Okay sometimes I crave UDF over Graeters. Did I just say that? Do I hear a boo? Am I going to lose all my reputation for that statement? To be honest, it's true. Like I want that tiramisu! I crave that cookies and cream. I have fantasies involving their sundaes and shakes. And if only I could drown in the magic of their donuts! Maybe it's because of all the nostalgia from my UC years, their special offers on icecream, those midnight strolls to curb midnight hunger pangs. UDF is integral to me. I LOVE the sheer variety and options they have for icecream and the pints for both icecream and froyo. Tiramisu being my absolute favorite! And their donuts!? Amazingly delicious! This is also a lowkey grocery store where you can pickup basics like bread, milk and eggs. Their chocolate milk is insanely good! Only con: they do need a better washroom. Like I felt disgusted using it once. Also the service should be better, some of them come across as rude. read more

I've cone to this UDF for family ice cream nights for as long as I can remember. And now that I have my own kiddos, my husband and I bring them here. The milk shakes here are amazing because they're so customizable. Why get a boring peanut bitter shake with vanilla ice cream and regular milk when you could gEt one made with there 75 Candles (Oreo birthday cake ice cream) and chocolate milk? That's my personal favorite. Hubby loves their eggnog shake over the holidays. And my boy would drink just about any of them. Lol It's always worth checking out their advertised specials. For instance, on our most recent visit, there were two good deals.... 1. $2.99 double scoop sundaes! You can do two different ice creams, any sauce with whipped cream and a cherry! 2. Use their app and work your way to $0.50 off/gallon of gas once you've purchased four cones over the course of a month! (but note that this particular UDF isn't a gas station, unlike most others). On my most recent visit, my little boy enjoyed the pumpkin pie ice cream. I was surprised it was still available in late January! I got two of my reoccurring favorites - PB Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough and 75 Candles. I topped that with their yummy peanut buTter sauce. No gas here, but otherwise they get the job done. It's a UDF, as you would expect: a convenience store with ice cream. Getting in and out of the lot can be treacherous, so keep your head on a swivel and keep an eye out for drunk college kids and pandering beggars. read more

For some reason this location makes me feel like I'm back in the 50's. I think because I used to live in the gaslight district and on warm summer nights my bf and I would go for a scoop here to end our date nights. This location is unlike any other UDF I have ever been to. The architecture of the building is very unique and it seems to be way cleaner that others. There is usually parking, (they have their own lot) and the service is always friendly. What I love about UDF is that they always have seasonal ice cream and deals! For example when we went any berry scoop was buy one get one free! I usually get a cone or a pink cow made with Barqs red creme soda. YUM! UDF has always been my favorite Cincinnati ice cream. Graters is way too rich for me. If you like fresh seasonal flavors and old school charm this location is for you! read more

I've personally come to this UDF for years given it's close proximity to UC, the Esquire and Skyline. Out of all the UDFs this particular one has the most consistent quality when it comes to a proper milkshake. I ordered a chocolate shake to be made with both chocolate ice cream and chocolate milk and it was simply divine. The staff is friendly and I would recommend this UDF to anyone. I stopped in at 9:30 PM. First stop was men's room before making my selections. I was informed by a worker, "the bathroom is closed for the day". Really? I will spend my $5.00 elsewhere. What came first -- the gas station or milkshakes? I'm really hoping it was milkshakes, then UDF realized, "hey our milkshakes are a boon, let's add gas pumps to those malty milky coattails!" I really cannot go any further without recognizing the amazing fact of: "We'll upsize any order you make for free!" Wait. What? So if I order a large, you give me an extra large? For no charge? Big question: *Do you ask if I want an upsize, or do you take the carte blanche to give me a giant malt?* Just curious.... Post Reds, post bar, post Terry's Turf Club, pre road trip... there is something mighty necessary: a UDF shake. On this occasion... a malt. A cappucino malt. Upsized to XL, at no charge. When I lived hear... they scored because I was on a major Grippo + Red Bull kick, and well... they're a pretty supreme supplier of said addiction. By all means get gas here... but I think it's pretty funny to go get ice cream at a gas station and not get gas. I distinctively feel five on these occasions. And I like that. For me, being able to get ice cream 24 hours a day is heaven. Pure heaven. This UDF location is not only large, but the staff is very quick even when the lines are long. There are lots of steals when it comes to ice cream specials - usually you can get two pints of ice cream for $5 (or less!). The only thing that knocks it down from a 5-star rating is the parking situation. The lot is god-awful, which is why I'm thankful I can walk there from my apartment. read more

I live in Clifton so I stop here all the time for snacks and beverages. The staff at 11:00 at night is pleasant enough to deal with sober me stopping for snacks and bevvies after work and the drunks that come in-also for snacks. They also have regulars that stop in. The staff knows their names and has shorts chats that make me feel happy to be living in a place like Clifton (just commercial enough but still very neighborly). It is usually clean and has just enough parking (maybe about 8-12 spaces) that there is at least one to park in. There are often cops at this location, for both snacks and safety, I believe. So, if you're about to throw up, be disorderly, or smoke weed; don't do it here. read more

