I've always relied on a family member who sews to hem my stuff, but I bought a suit for a banquet and needed a professional touch. My stuff tends to need a little extra work because I'm short, and WOW if they didn't disappoint!! They're busy, so expect to spend a little time in there. But they're busy because they're amazing. It was quicker than I thought, and so cheap! The few bad reviews on here are a little overblown. Suit pants are one of the few things a tailor will ask you about. You need to tell them what kind of break you want. But everything else... let them figure it out. They're professional. read more

I think I just caught them on the wrong day the last time around. I've taken three things here to be tailored. Two were for length, which were great. One was some pretty extensive tailoring of a bridesmaid dress - I had to take it back two additional times, but they did it get it right after that. I think it was a difficult dress, so I don't fault them too much on that. Just make sure you're very clear with them on what you want. I went to this place after reading several positive reviews about the quality of the service and the price. One of those is correct -- the price is good. However, I had 10 pairs of pants altered, and at least half of them ended up with legs that were not the same length. And there were four that were hemmed too short. I started bringing my jeans here about a year ago. I'm 5'1", so my jeans always need to be hemmed no matter what, so I need a good tailor. They do a great job for a great price, and will do a new hem or keep the original. Always nice and will do their best to get your stuff done quickly. They even were able to get a pair done during the busy Thanksgiving week so I could have them before the holiday. Definitely recommend. read more

Beware of this place!!! I have gone for years but my last two times have been terrible. I recently took in 4 high priced pairs of jeans to be hemmed to flats. I waited one hour and had them pinned and marked in the back. When I picked them up, they were too short by 1 1/2 inches. Over $700 down the drain. They did not apologize or seem to care in the least. Their "original hem" looks like my 7 year old's art project. They pieced on the original hem to a new hem that is crooked. I've gone here on two occasions to hem jeans and dress pants. The price is really great ($5 for jeans, they don't charge extra for boot cut), but you get what you pay for. They didn't do an amazing job of color matching the thread as they promised they would and there were really amateur mistakes like improper tension causing the stitches to look off. The only reason for 2 stars is the price is extremely affordable. However, as many of the rest of the reviews say, the customer service is absolutely horrendous. I came back to pick up the dress pants after 3 pm of the promised day and they took at least 15 minutes to look for my pants. No one apologized for the delay or explained that they would check elsewhere in case the pants were misplaced. The owner finally found my pants and spoke in Chinese to his workers in the back to hastily begin the work. I asked him if they just started on it, and he outright lied and said they have been working on it and just to wait 10 minutes. He didn't even try to make the situation better by apologizing for the pants not being ready or for the extra wait. It was shocking how rude he was. If was anything more complicated then hemming some pants, I would have just taken my clothes and left. Even as I waited I was stressed that they would mess up the hem job in their haste to finish them. I'm going to take my business elsewhere because I'd rather spend a little more on a tailor who is actually respectful of their customers and their time. read more

DO NOT go to Unique Tailor on Lower Greenville. Work quality and customer service are abysmal. They will take your money, ruin your clothes and treat you worse than a child rapist in prison. I asked for 4 items to be tailored: 1. Shorts = Hem on one leg does not match the other 2. Jeans = Appear to be unaltered 3. Pants #1 = Side seam is unraveling after only 2 weeks 4. Pants #2 = Permanently stained with a white glob of unknown origin the size of a nickle. My husband picked up the items after work. He did not see the giant stain. When I brought the stained pants back later that week, the owners were extremely rude. They did not take any responsibility for the stain. I have never been treated so poorly. Needless to say I will never go to Unique Tailor again. The worst customer service I have ever experienced. read more

