I used this shop a few years ago, but haven't needed any service for quite some time until my transmission was acting up. I called for an appointment and was able to be seen very quickly. Within minutes of me dropping off my car they had it in the bay and we're already working on it. Within a few hours, I received a phone call and an email with pictures on what needed to be done. They said they could fix it that day and it was super reasonable. The week before I had taken it to another mechanic who looked at it for 15 minutes and wanted to charge me $600 more than Urban Auto Care and told me they needed to keep it for three days. I had a trusted mechanic in Chicago for 25 years and I am so happy to have found them and will use them whenever I need service. Jo runs the front desk and she was incredible!!! read more

We have consistently been beyond pleased with our experiences. rom the employees helping us, to the end product, everything has been wonderful. What also sticks out to us, especially since we both come from families of small business owners, is their attention detail and appreciative gestures. We have received hand written thank you cards as well as gift cards from UA as a gesture of their appreciation. I've lost faith in this family owned business. These guys charged me $200 to misdiagnose my car. The full estimate was like $600 bucks on top of the diagnosis charge. I went to a mechanic right up the street and they diagnosed and fixed the issue for $300. I'm not sure if this is industry standard either, but there was absolutely no mention of any charges for the diagnoses UNTIL AFTERWARDS. I would not recommend this place unfortunately. read more

We had my daughters car in for an oil change and some transmission work. They needed to keep the car overnight. They were to text my daughter a code to get the keys out of a lock box but failed to do so. And they admitted to the police that was the case. The car was left outside and was stolen. We ended up having to buy a new car, paying the deductible ourselves, rent a car and go through all the other hassles with insurance because these guys were absolute jug heads. They didn't even apologize for the mistake or make amends in paying our deductible costs. And we even had to pay for the auto work on the stolen car. They might be do a great job at doing an oil change, but their business practices and lack of common security and management regarding vehicles you leave for work are sorely lacking. So if you leave your car overnight don't expect it to be there in the morning. read more

Faulty brake job and I was lucky enough to catch it while home after an 1,100 mile drive. They admitted they messed up and refunded me the cost, but it could have been disastrous consequences. I tried them again for an oil change and they tried to up charge me for a service I didn't ask for. Won't be going back - they are nice and polite, but the quality isn't there so don't be fooled. read more

Fantastic experiences with this shop! We Highly Recommend Urban Auto! We've used them for several years for minor and major repairs. All were done well, quickly and reasonably priced. We are especially pleased with them during our last interaction. Someone attempted to steal our Mazda 5 recently. They totally destroyed our ignition and battery, but fortunately did not manage to get the car started. Urban Auto did a thorough examination of the damage worked quickly and seamlessly with our wonderful Allstate insurance for a to get us back on the road as fast as possible. They kept in touch with us constantly as well. They will definitely be our go to auto repair for years to come. read more

Urban replaced my timing belt in 2023, which included removing and replacing coolant hoses. A few weeks ago, the car overheated. I had it towed to Urban. They told me the overheating was due to a coolant link, which in turn was caused by the hose replacements during the previous timing belt work. So they replaced the radiator under warranty at no cost to me. Thanks, Urban, for taking responsibility for your work! My car will never go to a different mechanic. read more

Been bringing my cars here for years, once I realized I didn't have to take my new car to the dealership to have the oil changed. Their mechanics (we particularly like Marc Olson) are diligent, tells us what needs to be done right away and what can wait a few more miles. Trust them completely. We even bought a fantastic used car that was on their bulletin board for sale. Figured if someone had been taking their car to Comprehensive for the life of the car, we couldn't go wrong. read more

Nice "hometown" shop. Our Jeep is a bit complicated, took a chance had it towed down the street to them. The ran a diagnostic test and combed through a few items. Than called admit they where not efficiently finding the problem. They where honest, did not want to waste their time or my time by replacing the wrong or unneeded parts. Suggesting I go to a specialist. Because they could not properly diagnose they did not charge me. Simply paid for the tow and started a good relationship. I have 4 cars and will be back. read more

