My youngest (19), lets call her Sparrow, had the idea to get a body wax. I am surprised because I never waxed, her older sisters don't wax and we aren't particularly hairy. She said she wanted the "experience" and asked if I'd tag along. Heck why not? I HAD to see this for myself. Mind you, she doesn't use Nair or Neet because "it stings" and is a razor shaver. So we get here and while climbing some stairs to get to the entrance I am dreading what type of hole in the wall we'd be walking into...because there's nothing usually good on the 2nd floor. BUT I WAS WRONG..... I WAS HAPPILY WRONG! This place is beautifully appointed, brightly lit and amazing. The staff are sweet and professional and the hospitality is A1. They offered me CHAMPAIGN...Its just barely noon. The rooms are ultra private with both a curtain and sliding pocket doors, you don't have to worry about being exposed to strangers, which is always good. Ask for Geeta!!! She's amazing!! I have very sensitive skin so usually I'll always flare up red after anything done to my skin. Geeta knows this and is always offering accommodations to help me relax the redness. For threading, she'll offer the ice cube to cool down the redness and for sugaring, she's applying oils after. Normally I don't trust people when they say their Brazilians are 15 mins because there's now way everything can be cleanly done in that short time. I've always had 30 mins Brazilian waxes but after coming to Geeta, they went from 30 to 20 mins to 15 mins. I was so confused today because it was only 8 minutes!! How is that even possible?! When she showed me in the mirror, I was shocked!!! I know it's not realistic to expect 10 mins every time but this was such a relieving wax to experience! Efficient and well taken care of. Came in for Brazilian and stomach strip wax, it was supposed to be 45$ as shown online when I booked my appt. I booked for 6:05pm with Sabeena and was taken in close to 6:30. The staff was friendly so the timing was no issue. As soon as a wax lady became available I was taken to a room by a lady named Geeta, Sabreena did NOT do my wax. Geeta seemed fine, not really kind/friendly just normal I assumed it's whatever she's there to just work get paid she's not being rude. When Geeta asked what kind of wax I asked what kind do they offer she said "chocolate, sugar, cbd" and instantly I said chocolate thinking it was all the same price. I was wrong. I got ready laid down and she went in within seconds, not gentle whatsoever no conversation. From one moment to another I laid down and suddenly felt the wax on me and felt her pull within seconds. I have been waxing for several years now and have not felt the pain I felt with that woman in any other session. She went so fast, without consideration to myself, I went home to realize I had some tears on my skin even applying a cold towel stung. I also realized afterwards I had so many little hairs Incan only assume were snapped bc of how fast she was going or maybe some other reason it really didn't matter to me anymore, I was just glad it was over with. She would not apply pressure after removing a strip and like I said no conversation. At the very end she asked if I wax often and that was it. Part of the experience for me anywhere else is the aesthetician being gentle and conversing to distract from the "pain". Definitely none of that with Geeta. I'm an introvert and do not like confrontation, I personally couldn't say anything and just took it "like a champ" but honestly wanted to cry. Finally I was done and at the reception desk they charged me for "CREME chocolate and stomach strip which came out to $62.... Instead of the $45. I just wanted to get out and didn't question it. She stood right over my shoulder almost hovering as i had to choose how much tip to leave, I have social anxiety and felt pretty much pressured into leaving 20% tip. What I thought was gonna be $45+ tip costed me 30$ more and the one of the worsts experiences of my life. I wish I could say I would like to go back and maybe try with Sabeena (she had 5 stars and many reviews during the booking) but I guess they go with who ever is available first and can not risk it again. Also what's up with the price differences and hovering over while paying with card (did it with everyone paying w/ card)? If it was a good experience I have no issue paying 30$ more but definitely not for an experience like this one. If it wasn't for my experience with Geeta, I would definitely have given this place four or even five stars regardless of my experience with pricing and the hovering and the timing ... bc they (two gentlemen at the desk) were friendly as soon as I walked in, place looked decent, but it was a traumatic experience to say the least and can honestly say I do not know if I would return. Definitely not to see Geeta again. read more

The place seemed nice and modern. I did posted a review on Wednesday 3/13/2024 but I deleted it because I was kind of pressured by Pari. I couldn't leave until she made me write it and post it. I had wrote that she did a good job and it was my first time going there. But she kept telling me to write more which was making me waste more time. I felt annoyed and won't be coming back. I have been getting my lower brows and upper lip threaded for 25+ years. I know the entire process, when done well, takes less than ten minutes. On a recent trip, I was paired with Rita, and she was terrible. Patches everywhere - slow process - multiple do-overs. It's like she didn't care that her work was so sloppy. The only reason I finally gave up and left before feeling satisfied with the result is because I had been in the chair for almost 40 min. I have been visiting this spot on and off, every time I visit family in NYC. Most of the time, the experience is fine. This recent trip insults those who have mastered the craft. I've now been to this location twice and both time I had positive experiences. My brows have really different arches, but both times i got threading here they were able to clean up my eyebrows and smooth out the differences between them. This most recent time, Queen helped me out and she was great. She told me about chocolate waxing, which I had never heard of, but was way less painful and faster than regular waxing. This is an update! Again, as stated in my previous review, this salon is amazing!! Super clean, very spacious, excellent staff, and reasonable pricing! I raved about Kaavya on my last review, she did a wonderful job on my Brazillian bikini wax. She recommended the 'chocolate wax' for $50. This time I booked with Geeta, and I also think Geeta is phenomenal! Geeta suggested the 'sugaring' for $45 for my Brazillian bikini wax, which I now prefer! Even though the 'chocolate wax' was great for sensitive skin, the 'sugaring' process was even more gentle and I see smoother results w/less ingrown hairs or redness (it's even cheaper!). Geeta really knows how to handle the sugaring, she's very knowledgeable about it. I'm very happy with my results! She also did 'eyebrow threading' on me, and my eyebrows look perfectly polished for $12! I highly recommend both Geeta & Kaavya on Brazillian bikini wax; Geeta also does an excellent eyebrow threading! read more

This review is only for eyebrow threading: I have been very pleased with Unique Threading Salon. I've been to this location several times and another location as well. The service has been consistent - fast and efficient. Unlike the previous place I was frequenting, they are professional, and respect their customers time. They do a great job and the prices are fair as well. I have never had to wait more than 10 minutes or so. The salons are spacious, well lit and clean. The customer service is great as well. Their hours are great, they're open late and you don't need to make an appointment for eyebrows. As other reviewers have mentioned, they have a stamp card, and you'll get your 10th threading for free. I'm not a student, but they do have a 20% off deal for students for threading, 10% off for waxing. I haven't had any other services done here, but will continue to come back for eyebrow threading. read more
