We went there after a recommendation from one colleague. It is a small restaurant on route 53 and a little hard to find in first chance. It was open until 930 PM and we entered at 9 PM. As soon as we entered and sit, the server said, you have to give all orders together. I was like let me read the menu first. Anyway, we ordered lemongrass soup, curry puff, pad Thai and Thai red curry. The soup was a bit oily as I had tom yum earlier too in various Thai restaurants so I Know. Curry puff was chicken pastry so nothing special was that Thai red curry was okay and so was pad Thai though it was very sweet. And yes, after serving our order, the server again reminded us they ll be close so any last order? The ambiance was good. While eating, dishes cleaning sound ( as they were closing and the kitchen was just behind us as it is a small restaurant) was keep coming so it was not a pleasant dining experience. read more

My wife gave me free reign to pick a place to grab dinner tonight so my son and I decided on Thai. We knew Up Thai was close to home so we decided to give them a try. When my son and I arrived we got a big friendly greeting, but the place was empty. We told the woman behind the counter we were going to do take out and she gave us their regular restaurant menu. Within a few minutes of ordering a few people had arrived so I'm hoping we were just here before the rush. Anyway, we ordered Curry puffs and Chicken Satay for appetizers. For our entrees my son got the Chicken pad Thai, I got my wife Red Curry with chicken and I got the Spicy Basil Shrimp. The curry puffs were light and fluffy and tasted great-the cucumber dressing was a nice complement. The Chicken Satay was a little dry, but really flavorful a and the peanut sauce was actually the best I've had in the area. All three of our entrees were home runs-my son actually said it was the best pad Thai he'd ever had. My meal had amazing flavor and was nicely spiced with lots of veggies...only problem was there were only four shrimp and I'm far from a four shrimp is enough kind of guy. I will definitely be back here. Mine seemed to be the only one a little light on the meat so I'm going to ask for additional protein with whatever meal I get next time I'm here. read more

This is my 5th time getting to eat at this most amazing of Thai restaurants. I travel up to Mahwah for business and happened by this spot one evening 2 years ago during Covid. There is no shortage of great restaurants in Bergen County but I assure you that the trip to this Parsippany spot is well worthwhile. The chef and sauce recipes are nothing short of amazing taste bud explosions that lite your mouth with the perfect amount of spiciness and flavor. I'll stop short of recommending everything on the menu because I am a Vegetarian. But if you want to start your experience with a kick start with the veggie Tom Yom soup and follow it with the Pad Kee Mao(drunken noodles). On a small corner next to a dance studio is what I would say is one of the best Thai places in Parsippany! They have some of the best pad thai and drunken noodles I have had. We went for dinner and got the old school pad thai, the papaya pad thai and the drunken noodle (see pictures) and was satisfied with all three! We also got the fried calamari which was AMAZING. They do not have a drinks menu but allow "bring your own beer". The location is small but very well decorated and maintained. The staff is very friendly and the service is great. The food was absolutely delicious and the customer service was great I thoroughly enjoyed my pad see ew which had a perfect balance of sweet and salty... the noodles were also very fresh. The green curry was delicious... had the perfect bit of sweetness and also had a nice kick to it. The mango sticky rice was also tasty... nice texture for the sticky rice, had a little chew to it and I couldn't get enough of the coconut sauce. UPDATE: It seems like they have been taken over by new management.. disappointing to say the least. I started off w chicken satay and fried calamari and they were subpar, would not order again. I got my usual thai iced tea.. which was overmilked.. different from the original precious. And when i ordered the pad thai, first glance it looked very different. It wasn't served in their typical blue/red plastic plates (yeah it wasn't super classy china but it was the up thai signature) which honestly alarmed me at first. Instead it was served in a nice ceramic plate which would usually be great news to others, but this was just one of many signs that there was something different about the UpThai that i know and love. The pad thai was a complete different taste, oddly sweeter and my noodles were HARD. The green curry was pretty decent if you can get over the amount of salt in it. sodium galore. Overall, the food was.. enjoyable, but it DEFINITELY is not even as close to as good as it used to be. All in all, Up Thai is NOT what it was before precovid, if i was a new customer I would maybe return for subpar thai food, but since i know that it downgraded I cannot bring myself to go back. THE SPOT!! I've been meaning to write a review for probably a year now-- it's finally time. Up Thai is my go-to spot for takeout. The pad Thai is AMAZING! One of the best Pad Thai dishes I've ever had BUT I would ask for extra sauce (on the side or mixed in- they usually can do both) because sometimes they leave it a bit too dry (for my liking anyways). They're also SUPER ACCOMMODATING with special requests and items on the side. You can also ask for things more or less spicy. The red curry is super tasty and flavorful. It's a coconut curry broth with veggies & your choice of protein with a side of rice. My personal favorite is Thai basil- a bit spicy with a clear broth with protein + veggies served with rice. The broth has a strong and spicy flavor. The dinner size is a great portion (I usually have leftovers for the next days lunch) The Drunken Noodle is also really tasty as is the Bangkok Fried Rice and the Spicy Fried Rice, though o usually ask for no carrots. Their curry puffs are delicious-- I just wish it came with more or larger puffs but very very good. Prices are very reasonable for the portions. Also, they're pretty quick with pick up and they stay hot super long (I ordered through Uber eats and it took nearly 2 hours once and the food was still hot!). Also, their containers are good enough to re-use (I have a ton of their containers and use them all the time). Overall, I HIGHLY recommend up Thai! read more

Entree was just ok and I was disappointed with the portion. 6 small shrimp in a bland sauce with veggies with a child portion of rice. With a $14 lunch, I expect a good portion. To be quite honest, this is a gem of a location for lunch in the Parsippany/Morris Plains area. Stopped by around noon on a weekday and there were quite a few other parties already seated, but nothing unmanageable and we had no wait time at all. We ordered the lunch specials which come with Thai salad with peanut dressing. I was pleasantly surprised that the salad was not just an afterthought, unlike at other restaurants, and there was sufficient dressing-to-salad ratio. 10/10 would recommend and would eat again. Spring rolls (2) can be added onto any lunch order for an additional $2 - which of course, I always want with my Thai food. The spring rolls were nothing to write home about but I knew what I was getting when I ordered them. I ordered the Drunken Noodles for my main dish and it did not disappoint. My coworker ordered the Se Ew and also thoroughly enjoyed her dish. For an inexpensive and fairly hearty lunch, Up Thai is a good deal and delicious. Eventually, I ordered Tom Kha, Thai Salad and Red Curry, all vegan. The Thai Salad was fresh, but tasted as if it was sitting in the fridge for some time before serving. Tom Kha with Tofu was uneventful, just okay. Red Curry sauce was absolutely right on, overshadowing the fact that the string beans were undercooked. Salad was a 3, soup 2.5 and Red Curry was a 4. That's not bad for a little hole in a wall place. They get a point for price and size. They need Gordon Ramsey to tell them how to properly serve... dishes, utensils, etc. Another pet peeve of mine - the bathroom needs regular cleaning of floors, walls and fixtures.
