But, the girl working there was kind enough to give me and my friends who were there to support me a coupon for $5 off anything in the store. So I brought that the next day and got my piercing done. Went to Urban Body for kind of an impulse navel piercing. The lady at the front desk was very nice and patient with me. This is my first time getting pierced aside from Clair's for the earloop. I was a bit nervous and had tons of questions. The artist that was Kat? not sure whether thats her name. but she had bright purple hair. She was super friendly and calmed me down. Explained the procedure in details and spent 10 minutes or more answering my questions. I was nervous because my navel is too outie and cannot do the normal piercing. I can only do the invert or just a dermal. I went with the invert and it turns out nicely. I was expecting lots of pain (I can't even handle flu shot) but it was just a small quick pinch. read more

I've been here a couple of times for piercings including piercings on my lobes, nose and targus. My piercings were done by different people each time and they were all really nice about it. But perhaps because I have so many piercings, I didn't quite bother asking too many questions so I didn't have to deal with attitude like what some others described. Piercings were done super efficiently. Service at the counter also has always been great. The girls at the counter were always super helpful and willing to answer questions. So, I actually would highly recommend this place for piercings, especially since they are open for walk-ins. So for piercings, I actually would have given this place a 5. But, I have also been here to accompany a friend while she got her tattoo done and just in comparison to Primary Concepts, Primary Concepts while a tad bit more expensive is definitely a better place to go to for tattoos. The tattoo artist, while nice, just left out some information until after the tattoo was done on my friend. Also, the rooms here are small, so makes me feel rather claustrophobic every time I am here. So for these reasons, they get a 3. In short, great place for piercings, but if you have the time and money, I would definitely recommend Primary Concepts instead. read more

I got my septum pierced here a few weeks ago by a very nice woman (whom I forgot the name of even though I asked her at the end). She told me exactly what she was doing the entire time. The whole process was very quick and took less than 10 minutes. Afterwards she informed me about the aftercare. I thanked her then paid for everything at the front. He woman who was working there was also very friendly. Including the jewelry, I paid around $45. It's been a couple weeks since and my piercing is healing nicely. It's also not done crooked which was something I was initially afraid of. In conclusion, I had a great experience at urban body and would come back for another piercing in the future. read more

On my birthday, I went to get a nose piercing.. i have been pierced on my ears multiple times but this was my first time on my face so i was quite nervous. I have a very low pain tolerance so that made me nerves sky rocket as well. I came in with my friend and everything was going well and had great service until i was sitting on the table and one of the workers began to start prepping, i was laughing with my friend because of how high my nerves were but i was excited and ready as well. I was very taken back when the women working on me turned around and asked me how old i was. i was excited cause it was my birthday so i enthusiastically answer "I turned 18 yesterday!" she then proceeded to tell me to "act my age" when all i was doing was laughing, she hadn't even started to pierce yet. I've had a wonky piercing in my right ear for years, putting in jewlery and seaching for that back opening got to be more trouble then the earrings were worth. I went in to Ubran Body, and asked if they could fix it for me. Bear in mind I'm OLD. They were very kind, the tech that did my ear listened to my difficulty, inspected, confirmed that she not only saw the problem, she could fix it. The piercing was FAST and as painless as could be. I think I've hurt myself worse putting in earrings. I'm thrilled with the result. My ears look great. Healing was easy, and I'd go back in a heartbeat. Got my Helix pierced in SoCal late Aug. 2014. The swelling went down and all was well until all of a sudden it swelled again! No matter how much I cleaned it, the swelling wouldn't go down. I finally came in to Urban Body for some advice Apr. 2015. They told me about salt soaks (which my previous piercing parlour didn't tell me anything about) and let me know that helix's under a year old are prone to swell again and that it's totally normal! They really know their stuff! I only came in to buy some salt for the salt soaks when I let the receptionist know about my problem. She asked to see my piercing and upon examination realized that I needed my bar changed to a hoop ASAP (it had swollen so much the flesh almost covered the back of the bar). They did it for me then and there. I was super nervous since I hadn't originally come in expecting someone to fiddle with my sensitive piercing. My piercer (Katrina?) was super sweet, confident, and had a very soothing voice. Pretty painless and easy procedure. Very professional. read more

