27 May 2026 I purchased a Camry 2026 XLE a couple weeks ago. However, I decided to purchase the vehicle a couple months ago but my particular car was not available in the area. If it had not been for Mr. Otiz it would not have happened. My first gentleman I spoke with was Mr. Jose Otero, the general manger of the sales department. Over the next several weeks he looked for the vehicle in the Houston regional office where initial factory distribution arrives. He found a car in another city and had Israel pick it up the day I came in and had it processed it and available the next day. During the process Israel Salvador, a senior salesman, helped finalize the purchase, and since he has been my go to man working with Mr. Otero. Also Israel has spent time explaining the operation of the new features of the car and installing a couple promised add ons. I want to reiterate how Jose much went out of his way to find my vehicle and then give me both a fair trade in for my 2020 Camry and a good price that was acceptable to me. If you want a car at Universal, seek out Israel and if necessary will work with Jose to make it happen. The sales person James called me up at 6:01pm stating that he could get me 30 possibly 35 for my car that was just serviced by the dealership. We have been thinking about getting a new car so I entertained the idea of it. James was supposed to text me his number so I could text him when we were on our way. He never followed up, I arrived at 7:24pm and had to search for him by calling the store and sadly Michael was doing amazing talking to us. James stated they didn't even have a comparable car to the one he called about getting an estimate. He said they sold it at 2pm. Mind you he called at 6. So he takes the car for the estimate and it's 29 basic car fax stuff. He wasted my time, my husbands time, it was such a bad experience that I had to call the store to be removed from their call list. I went inside to search for someone to be removed from their list and it makes me question this entire dealership. 2 stars because Michael made this experience somewhat beneficial. read more

Recently my son took his vehicle for oil change and so forth, technician said it was recommended to have spark plugs changed which was not agreed to be done, so after all service was completed and notified when he got home was going over the charges the spark plugs were changed and spoke with the manager nothing was done and was charged for service that was not agreed on. I don't find this right on there part. I was paralyzed by confusion. I kept telling the sales rep I did not want a new car especially one that had no spare tire. The technology was way more than I could use, and I hated the skinny tires. Before I knew it they had the keys to my Lexus and I had the sales manager and the salesman both talking at me so fast writing numbers on pieces of paper, then crumbling them up and throwing them in the garbage can. I visited a few months ago trying to shop around for my first car purchase and this was my first stop. Cruz and this other new girl helped me at first and were very nice. However, a few moments after, he brought out their finance guy Ty. Ty was very passive and spoke to me like I was an idiot yet I was still being as nice as I could. He was trying to badger me into agreeing and even said I'd be the new girls first client so I should help her with the sale even though it would only be effecting me negatively financial wise. Polite service can only take you so far. Yes it's good for business and good that they are all nice, but service is lacking. This is my second visit (same situation first time) for basic service (tire rotation and oils change). I showed up 10 minutes early, and after waiting an hour and 15 minutes, I checked and saw my vehicle was still two cars behind. When I notified them, they moved it into a different bay and began work. I will no longer be coming to this Toyota for two reasons: 1. If a client schedules An appointment, at a set time, an hour late is not acceptable. Why have an appointment in the first place? 2. I bought a car there not so long ago. The process was okay, the salesman helped me make my decision well. The only thing I wish was better that they did more for me. The car they give me came with no spare, no added services, the car had a small crack on the windshield when I took a closer look at it. once was enough, never going again. Took two days to get a basic service. I arrived 15 minutes early, was seen 15 minutes, was placed in a corridor to wait for a representative, by the time he arrived, he said they couldn't service my car in the remaining 90 minutes I had before I was needed back at work. So I came back the next day. I was 30 minutes early, but waited 90 minutes for a shuttle to take me back to work. I was third to be delivered out of three in that shuttle, so another 45 minutes was wasted, even though my work is 7 miles form the dealership. 30 minutes later i was texted that my car was service. But i waited another two hours for the shuttle! Despite several urgent calls to the dealership chasing the shuttle. All in all, that service took 7 hours out of my day, on the second day, and two hours out of the previous day. I bought a 2024 Chevy, but because this is a Toyota dealership, they couldn't "cerify" my used vehicle. They also couldn't get rid of it fast enough. The finance officer I worked with was not exactly truthful, he didn't print out all the papers so I wasn't clear on a few details like monthly payments & interest rate. Also the 2 year warranty is bundled into the 6 year loan. Smart people don't finance things like that. When I returned to cancel the warranty, another finance officer did print out all the paper work. BEWARE do not bring your vehicle here for repairs. My assigned service rep, Carlos Mendoza was beyond incompetent. Refused to watch a video showing what happened when my car shut down days after I was rear ended and had the wires in the back hatch of my 2020 Highlander cut and punctured. I attempted to change my service rep with the department head Amanda, but Carlos continued to send me messages and speak to me in an extremely unprofessional manner. When I decided to move my vehicle to their 'sister' location Red McCombs I was forced to pay out of pocket for the collision repairs which I requested was stopped 36 hours before but was still completed after the revoking of permission versus allowing me to use my insurance. They use a flow chart to diagnose issues versus a computer to diagnose to diagnose. The entire service department are incompetent and I will never be stepping foot into Universal Toyota again despite using them to purchase my last two vehicles. read more

Initially this rating was a 1 star. I took my Tundra in for 40k service, less than 2 days later check oil light came on. I had to add 2 quarts of oil just to get truck home. Called UT and they sent a tow truck to pick up the tundra. I was told that a retention clip was not installed and that was the issue. Jose Martinez and Jose L were the service people I worked with and they were courteous and professional. Hence why this rating went up to three stars. Why not higher I should not have had to deal with this issue. read more

Got here at 1:30...and finally see a t 1:49. It is truly sad when a place you have been going to for several years changes...and not for the better. UPDATE. It took over 3 hours for a basic oil change! THREE HOURS. In fact, my truck was still on the lift at 2 hours and 30 minutes. This was with an appointment. Drove to service department only to be told they need the truck to be dropped off for three days and I need to schedule an appointment. Overall, service is fine, but I explicitly stated that I wanted an oil change. I requested it when I scheduled the appointment online as well as in person when I checked in for my appointment. After this 80000 mile routine checkup, it wasn't done as expected. After I noticed that it wasn't on my invoice, I bought it to their attention. I just want to understand why every time I walk into the service area, the counter workers just stare at me like I'm inconveniencing them by existing. No greetings, no instructions on where to go, just stares. Every time! It's crazy. My old car finally died for good and I called on the way home late and Caleb Mendez answered my call. than five minutes on the phone with Caleb and a few short texts later and the deal was done and approved.