I agree with other posts. Most of the positive ratings pertain to Comprehensive, the previous owner. During my first visit under new ownership, there was some drama with a former employee who told me he left the new company because they were too corporate. Second visit had to be rescheduled as an employee had called in sick. Understandable but curious. My big issues after the last visit (October 2021:) 1. They tried to sell me a $110 power steering flush - they had done a flush in April 2021 after replacing the power steering pressure hose. They ended up doing the flush for free explaining that flushes don't always get all the bad fluid, hmmm? 2. Had oil change done. Noticed fluid on the garage floor a couple of days later. I quickly realized they had forgotten to tight the oil drain plug. It was only finger tight. Figured I lost about a pint of oil. Really disappointed in this shop. I liked the convenience of the shop on Evans but will seriously consider other shops like Pearl Automotive or Elder. I have had positive experiences with both with our other car. read more

My husband and I really love and value this auto shop. We have an older car (Toyota Corolla 2009). Urban Autocare has worked on our car twice this year and we trust that with their help we can keep our car driving for another 100,000-150,000 miles. I had a unique problem with my Honda Civic, the antenna broke and was dangling on the exterior of my car. I went in and they were able to order the correct part and get me in the next day to fix it. It's rare to find an auto repair shop that specializes in Honda, so I was a little nervous that the price was going to be outrageous. I expected a really high number, while the price wasn't what I wanted to hear, it definitely wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. While I was waiting, a woman came in to pick up her car and she had them run a computer diagnostics on her car - cost $100 and there was nothing wrong with the car. $100 to do the test, YIKES! I was lucky, she was not. But she also sounded like a regular - though, if that's how they treat a regular, it makes me question if I was taken for a ride too. Pricing aside, I trust the work they did. It was quick and efficient, I maybe waited for a half hour - they don't have a large waiting area, I suggest dropping your car and coming back (if you have a friend that can pick you up). read more

I was really hoping to have a positive experience based on all the good reviews. However that didn't happen. We scheduled days out to have our Subaru repaired. My husband told them that that there was a leak in one of the fuel lines as we smelled gas and most likely a leak in the power steering, as he had filled it a couple times and it wasn't holding the fluid. On the day of our appointment I dropped it off. They made me sign for diagnostic time stating it was probably too high an estimate, but he wanted to make sure there was plenty of time for the mechanic to thoroughly diagnose. "OK". He said they would call and let us know what they found so we could proceed. That sounded pretty standard. When they called they merely repeated our first problem back to us. Leak in fuel line. "Which line? Did you find the leak?" Their response. "No we didn't put it on the lift, just a parking lot diagnosis they all look old." And for the second problem "It needs power steering fluid". My husbands response. "yes I know, but when I fill it, it doesn't stay full, that's why I'm here". Well we didn't see anything, "we are real busy, and we have to order in parts want to schedule it in 2 weeks?" That will be $80." What a complete scam! $80 to read us back our problems???? read more

We had been taking our cars to Comprehensive Auto Care for years. We really liked and trusted Joe & Jeff. We were wary when the chop changed hands but decided to continue with them. The first time we took the car in, it was okay. However, when I dropped off the car this time, I received a very comprehensive list of expensive items that "needed to be done" that included new tires (a brand I did not want), front brakes and rotors, brake fluid, etc., etc. The total amount for all of these items was over $2200. I authorized the oil change, filter changes and some other minor items. I immediately called Costco and got Michelin All Season Tires for less than what was quoted. I also called Brakes Plus and got all of the work done for 1/3 of what was quoted. Needless to say, we won't be going back to Urban Autocare. read more

I own a 1998 Toyota Rav4, and I've been using Comprehensive Car Care for two years or so, mostly for oil changes. However I've yet to have a negative experience. The guys that work there are friendly and fair, which is saying a lot compared with other auto shops in the area. I was having a lot of trouble with a stalling problem and instead of making something up and trying to charge me 800 plus dollars to replace my shocks, (which has nothing to do with stalling and is what I was told to do at another auto shop) they said they couldn't find the source of the problem, and to bring it back as soon as it stalled again so they could try and replicate the problem and fix it. The best part about the whole experience was that it was free of charge! I also want to mention that they give out oil change punch cards. I believe every 4th or 5th time is free, so next time you're there be sure to pick one up. read more

On a recommendation from a friend I've been taking my '02 WRX to Comprehensive for several years now. These guys always do good work. They're great about only fixing what's needed and giving you a heads up on what services you may need in the near future (i.e. it isn't broken now but you'll want to get it fixed soon). I'm very satisfied with Comprehensive Car Care. I take my Land Cruiser in for regular checkups and oil changes, and have used them to fix other shops' shoddy work, in fact. It's a sign of pride that they only work on Toyota/Lexus, Honda/Acura, and Subaru, and I think it's pretty cool that the technician who worked on my vehicle has the same model in his own garage. (My only complaints are not their fault, namely that their location is not convenient to Stapleton and that they get enough M-F business that they don't have weekend hours.) read more

