I drove into town looking for an auto shop to check if it was safe to drive back to Boulder, and Up Top was the first place I saw--so I pulled in. The owner could not have been kinder. He immediately stopped what he was doing, took the time to look under the car and the hood, and quickly figured out the issue (an O-ring that wasn't sealing properly). I was so appreciative of how willing he was to help on the spot. He even mentioned that some of his customers drive all the way from Colorado Springs to have their cars serviced here--which says a lot! My RV had a malfunction on the dps sensor, I was at Orilleys getting some cleaner to try & fix it. The owner of Up Top Automotive was there picking up some parts for his shop & I overheard him talking about his business & I asked him if he could help diagnose my problem. His tech ran a diagnostic code machine on it trying to reset it but to no avail. We talked a bit and I asked him how much I owed him and he said to my surprise- nothing! This place is awesome! we're from California and our brakes sounded awful after coming down the mountain. They took us in right away and were able to get the parts the same day. The mechanic was great. He showed us what was wrong with our brakes and fixed it in no time. If we were to live in CO, we definitely take our truck here again. They were a true honest auto shop. I was visiting Estes Park, and noticed my 2023 Chevy Silverado was making a funny noise. I went to Up Top, and they quickly diagnosed the problem. Their advice was to take it to a Chevy Dealer, as the fix would be under warranty. After calling 4 different Chevy Dealers, and being told they couldn't even look at the truck for 7-10 days, I went back to Up Top. They ordered the part and got me back on the road. Dorian and his wife were exceedingly kind and accommodating to these two Georgia tourists. We noticed our brakes felt shaky at 10:30am, called at 10:35am, got an over-the-phone estimate, dropped off the car around 10:50am, got a confirmation call that the work was started at 11:50am, and got the call that it was ready for pickup at 1:50pm - with a final cost of the exact initial estimate. A 3 hour same-day turnaround time. I am very happy. And then they went above and beyond. Dorian told me over the phone that he'd give me a little driving lesson when I got back (I told him I didn't know that I could downshift in my automatic transmission Prius). I thought he was joking and he wasn't! He took me on a little drive right when I got back to the shop and taught me exactly how to do it while my wife hung back and happily pet one of the dogs that was hanging around. Finally, if all that weren't enough, he gave me some fishing advice too. A fairly priced repair, a free driving lesson, and free fishing advice. We had some car trouble while traveling from out of town. Limped in to town. This place was awesome to work with. They helped diagnose the problem. Made a video to show the issue with our coolant leak. Told us that based on how the repair needed to be made it would be best done by a dealer or another shop. Made a couple recommendations. I don't know what type of service this place provides, but it's definitely not customer service. I have been trying to get in touch with them for the past week to ask them whether I could drop off my U-Haul truck after we have used the rental. I have also made efforts to email them and I did not receive a response either. When time finally came to do a drop off for my rental and this location was picked at 7 AM in the morning, which is what I was instructed to do, to call Uhaul in the morning so I could get a confirmation for my Drop Off location. We physically came to the location, and that is where the young skinny fella informed me that they cannot accept any more drop offs because their manager has instructed them this morning. I have made an attempt to get in touch with Uhaul Customer Service, which was also pretty much useless. I have been going back-and-forth with them and I even asked how much this dealer would charge me if I do drop it off here, even though they claim to be full. It has been evident that there is absolutely no opportunity to do this, and I have clearly expressed my frustrations with this attendant. He has also made it evident that he does not care whether he gets reported or not. This Uhaul experience, as well as this front desk attendant's behavior adds to the overall bad experience of this rental that presents massive inconvenience to me and my entire family. Now our entire day has been shifted and we have to make additional plans on how and where to deliver the rental. read more

I didn't realize how much stores up charge for parts until I inadvertently discovered that up top didn't up charge at all. They're friendly and honest and up front about what needs to be done or doesn't need to be done. While visiting the National Park, the check engine light came on. Sadly, I had paid thousands of dollars in repairs before leaving California for this trip. We were only going to be in town three days. The mechanic, Dorian, wasn't in and we were told to return in an hour. We returned and Dorian ran a diagnostic and turned off the light. He said it was ok to drive, and that he could repair it the next day because he needed to order a coil kit. When we returned, he was not there and no one knew what was going on. We were told to come back again the next day because they didn't have the part. That's three strikes for Up Top. Also, the lot is a disaster area of junker cars. That should have tipped me off to the type of service to expect. read more