I called first to check prices and make sure Avi was there, since I got multiple recomendations to go to him. The girl at the front desk said he was about to run some errands, but would i be able to come in around 6? I informed them that my college class starts at 5 so i wouldn't make it. I let them know i would be coming from woodland so it would be a little bit of a drive. He stayed there waiting for me (which was good cause he got another piercing in by the time i came in), which i thought was really sweet to do. I filled out the paperwork and chatted with the girl up front, who is super nice aswell. The place looked really clean and organized. The selection for the starting nose jewelery wasn't too big, which for me was a good thing cause I could have been there all day picking what to get done. When i got in the room he first put on gloves and was talking with me about the piercing while he was prepping for it. He answered all my questions in a nice tone without any scrutinizing. He then informed me that people tend to tear up since the piercing it so close to the eyes and to not be embarassed if I do. He talked me through it and marked a spot on my nose, which i thought was a good spot. He talked me through the needle insertion with a calm voice and was gentle with it. He even congratulated me for not tearing up like most. He explained all of the aftercare instructions for both ways without me telling which i got. Went here several times last year, as I know many who fell for that piercing fad (me for one, too haha) For piercings it usually runs between $20-40 + cleaning materials, if I remember correctly. I've gotten my lobes, tragus, and triple forward helix here and all three times, my piercers have been very professional and my piercings have turned out amazing. Lobes - pierced with a needle, I dont remember how much it cost Tragus - pierced with a needle, pretty quick and easy, didnt hurt as much as I thought it would. Cost ~ 65 bucks with the solution and salt Triple forward helix - I have actually gone to a couple of places to see if I could get this piercing and all of them said no, except for urban body, so I had it pierced here. My piercer ( I dont remember her name, but she had a dermal in the middle of her chest) basically pierced three separate holes and to be honest, I thought it was going to be pretty painful but it was pretty bearable ! My piercer was really helpful and telling me what she was going to do and my piercing turned out great! Cost ~$120 or 140 without the cleaning solution All in all, I'm as satisfied as I can be with my piercings but the prices do turn me off . read more

Got my eyebrow pierced here once upon a time... About two hours before my stats class. It was pretty empty when I went because well, it was the middle of the day on a Monday. It's a pretty small place but VERY CLEAN, which is always extremely important. I was admittedly pretty nervous but like everything else I've ever shat bricks over, it wasn't bad at all. It was super fast and just a slight pinch. The clamp pinches harder than actually getting the needle rammed through your skin. My piercer, Clint, who doesn't work there anymore and is supposedly hated by everyone who works there today, was very nice and fortunately pretty attractive. I say fortunately because it's NOT okay to cry like a baby in front of the attractive piercer man. A few months later I came in to change my barbell from steel to black titanium. The barbell was $30 and cost $5 to change it. If I knew I was gonna get charged for it, I would've done it myself. Nonetheless, I still have fond memories of this place taking my piercing virginity. read more

Just came in to change the post of my helix piercing. I've been meaning to change it for a while but kept putting it off. Walked by Urban and thought, eh why not now. The lady in the front was very nice. She took a look at my piercing and helped me decide which length I should get as well as changed my flat backing to a ball. Apparently an edge of the flat backing I had was pushing against my ear and that's what was making it uncomfortable for me to lay on that side. I also asked to see the tragus piercing jewelry selection they had. Not the greatest, just the normal stud fronts. I've been into other shops where the jewelry looks a little questionable but not this place. All the jewelry that I looked at in the shop seems to look of good quality though! If you have sensitive ears(like me), this place seems to have safe jewelry for you! Haven't gotten a piercing here or tattoo so can't say much on that :( maybe next time. If I were to get pierced or get a tattoo in Davis I would definitely look into this shop. read more

I'm split with whether Urban Body is any good. Their price is comparable to places in Sacramento despite the fact that they all but have a monopoly over Davis. I am currently getting a tattoo by Chris, and I couldn't be happier. Chris is punctual, responsible, and a fantastic artist. He gave me my first tattoo last year and was totally helpful with making me feel comfortable and informed about what he was doing. The shop is clean, and most of the staff is very nice. I will say, however, that there are a few staff people that I saw ignore customers, just leave the shop to run errands, or sit outside and smoke while their customers waited, which I thought was pretty lame. My opinion is that if you want to get pierced, you're probably better off going somewhere else, maybe in sacramento. If you're getting a tattoo, go to Chris, he's amazing. read more

Very welcoming staff - I felt very comfortable going in there twice, once for my friend and once for my second ear piercing. Chelsea talked me through the quick process and even encouraged me to come back if I had any concerns with aftercare. She was also very patient as I debated over the positioning of the piercing. It'd be nice if they would allow us to bring in our own earring (with signed agreement) because I didn't want to spend an extra $16-18 when I already had my own. The smallest and cheapest stud that I chose ended up going through my earlobe multiple times so I had to switch it out less than a week later. After switching, it healed within two weeks and doesn't hurt anymore. I would definitely come again because the price (less than $40) is still reasonable and everyone there is incredibly nice. read more