I give Comprehensive Car Care my highest recommendation. This was the most positive experience by far that I have ever had with a mechanic. My Subaru Impreza was recently stolen and then recovered in pretty bad shape. I brought it here and they did a detailed inspection and advocated for me with my insurance to get every repair covered. They were kind, professional, honest, and got my car back to great condition! I had never been through this process before and they went above and beyond to make sure I understood everything, and supported me through a stressful time. It was very clear throughout this whole process that Jeff and Joe are not only experts at their work but truly kind and respectful people. After 20 years of taking my Subaru(s) to a family mechanic (now on the other side of town) I thought I would try my neighborhood shop. I expected high prices, but I figure if the number of cars always there is an indicator of good business, they must be doing something right. The service was friendly, honest, fair-priced and fast. My car drives like new. Did I mention I didn't feel ripped off? Did I mention I felt the price was fair? (maybe not the cheapest, but ill pay a little extra for honest and friendly) Take your car here, I will second other reviews that they are only fixing what is needed. If I can't afford it that day, they will tell me honestly if I can afford to wait a few months. I will be going back. read more

I take my Honda here because they specialize in Hondas, Toyotas, etc. They are pretty trustworthy guys who always let me know if there are any other issues. They defintely aren't the cheapest around but also not the most expensive. I trust them because of their level of expertise. Get a punch card for your oil changes and your fourth one will be free. read more

They are not comprehensive. They cannot do some basic auto repairs. The are more like a glorified oil change shop. They don't have full diagnostic capabilities or even a basic alignment machine. Go elsewhere, you'll have to anyway for most work you need except the basics. These guys are nice, but honestly a waste of time. read more

I have a 1994 Accord....it's old. Took it to Firestone to get the tires rotated and they told me that I needed new brakes, it'd cost me well over $400 and I needed to get them TODAY. I took my car to comprehensive the next day and they told me I don't need new brakes, but probably will at some time in the next year...and oh, by the way, those jerks at Firestone rotated your tires incorrectly so we fixed them... and no charge for today! I've been going there for years and completely trust these guys! read more

I'll preface this by saying I've been bringing my Subaru to Comprehensive Car Care for 2 and half years, largely without issue. It's been a little pricey, but the service was fine - never terribly friendly, but always competent, which is what you go for. I recently sold my (very high mileage) Subaru and picked up a Kia Spectra with much, much lower mileage. I called CCC earlier this week to set up an appointment because my wife and I are taking a very long road trip later this week. When I arrived, we started going through the details (I just needed a basic check up to make sure everything was in order). When he asked for the make and model, I started to say Kia Spectra- and he cut me off "We don't work on Kia's here." Well okay, I said, I've been bringing my Subaru here for a couple years and didn't realized that they had restrictions. Could he make any recommendations? Nope. Just a curt suggestion to take my car somewhere where they "work on everything." Not that I can take my car back there, but even if I could, I don't think I would. read more

I live nearby and its really convenient to go to CCC, but twice I felt their estimate was high and actually called the Subaru dealer and found it to be much less costly (like half the price!!). I will only go to CCC for oil changes and will go elsewhere for major repairs. Do your homework!! read more

I've taken my car to these guys for over 5 years, and it's the only place I'll take it. They've always been completely honest about what needs to be done and how important it is. There have even been a couple times where I brought it in thinking something serious was wrong, and it was something really simple that they just fixed at no charge. Another time, I was convinced I needed a new clutch. Once they inspected it, they explained what was actually going on and said that, although they'd replace it if I wanted, they'd hate for me to throw a bunch of money at something that doesn't really need to be done yet. That would have been a lucrative repair for them. That's the only kind of experience I've ever had there: honesty, integrity, and they know what they're doing. read more

This shop is right near my house, so it's very convenient to drop our cars off for maintenance. They really know their stuff, which i guess is made easier by the fact that they only service Honda/Toyota/Subaru (no other Japanese cars). Our Honda and Subaru are older, and the mechanics at CCC really seem to know how to keep them rolling along, with as few squeaks and rattles as possible. :) And we've always been able to get an appointment at the drop of a hat. I haven't done any comparison shopping, but their convenience and quality seem worth the price. Unfortunately, now that i've traded the Honda in for a Suzuki SX4, i'll need to find another shop for the Suzuki ... read more
