I called their shop to ask how much a nipple piercing was and the woman who answered said "$45" I asked if it included jewelry and she said "yes", so... I came in and the overall total for nipple piercings was $81. I was shocked because I was prepared to pay $45, but I forked up $81 because I've been wanting to get my nipples pierced for quite some time. $25 for one nipple $20 for the other nipple $14.95 for ONE bar $14.95 for the other bar $6(something) for tax Javi was friendly and did not make me feel uncomfortable; the procedure was quick and extremely painful, but the overall result was pleasing. Most people wonder how painful the procedure is and if you lose sensitivity, I would say that the initial pain was excruciating but brief. I experienced far more pain when he pierced my right nipple compared to my left. We walked from my friend's house so the walk back was slow and unpleasant because of the vibrations of my steps. Contrary to what some people think, I did not lose any sensitivity; I would say that they are more sensitive post piercing. The shop itself is tidy and clean; I'll most likely return for another piercing. *If pain is a reason why you are contemplating to not get a piercing, I say: FEEL THE FEAR, DO IT ANYWAY! If I could give it a 0 stars I would, but +1 star for the apologetic woman at the front desk. This review is overdue (~Aug 2019) but I've decided to still post my experience because I'm thinking of getting my second tattoo now & I'm 10000% NOT coming back here. I wanted a small venus symbol (circle w/ a cross underneath it) on my ankle. No one could possibly f up such a simple design, but coming here proved me wrong. This man quickly sketched it up and pasted it on my ankle. He gave me extremely little time to decide whether I liked it because he began quickly loading up the ink in front of me after he rushed me to a mirror. Immediately, I knew his venus symbol looked like... a crooked BOBBLEHEAD! I asked if the design could be modified in any way and he said it "had to be that way" bc if the circle was any smaller it would collapse in on itself. It's hard to stand up for yourself when it's your first tattoo experience and the man you're supposed to trust is pretty much pressuring you bc it "had to be that way." I gathered all my courage and said I couldn't do it because the design wasn't up to my expectations. This man became extremely unprofessional and spiteful towards me, saying he usually charges $$ for even a design, said MULTIPLE times I was a waste of time, and I owed him $50 i think but he'll let me off because he's feeling nice. I was in complete shock and tried to hide some tears as I gathered my stuff and walked out. The woman at the front at least tried to say some apologies when I left, so shout out to her. If anyone's wondering what happened afterwards [this is NOT a promo of anything, i have 0 incentive to say this next part], after weeks of re-deciding if this tattoo idea was worth it, I went to another tattoo/piercing studio a few blocks away to see this venus symbol through. The woman at the second tattoo studio sketched up the design (it looked PERFECT; the circle collapsing in on itself is true but only if the circle is puuuny & technique is trash. f that man at urban body who gave me 0/10 advice) and she was beyond nice, understanding, and empathetic. I wish there was a way to review people instead of the overall experience of a shop. Every time I have been in this shop I have been met with friendly people and service. I have had several piercings done here by the owner and Chelsea. Also Chelsea is great with kids. She totally pro and so friendly and fast. The shop is clean and has good hours and a great jewelry selection. The artist Chris' work is EXCELLENT. The receptionist is very helpful. Recently my friend and I went in to see the walk in artist Jason for some simple script. He could not have been more rude. He was loud, aggressive, condescending and just a total jerk. He had no interest in working that day or working with a customer to get creative and figure out a great tattoo. It was unbelievable and we walked out without getting anything. I would never let a person with that type of energy or attitude do any permanent work on my body and I'm pretty shocked he even works there given the caliber of the rest of the staff. read more

I had my second and third lobe piercing here in span of 4 weeks! I had mine done by a male piercer.. but I forgot his name. Anyways my ear is doing well and there has not been any irritation or infection. Totally recommend this place! I'll be going back for more. read more

Urban Body - Piercing Near Me - Davis, California

I got a few things done here. I got my industrial pierced here and my lip piercing done here. I got the industrial done in 2004 and the person who did it was great. Lip piercing in 2008 was ok. Awhile back I came here to get a new lip jewelry and the two girls working the counter were real rude. They were more concern with their gossip than actually helping me out (and seriously, I was the only customer there). After that incident, I vowed to never come back. Plus, 6 months later after my lip piercing healed, I went to Soul Patch to get it changed and the guy was telling me Urban Body had given me an inferior lip stud with a bad closing (in which the industry had stopped using). Seriously though, after that awful experience of talking to those two skanks, I've had it with this place. read more