I took a dress into unique tailor to be taken up because the sleeves kept falling off my shoulders. For some reason they took up at the waist. I paid $55 dollars for this. I was told when I picked up the dress if it didn't fit keep my pink slip and come Back and they would fix it free of charge. I went back in with my pink slip because the sleeves are still falling off my shoulder this time they took up from sleeve. I wasn't told anything about it being more because they are taking up for a different place! Apparently she wrote it on the pink slip which I didn't pay attention to I thought she was just writing what needed to be done. Regardless it's their job to inform your client of increase in pay. It like a body shop replacing something on my car without my consent first. Another thing is how is it my fault they didn't do the job the first time and fix the dress why should I pay another $15 on top the $55 I already paid. That's more than I even paid for the dress! I didn't request where to take up at I only requested they fix the sleeves from falling off my shoulders. It's not my fault you can't do your job correctly the first time and I'm paying for your incapabilities!! Your in customer service and both the manger and Asian lady need to make sure your customers are satisfied!! I completely understand charging me if this was a mess up in my part but this is their mistake and they refused to compromise. Hell I paid the $55 and now I can't get my dress back until I pay the extra $15!! I really don't think this place deserves a 1 star!! DONT USE THIS PLACE!!!! read more

After extensive online research for a tailor in Dallas, I decided to try Unique Tailor out for a few simple alterations. My first round consisted of taking in the sides of a dress shirt. Walking in I was not prepared for the ensuing madness. Since it is a little shop, it was rather cramped with a line out the door and seamstresses hurriedly pinning people. I was a little skeptical to say the least, but I decided to stick with it. The measuring went well, and I felt a little rushed but not too much. I can't comment on turn around because I have not been in a rush for any of my items. When I received my shirt, it was very well tailored and fit excellently. So, I decided to take a round two. Round two consisted of two more dress shirts taken in in the sides and sleeves. The same hurriedly process occurred, but there were very few people in the shop. I think this is where my personality of slow and methodical wants to chime in and disagree with the way things were done, but I do understand that time is money. When I received my shirts, one was a little too tight and one fit well. Neither fit as well as the first shirt. Fortunately, the fitting was not bad enough to warrant a re-alt. Frankly, I was a little nervous for it to be messed up beyond repair. I think if a little more time and care had been taken during fitting, the result would have been better. For some reason, I decided to go for round three. Round three consisted of two pairs of pants taken in in the waist and seat. One was denim and the other cotton chino. Neither turned out well to be honest, but at this point I was losing hope for Unique Tailor. Again, I decided that the fit wasn't too bad since the denim is for relaxing and didn't warrant a perfect fit and the cotton chinos were not my favorite anyways. I am a glutton for punishment, so I decided to send a round four for Unique Tailor to redeem themselves as a dependable tailor. This time I went bare bones with a simple hem on wool trousers. I specifically stated no break several times, even when being asked several times and receiving a questionable look. Alas, upon return these pants had very full breaks. The kicker is I had too much confidence and threw away the pink slip before trying them on. I do not believe I will be back. I've tried several times and the results are hit and miss. Being that it is usually crowded and the fitting is rushed, I don't want to spend the time and money anymore. So what's my advice for you? If you are a man looking for some quick and easy alterations for a good price - check them out and you probably will have mixed results. Just be prepared to wait and then feel rushed depending on the time of day you go. But if you are looking for a proper tailor to really educate you on fit, ask questions, and put care and interest in you - you are not going to find it here. As far as pricing goes, it's fair for what you get, and if you happen to get a hit - it'll be worth it. However, I'm at the point now where I just want it done right so I don't look like a sloppy kid who doesn't care. read more

These guys do good work at a reasonable price. They have a pretty quick turn-around time too. Best tailor around here. My only complaints are that they are ridiculous busy, so the wait is super long. Sometimes the line is out the door. Also, the owners have an attitude, like they are doing you a favor instead of the other way around. read more

This poor review is based on several experiences at Unique Tailor. I have gone back here several time, and each time I've thought that it would get better. I was recommended to this tailor from a friend, that the Yelp reviews are great. But I've not had to bring 4 pairs of pants back to this place to be redone. Three pairs were because they did not properly fit me, and after they made the adjustments, they were still too big. A fourth pair fit, but there were several stray strings hanging from the waist line. After one wash, the hem on this last pair of pants came undone. When I brought them back, they gave me a hard time, because I was a few days outside their standard 30-day policy. If talked to 3 people out my dissatisfaction and they were quite dismissive of me. They made a big deal about me being a few days outside of their standard policy. For this quality of work, and this kind of questionable customer service, I will not go back to this place. read more

