OMG! This food just blew my mind. I drove pass this place every single day for work and today, my friends and I decided to give it a try because who can turn down cheese, fries and malt! However, I still craved for fries, burgers and malt so O ordered the anyway. My friend ordered egg Benedict, which he said was really good. For my burger, it was AWESOME! It was half a pound of beef and the meat was well done but still really really tender. They server it on sourdough bread, which I had never seen before but the combination was such a flavor delight. Their waffle fries are sooooo good: crunch outside but soft and potato-y inside. And you can tell that they use real potatoes for these waffle fries, not frozen pre-packaged fries. The malt was huge and it served with whipped cream. I thought it was good but it wasn't something too out of this world. The gravy portion was skimpy, considering the size of the biscuits, and it turned out to be cold in places and only warm in others; bad microwave! Bad, bad microwave! The sausage in the gravy was cut-up link sausages, and all-in-all it was tasteless other than for the pepper and I pushed it aside. The hashbrowns were decent and there was a sizeable portion. My wife thought the crab and eggs benedict was mediocre, and our friend was less than enthused about the chicken-fried steak. When the waiter came over, I mentioned that the gravy was cold and that he probably ought to pass that along to the kitchen. He said something like "Oh, really?" We asked them "are you seating us now?" and they said no. Then we asked "why are you crossing our name off the list?" and they said "we know you're still waiting". That was odd. They wrote our name down again, and 10 mins later they crossed it off again. We asked again, "are you seating us?" they said no. It was actually my brother who invited us to go get breakfast at Uptown Diner. The place is a "diner". It's a casual feel and so laid back. I did enjoy the server, he was nice. One thing I want to say is that the breakfast portions are pretty big. You definitely get your moneys worth of food. Presentation was eh.. okay. I wouldn't say it's pretty to look at but most important is the taste and I actually enjoyed it. We had lots of leftovers to bring home. Late night Munchy paradise for hungry bar goers!!! Late review. Went here last Saturday night for breakfast. Ordered the carnita Benedict and #2 (eggs, bacon and pancakes). The classic 60 look gives it a nostalgic feeling that most uptown restaurants offer. I don't have any complaint about the carnita Benedict: the eggs were over easy, the black beans, freshly made salsa and hashbrown all complimented to the pork well. I left with a happy stomach and a deflated ego that I wasn't able to eat everything. The portion that you get will satisfied most eaters and price is ridiculously cheap.