Ugh...this review is long overdue. I went to Urban Body several years ago (circa 2011) to get a second lobe piercing. I told them I was allergic to metals like nickel and anything that is not sterling silver or higher quality. I paid over $30 for the studs so I thought they were a high quality metal or surgical steel at least. Since lobe piercings are very straightforward, I didn't think there was any way this could go wrong. Six months later, the pierced holes still hadn't healed and would bleed every time I took the earrings out. I went back to have them check it out, but they didn't seem to care and blamed me for it, saying that I hadn't cleaned them properly. I knew this couldn't be possible as SIX whole months had already passed. Even without extensive daily cleaning, there is no way a lobe piercing wouldn't heal after a couple months. Finally, I took out the studs from Urban Body and replaced them with a pair of sterling silver ones that I had. My lobes quickly healed after that - no more bleeding! This was over a year later (almost two years I think) after the original piercing! Basically, I spent about 1.5 years with unhealed piercings that would bleed periodically. In hindsight, this was unacceptable and I should have done something sooner, so shame on me for placing so much trust in the "professionals" who would not acknowledge any wrongdoing. I have no idea what kind of cheapo metal studs Urban Body is selling for $30+++ but it definitely messed up my ears for well over a year. By the time I figured this all out, it seemed too late to go back and ask for my money back. When I was a kid, I got my first lobe piercing done at freaking Claire's and never ever encountered this sort of problem. Again, I HAVE NO IDEA how Urban Body failed at doing the simplest kind of piercing possible, especially after I had informed them that I was allergic to certain metals. And when I went back to ask about the fact the piercings hadn't healed, they pretty much didn't give a crap or wouldn't own up to it. Four years later, I am still pissed that Urban Body is such a phony ripoff. read more

Each and every time, an employee greeted me and then left me alone to decide what I wanted- PERFECT! I appreciate that they have a relaxed attitude and are not all "up-in-your-face" trying to sell something unless you ask for advice. After I've decided, they escort me to their back room. Every time, I see them take out clean, sterilized instruments and wait for me to be ready to be stricken with a needle before I tear up like a baby. They thoroughly walk me through the aftercare process (to which I follow to the T and have never had many problems). They sell you the salt and cleaning agents but it's not a big deal, I buy it out of convenience there. I also ONLY come during their Anniversary Sale haha for like 50% off whatnot and they know, yet they don't treat me any differently or worse :) Kudos! This review is long overdue. I came here months ago to buy some piercings because they were having a special. Point is I truly believe one of the cashiers was discriminating me. They had a lot of piercings out for customers to examine, and she notice someone had been stolen some. I guess she assumed it was me because she kept talking negatively about the thefts to me as if she was hinting to me. And I attempted to ignore this because I wanted to buy piercings. I asked her for a suggestions, and she just gave me a face and said okay with attitude. I will never go back. I really wanted to get a piercing here too because it's relatively inexpensive, but I always think about that day every time I think about going back. I'm still mad because she treated other customers with better respect than me. She even offered them sea salt and soap and told them how to insert the piercings. Even the other cashier who charged me didn't help me much. I hope it was misunderstanding, but it just upsets me. There was many other girls around me but they choose to treat me wrong. read more

i've gotten 8 piercings here since 2016. both sides of my nose (2016 & 2018), double helix (2019), 2nd earlobe (2020), and 3rd earlobe (2021) on both ears. when i got my 3rd lobe, my boyfriend came along and got his first earlobes done. every experience has been immaculate. the place is always clean and the piercers follow all proper procedures. they walk you through everything and explain each step to ensure you're as comfortable as possible. my first nose piercing was done by eric, who is amazing and provides awesome customer service. my 3rd lobe, and boyfriends first lobes, were done by a pleasantly wonderful older lady (can't remember her name for the life of me, but she had fun colors in her hair). had great conversation with her and she even gave me advice on my tragus jewelry, which i didn't get pierced here (but i should have). i can't remember specifically who did my other 5 piercings (brain fog) but i remember my experience always being WONDERFUL. i've always left this place feeling happy, confident, and cared for. jewelry is a bit expensive but you get what you pay for, i've never had issues with ANY jewelry. the lady at the front desk (dark hair, i think the owner) has a no bullshit approach to how she runs this place, i love it. she won't deal with rude, entitled customers which is a great quality to have. they are here to provide a professional service, not to be walked all over. their covid policies are set in stone and make you feel safe. i cant speak on the tattoos here because i've never gotten one at this shop, but as far as the piercings go, this is the place to be!!!! you can surely get piercings cheaper at other places, but you will not get the same precision, care, and quality. i will always come back here for awesome piercings, beautiful jewelry, and outstanding customer service. i would give more stars if i could!!!! read more