They will rent you a car at a reasonable rate, they have a nice selection of cars to choose from and they work very hard to accommodate your needs. If I could give ZERO stars I would. This place is a RIP off. I scheduled my alignment with Dorian Cox. I came in on my appointment day and Dale was the one that was going to be doing the alignment. When I came back to get my car Dale told me it would be 100.00 so I paid him asked for reciept and print out, he then said they cant do that. Drove my car home and before I'm even down the road I can tell the alignment was never done. Been trying for several months to get a resolution come to find out Monty another employee there said they never did the alignment and Dale just took my money. There are better qualified mechanics in Estes Park who wont RIP you off. Today I will file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. read more

I cannot say enough good things about this business & it's owners. I'd give them 10 stars if it was available. I have been volunteering at the YMCA of the Rockies for the summer and drove my 2006 Acura TL from AZ to CO. Up Top was referred to me by another Y volunteer. After traveling the rough roads, something started rattling under the hood & sounded serious. I called Up Top on Thursday morning. Although Dale was the only mechanic working that day he said to bring it in & he'd give me an estimate. I wasn't there more than 15 minutes when he asked if I had a little time, he'd put it on the rack to look under the car. I waited in the service area & had the best chat the owners wife. What you won't get here is some swanky, slick dealership waiting room with coffee & cookies. What you will get is honesty, a proud family history spattered across the walls & a friendly face. About 1 hour later the owner came in to tell me what they found & made some recommendations for when I get home to AZ. When I asked how much I owed them he said "NOTHING. No Charge. If we don't fix anything, we don't charge you." I asked what about labor. "No. We don't do that." Amazed & very, very appreciative I left pledging to let others know of their business. My own Acura dealer charged me for a dipstick after spending thousands of dollars there the last 15 years. These days, you don't find the type of service or standards Up Top delivers. God Bless them. I'll always use Up Top as my go to auto & rental service when in Estes Park. I encourage everyone else to do the same !!! read more

The plastic molding on the top of my car was sticking up/ almost falling off on a road trip from Chicago to Los Angeles, so I decided I really needed to get that fixed before leaving the Rockies and heading down to the Grand Canyon. The host at a local BBQ place told me to go to Up Top and ask for Dorian - so glad I did!! Dorian and his staff are unbelievably pleasant people. Soooo nice! They tacked down the molding for $5 and sent me on my way happy. Really honest, good work. Dorian told me he gets most of his business from word of mouth, and he was definitely busy! This place made a bad situation good. I had a rental from Budget and the tire blew while driving through rocky mountain national park. Budget was unable to tow our car due to law regulations and can only provide roadside assistance outside the national park. This ruined our hiking trip. We called this place and came in 10 minutes. They took us back to there tow company and offered to drive us to a hiking trail while we wait for budget towing. This place really helped us through our troubles. Amazing service from "cowboy", he went above and beyond for me when my 17 Harley Davidson lost its clutch In the middle of the park. I was able to limp it down to the shop where he helped me bleed the clutch line and got me back up and running. Up Top was there with a tow truck in less than half an hour, despite my crappy directions! Up Top then fixed the car early Sunday morning, on a day they were trying to get out of town. I was a day and a half into a motorcycle trip when my bike died on me in the middle of Rocky Mountain National Park. The cost to tow the bike all the back to my home would have been hundreds of dollars. I was stranded and really angry about the situation. When I spoke with Dorian and the rest of the crew at Up Top, they told me they would tow the bike back to their shop. They arrived at my exact location quickly and were incredibly nice. I knew my bike was in good hands. They couldn't figure out why my bike died but they were able to get it running again so I was able to ride it back to my neck of the woods and not have to pay upwards of $400 to have it towed back home. They did all of this free of charge. In total, I spoke with five different people from Up Top, including Dorian, his wife, the mechanic who worked on my bike, and the two gentlemen who came to the park to tow my bike. All of them were incredibly friendly and professional. They got me up and running and saved me a ton of money. If I lived closer to Estes Park, this would be the place I would take all of my vehicles. read more

They needed additional equipment for the job and quickly had it on the spot. 2) They were friendly and courteous to us and used tremendous care extracting our bike from a difficult spot. 3) they gave us options on where to deliver and gave us a ride to the hotel in town. 4) I took my bike back to their shop the next day to get it checked and they performed the service quickly and confidently. Great friendly service. The office had a closed sign but there were people inside, so we went in. He didn't charge us to check our tire pressure and reassure us that it was the altitude and our tire was not going flat. He added a couple pounds of air so our dashboard warning light would go out.