My boyfriend recently got tatted here by Chris. He's fuckin' awesome and hilarious. My boyfriend's tattoo came out just how he wanted it to. Chris makes you feel welcomed and comfortable. Minus one star because of the receptionist. She told my boyfriend the tattoo would cost $150 to $250 max. At the end of the session, Chris said it would be $300. It's not Chris's bad. Bestie and I walked in on Wednesday afternoon to see if someone could get us in for some ink "this weekend." We had an image but wanted an artist to draw it up for us and be a little creative with it. We had tried 2x to get in at another shop but the artist had been out all week. The staff at Urban Body was super friendly and set aside 5 hours for us on Friday afternoon to get our pieces done. Luckily Jordan Mitchell was available, and down to do our work, which we were happy about since we'd seen his images online and liked his style. They only made us put down one deposit ($40 non refundable) for the both of us. Then we partied way hard on Thursday night and were kinda late showing up on Friday. We called to give them a heads-up and they were super friendly and ready to go the minute we walked in the door. Jordan was friendly, professional, a very fast artist and our pieces look AMAZING. The price was incredibly reasonable for the quality, and I for sure will be back for more. read more

Updating my review from 2011, and I am still completely happy with Urban Body. I met and knew Avi outside of the shop (we shared a class at Sac City), and he has since moved back to Israel, where he operates Urban Body Tel Aviv. Before he left, Urban Body Davis celebrated their 10th birthday and I stopped in to say hello. Avi told me I should get a piercing since everything was half off for the day, and I asked how long the line was going to take since I was with a friend and couldn't stick around for long. He said he would go ask, and told the counter person that I would be next in line! I was so humbled and appreciative, it was such a nice gesture. The piercing itself was done by Kat when she was still there, and I still love it. It was a second helix piercing to compliment my first. This was almost 3 years ago. Since then, I've recently gone back with a friend and we were both pierced by Chelsea (who I also happened to meet outside of the shop at a party!). I contacted her beforehand to see what days she worked, and decided to go in on a Thursday. My friend and I both got two forward helix piercings each - mine on one ear and hers on both ears. Chelsea has the most soothing voice when she's piercing, it's comforting. She walks you through the process as she's doing it and asks you to breathe in deep, and then out as she puts the needle through. I am so absolutely pleased not only with Chelsea herself, but my piercings as well. They look pretty awesome and are healing wonderfully. I was bitten by the piercing bug and already want to go in for more, but am waiting until these heal before I consider anything. All in all, still super happy with Urban Body! read more

I really love Urban Body. I've gotten one of my piercings there (with Avi) and two tattoos from Chris. Both Avi and Chris have been great. Jacks (I hope I have her name right) is wonderful as well. While it's nice to be happy with where I've gotten a piercing (and I am happy with my piercing from Urban Body), I'm far pickier with tattoos. I really can't recommend Chris enough. He is a really cool, down to earth guy, is a great tattoo artist, is patient in listening to your tattoo ideas and in answering your questions, and really makes you feel comfortable. Multiple atypical piercings I've gotten from here have done fabulously. I've even come here for piercings that they had never done before and the owner was willing to do them regardless and they turned out really well. One piercing was done poorly and I went back after it healed up and had them redo it for free and it worked much better the second time. They are pretty good with sterility though they should definitely make sure they show clients every step of the process to make sure they know that things are being done with sterile technique. I am a regular customer and am more than disappointed with this business; I have gotten over 15 piercings here and the tattoo artist working at 12:50 was passive aggressive. About a month ago I was looking for a tattoo artist, to tattoo a koi fish. I looked online and found urban-body.com. I clicked on Jordan M. profile, and saw that he had done some koi fish. A couple of days later I went to the shop and showed him a picture. He then asked if he could modify the pic, i told him no problem. I came a in a couple of days later, and he showed me the koi that he drew up. It was amazing!!!. Jordan is an awesome artist. He is very professional and punctual. Had my nostril done by Kat I believe, about two weeks ago, and nearly 6 days later I was so impressed with how quickly it healed, the quality of service and reasonable price I went back to get my septum done by Chelsea. Both piercings were done free-hand and without clamps (which I was a bit worried about), but my septum is not crooked at all and is healing pretty nicely. Chelsea taught me how to flip it up and down. Overall AMAZING piercings, great price, clean environment, professional service. Best piercing place in Davis. read more

