I've been coming here for a few years, mostly for smog but I've had U.A.S. do some other work on my vehicles and am always satisfied. Honest and up front, that's what you want with a mechanic. The Good: pretty much all the work they do is good work. Never had a complaint or issue. The pricing is always fair, and the customer service is always pleasant. Like I said, they are fair and honest. Mechanics don't last long and this one has been here for years (see picture) Rick helped me out this time with some smog and tire repair, but all their reps are awesome! The Bad: sometimes it can take a little longer than expected but it's gonna be shorter than other places. The Ugly: the grease stains on the floor? Idk this place is really clean. The bathroom I suppose could use a little work but it's a mechanic shop, why are you spending time in the bathroom? I had issue with my car and was towed to this location by AAA. My mistake was I trusted AAA for referral. Busy and had to wait for a day before they were able to look at the car. UAS wanted $3000 when I ended up paying $1700 somewhere else. They charged me $288 for inspection and diagnostics. Very expensive. read more

I literally paid $500.00 for them just to let me know my car is leaking fluids, and to fix a service engine light. Then, it was going to cost me $1,500.00 to fix a few hoses that were leaking fluids. BEWARE OF UNITED AUTO SERVICE! a good friend recommended United Auto Service. I asked for a simple brake check and a transmission fluid check. I got neither of these done because the price quote ( given AFTER they checked my car out) came back at around $1700. that was for front and rear brake pads. plus trans fluid and filter change only! I did have them replace a broken piece of plastic trim on the side of the front seat, a spring on my gas filler door, and the small plastic ford emblem on the tail gate, and do an oil change. I was expecting the bill to be about $300-$400. when I got it, my bill was $828. which included $252 for simply "inspecting" the transmission. what fool would agree to pay $252 just to have someone check the transmission??? yet the service writer stood in front of me with a straight face and swore he told me all the prices ahead of time. I do not have money to throw away. I do not go back to places that rip me off or blatantly lie to me. I could have gone to a dozen reputable places and had my transmission looked at for free. if a service writer overcharges you and oversells you it's probably because they are on commission. STAY AWAY FROM UNITED AUTO SERVICE! THEIR PRICES ARE OUTRAGEOUS. And if they treat you like they treated me you'll be writing one of these reviews too. beyond disappointed. read more

Today marks the second time in a year that I've called to ask them to stop calling and stop sending letters about an extended warranty. We didn't purchase the extended warranty when we bought the vehicle, we're not doing it now. We don't want it, we don't need it. Mechanics in the family. On my way back from LA, my car broke down and got stalled on the side of the freeway. Totally scary moment for me and I had no idea what happened - neither did AAA when I called them so they towed my car back to OC and at this approved AAA shop. I called while on the way and they were very professional - gave me some ideas about what might be happening and were ready to receive me with we arrived. They were really busy that day but told me my car was in the queue, gave me a ride back home, and then called to give me the bad news - my car is old and basically just needed a complete overhaul. Boo. I told Rick I'm not rich and to give me the lay down so he did. Found the parts for the best cost and considering all that needed to be done, I was really surprised at the turn around time. I needed a timing belt, water pump, alternator hose, some gaskets, and a thermostat to get my baby purring like new again. The job took two days but they kept me informed the entire time, gave me a sweet discount for being an AAA member, and kept it honest. Also took the time to explain how the car parts worked, what work was being done, and how to keep this from happening again. I seriously couldn't be happier with the work that they did and will be back for other small maintenance things. read more

This review is not meant to deface or belittle United Automotive Repair shop, this is my frustration with their strict stance. I've been bringing our company car here for repairs for several years. They do very very good work, their auto techs are very skilled. What pisses me off is the fact that we loyal patrons have to pay the almost double uprated cost for part that they buy to install on our vehicles. These are extremely tough times thanks to China's covid dispersment. We are NOT allowed to provide our own car parts for reasons I cannot get a solid answer for. Example I had a leaky AC distrabution hose replaced and the price was THREE TIMES the cost, for an equivalent hose from Hoseman. THREE TIMES the cost, the labor cost I have no problem with at all. A OEM AC Distribution hose for my car from hoseman, or any supplier is on average $45.00. In addition the rotors and calipers for the front of our car need to be replaced, I asked if they will rebuild the calipers amd and replace the rotors with my own supplied equipment, from PEPBOYS Brake Stop line. Nope, United says NO! I asked can you make a recommendation to a repair shop that will do my brake work, AGAIN NO... This is just poor quality customer service. Net2U caters to our clients needs if they want to supply their own pc equipment and want us to upgrade or install it. We are extremely happy to have their business. If we cannot provide a service or fill a need, we have recommendations to supply them with information to trust worthy service providers thay can give them what we cannot. Theres more than enough business for everyone, and the customer is Our reason for being, we greatly acknowledge this as a fact. Untited Auto Repair makes us feel like they just do not give a damn about what best suits our needs financially. Its their way or hit the highway. It's getting harder and harder to stay loyal to this company, as I said they do very good work, but so do a lot of other service shops. United Auto loosen up on your stance, allow your loyal clients whom Are Your Reason For Being to bring in our own hardware if we want too. Even Oil Changes is like pulling teeth without pain killer applied first. I have to wrestle to just get them to use my own Mobile synthetic oil and K&N oil filter. IF you do not mind to pay their expensive uprated pricing for hardware replacement then I recommend United Auto Repair, nut for all their strict stance you can pay the same prices as the dealers service cost. If you want to provide your own hardware to be installed, do not even come to United Auto Repair They will give you a vehement No. read more

