't get MY slab, the one I paid for. Very frustrating!! If you are going to use this place to save money, be sure you can pick up your slab right away or you may end up with something you didn't pick. read more

The prices are good but beware of having them doing any work on the granite for you or having it on time. After spending $425 for labor to cut and bullnose a granite the bullnose had a groove in it and was coarsely polished so that it still looked dusty/sandy. If my project wasn't time limited I would have had them take the item back. I ended up spending $150 to have my contractor fix the granite. Although there is still a groove, the time issue became more important. I will never use their cutting/bullnosing service again. read more

Their inventory is huge. Their prices are good. But unless you speak Mandarin, you may run into some complications with communication, particularly with the sub-contractors that do Uni-Tile's installing. Not being able to speak the same language as the two-man team assigned to install the granite we bought from Uni-Tile made things much more complicated. Frustrating. ... If you're on a budget and are willing to settle for a mid-level quality stone - this is the place for you! We just finished a complete kitchen remodel and had to do it on a tight budget. Uni-Tile was the perfect place for us as we saved a ton of money! We knew we were shopping at the "discount" stone store but we are more than happy with what we chose and are thrilled with our new kitchen! Although the granite is not the highest of quality, we knew that going in. You can shop at Bloomingdale's or you can shop at Target and you know the quality is different. At Uni-Tile we knew we were shopping at the Target of marble and granite. But we are not complaining. We saved a lot of money and have a beautiful kitchen with gorgeous granite counter-tops. The selection is amazing - the hardest part was narrowing down our preference. The staff are nice, no-nonsense people. Go somewhere else if you are looking for warm and fuzzy. But if you want a nice, reasonable quality, inexpensive product this is the place! I would not hesitate to visit them again if I'm in the market for marble or granite. read more

If you know what you're doing this a great resource for kitchen and bath remodels and updates. If you need extra help figuring things out, I don't recommend going here without a contractor. No one really has time to help you other than to ring up your order. That being said, I brought in my own scaled drawings of a kitchen and was able to sit at the counter with one of the techs. She was phenomenal in translating it to their software in about 30 min she was done. The order was placed and the cabinets were built and delivered in about 10 days. My contractor put them in, the only problem we encountered was one of my own making. I measured something wrong and he had to fuss with the door frame into the room to fix my own mistake. Lastly, I also measured the wall height wrong and that caused me to have to return some cabinets, they charged a reasonable re-shelfing fee and fabricated my replacement cabinets in about 5 days. Because I had to go with shorter uppers, I actually came out ahead on the overall cost. read more

Did not buy anything but after being mocked and insulted at kz at santa clara, we were floored by the enthusiasm of the helpers around there. We were there around the end of the day and three times three different people showed us the slabs with such enthusiasm. They did not have the design we wanted. Even after we told them that, one person asked us to wait so that he could finish his work and then came with another person and provided suggestions and moved numerous slabs just to give us alternative s. And all this after kz refused to show more than I guess 8 slabs and that too when we had paid. Uni tile guys knew we were undecided, had not made any payments but still showed us so many slabs. This is a wonderful place to buy tile and laminate flooring. We were looking for a backsplash tile for months. What we liked was over $50/sf. We came here and found something very similar at $6.99/sf. We were so happy and excited. They have a ton of products. We just purchased cabinets and counter tops for our duplex in Oakland. These are solid wood cabinets and they are beautiful. We worked with Lily and she was amazing. We had a problem and needed to return some of the cabinets and she took them back with no problem. She really gave us good advise. This place is terrible me and my wife went to get some granite for our counter tops we found what we wanted my wife went to get somebody to help us some Mexican came didn't speak a word of English or understand some Mexican couple came in after us wanted the same slabs we were gonna buy they were speaking Spanish to the guy and he sold them then slabs we were gonna buy I gave this dump of a business a piece of my mind and they tried to sell me some other granite I told them I wouldn't take it if you gave it to me free and walked out went to granite expo in Emeryville much better selection great prices found much better quality rile for same price as the garbage at untile I am thankful I didn't buy anything from unitile if you want good quality granite for great prices go to granite expo very friendly knowledgeable staff I found a place I will be a repeat customer for all my granite and tile needs read more

very poor quality!!! I bought some quartz counter tops. Quartz is supposed to be resistant to chips, scratches and stains, that's what I wanted, but instead, this quartz got stained the very first day we used it. I only have 3 weeks with it and is all scratched, stained and chipped. I'm very mad. I spent a lot of money in my kitchen and I'm very frustrated seeing the bad quartz I got. I'm trying to talk to the owner about this issue but of course, no answer. When I bought the counter tops there, I though I was going to save some money but instead, I am going to be spending even more to replace those bad Quartz slabs. Really, really bad. read more

Worst customer service.Went to do a design and buy stuff after a week.The design team is pointing to other sales people and sales people is pointing to design team.One person saying only 3 computers can do design, the person who is designing is saying all computers can do the design.After waiting for 1 hour one person called us and that is the computer they do design, when we went and sat there he said oh i cant do design use the other person, so we were back to the line standing, after 1.30 hours of waiting, finally one person said let me do your design, he asked r u buying today or just design, we said we will design once we confirm with our contractor with the design we will buy next week.we gave the dimensions to him, and i felt he is a beginner in design struggling with the software initially i heard he is the so called "MANAGER of the store". Then he said this cant be done that cant be done, then he asked one dimension i said we don't have it , then he said u guys r wasting my time and your time , That's it i got frustrated i walked off from there.we wasted our whole Saturday here.we were in the shop for 4 hours.With the same dimensions i provided we got a nicer design from another place.Yes i heard this place is CHEAP, not only in materials even in customer service also.I did not see much difference between this place and the other place where they did the design, the other place indeed had better quality.
