I was hoping this would be my new bionico spot but believe it not not a lot of places can make bomb a** bionicos. Right when we walked in we were greeted and asked if we needed any assistance. I loved how on top of their customer service which a plus for me! They spoke Spanish so I had to order for my bf he just wanted a scoop of ice cream, he wanted me to surprise him! My heart was set on a bionico so I ordered mine which was strawberries and mango with granola for the toppings. I decided to get my bf the Ferrero rocher flavor which he absolutely fell in love with!! I wish I fell in love with my bionico but honestly it wasn't all that. I have bought a diablito from this location before and I liked it because they put tamarindo ice cream. I went back today for a diablito raspado. I was expecting tamarindo ice cream blended in. My friend and I went on a Tuesday afternoon. There is parking in the back. You just need to turn right before you reach the front of the store. My friend and I got their Elote and their Mangonada. For their Mangonada, this place uses some sort of Mango sorbet for their Mangonada. There are also fresh mango pieces, tajin, chamoy, and a tamarind straw. It was really refreshing, especially on a hot day! I would rate this a 4/5! For their Elote, it was served in a cup! I would rate this a 3/5 because although it was yummy, the corn was too hot so the mayonnaise melted, making the elote soupy. However, the toppings were yummy! Overall, it was a good experience! Been coming here for the past 10 years or so now for my mangonada's and ice cream treats! They are most popular for the item but also serve other desserts too! Other plates I've tried here are the crepe, fruits, and other flavor ice cream flavors! All of the homemade flavors are great here! Recently we have tried the ferro rocher flavor and it was great! I ordered three things from here, an elote en vaso, hot cheetos with cheese, and a mangonada. I want to start by saying the mangonada was ok and so were the cheetos. But the elote was disgustingly disappointing. The cheese they put on it was clumpy the mayo was barely even there and on top of it the chili powder that is advertised with wasn't even on there and it's just flavorless . I went here during COVID & heatwave days. There is a good amount of parking in the back. You need to turn in right before you reach the the storefront. Still my favorite Mexican Ice Cream shop in all of Hayward CA. They started it all. So glad they're still in business on Mission Blvd. Although there has been a boom in new/other Mexican ice cream shops all over Hayward, United's ice cream flavors /selections still taste the best! Some red sweet syrup on the side of the cup (I'm thinking chili tamarind sauce), Mexican mango ice cream that fills the cup, chopped sour mangos on top, and a chili covered straw. So delicious! The ice cream was my favorite part, sweet and real chunks of mango in it. Mmm, its almost as good as gelato. It actually might taste better than mango gelato. The sour mango goes very well with the chili sauce or whatever it was and ice cream. The hardened chili on the straw was a tasty treat as well! All the sour, sweet, and spice went very well together. I actually finished the whole cup! I was watching what other people ordered and I noticed most of them ordered the tostilocos! A bag of salsa Tostitos chips is cut open on the side, then they add a bunch of goodness in it such as tamarind, beans, sauce, etc. Looked so good, huge, and the price was very cheap for it. I think we'll definitely get that next time. We will definitely be back to try their other snacks/desserts, especially their mangonada! I was afraid that this place would be just another hype, but boy am I SO HAPPY that I finally got to try this place. Have you ever had those $.25 mango and watermelon lollipop covered in tamarind from the ice cream truck? Or the strawberry chewy tamarind balls Food Maxx used to sell? That's what United Paleteria's mangonada reminded me of. HOT DAMN it was so freaking bomb. The straw covered in tamarind tasted just like those strawberry chewy balls. Inside the cup were fresh mangoes mixed into a mango slushy all with chili powder and sauce drizzled over. Every bite was amazing! It was a perfect amount of spicy and sweet for me. This was two days ago, but I've literally been thinking about going back every day since then. I think I'm going to go back tomorrow :) Take all my 5 dollar bills!!! Warning/TIP: This is not a dessert that everyone would enjoy. If you get a chance, chase down an ice cream truck to try out one of those lollipops I mentioned earlier. My dad chose to come here after all the reviews he's heard of this place. We came in on a Saturday afternoon and it was pretty busy, lots of families and couples enjoying some ice cream. I got really excited about the ferrero rocher ice cream flavor but was pretty disappointed at the lack of flavor that it had, it just had chunks of the chocolate itself but that's the only bit of flavor that the ice cream had. Super disappointed in the ferrero rocher flavor! Would not try again! HOWEVER the galleta (Oreo) ice cream was so so good! It was flavorful, had chunks of Oreos and just really has the cookies and creme flavor that is known and loved. The waffle cone was also super flavorful and wasn't stale at all. I wouldn't get the ferrero rocher, but would get the galleta flavor and maybe even try a different flavor. We dig the ice cream here, at $2.75 and the different flavors they carry here, it was kid approved. I believe one flavor was lime and the other one tasted like a caramel flavor. As for the famous Mangonadas here, it was a total disappointment. For $5.50 it came in a small cup layered with chamoy and very uneven mango slices. Maybe we were expecting more for the price, but it didn't deliver for us. It did't have the freshness, zing, or the punch we usually get at other places. Parking is available in the back. Don't try to park in front of the store (even though you can at certain hours) because the traffic on Mission in crazy and the drivers are crazier. We almost got side swiped. They have tequila flavored paletas. I was intrigued but didn't get a chance to try it. It seems this place makes these popsicles on the primises and deliver to some drivers in arranged in cages. Its parking lot is located behind this place but to get to it, you have to abruptly pull off Mission and go down a 2 way alley that only fits 1 car at a time. Make it past this death trap and you'll find yourself in a surprisingly large, but worn down pebbly parking lot. I came here specifically to try mangonada for the first time. Its not a drink for everyone. Its simultaneously very sweet, sour, and spicy -- not to mention pricey. At $5.77 after tax for a small one, its not exactly cheap. I was expecting it to be very refreshing on a hot day, but its strong flavors made it less cooling than expected. Also, the cup it was served in leaked a bit and just made for a sticky and unpleasant experience. As far as I know, its one of the few places that offers mangonadas in this area based on yelp searches. Inside, the place and decor could be cleaner. I read really good reviews about this place on Yelp so I decided to come here to pop my mangonada cherry! Their mangonadas are ~$5.50 each. I believe that's a bit pricey but it's worth the money. The place is kept very clean and organized. Only one person is working there at a time but she was efficient in making the orders and ringing people up. At first I wasn't sure how to eat this (lol) but I realized I was suppose to break open the tamarind candy that closes the straw on the bottom. The first couple slurps were reaaaaaallyyyyyy sour, I almost couldn't handle the taste. But after a while it got slightly better. In the end, I didn't finish it because it was too big and unfortunately I was really full already. BUUUUT, if you read other reviews people say that the drink gets better and better, so please learn from my mistake and don't give up!! This rating is only for the mangonada drink... My girlfriends came over the other night and bought me one to try cause there seemed to be a million and one photos posted on Instagram of this drink. I've only been here in the evenings so that's why I think this place looks like its in the middle of no where. Other than the creepy parking behind the building, everything in this place is awesome! I always get the Mango-nada. (everyone gets this!! only if you like tamarind and spices). They've definitely gotten really popular since we started coming here. You can have them change the flavors of the ice cream they put in your mango-nada (water flavors only). I prefer it with the guava !!! It's delicious. If they get too busy, they may run out fresh mangos =( but they can replace it with other fruits =) If you're feeling a bit adventurous, they offer a bunch of other stuff on their menu and if you're not, they sell by the scoop too!