I Took my two brides mate dresses here about a week ago to get cut shorter cause they was too long and I askd for it to be done in 3 days they told me yes they can do it.... Mind you it's a tiny place and always Packed and takes forever to get in a dressing room and when i finally get to put on my dresses they start rushing and I ask the guy which I believe he is the manager as he was pinning my dress I told him it looks uneven he said No No don't worry we make even you go put other dress on......Well Of Corse it's my Fault for not being more bitchy at first Cause Turned Out ! the first dress was uneven one side was longer then the other and I had to leave it again! So they can fix their mistake. and the other was too SHORT I was trying to be nice and said I didn't ask for it to be that short they said its not their fault it's just the way the dress is made ?!?!?!?!?!?!? Just to cut these dress short and for them to do a BAD JOB cost 110 i payd 154 cause I left other things for my husband and I even ask to at least discount me for the mistake they made and because I had to leave the other dress to be fixed because it was uneven they lookd at me like I was Rude! And said No we already a discount place witch don't make sense. Cause there full Price! On everything! I'm vary up set for paying so much money they even forced me to pay befor leaving even tho I left the other dress to be refixd and had to come back they wouldn't let me pay when I pickd up the other dress..... They could have been a little bit nicer for basically ruining one dress witch I have to buy another shoe with a shorter hill to wear it and The other I basically can't even wear because it won't be done on time!!!...... I took a bridesmaid dress here to be hemmed recently. It was probably not the easiest dress to hem given the asymmetrical layers, but I had a picture of what the layers of the dress needed to look like and no one there seemed to be able to match the length of the dress to the picture. After taking it back twice to fix, I eventually gave up and took it somewhere else that actually made the length of the dress match the picture. Will not return. read more

I never take the time to write reviews, but this place is so horrible, I hope to save others from making the mistake of going here. They altered a new dress for my daughter, for which I had to pay more than the dress cost. They re-did it but now the zipper is broken and they wanted to charge me another $15 for a new zipper. No thanks - I'll just take it to someone who actually knows what they are doing. The dress was only worn once (before their re-do), so obviously the zipper was broken by them. Best comment and advice I can offer to anyone looking to have alterations done is to NOT go to Unique Tailor. There are plenty of good alteration spots in the Dallas/DFW area but Unique Tailor is not one of them so save yourself from having your clothes reuined. Their quality of work is very poor at best and they often make mistakes, big ones, that will leave your clothes unwearable or in terrible shape. I have given them the benefit of the doubt and given them multiple chances but with each opportunity the quality of their works and their mistakes on my alterations got worse. After they ruined a pair of expensive jeans by completely disregarding the instructions provided on the sheet and leaving me with a pair of $200 jeans that I can never wear again, the staff told me "there is nothing we can do about it." This was the final straw for me after multiple mistakes and terrible services. To make matters worse, their staff are some of the rudest and most unprofessional people I have encountered, especially the short hispanic lady witht the bright colored hair who screams at you every time; she's a very mean and miserable person. There are plenty of professional and reputatble places to have alterations done in Dallas and I would not recommend Unique Tailor as one of them. read more

This place is great for easy things, like $5 hems or button replacement. They are not very good for anything more complicated (having things tailored to fit well, etc.). The turnaround time is decent- usually a few days when you have multiple items, although signs say that you can get same-day hems. Be careful for what kind of hem you ask for, as their non-basic services are not cheap. Lines are long on weekend mornings (mostly people looking for cheap pant hems) but fairly quick at all other times. read more

Original hem for 10 bucks is cheap, and the work is decent. I took my R&R jeans there and they had it done in one day with no extra charge, but the thread work is just a tad bit sloppy. I'm 5'1 and I've never had a pair of jeans fit me just right in my entire life - not even from so-called "petite" jeans so I FINALLY found this place and I was pleasantly suprised. There's a lady who pins your jeans and then you change into other clothes and hand them to the girl at the counter. They told me they would be ready for me as soon as the next day. The whole process (hem and a taper leg) cost me less than $20. $20 to finally have the sort of confidence only a well-fitting pair of jeans can earn you. Thank you Unique Tailor! We went to this place for over 6 years. You learn the most about a business when something goes wrong. They severely miscut my wife's skirt (it was laughably crooked). We took it back, and although they said that they remembered us and the skirt, because we couldn't find the pink slip, they told us that we had to repay to get it fixed. When I tried to logically and very politely explain that it would be better for them to keep us as a customer by fixing the skirt (we gave then a good amount of business over the years), the head lady became very mad and impolite saying that all of her seamstresses are contractors and that, without the pink slip, she'd have to pay out of pocket to have the skirt fixed and there's no way she'd do that. When I asked if she had an electronic record, she became even more angry. Moral of the story, they do great work, until they don't... and then when they don't, do not expect them to fix it. read more

