I came here for an afternoon bowl and the lanes were more modern with the colors and interior. However my lane did have some issues with racking the pins as it broke 3 times during my time. Food was very mid, but don't expect much from a bowling place. I had a good time here and would come back if I wanted to bowl and was in the area.

It's a lively, upbeat bowling alley. A nice space for birthday celebrations or fun gatherings. Upstairs, after 7pm is 21+ and a cover charge! There's live music, bar, table service, pool and bowling. Happy hour specials are available. The food was ok but nothing made a great impression.

I had a fantastic time at Uptown Alley. We went after going to the movies and we weren't disappointed. The vibe as you walk in is festive and so inviting. The live music performance with Bombshell RVA was amazing! The drinks and food were so delicious and the servers were attentive and fast! Love hanging out at Uptown Alley!

I was surprised with how big this place is. I love the second story that overlooks huge screens for game day. Only reason I have 4 stars is because the bowling is a little expensive ($45 for 1 hour) but it comes with the experience of having a server and full food menu. They do have NA beer which I appreciated. Overall this is a fun atmosphere.

This is a fun place to just hang out and eat typical bar fare - but if you're planning on going for a well-maintained bowling alley, I would go elsewhere. We were on the upstairs lanes and had to move lanes because the first one didn't work well, the machines also kept missing our scores. The plus was - the chicken wings are decent taste. They had the right cook and the dry rub was well seasoned. They still have their QR codes around from the pandemic but ordering on those is difficult if you're like me and want to adjust menu items. I prefer ordering from the wait staff personally! Overall, a good hangout but not for bowling.

At first I really thought how bad could this place be but it's kind of really bad! The people working there are so rude! Also it takes forever to get food AND drinks! And not just alcohol drinks for some reason that's faster but we ordered a sprite and water and it took 30 minutes! The food was bad so eat before! We got a pepperoni pizza, french fries, chicken tenders with tater tots, quesadilla and mozzarella sticks and everything was so bland and cardboard like! Good luck if you need help with anything because if you hit the server/help button no one ends up coming! Besides that the place is huge and the bar was nice so maybe after a few drinks this place would be better?

Spring rolls were served like this, ate one. We're assuming I got sick from this since my husband didn't eat any of these.

Fun atmosphere. Attentive staff. Great time. Prices are a little on the expensive side. Food is typical bowling ally food...

Sure, it's not your Dave & Buster's game room but it suffices, espeically in combination with two hours of bowling.

My kiddo has been wanting to learn to bowl, so this was the second place we have tried. They have sooooooooo many balls for younger kids since this is targeted toward military families. There were ample 4, 5, 6, and 7 pound balls. It was soooooooooo easy to find some smaller ones for my kiddos to use. I really appreciated that. You ask at the front desk for them to set the bumpers, but once they set them, they raise and fall each time for the players. So hubs and I could earn our gutter balls fair and square, while the kids got higher than they would have earned without them... Definitely better than places where you either have to have them up or down the whole time. No music was playing although they have one of those jukeboxes where you pay for songs on a phone app, but I rather liked how we weren't screaming over the music and pins falling. We ordered some two cheeseburger combos and a nachos and cheese. I really liked that when you order nachos, they grab you an individual bag of either Tostitos or nacho cheese Doritos, so it is consistent sized every time. The cheese dip is that delicious, iridescent orange cheese at ballparks and convenience stores, but boy does it hit the spot. It is a little pricy for $5.25, but the burger combos are a STEAL. Cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato, pickles and onions, and the condiment bar has so many options: mustard, ketchup, relish, ranch, hot sauce, honey mustard... it also comes with fries and a fountain drink (with orange soda, fruit punch, root beer, regular soda, Powerade... all the choices my picky kids love!) for $8.25. Cheaper than I pay at fast food chains these days and it was GREAT. Char marks and everything. Yum! You pay by the hour, and for shoe rentals and I do wish that the computer had a timer so you know how far into the hour you are, so you can gauge if you should start a new game or not, if you forgot to look at the time you started after trying to find multiple balls, get appropriately sized shoes and everything it takes to get two kiddos ready to bowl. We will definitely be back, we loved this location.

I will honestly even make the trip up just to come hang out at River City. When you walk inside you have a hostess stand where someone is waiting the help you out. Everyone that we had contact with employee wise were great. Everyone was helpful, kind, and professional We ate first while we waited for our lanes to be open. There is absolutely no complaint about the food here. Everything was great. I had a BLT sandwich. It was jam packed with crispy bacon that I asked for, lettuce, tomato, mayo sandwiched between 2 thick slices of bread. The pizzas looked delicious. They are made in a fire pizza oven. All of the food came out piping hot. Out waitress was great. She was attentive and made sure everything came out, and our drinks were always filled. The waffles were a perfect sweetness, and had a good amount of berries and paired with syrup that I think was maple syrup. My friends, and husband raved about their drink with alcohol. So kudos to the bartenders. The dry rub wings had a great crispy to them and they did not lack seasoning. Lastly, get the cheddar biscuits. They are made fresh, and had great flavor. They had scoop of butter, grape and strawberry jelly. When it came time for bowling. Our bill and drinks were transferred over to the alley tab. Our shoes were waiting for us at the lanes. Bowling was a breeze, and navigating the computer system to keep score was easy. The seating in the alleys were leather couches, and a table to have food at. There was a waitress walking around getting anything we needs, like food, drinks or problems that needed to be solved. Bathrooms were clean and amusing with signage. It made me giggle. The supplies were well stocked. The alleys and property inside and out were very clean. The surrounding area seems to be making a change, but it is still questionable in some areas, and there is a lot of construction nearby. I always felt safe though. There was a misunderstanding with the reservation process and turns out we never had a reservation. Either way Ben stepped up and just made things right. He was great. He took care of us. Customer service is over 5 stars!