I've taken multiple vehicles to these guys over the years and have NEVER felt taken advantage of or like they were just trying to get money out of me. Awesome service. I took my Ford F-350 in for a coolant leak. Chris called and told me it was the primary water pump. He asked when I bought my truck. He discovered it would probably be covered on warranty. I called Ford. He was right. He saved me thousands of dollars. What a great honest man. They also did a front brake job on the truck. My car got a tear in a hose, so naturally the engine had all this pressure in it and started to smoke, green radiator fluid started coming out of my car all over. I called AAA and had my car towed here. I walk into the door and some jackass basically tells me he's already BEHIND on his schedule and has no time for my car and for how long it would take, also suggesting I leave it overnight which wasn't an option for me. Understandable, but his tone of voice was very demeaning towards me (I am only 18) it is no excuse. I caught my tow truck driver and told him to take me to a new place. We ended up right across the street at Auto Pros complete auto repair, they took me in right away and were more than happy to do it. Very hospitable and kind, I recommend going there instead. read more

One awful cold Thursday evening, my car decided to give out on the middle of the 5 S... I had no idea what was going on, and my car wouldn't start. I ended up calling a tow truck to drop it off overnight and left my keys along with a note about what happened in their office. Steve called me the next morning right when they opened and explained to me that even if I didn't get my car serviced here, there was a diagnostic fee of $108 I would be responsible for and that he would call back to get verbal consent before they do any work on it. A few hours later, he called me with the diagnostic (cracked radiator) and the estimate. I decided to get my car serviced here and picked it up early Saturday morning. Steve was GREAT with explaining what happened with my car, and even kept the parts to show me what was cracked and all the work the mechanic had to do. Flash forward 3 days... I was driving to work on Monday and my warning lights for the exact problem before (radiator) went on again, naturally I was FLIPPING out thinking my car would give out for the second time, and called the shop to ask what to do. An hour later Steve called me for a follow up to make sure I got to work okay and told me to bring my car by for a scan. Not only did he do a follow up for that morning, but he called me a couple days after he scanned my car to ensure I wasn't having any other problems with it. Moral of the story: I was VERY reluctant to get my car serviced here because the price seemed a little high, but after receiving their service, I wish I could give this place 6 stars! AMAZING group of guys!! As a girl I was apprehensive taking my car in as I fully admit I know nothing about it. However these guys walk you through everything, are never pushy and are truly there to make sure your car is running in tip top shape without recommending unnecessary repairs. The facility is clean and comfortable and if you live / work within the surrounding area offer a shuttle service...who does that ?! That right there shows you how trust worthy they are. I have been taking my car here for years and have always felt taking care of. Thank you UAS for taking care of my and all my friends and families vehicles- you guys are awesome, wouldn't go anywhere else !!! My car had shut down on the side of the freeway so called AAA where they sent me here. Let them do a diagnostic on it since the car had been making a slight knocking noise when it started but idled totally fine. I left my car there and waited for a call that I literally got a couple hours after I dropped it off. They told me that I shouldn't even put any money into the engine and too just go straight to getting a new one.... which immediately made me uneasy. They tried to quote me about 5k-6k for a used one on the phone which was ridiculous and made me think... did they even really give an effort on diagnosing it? Because no one told me why it was making the noise they just went straight to "buying a new engine." I asked what else they can do to dig deeper into the engine and really figure out the problem. So they said they needed to check the gasket and valves which would cost me $720. Which is outrageous. And that's just to TRULY figure out what's wrong. So I took my truck to another shop and told them the same thing. The new shop actually took there time diagnosing it and found out it was some camshaft issues and my timing belt and now it'll only cost me $280. Moral of the story, since I'm just a 22 year old kid, they figured why not just take the easy route and tell him the engine blew out. Not a lot of professionalism is roaming around that shop because it was pretty easy for the other shop to notice the problem. Also since this is an AAA approved shop, even the tow guys recommended it and almost force it upon you to go here. Not a good shop to go to when you have a bigger problem then just some brakes or tires cause I almost just got screwed. read more