I dropped off a jacket and pair of pants to have them altered and was given a total price of $30 for both. I got there and was told that i had to pay $56. What pissed me off the most was how rude one particular employee was (i think she's the owners wife). She tried to make it seem like I was lying even though I had the ticket that was given to me that clearly showed a total price $30. When I disagreed with the new price she told me to just pay and get out the store. To make matters worse I was given someone else's pants. It took about 15 mins for them to find my pants. I wasn't very impressed with the quality of work. Any trained tailor can do the same. I will NEVER go back there. You will not find a better place for to get your jeans hemmed with the original hem in Dallas. That's their specialty, and it's done at a ridiculously low price. They work in volume, though, so I would hesitate before bringing a really expensive or irreplaceable garment there. read more

Fast and good. You may have to wait a while, but it's worth it. The prices are good. Nordstrom's uses Unique Tailor for their suit alterations. I've never been disappointed with them. I'm taking two Hugo Boss suits in today. read more

Found these guys as D Mags "Best Tailor" around 2010, and have used them extensively. Must say, their work has been faltering as of last 15 mos. Of latest stuff (May 14,2016 pu), one expensive men's coat and suit were fine, but one suit coat was just pathetically done - took in front, but the back was never adjusted properly, crumpled, and clearly never looked at. Be prepared to go back once to have the alterations fixed (after initial) tailoring. They are about 70% on the first time trys - and for the constant line, it's not worth it. They've lost me. I heard this used to be a great place till it was written up in D-Magazine. Now there is constantly a line out the door and you are always rushed in and out. The customer service is poor and the employees are unfriendly. The only nice person in the store is the Asian man who I think is the owner. I've stopped going there because after the 3rd time of not receiving my change, even though it was fairly small amounts, I was well beyond annoyed. It's not about the money but its the principal. Although I use yelp all the time to read reviews, I've never actually left a review, this one is my first :) Anyway I felt the need to because this is the worst tailor you could EVER go to. They know absolutely nothing about customer service, and although they're prices are low it's not worth it. I'd rather pay a couple dollars more than be treated like trash. I own a boutique in uptown Dallas and had been going to unique tailor for 3 years. Anytime a customer accidentally broke a zipper, tore a seam that's where I would take it to be fixed. One day I took a blouse that a customer tore and when I picked it up the blouse had grease stains all over it. I nicely told them that wasn't there when I dropped it off and they told me to come back that night to speak to the owners. The owners kept on repeating that they're an honorable business and have cameras and they didn't do it bla bla bla. The big asian lady who i assume is one of the owners would not let me talk and was doing some unnecessary yelling and many times I asked her if I could speak and she would say yes and 2 seconds later was interrupting again. They flat out told me i was a liar because the blouse was NOT new, like I claimed, because it didn't have a tag on it. These people were extremely rude! And obviously do not know how to speak to people or treat their customer of 3 years. I would NEVER call a customer a liar. They won Best of D this year, but thankfully I have a lot of friends at D Magazine and they will never be winning that again. read more

I have to say I totally agree w some of the others here. This place is outstanding for simple jobs like hemming, original seams, etc, and their turn around time is lightening fast!! However, I feel like they do have a bit of a tough time listening when it comes to more complex jobs (perhaps because there is a line of 25 ppl behind you), but nonetheless. I have taken a few dress skirts and pants there to be taken in at the waist and sides (something that I have been getting done for the past 10 years) and on some of those items have been told by their staff that it can't be done...which I find rather surprising. Other items they re-worked just didn't come out the way I hoped. Anyway, my point is, take your more expensive items & complex jobs elsewhere. read more
