Great company!! We loved doing business with Rick. After signing the contract it took a while for our windows to come. We have 22 windows that's probably why. But it was worth it. There was one window we needed sooner than the rest (we remodeled our kitchen) I think we called Rick to check up on the window about twice a week. We didn't want to be left without a window. It was a urgent mater. He never got rude or impatient with us. After dealing with contractors believe me some lose their patience. He didn't. Then when it was time to install the windows his team member Lazaro realized my contractor installed my kitchen window wrong (he could of said nothing but he chose to do the right thing) and fix it. The owner, Rick is the sales staff and he carries samples with him for each quote! After scheduling a visit, Rick arrived at our home to give us a estimate to replace 10 original windows and 2 sliding glass doors in our 1964 home. He throughly explained the different types if products available with demonstrations including product efficiency ratings and after a very informative presentation, we chose the Anlin-Malibu Collection. Less than a week later, Mark came out to measure for the new windows and after completing the task, he informed us it would be about 30 days for the windows to arrive from Anlin. However only about three weeks passed before the windows came in and we were able to schedule the installation the next day! Friendly installers Kim and his son arrived that morning and wasted no time getting to work and the whole job was completed in two days! We had gotten a few quotes to replace the windows & 2 sliding doors, but no company would do the reduction in size that we wanted for one of our doors. I was happy to find UB because not only were they willing & capable to do the construction, Rick the owner was super friendly & knowledgeable. We ended up going with the Anlin windows, they are beautiful & i already notice way less noise & dust! Yay! Plus they have a great warranty Incase any of the glass breaks. Rick, and his crew, especially, Lazaro and Daniel, are top-shelf. If you're reading this review, I would assure you of a couple of matters, and this review regards retrofitting windows. One, you get what you pay for. The pricing here is very competitive, and will initially read as low as others. Having said that, that Rick will strike you a competitive estimate has more to do with United's reputation with others in the community and with the window manufacturers. Second, this crew is meticulous and efficient. Daniel and his guys: wow. If they didn't like something about the way the window sat in the frame or some adjustment they made wasn't to their standards, they would deal with it instantly. I looked at some adjustments they made, and thought, "Really?" But, every single window works beautifully, looks splendid, and the whole atmosphere of our home--the indoor climate, really--just went from dismal to elegantly comfortable on the warmest of days or the coldest of nights. I'd give these guys six stars out of five if possible. It is nice to have people who take pride in their work. United Builders just completed installing windows at our cabin at Mt. Baldy. The entire crew was totally professional throughout the 3 day process. The cabin is located on the side of a mountain with an uphill path, but they never complained or commiserated as they carried all the windows and all their tools up the long trail. The men were very accommodating, allowing us time to complete the priming and painting of the additional trim that had to be installed, some of it at the second story level. Their workmanship was excellent, making certain that the gaps were insulated and that there was ample silicon applied. The windows operate flawlessly and look beautiful. After a lot of research we settled on Anlin windows and United Builders for the house we purchased in Laguna Hills. The house had been neglected for several years by the previous owner, there was significant damage to all windows. The entire experience with United Builders (especially Rick) was outstanding. My friend seemed very pleased with the work they did at his mom's house and the quality of the windows installed, so I gave United Builders a call. We've used Rick from United Builders twice now to install new Anlin windows in our house. We did our windows over a three year period. The first year we used American Vision Windows. The service was great, but the price was high. It doesn't make any sense to pay a salesman 10-20% in commission just to measure and give you a quote. A year later we were ready to do another round of windows and luckily I came across United Builders just as I was about to sign with AVW again. I'm so glad I used United Builders. Rick is the owner and does all the estimates himself. Since he's the owner, he's been able to cut out the middle man, the salesman, and give you a better price for the same product. I was in the market to buy windows and a friend of mine had referred me to a company named Everlast. They came down gave me a quote and for some reason the phone lines were down that night for the hero program so we couldn't complete the forms. I took that as a sign from up above and decided to look on yelp to get a second quote. Fellow Yelpers once again came through with United Builders five star reviews. Update(see initial review I wrote): the business owner contacted me and insisted I take down my initial review. (Like a few other fellow yelpers stated in their review as well). He explained that Daisy is a mom and has a baby, therefore she isn't doing the best job. Yes... lots of women are moms.. we work, parent, clean, cook, etc. There is no excuse. There are MANY working mothers out there that are able to balance the whole working mom routine, so Daisy is no exception. Sorry, she shouldn't be working if she can't balance it. Also, he stated that this week has been the slowest week he's ever had and said it's all thanks to my review. I then told him that I doubt ONE review is going to cause that. He then asked what it will take for me to remove my review. And I told him nothing, I refused to remove my review. I then explained to him how I rely on fellow yelpers to give their honest opinions/experiences to help me decide on which business I want to work with. He explained that if I don't remove my review, that he will not have jobs to support the 13 men that work for him. And that if they can't provide for their families then it's on me. Then continued to tell me (a few times) that my actions have consequences. So it's allllll on me because I posted one honest review. Now, after speaking to him I STRONGLY suggest you don't work with this company. Not only because of the bad scheduling service but also because the owner can't let people give honest reviews about his company and turns into a bully. I'm sorry but that won't work on me! Now we are adding to our home, we decided on United builders, totally different service. Rick express himself in a different manner. He simply lost respect toward his clients. As a thermal engineer I can get a bit geeky about windows; but short story is United Builders was excellent from beginning to end, would choose them again and again. Long story :-) : Rick helped with loan options, and explained different product choices. Provided expert measurements and install (18 windows and sliding glass door done in just over one day); all for what I thought was the best price and quality after five different quotes, both local and larger distributors. We replaced all thin aluminum dual panes windows (which just popped out, were not even fastened to wall so security just improved too) plus sliding glass door. Energy efficient is clear improvement. General web research estimates 30% efficiency improvement for windows and am guessing that is about right, maybe better in our case. The difference between glass temperature and walls improved from 5-7 deg to 1-2deg; and on sliding glass door the glass temp is same as the wall temp, which kinda shocked me how good that is. We used to freeze just sitting in front of that door and now it's even temp and much less heater use, looking forward to much improved energy bills. Also lifetime warranty on windows. read more