These guys are great! They saved me from shelling out ~$200 for a new camber kit that another shop told me I need in order to get an alignment done on my Infiniti. I have been going to United Auto for the last three years and I have been grateful for every single Interaction I have had with them, at BOTH locations in Laguna Hills and Orange. They treat their customers well, they are honest and fair with quotes and pricing, and they can work relentlessly to resolve the most trying vehicle issues. I own a 15+ year old vehicle and the last two years of it's life are owed to the great work done by United to trouble shoot many smog and electrical malfunctions. I am impressed by their timeliness and they all (Rick at Laguna Hills and Chris and Andrew at Orange) take the time to explain the problem, the fix, and the pricing whenever I ask. My car was towed to United automotive Service after breaking down outside my office just 2 miles away. When I called AAA they asked if I would like one of their recommended repair facilities and this is where I ended up. Since it was after repair hours, the car would not be looked at until the next morning. My first thought is that they might give me a huge list of other things wrong with the car (as is the case at other repair shops I've been to) but it wasn't that way at all. Their work was thorough and fast. I didn't realize that AAA really insures their facilities are reputable, and I can verify that this is quite true by my experience here. I was very happy with my service today, as well as with the person who helped me, Brent. I procrastinated in getting my smog check and before I knew it, I had to have it done before tomorrow. So I went to get a smog check during my lunch break and was worried it might take longer than my allotted lunch time. But I was in and out of there within the hour! Also they accommodated me even though I just walked in without an appointment. The price was the cheapest among the other smog check places I called on the smog check list, and the gentlemen there, especially Brent, were super kind and friendly. Great service!!!! I brought in my Jeep for an oil change and the gentlemen at the front desk called me to let me know it was completed and that there was a leak in the front differential. I asked him to give me an estimate when I come into the shop to pick it up. When I arrived, he gave me the estimate and also told me that it might still be under the power train warranty and to take it to the dealer first. I had a friend refer me. I knew I had issues with my trucks suspension so I wanted it fixed before I sold it, (I mentioned this to the counter staff). They replaced my upper right ball joint, when I got my truck back my steering wheel was at a 45 degree to the right. I was told that was common and to fix it I needed an alignment. I also needed tires so I bought tires from United Automotive Service and payed to have them balanced and the truck aligned. I paid my bill and everything was fine until I got up to 50-53 mph and the steering wheel would shake uncontrollably. I assumed I had thrown a weight that made one of my tires out of balance. I contacted Chris at UAS and he told me to bring it in and leave for a day, (when my truck is in the shop I don't make money). I bring it in early and had to call around 3pm to see if my issue has been fixed, Chris tells me, 'they did find some tiny balancing issue but it did not fix the problem'. I needed my truck for work so I had my wife drop me off to pick it up. I asked them what is the issue if you cant fix it, they told me they could pull apart the suspension. I assumed it would cost me extra money, so I took my truck home, and to work the next day and beyond. After 2 months and countless people telling me it is a tire balance issue I contacted United Automotive to see if they could fix it: Here is the excuses I received from Chris, - your truck is old - your suspension is worn out - you were going to sell it - you bought our cheapest tires After hearing the whining, excuses and mewling from United. I decided to take my truck somewhere else. I spent $75 to balance all 4 tires and my steering wheel does not shake anymore at any speed, (2 hour wait time). They also did a free alignment check and my front right is towed out, I did pay for alignment didn't I..? When you pay a company to do something and they get it wrong twice and lie to you, get a new company. read more

I've been bringing my car here for about 3 years; I grew up in Texas and attended Chapman University so the location was convenient as a student and a friend recommended them. I have to say they have always helped me with small things but just now I have really been disappointed. I was just on the phone with Chris and was speaking very calmly and politely. He completely interrupted me and proceeded to TALK OVER ME as I was trying to say, "excuse me" because he was responding passive aggressively to what he THOUGHT I was talking about. I am still very upset that as someone who is taking my money he thought it acceptable to not only interrupt but to speak over me as I continually said, "excuse me." When he finally stopped talking and I mentioned what I was actually going to say he finally said, "Oh. Okay." I will be taking my business elsewhere as a short tire change shouldn't have taken as long as it did and no one should be that rude to a paying customer, especially when they have been polite and patient in return.
