The inside has a lot of sitting space and the decor is cool as well Now on to the food. I ordered a pepperoni slice and a meat slice. Probably the biggest slices iv ever seen. My buddy and i cut our slices in half and basically had 2 regular sliced pizzas so both of us could try each. The price totally was a little over $10, which is great imo. The food tasted delicious. After the LA Marathon, I was dying of hunger, but due to time constraints, I had to opt for a restaurant location on Beverly Dr. I didn't think that would be an issue, but the places I would have liked to visit (i.e. Urth Caffe) were packed (of course). I figured pizza would be a safe bet, but I wasn't expecting LA pizza to be so mediocre... I had asked for 10" pizza, and was served a 14" pizza. I was hungry enough to eat it, but that's not what I ordered. My pizza was also supposed to be a "white" pizza, but a 50/50 blend of mozzarella and feta. Absolutely no feta was added to my mix. The only thing that the staff got right were adding the toppings I requested (onion and pineapple). We stopped by Upper Crust Pizzeria to pick up some pizza to-go. Love the double entendre name. The place is pretty cute and there are some tables and chairs to sit at if you want to eat there. They have an open kitchen which I always appreciate. You order up at the counter when you walk in. The pizza slices are not on display which is a little strange. They do have a water dispenser at the register which is a nice touch. They also have a rewards program. We ordered some slices of margarita and a slice of cheese to go. After waiting just a few minutes, I decided to get a second slice of cheese to-go. We waited a very long time to get our order. The people behind us in line, who were eating in, received their pizzas before us. We were first in line when we walked in so it wasn't like we were waiting for someone else. We had to go feed the meter a few times. When I asked what was taking so long and why the people behind us were served first, we were told that it was because I came back and ordered a second slice of cheese. In my humble opinion, a slice of pizza should only take a few minutes to warm and pack unless they were making it from scratch which I doubt was the case here especially with the cheese slice. I've never had this experience before at a pizza shop. I will say that the cashier did make it up to us by giving us an extra slice of cheese to go. The slices of pizza were generous. The toppings tasted very fresh. I appreciate that they use ingredients that are never canned or frozen. The sauce was tasty. However, I did not care for the dough. It's a thin crust but it was very chewy. I prefer a crispy, crunchy thin crust pizza. My pizza was also lukewarm which was strange as I did not have far to travel and we ate it right away. Originally from Boston. Was awesome to see when I moved out to the west in 2014 that some one of regular spots like upper crust was out here and thriving as well. Solid pizza thin crispy crust. The sauce is a bit on the sweet side but otherwise the same recipe as they still use I'm Boston. The interior is not fancy it's simply a pizza joint do don't go in expecting a 5 star experience. This is my new favorite place for pizza! I came here by accident because I usually go to Urth Caffe next door and decided to give it a try. The slices are so good -- very thin crust pizza that rivals my usual NY-style go-to places around LA. They state that they make their pizza with fresh, never frozen ingredients and I have to say the freshness and flavor are noticeable. Love the taste of the crispy crust, the delicious tomato sauce and the nice saltiness of the real cheese on top. They sell whole pies, but I love getting slices here for only around $4 each. I can't wait to try their wings because they're all baked! This is rare as usually wings are fried and I love that this is a healthier option that also looks delicious. I ordered delivery, to their credit it was about 20 minutes before closing so I understand how that might be frustrating but the pizza lacked love. First I paid for extra cheese and I can say that it did not at all have extra cheese. Next the pizza could have been cooked a minute longer give it that crust and no flop. The pizza is thin crust. I was not a fan of the dough or the pizza sauce but they had great quality cheese that was not oily or heavy. That part was great. I also ordered some chicken fingers. Felt like pizza for dinner. The place had no patrons and I was able to order immediately. The man at the front was nice and quickly set us up for outside seating. I had a choice of Mulberry Pizzeria or Fresh Brothers across the street but I came here instead. I ordered the mushroom and pepperoni pizza with some BBQ wings. It came out fresh and hot and reminded me of pizza I've had in New York. The place has lots of parking if you can secure one in the front. It's has seating inside and outside and the place is clean. Pro-tip: the slices are definitely better than a whole pie. Mostly because the slice is made to order while you're in arms length and you consume it immediately thereafter. Both the Beverly Hills and the now nascent west la (brentwood) location are without a heating rack. Which means, if you order a whole pie it will be sitting on top of the oven, and if you're five minutes late, it's already cold. The large pepperoni pizza was okay, yet pricy for what it is. The slices are cut incredibly thin and by the time I consumed it, the slices were floppy. Not salty. Not to