Just threw a surprise party here and was really impressed by how nice of a section the staff already had set up for us. It was also really easy to schedule and plan thanks to their help. We decided to try this place out since we were in the SB area for the weekend. We were greeted at the door by the bar tender (who seemed to pay more attention to the regulars), and he immediately warned us that their bathrooms were out of order. This would explained the foul smell we noticed as we walked in. My wife ordered a lemon drop martini, which tasted like crap. It was way too acidic (probably artificial lemon juice) so I played it safe and ordered a beer on tap. The place has potential, there are comfy chairs and many TVs for sporting events. Plus, they have a juke box with great music. Another reason for the low rating is because they decided to close an hour and a half early even though there were several people still drinking. read more

This is our neighborhood bar and we love it. Great patio with heaters for when it's chilly. Live music that rocks. Pool tables and comfy chairs inside. Good place to watch sports. The staff is friendly and the food is great. I recommend the wood fired pizza or the tri-tip French fries. Delicious! read more

Been going to the Uptown for the past 2 weeks for the World Cup and Tyson (the bartender) has been amazing. So grateful, accommodating and communicative. As you soccer/footy fans know, this is an important tourney and time of year. Okay there's a lot to say about this place. 1. Cool vibe 2. Great trivia 3. Diverse crowd 4. Joey-bartender. Pretty cocky, thinks he can talk his way out of a situation- and he can. He's a charmer. 5. Franco-in the kitchen- is the man. Pizzas are bomb AF -even with out basil 6. Note to future customers-the air conditioners leak so don't leave your pizza underneath- unless it's too hot and you want to cool It down or you are thirsty and too lazy to get a water refill 7. My wife and I drove up from San Diego together for a getaway vacation. Our first stop was Santa Barbara which, except for this dump has been wonderful. I will not make this long as it is not worth my time, or yours. When we walked in, there were several staff members and a bartender just standing around as the place was empty. One of them was leaning against the wall and grunted that we could sit wherever we wanted - no hello - no smile, just a grunt. We found a table, sat down and waited for someone to take our order. The surly guy leaning against the wall looked at us over his shoulder like we were giant cockroaches. I finally asked him if he would please take our order. He took the time to walk over to our table and announce to us that the "waitress" was not on duty yet, so if we wanted a drink, we could go over to the bar and order it ourselves. Then he went back to leaning on the wall and we left. Needless to say we will never be back to this awful place. We rely on Yelp in San Diego and when we travel and have found some truly wonderful places in Santa Barbara, but this was clearly not one of them. If you are a local, or a traveler like us, do yourself a favor and stay away from this terrible place. Santa Barbara has so many beautiful places and wonderful bars and restaurants that you certianly do not need to go to this dung hole. read more

A true Santa Barbara joint! GREAT atmosphere with entertainment and activities every night and some super superb drinks! The service was amazing but the main star is the food! Best pizza in SB (by far!) and unique takes on bar/pub food. They just got a new chef, a great guy, who told us everything is homemade the old fashioned way -- woodfired pizza, handmade dough, smoked meats. Try the Diabolo Pizza and Kea Fries! This is one of the few spots in SB where you can sit outside by a fire-pit and smoke a cigar. I have been here several times and the one thing that is consistent is the employees don't seem to care if you are there or not. The service is mediocre at best and the drinks are inconsistent. The only food I have had was a quesadilla, which was loaded with grease but it was still pretty tasty. Two weeks ago, we had kettle martinis which where poured to the rim of the glass for 8 bucks a piece, two days ago we had kettle martinis which were poured about 3/4 to the top of the glass for 11 bucks a piece??? No one could explain why the price jumped almost 50% in a week.... if they didnt have the firepits and allow cigar smoking, i wouldnt go back read more

Chill place. Yelp doesn't have the correct closing times though. Bartender tells me, "No one uses [yelp] in Santa Barabara." Apparently... They've got two pool tables, and decent drinks. But if you close at midnight, and yelp says 1:30am, do something about it. Any serious business owner doesn't just brush off reviews to their customers. Me and the wifey met another friend here about 7pm on a Thursday night. Nice lighting and a casual atmosphere gives a good vibe. There are several large screens accommodating whatever sport broadcast you might want to see. More than 10 yet less than 20 tables and chairs. A pool table. A smaller cozy couch area out of the way of the screens. A smallish bar area. We needed to leave at 8:30, as a band (jazz combo ?) was setting up. I would have liked to been able to stay and listen. Regardless, I did experience a good pour from the bartender, and a nice crowd. This place seems fine for a couple on a date or a group of people wanting to party at something more than a dive bar. We enjoyed ourselves and I'm sure will return sooner than a later. read more

Used to go here on Thursday nights with my wife, she loved the girl and guy that bartend, so she meets up with her girls there; and I play pool with my boys. I guess there was a new guy there on Thursday night that couldn't care less about being there. And apparently the "manager" hit on my wife too many times for her taste (yeah she's blonde and beautiful and loves attention, I get it, but when even she complains about it I have to take notice). Stinks cuz it's actually not a bad looking bar, I've read the other yelps about urine but never smelled that, but with the lack of caring and service from these guys why go back? This is one of my favorite bars/lounges in SB and in general just to go and hang out. The staff and bartenders are great I like that they always welcome you in and don't ignore you. Cool that they have pool tables, shuffle board, and free popcorn from a popcorn maker by the pool tables. Their food is actually not bad either if you come in for happy hour. They have a wood burning oven which is also not that easy to find in SB. Occasionally we go in for the live bands which often are pretty good. Another thing to point out, that a lot of people don't realize, is in the back patio around to the right their is a wing that house couches and tables and is normally less crowded if you want some more of a private area. Cons I would say is their bathrooms are sometimes out of order(1 of the 2) and this can be a problem when it's busy. Also the music can be too loud on some live music nights. The rap music they play isn't great either sometimes but other times it's fine. Overall a great place though, and a good middle of town location, vs going downtown read more

I'm not much of a bar person, but I was brought to Uptown Lounge by some friends and enjoyed the vibe. The outdoor seating is awesome. They got food & a bar. Tried some fries, they were good. The big sell is the super comfortable furniture and the many big screen tv's that covered the walls. Great place to watch a game, have a beer and eat. TERRIBLE AND UNPROFESSIONAL SERVICE!!! we went for drinks around 6pm with a couple friends.. great atmosphere but terrible service at Uptown. the waitress came around to the table every 30 minutes but was not polite nor did she ever ask if we needed another drink. we had to go inside to the bar and ask for more drinks if we needed them before the waitress delivered the drinkS back at our seat, only to give us a dirty look and eye roll. then the BOUNCER came to clear our table without asking if we were done with our drinks or food. the waitress didn't have any respect to clear the table herself SHE HAD TO ASK THE BOUNCER HERSELF TO CLEAR OUR TABLE AT 9PM!!!! who is trying to hurry WELL PAYING customers out the door???? I've had good experiences here in the past so it gets 3 stars. Food is good and drinks are quick. This time it took 10 minutes to close our tab with one bartender scrambling to work the bar solo while the other bartender in the 49ers Jersey talked on his cell phone out front. I suppose his personal calls were more important than doing his job. read more
