Finally tried Upper Crust and I'm so glad it's in close reach! The aromas from the store always catch my attention when I'm walking by, and today I'm so glad I decided to try! The menu has so many delicious varieties, it's impossible to choose just one. This time I went with 1/2 White Spinach and 1/2 Mykonos, both excellent choices. The crust is a perfect crunchy type thin style. The advertising is eye catching matching the quality of gourmet pizza. The staff was very friendly. My family and I had a wonderful experience here just yesterday. A very polite and lovely young gentleman was running the show and he helped us pick out a gluten-free pizza and customize it exactly the way we wanted it. It was made to perfection and he even treated us to some free drinks, which was a super nice gesture. This place feels like a neighborhood jointwith a nice family run vibe. This place participates in an app that allows them to get rid of food left at the end of the night for a discounted rate. I bought food via the app and was immediately struck by the attitude from the cashier who wanted me to prove I paid & actually touched my phone screen to complete the transaction. She made me feel super unwelcome but to add to that she gave me less food than I have ever received via this PAID program. It wasn't worth the gas to receive 2 slices when the cases were filled with multiple pizzas at the end of the night. I was invited over my oldest and dearest friends tonight for Thursday Night Football. With two "No count" teams playing this night turned out to be a beer and pizza talk-a-thon. We ordered two Upper Crust pizzas, made a salad and got a six pack of Peroni beer at raved on. The two large pizza's we ordered were: #1 Half margarita Half Cameron's chicken #2 Half chorizo Half Classic Both were excellent, delivered promptly, held their temperature and worked well on this non-football, football night. With so many pizza joints to wade through, you do the research, read the reviews and try to make a realistic decision from there. Sure you can always go back to your tried and true pies you've been eating for years, but where's the adventure in that. Was pretty cool to watch my personal pizza from OTM being made right before my eyes at the station. The dough was good but I personally would prefer if the pizza was in the oven for another few minutes longer to get a bit more crispy. On a Friday night I was looking for a new pizza place to try and thought this one might be a winner, but between funky smelling pizza, cheap cologne, and very questionable customer service it was quite a let down. I placed a phone order for a large pizza, half Margarita and half mushroom with arugula and requested the arugula top the pizza after it was baked so it would be fresh. When I got the pizza to my car I was uneasy 1) Because there was a strong smell of cheap cologne and 2) Because the pizza itself had a horrible stench. Just the same, I drove off thinking the harsh order would eventually fade. By the time I got home the cologne sent was gone, but that awful stench was still lingering and all my senses were telling me not to take the chance on eating it. Instead, I called and the guy who initially took my order answered. When I explained the situation he was so dismissive. "Ma'am, the pizza stinks? I really don't know what to tell you. Maybe it's the arugula". Then he put me on hold for several minutes, came back and said "maybe it's because you took to long to pick it up". Ummm no. A pizza doesn't go rancid because it's been sitting an extra 10 minutes. "Well ma'am, I really don't know what to tell you." Well, how about offering to replace the untouched pizza? Wouldn't that be the sensible offer? So, I told him I wanted a replacement but just a Margarita this time, nothing with mushrooms (or arugula). When I returned, I handed him the smelly pizza and he handed me the Margarita pizza which right off the bat looked better. Meanwhile, he smelled the other pizza and laughed about how he didn't smell anything. Okay, I wasn't going to argue about it, after a back and forth trip across the Westside, the stench had lightened up a bit. There were two other employees working with him (most likely delivery drivers). Low and behold the cheap cologne smell was coming from one of them. So I certainly wasn't imagining the awful cologne smell the added to the pizza stench. Smh. The replacement Margarita pizza was much better and the reason I'm not giving two stars. Adding to everything else that was wrong, the guy who handled my order kept touching his face mask with his bare hands while proceeded to handle food, payments, and phone orders. I'm sure it's not easy having to wear a face mask for an entire shift and I get the desire to want to take it off or lower it, but from the standpoint of a customer, it just wasn't a good look and made me a little uneasy. Upper Crust Pizzeria on South Beverly Drive, makes super thin crust Boston style pizza. This is one of my fav pizza shops and their super thin crispy crust makes the pizza unique and delish. It's unfortunate this pizza shop is next door to the Beverly Hills Bikini shop, which is how I noticed this pizza shop, but never was interested in it. Until one of my doctors, who attended Harvard medical school in Boston raves about this pizza. On the doctor's recommendation, I tried it a couple of years ago and liked it. This Boston style crust is the antithesis of a Chicago style crust. The signature pizza l like and always order are: the UnCommon with added jalapeños, the White Spinach and the White Truffle, which a new addition to the menu a few months ago. No Truffles, just truffle oil, misleading name. On weekends this shop is so crazy busy fulfilling phone orders for delivery and/or take out. The shop has a few bench type tables inside for dining as well as outdoor seating. It's best to phone in an order and pick it up, it's quicker. Staff seem to be teens, but if I have any issues with my order, the manager is quick to remedy the situation, and service has improved. Ordered the large Supreme, which is one of their most expensive. Domino's make better and more consistent. Heck, so does pizza hut and freaking papa johns. Most of the meat is missing. I tell this kid, Jackson, to fix it and he says "I don't know ". I tell him what's not to know, make it again, he says, NO!!! I tell him this is not supreme, he says "I don't know "!! I asked him what he knows, and he says it's my 3rd day, "I don't know ", yet he refuses to fix the problem. The other pizza was large chicken pesto. The sauce was so light. I asked for extra sauce. We normally love Upper Crust and order all the time. Tonight we got a pizza and they switched the paper they use in the box to a red and white checkered paper and the oil from the pizza caused the red dye to get all over the bottom of the pizza. If it was a tomato/red pizza I may have not noticed but we had a white pizza so it was very noticeable. It tasted quite chemically and is a very bright red so it's clear it's from the paper. Maybe I'm odd but I try to not eat chemicals. We ended up throwing it out. I did call to let them know. We love Upper Crust so I hope they ditch the red paper and bring the white paper back. read more