Stopped in, after a movie last week (Saturday, July 4, 2021) and was met with a rude employee, around 9:15 p.m. This week (9:30 a.m., Saturday, July 10th, -- the same thing, except there were TWO rude guys. UDF - the ice cream parlor. I love this place because it is open 24 hours. Huge plus where very few stores are open late in the area (walking distance) outside Sitwell's and Skyline. But I want ice cream! UDF has ice cream. The flavors are hit and miss. I just had the Blue Moo Cookie Dough - never again. But the Caramel Cone Crunch is one of my favorite ice cream flavors - ever. They do shakes, they do scoops (or dips, whichever term you enjoy). Now, UDF - the convenience store. The milk and OJ are reasonably priced as well as their beer and soda. Their food is insanely overpriced. I guess that's what you get for a convenience store, eh? A box of Lucky Charms for $5 (maybe $5.50). I was shocked. It wasn't even the family sized box. Their snacky food tends to be pricey - but the worst is the freezer pizzas! They're almost 150% more expensive than the similar product at Kroger. UDF - the convenience store, clearly markets to the late night food munchies and it knows that those food items should be priced accordingly. It is comforting to know however that UDF does carry very basic OTC drugs and other personal items (if you know what I mean!) which comes in handy for that late night fling or that migrane that pops up at midnight - and alas, you're out of ibuprofen and CVS is closed. UDF is certainly a mixed bag. Be informed, you may pay a premium on some items. But the ice cream definitely makes this store a staple of the Clifton area! read more

To most Americans, or just most people in general, the combination of the letters u-d-f doesn't mean much. To those of us in Ohio, though, UDF conjures up the need for a good old fashioned dairy fix. I almost always go for a chocolate peanut butter milkshake, while my wife prefers the malt version. The hand dipped selection is always great, too, especially the Blue Moo Cookie Dough (a UDF twist on the classic flavor). Did you know that UDF is equally responsible for the Premium Homemade ice cream you can buy in stores? I'm also kind of partial to the branding. Although the Clifton location wasn't exactly my usual UDF haunt, they're pretty standard across the board - I'll contribute my review to the most frequently-rated spot. And so... First of all, UDF is probably the best convenience store in the area - stocked with the usual gas station goods. Minor automotive supplies, beverages, candies, all and sundry - they've got it. But I'm going to focus on the ice cream, here - locals know that this is a wonderful spot for a quick, quality pick-me-up (mostly at all hours, day and night). A true boon in a "roll up the sidewalks at 5" kind of town. Their chocolate malts are almost unbelievably prime, especially considering that this is, after all, a convenience store. Their own brand of ice cream is top-notch, and paired with chocolate syrup and plentiful malt powder... you have a delicious result. Of course, they're happy to make a custom flavor for you (my brother is exceedingly fond of a good peanut-butter shake), but I prefer to keep it simple... a little extra malt powder, if anything. Wonderful stuff. They do offer take-home packages of ice cream in freezers, usually with one or two selections on sale. Frozen malts and shakes are there as well, if you're in a particular hurry. If you're a local, this review is basically preaching to the choir. If you're an out-of-towner who hasn't tried these, I implore you to do so. Cincinnati is a town known for serious comfort food - UDF's malts and other sweet offerings never fail to please. read more

First time trying United Dairy Farmers. Just moved to Cincinnati and I heard this was an ice cream must. There was a great range of specialty flavors. My wife and I sampled many of them and they all tasted very good. I eventually settled on Oatmeal cookie doe and my wife did a caramel chocolate pretzel. Hers was better than mine in my opinion. Both were delicious. The only cons were the girls that manned the ice cream were not very knowledgeable or friendly. I wish they could have helped stir us. I moved from Cincinnati to Louisville over a year and a half ago but I still have late night cravings for UDF ice cream, the only place I know where you can get a peanut butter milkshake at 2am. In fact, no trip back to Cinci is ever complete for me without a stop at UDF for one of those amazing peanut butter shakes or a scoop of my very favorite strawberry cheesecake ice cream. It may be Cincinnati blasphemy to say it but I personally prefer UDF over Graeters as my childhood was a UDF childhood filled with scoops of rainbow sherbet, cookies and cream, and cookie dough ice cream scooped by a staff that never seems to change. Now that I live outside of the Cincinati area I am so grateful that I can at least get my Homemade Brand ice cream at the grocery store to tie me over between trips back home. read more

Best soft serve in Cincinnati! I love the vanilla mixed with reese's peanut butter cups or just a plain cup of vanilla and chocolate mixed. They also have peanut butter soft serve and other flavors as well, but only at certain times. THe yogurt is either fat-free or low-fat which makes it even better! read more

Cute building where there was once a gas station. No gas here but UDF sells gas at many other spots. What they don't sell is condoms. I don't like the idea that UDF is pushing out gas stations and 7-11s that sell condoms but they refuse to. This location is great. The attendants are Pleasant, well kept, adorable young ladies. I recall the young lady Quinece helped me and the other person working with her was helpful. She made me a sundae and it was delicious. Service was great on February 2nd! read more
