First thing Monday morning, Randy called, got my info, and let me know they'd get to it as soon as possible, maybe Tuesday. No problem. Sure enough, Tuesday morning Randy called again--friendly as ever--and told me it was an easy fix! Not only did they take care of the issue that left me stranded, but they also finally fixed a problem with a rubbing caliper that I had complained about to Caliber Collision, Future Ford, and Midas. Every one of those places told me it was nothing and that I was "just hearing things." Turns out, I wasn't imagining it--Sunnyside listened, fixed it, and gave me peace of mind. They gained my trust by doing it right the first time, treating me with respect, and not charging me an arm and a leg. An oil change is the most basic service a mechanic can do, so if that can't be done correctly, it makes me question the quality and attention to detail on more serious repairs. The belt and the tensioner got messed up. That made the temperature go up. Si they gave us the estimate. It was not cheap. It may seemed something easy but it was pricey. Well at least hit fixed and they said that their work was guaranteed. They had it ready around 5 pm. Right before closing. So far so good. No issues anymore.

That's what led me to call them directly and ask about the Groupon deal they were advertising. During the call, I mentioned I had a Groupon and asked about the requirements for booking an appointment. While the man on the phone (whose name I didn't catch) began scheduling me, he informed me there would be an additional $25 charge for an oil filter replacement and oil disposal -- on top of the $50 Groupon. I let him know that the extra cost was a bit high for me and was simply trying to understand the full pricing. Before I could finish explaining or ask any follow-up questions, he cut me off, talked over me, and told me to go find someplace cheaper -- then abruptly hung up. I was shocked at how dismissive and rude he was. There was no attempt to clarify, help, or even show basic courtesy. Customer service means a lot to me, and this experience was a red flag. I take good care of my car and expect the same level of care and professionalism from anyone I trust to work on it. If someone is quick to hang up on a potential customer, I can only imagine how they might handle customers' vehicles behind closed doors. We then had the car towed back to the shop because the original problem had not truly been resolved. At that point, we were told the issue was actually the fuel pump. This was incredibly frustrating because after spending thousands of dollars based on their recommendations, another major repair was suddenly needed. It left us questioning whether a thorough diagnostic had been performed in the first place. As a customer, I understand that older vehicles can develop multiple problems. However, when a shop performs a diagnostic and recommends thousands of dollars in repairs, I expect those recommendations to be based on a complete and accurate assessment. Instead, it felt like we addressed one expensive issue after another without ever getting to the root cause. I reached out to the owner in writing, hoping we could have a productive conversation and work toward a reasonable resolution. While I appreciate that they did respond, I was extremely disappointed that there was no acknowledgment of the financial burden this created and no offer of any reimbursement, credit, or goodwill adjustment after we had invested so much money and still ended up with a vehicle that was not repaired.