greasy. A perfect flop. They even had garlic salt available which so many pizza spots in LA do not offer. I gotta try the Sicilian which they call square the next time I go in. The square is gigantic like two normal Sicilians put together . Upper Crust just happens to be directly across street from one of my least favorite pizza spots. I placed an order through Too Good to Go. I walked up to the door about 10 minutes before my scheduled pick up time to let them know I was there, only to find they had closed early. It's not about the food, I can always go buy it whenever, however, the customer service was poor. I should have been alerted that they were closing early as the pick up time was 10:30pm! I drove 40 minutes out of my way to pick up, and spent my night waiting instead of being at home. I stopped in earlier with some friends, due to the recent closing of the Culver City Uppercrust (which has come as a shock to many), there was no warning leading up to closing, I was in there a few weeks ago and everything seemed hunky dory. The service lacked, this was a similar problem at the Culver City location too however you just expect far better service in "Beverly Hills". The younger lady (high schooler or college student?) seemed like she had no interest in working, serving customers or even smiling, she had a straight face and seemed lost as she took our order (a few slices), not too difficult. She then forgot to tap something on her screen and we waited to pay with our card while she did something on her phone, when she realized and did what she needed to charge us, we paid and sat down. 7 Minutes later, Roxy (one of the ladies in my group) went to inquire about our slices, this girl thought we were ordering and started asking us how many slices and if it was take out or dine in, she didn't remember at all that we had already ordered, we reminded her, she seemed to have low focus and got distracted easier as she waved us off "ok ok I bring it to you", we sat down and waited, our slices arrived, giant delicious slices as usual. BUT... 2 slices completely wrong, and the pepperoni charred on the edge and looked like the crust had been cut to hide the burned crust. We walked back inside and the older gentleman helped us correct the girls mistakes. The ambiance is good, quiet little spot, a few tables inside and 3 tables outside, inside is extremely warm though, felt like a steam room, poor ventilation or lack of ac maybe. Will I drive from Culver City? Probably not, while the food is good, the service would not be a returning factor for me. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE hire staff that actually enjoys their job and prides customer service, not these highschoolers that don't care. You have a great product, the food is good, the location is good but the service sucked tonight. I've been to this place a few times and enjoyed the food and ambiance. My attitude has completely changed after a recent incident. A friend stopped by to pick up a pizza and was encountered with terrible service relating not only to operations, but also morals. He first tried to use his reward points to apply a discount, a completely valid request. The cashier, who was apparently new, did not know how to apply the points and gave him a bad attitude for trying to making her job difficult. How is this my friend's fault? Train your staff properly so you don't encounter these issues. Next, he noticed an unusually long wait for his pizza when it was not busy. A customer who was there around the same time got their pizza within a reasonable time. When he asked about it, he saw the cooks and staff in the back laughing at him. When he finally got his pizza later, it was burnt and inedible. When he confronted them, they offered a refund which he didn't receive punctually. He called management as well who confirmed the refund and a gift card, but still nothing after three days. Complete BS if you ask me. I rarely leave reviews, but this situation lit a fire under me and I had to speak up. The fact that they have good food will never excuse the actions that took place that day. I have been going to this pizzeria almost every week to get pizza. Despite undercooking my order twice in the past, it didn't stop me from going back again because I genuinely enjoyed their pizza. But everything changed on 1/10/24, the evening I tried ordering pizza. I was trying to use my reward points to get a discount, but the cashier didn't know how to use the points and got very irritable towards me. She began taking other customers before me and had me wait at the register. Eventually, after having placed my order (without using my reward points), I ended up waiting about an hour total for my pizza to come out. The chef had forgotten to make my pizza 30 mins into placing my order. Instead of apologizing, the chef told me to be patient and that he had a lot of orders placed. Another customer who had been watching the situation said the cashier and the chef were laughing after I had asked about my pizza 30 minutes in, realizing he (the chef) had forgotten about my order. Once I finally received my pizza, I saw that it was burnt all around the edges and burnt on the bottom of the pizza. When I complained, the chef started getting angry and raised his voice at me, saying it wasn't burnt. Without offering to remake my pizza, the chef told my mom and I not to come back again and tossed the pizza out. Due to this experience and their terrible behavior/customer service, I will not be returning to this place again.
