PHYSICAL ASSAULT: I had an extremely troubling experience at Upstate Imports Auto Repair in Syracuse and would strongly caution others. The owner, Jeff Thomas is complicit in the abusive behavior of his employees, based on my personal experience. I brought my Range Rover in for diagnostics and a repair quote. When I politely asked for clarification on certain billing items, the service advisor (Tony Lesko) became increasingly abrasive and ultimately refused to continue working on my vehicle. I was instructed to pick it up immediately and pay only for diagnostics, which I did. At pickup, after I paid and signed only the receipt, I documented my vehicle with photos and video. *** While I was seated inside my car preparing to leave, the service advisor came out of the building, banged on my driver-side window, and then reached his arm inside my vehicle, multiple times, without my consent in an attempt to honk the horn, while continuing to make aggressive remarks.*** This behavior was intimidating, unprofessional, and completely inappropriate. The interaction was recorded. While on the premises, I also noticed that a brake warning light was illuminated, which had not been present prior to bringing the vehicle to the shop. That raised serious safety concerns for me. For clarity: tampering with a motor vehicle or interfering with its operation can constitute a felony under New York law. I am not making an accusation, but given the conduct and the vehicle condition upon release, this was alarming and unacceptable. Customers should be able to ask billing questions without being subjected to intimidation or physical boundary violations. Went in for a pre purchase inspection of a 2015 M3. Took around an hour and came back with a thorough report on the condition of the car. Staff were accommodating, price was reasonable. Feeling good about the shop, I also asked for a quote on lowering springs installation. I was quoted around 900 dollars for the job, which I later looked up the book hour from BMW on this job was only 4.5 hrs. They also wanted 250 for alignment. Both these two quotes were on the higher end. I ended up driving to the stance shop at Queens and got the springs installed along with alignment for 400 dollars read more

This company convinced me that they were paying close attention to my vehicle by texting me the visual inspection of my vehicle and submitting and completing work that was completed under the warranty. A few weeks later I found out that my fluid levels weren't checked when I started getting warning lights. They also tried to claim that my vehicle needed an $800 windshield washer fluid motor. The problem ended up being that my washer fluid was empty even though a technician claimed to have checked the levels. Please be careful going to this place read more

Literally the most trust worthy auto place I have ever been to... very hard to find to a mechanic or auto shop that you can trust and that is also extremely skilled in their niche of European cars. My daughter who is a Syracuse student took her 1994 Volvo 940 to this establishment because the car was smoking (or steaming) from under the hood. She knows nothing about cars and they ended up quoting her $960.00 to replace 3 fan belts. She told them NOT to do any work until they had an estimate but they went ahead anyway and charged her $130.00 for work done BEFORE giving her $960.00 for the fan belts. She called me from their shop and I spoke to them and told them they were obviously taking advantage of a young woman who knew nothing about cars and NOT to do the work. Had it needed just 3 fan belts I could have replaced them for less than $100.00. This was such an obvious attempt to grab what they could from an unsuspecting female customer, it makes me sick. In the end I had it towed all the way to my Volvo mechanic in CT and he told me they diagnosed it completely wrong which was very obvious. It needed a water pump not 3 fan belts! He replaced the water pump, changed the oil and took the snow tires off all for $230.00. BEWARE of this business as they are obviously not trustworthy. read more