My friends and I had a horrible customer service experience here from one of the people working. We were unaware that taking pictures of the artwork wasn't allowed: there was not a sign or warning telling us this, and we didn't know because, well, we're a bunch of college students with no tattoo experiences. The tattoo artist (I'm not sure of his name) yelled at my friend for taking a picture of the art, and yelled at the rest of us as well (no one else had taken a picture). There were many other ways in which he could have politely asked us to delete the picture, but he was very condescending, not just then, but also when we inquired about tattoos. He said something along the lines of "I won't do it because you're gonna take your little selfies and then get over it". My friend and I went to get piercings, and we only stayed because we had already filled out the paperwork. The ONLY reason I gave Urban Body 2 stars is because the piercer was professional and nice, he got us both out for 2nd lobe piercings in no longer than 15 minutes. I literally created a Yelp account to write this review because Urban Body is so great. I've been to Urban Body three times now, and every time has been incredible! Such nice people working there, and I have always felt comfortable with each piercing I've gotten. My first visit I got my tragus done, and it was so quick and easy, my piercer (can't recall their name) was helpful and gave me all the information I needed to have a smooth healing process. Then I got two helix piercings done with Regina (thankfully she gave me her business card so I do remember her name!) who is AMAZING and so good at what she does. Today I got my nose pierced also with Regina, and I was in and out in less than 20 minutes! Both times, Regina told me all that I needed to know and guided me through the piercing process so that I knew what she was doing and I was prepared for everything. Urban Body's customer service is also fantastic, I've never had a negative experience with anyone working there. The woman at the front desk (again can't recall the name, I am terrible with names, but has dark curly hair) is so friendly and helpful, she truly makes each visit so pleasant. Urban Body has a great selection of starter jewelry as well, I've always been thrilled with what I've been able to pick out and haven't had any issues with my piercings because the jewelry is all made of quality material. All of my piercings from here were done professionally, they look great, and I couldn't be happier that I found this place! Would give higher than 5 stars if I could. Got a double helix done here and it got infected a week later. Before getting it done I specifically mentioned I have sensitive ears so I would need the jewelry that my ear would be okay with. A week later it clearly looked infected so knowing I would need medication I went to my doctor who strongly advised getting them out so that's what I did. I went back to urban body to talk about the situation and the first thing the piercer said was "why did you go to the doctor?" Like what?? Clearly I had an infection and needed medication! Ear infections are very serious so I wasn't going to wait around for it to get worse. Her tone was very condescending as she insinuated I was to blame. Obviously my first instinct was to see a doctor and not her because she could not give me a medical diagnosis nor medication, it's common sense. This is not my first piercing and I know how to take care of them and knew how it looked was not okay. They only offered to re-pierce it with the same jewelry and I would have to pay again. There's no way I would waste more money to do that again with them. I do not trust this place and would not recommend it to anyone. read more

My daughter and step-daughter had a terrible experience here today. The front desk lady, Arlene, should not be working in customer service. She was rude from the start. My step-daughter, who is 14, came in to get her ears pierced and Arlene was so condescending. She made my step-daughter feel terrible because she was trying to get her ears pierced and did not have a parent present. We gave her a gift certificate for Christmas and were never told that a parent had to be present. Arlene laughed at my daughters and made the whole process very difficult. When they came back with a parent Arlene had a bad attitude and now demanded a birth certificate in a patronizing tone. She then said that the girls' Mom was not their Mom and needed to see her ID. The whole process took 3 1/2 hours. At one point she raised her voice and said she did not have to do anything for us and "wasn't going to be nice." When some other customers came in she started talking about us and laughing in a very unprofessional way. She should not be at the front desk interacting with customers. Big Dave the piercer was awesome! Thank goodness but at that point the girls were so upset it was hard to look on the bright side! read more

I scheduled a second lobe piercing over email and Cynthia was super helpful in setting up the appointment and answering any pricing questions. Came in a little late and felt really bad about it but was still able to keep my appointment (FYI: if you're late by 10 min or more, your appointment will be cancelled. Definitely call ahead of time if you think you're going to be a little late). The entire establishment was super clean and I felt safe being there: there were multiple hand sanitizers present in the waiting area and a bin was set up to place clipboards and pens after using. Regina walked me through the entire piercing process and followed up with aftercare after the piercing. She was really sweet and super accommodating; she asked about future piercing plans to make sure that the placement of the piercings was just right. Regina also gave me the aftercare instructions on paper as well as her business card in case I needed to get a hold of her if I had any issues at all during the healing period. These type of places are suppose to feel clean.
