At least we never got a chance to board this dangerous flaming plane !
    Alan C.

Flying back home to SF on a clear Tuesday AM. Arrived early and waiting at the gate in concourse B when we notice some commotion look out the window and our airplane has burst into flames ! Yes,....flames were pouring out the back end of the parked airplane as they were loading our bags and preparing to start loading passengers ! Fire engines and firefighters swarmed the plane as we sat horrified that a few hours later that could have been us in the air ! We had that happen to us a few years ago on a flight from Newark, NJ to SF and glad this one happened before we took off. Customer service has been ZERO. Left to fend for ourselves on an app. Had to ask for help re luggage and still waiting to hear from the operator who put me on infinite hold via the 1K number ! Boy they really don't want returning business anymore ! Horrific service, old planes that spontaneously combust on the tarmac and not a word of apologies or understanding. Went to the UA Lounge for help w my ticket and since I haven't renewed my membership this year (tired of bad service and prepackaged food) was treated like dirt by the desk staff. 1K means nothing anymore. We will increasingly take our business elsewhere - friendly skies my ass ! Try another airline....

Back in the day, I used to fly a lot on United, traveling with them primarily to Chicago, LA, Dulles, and various Asian cities. However, with the rise of airlines such as Jetblue and Virgin America, along with choosing other airlines for international flights, I've considered United as a secondary option, even though I had quite a few miles with the legacy carrier. My past experiences were mixed, though nothing as horrific as my experiences with Delta. Long story short: Delta made me spend Christmas eve at JFK (the horror!) and ALL Christmas on the plane. I recently had to fly with United and it was the first time since the United Continental merger. So yeah, it's been a while. It's nice to see the airline having a newly-built modern terminal with more organized and roomy gates for boarding. The plane I took was clearly a Continental holdover and so was its crew (I'm guessing they were from the old Houston hub). So I don't want to give full credit to United. The ride was okay, though bumpy throughout. The service was rather nice, as the flight attendants were polite and professional, which is all I require. Having electrical outlets with every seat was a pleasant bonus. The shock for me during my ride, more than the turbulence endured, was the fact that you had to pay to watch television, not just movies. Having flown Jetblue and Virgin a lot the past several years, I took that privilege for granted. Lastly, the legroom was lacking in comparison to the two other mentioned airlines. I checked-in for a boarding pass online, I didn't check-in a bag, and I had my boarding pass on my phone app, so I limited my interaction with ground staff to almost zero, which was likely good for all parties concerned. United is still a secondary option for me, but my experience wasn't as bad as I previously feared.

I have mixed feelings about my recent United experience. I ended up purchasing a cyber Monday deal and I scored a really really cheap one way ticket to Denver. To put things into perspective - half the shoes in my closet cost more than this flight. It was an economy ticket- meaning I got no perks. Which was fine - I wasn't bringing luggage, But - I could not check in online. I could not check in at a kiosk. I had to have a customer service person check me in. Who pretty much said to me "you purchased a scum of the earth cheap bastard seat. I have to check you in to make sure you don't try to sneak luggage on the plane ". When it came time to board the plane, I didn't like my assigned seat, so I asked the gate attendant if I could change. She pretty much said to me "you purchased a scum of the earth cheap bastard seat. Your not allowed to pick your seat and I'm not allowed to change it". But she changed it anyway. The flight was fine. And in the end I had a decent seat. But jeez - united offered the cheap flights. Why treat me like crap for buying it? I'm just glad I'm flying a different airline home.

    Worst airline ever!!!

The Spirit Airlines website was super easy to navigate. I got on, created my account, booked my flights, and was all set within a matter of minutes. The confirmation provided all the details for my flight and my gmail was able to pull the details and add it to my calendar. 24 hours before my flight, the check-in reminder came and the checking process was super easy. I didn't have any changes or additions so I was checked in within a minute. Arriving at the gate was vibrant as the Spirit Airlines yellow set the tone for the area. The lines were long but the staff was smiling and friendly. As it came time to board, I was a part of Group 5 which is the bulk of flyers. Though the line was about 3 gates long, the Spirit Airlines staff had an efficient process for getting us out the gate area and onto the aircraft. Of course you can't do anything about the people who hold up the line, but the Spirit Airlines gate agents even had a process for them to step to the side. Woo Hoo! Once on board, the plane is standard size, and the seats aren't as tight as I have heard. I'm 6' 3" and though I didn't have ample space, I didn't feel like I was being crushed either. The seats don't have as much cushion as some of the other airlines, however, my butt didn't start to hurt until I was 2.5hrs into my 3hr flight, so I was good. The Spirit Airlines Flight Attendants are unique in style esthetic, however, their service was industry standard and they always appeared with a smile. As you pay for everything on the flight, the process of purchasing is easy and swift. The pilot was professional and ensured we had a smooth flight into the Boston area. He kept us abreast of weather changes, altitude changes, and gave us ample time to prepare for landing. I deplaned without incident and went on about my day. My return flight to Atlanta was the same experience quality. Coming back, I did add a carry-on ($70) and it was easy to add it during my check in process. Once at Logan, the kiosk was unable to scan my boarding pass, however the ticketing attendant put in my confirmation number and I was good to go. I tagged my bag, headed to the counter, dropped it off, and was on my way to security within 3 minutes. Thank you Spirit Airlines for the safe trip and streamlined standard operating procedures. You and the staff are appreciated.

The IFE was decent and the legroom was okay. However, the recline from the front was quite substantial, which doesn't give you much room to get out or to maneuver. The real issue I had was the amount of delays. Of the four flights I took with Lufthansa, three of them were delayed. Not great. I had to make a connection at Frankfurt, and the Lufthansa app gives you directions to navigate from where you arrive to the gate for the next flight. This is a unique service offered only on the A321T and offered only from Boston to LAX, JFK to LAX, and JFK to SFO and JFK to SNA. The A321T is uniquely configured with Flagship First, Flagship Business, and economy. The amenities and seating in the premium cabins is much more akin to a widebody aircraft with lie-flat seating offered in first and business and seatback screens throughout the aircraft. Sadly, these aircraft will soon be retired as AA moves toward eliminating Flagship First systemwide. The seating in first is 1-1 which offers a lot of privacy. The seatback screen is large and high definition with a wide selection of movies and other entertainment options. Noise cancelling B&O headsets are also distributed. The meal service in first is enhanced versus what is offered in business including higher end touches on the meal tray like individual salt and pepper shakers and a metal napkin holder. There is also actual champagne in first versus prosecco in business. There is also a soup course in first which is not offered in business. The flight attendant was great and offered an attentive and premium service. Baked on board cookies are also offered prior to arrival. Overall, this was a great transcon flight on AA. We started out with a good flight to our destination, and our return flight was nothing but a nightmare. We were trying to book an earlier flight to get home before midnight, and in doing so the American Airlines system allowed us to book, and charge us for a flight that was already delayed. As we arrived at the airport we then had to check in with guest services, which took a while as NO ONE knew where we were to go, to get the flight changed. Mind you still being charged an additional fee for changing the flight to a flight that was ideally no longer available. Followed by then paying for two bag fees and then finally getting a new flight, with a layover. Once we arrived in our final destination, I was then presented with a text message saying that one of our bags was delayed. Trying to get that bag delivered to our home has been nothing but a complete mess, as nobody actually knows where our bag is and how to get it to us. They're completely incompetent through the phones and the chat system. This is the WORST experience we have ever had with an airline and I am still without my bag after 2 days. With all of the technology and delivery systems these days, this is absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable. We will never use this Airline again, very unreliable and unprofessional.