When I called just kept getting busy tone. Had to call another location to try and get ahold of them. When I finally got in touch with them they said it was because catering pushed them behind schedule. No call. No heads up to let me know they were running behind. They thought nothing of it. Upper Crust both in beverly hills as well as culver city has really become our go to Pizza and usually does not disappoint. I would have given them 4.5 stars if that was a thing. They are on the pricy side for a "non gourmet" pizza...but the Pies are large and the ingredients used are fresh and high quality. we did have two orders where the pizza was a bit on the soggy side and if I hadn't ordered from here so many times in the past I may not have returned but last order was the usual yumminess...They also have done a great job for our large school orders, double cutting the pieces for the younger kids. read more

TLDR: HUGE, THIN, LIGHT For all the pizza lovers out there, Upper Crust Pizzeria will give you a very solid dinner. ULTRA THIN crust and light pizza fans - this place is for you. Granted, i will say that the pizzas were not the best ive had in the world. The large pizzas are downright huge, which a lot of people may be overwhelmed by, BUT the slices are so thin and light in terms of the crust/ingredients that you forsure can eat the whole pizza. I ate almost a full pizza for dinner from this place because of how thin the slides are. I'd say the slices were about LESS THAN A HALF INCH thick. You rarely find joints like this one. The crust was also fairly crunchy, maybe too crunchy/burnt at times, but it was excellent overall. When I say the ingredients are light, I mean that it's ridiculously easy to keep eating. You don't feel like you just ate 5 slices in under 5 minutes because normally at other pizza shops, you'll start to feel the heaviness after 2-3 (depending on your appetite). The ingredients are really lean, and that simply adds to how delicious the food is. Super fresh. Ordered a large state house (pepperoni and meat) pizza as well as a custom ordered one. We wanted the mushroom pizza with white sauce, but they ended up giving us red. They put ricotta and arugula on the pizza - solid. Not sure if they have a signature pizza, but the main point I want to drive home is the size/thickness of the pizzas. If I ever want to eat a lot of pizza and not feel guilty about it, I'll come back to Upper Crust Pizzeria. Thank you for a great meal! read more

My story: As I walk up to Upper Crust Pizzeria on Beverly I'm anticipating picking up the delicious, mouth-watering pizza I phoned in and ordered approximately 30 minutes earlier. I expect when I enter the restaurant I'll be greeted by the blessed fragrance of fresh pizza baking. What I don't expect is the smell of fresh pizza wafting by on the sidewalk as I'm walking up to the front door. Oh. My. Pizza. Goodness! These folks pump the amazing aroma of freshly baked pizza out to the sidewalk and I couldn't be happier. Talk about setting a scene! As I enter, I notice not too many people in the small dining room but it's early and it doesn't even register as an issue. The pizza is ready. I'm greeted at the counter by a woman who goes through the transaction with me efficiently and professionally. All finished at the counter, I leave with my pizza anticipating the wonderfulness that is inside the environmentally friendly pizza box. I am not disappointed. This thin crust pizza (margherita with a few extra toppings) is fantastic. The crust is just the right consistency of thickness and chewiness and the fact there isn't too much of it. The toppings are fresh (fresh tomato baked in with everything else!) and plentiful and I'm really glad I decided on Upper Crust Pizzeria for tonight's dinner. Pizza's arrived over one hour and thirty minutes later, which website delivery time was 45 mins. Both pizza's were cold with no one ounce of warmth. Both pizza's arrived with no seal of protection/sticker on box to maintain integrity of food with delivery driver. I called the store and expressed my frustration. Spoke with Jose who told me the store "never uses seals on the boxes. They just ran out." Hmm, so which is it? Never use the seal? or ran out??? Jose then proceeded to tell me I "take a chance whenever I order from any 3rd party delivery" and "it's not their job to make sure a seal is used." The cashier was welcoming and patient, as we viewed and questioned the wall menu. We decided on a medium sausage pizza, one side with marinara sauce and the other with pesto. The pizza had a decent flavor but the sausage seemed quite thin, almost like shavings of sausage. Can I say this is the best pizza I've had, probably not, but again, it's decent. Overall, our dining experience here was just "okay". I'm still thinking about that sausage, as it reminds me of pepperoni, being thinly sliced. Maybe, we should've ordered a large pizza, but we didn't want to get too big of a pizza, being that this was our first time at this pizzeria. No worries, as we left here and went for dessert.