My situation at Urban Body was different from the norm. I had my belly button pierced at a shop in San Diego, where I go to school. While home for summer, literally minutes before going on a camping trip, my piercing fell out. While I had to leave home without a piece of mental through my naval, I called my brother who hadn't left for the campsite yet and he kindly went to Claire's to pick me up a cheap (understatement) piece to keep the hole from closing. Unfortunately the hole did close since it was a fresh piercing and I repierced it myself with a cheap hunk of junk from Claire's in the wilderness. I wouldn't recommend doing this. Two days later after camping, I stopped at Urban Body while on my way to Roseville to get a more practical replacement until the piece I ordered came (which I ended up canceling because my some miracle my original jewelry was found!--one piece at my house and the other at my boyfriend's!). Anyways, I walked in and told them what happened, and they showed me their most inexpensive, but still quality, selection. I chose a pretty, simple pink gem bar. After a few minutes in the back my jewelry was changed and cleaned. And I was really surprised it never got infected or irritated after being messed with so much after I had only had it a couple months. Fast forwarding again. My original jewelry was found and once again while passing through Davis I came here to have a professional change my jewelry. Within ten minutes I was in the back and I had my original piece back in (which the piercer complimented and went on about how neat it is because it has a dermal top!). They didn't charge me, but I of course left a tip. So while I never officially got pierced here, I had a wonderful experience with their customer service. I interacted with four different people during my time here and all of them were more than kind! read more

I usually get my piercings done on Haight of San Francisco, but going to school in Davis, I decided to try Urban Body out. The place is really clean (really important to me when it comes to piercings and tattoos), and the staff is really welcoming and nice! They have a good selection of jewelry & a few tattoo look books. Nice things to look at in a the cozy sitting area during your short wait! I've gotten pierced here a couple times, and the last time I came, I had Katrina. She was SO caring and made me feel very comfortable. After getting my industrial piercing, she noticed I had a cartilage piercing that I've been trying to take out for YEARS, & I mean YEARSSSS! but haven't been able to because of the pain. She offered to help me get it off, and did it with minimal pain!! She was so sweet! Tipped her suuuper well and will be coming back for any piercing needs! Pretty pricey, but good work. I've gotten my tragus done here, as well as two cartilage piercings. The tragus healed well, and the girl that did my two cartilage piercings was really good at listening to what I wanted and making sure I got it. I did buy some jewelry here for a preexisting piercing, though, and this why I'm giving three stars--the piece was externally threaded (AKA worse quality than internally threaded--it can tear your piercing), and although I'm sure they keep things clean, I saw very little evidence of sterility. I asked for the piece, the desk girl went into the back room, carried out the piece in her bare hands, then but it in a baggy and sold it to me. Not exactly sterile, but I understand the convenience, and besides, I never got an infection. Good spot, but I now prefer Primary Concepts. read more

A few months ago I went to get my nose and daith pierced. My piercer was a woman with colorful hair, tattoos, and a lot of glitter (lol). She answered all the questions that I had, made sure I was comfortable, and got the piercings done quickly and safely. Did a piercing on both ear lobes. The lady pierced my ears manually, insisting that it is safer and cleaner than using a piercing gun. However, she lost track when piercing my left ear lobe and the repiercing hurt my ear lobe which ended up bleeding for a few days. I had my first piercings by a piercing gun before the holes closed and it was way faster and less painful than done by her hands, and I had never experienced any bleeding or pain or swelling. But now it's been four months since I was pierced at this shop and my ear lobes haven't recovered yet! Actually last week my left ear lobes got a fester and ran with pus. Both of my ears still get allergy and/or swells at times. I don't know when it can fully get recovered. read more

Urban Body has done a couple of my piercings along with my friends' piercings. I do have one complaint... one of my piercings was crooked. Since the owner noticed the crooked work, he redid my piercing plus gave me jewelry for free. He was very sweet and apologetic. The tattoo artists are amazing as well. Although, I do not have a tattoo.... several of my friends recommended this place because they do amazing work. The Latino Male tattoo artist has done beautiful work. Overall, I would probably recommend Urban Body, but I do have a couple complaints. I got my belly button pierced there last week. Everyone was nice, and the place seemed clean, but after getting my piercing, it didn't seem like the lady who pierced me was going to explain the aftercare (even though the receptionist told me that she would). So before leaving, I asked her how I should take care of it, and she gave me a very NOT detailed explanation, then handed me their aftercare card and said that it explains everything. However, when I got home and read it, it is extremely unclear about what to do to care for your piercing. Like I said, overall Urban Body was fine, but I think it's extremely important that piercing places are clear about how to clean your piercing, because that can totally affect how well it heals. read more

As a Davisite who was just getting into tattoo-and-piercing age when this shop opened up, I went here to get my first tattoo when I turned 18. In the nine years since, I have gotten every tattoo and every piercing (sans one) from this shop. Although I no longer live in Davis, and have lived all over the world since moving away, I always wait until I have returned home to get whatever ink I've been itching for, to switch out my piercings, or to get ideas for my next piece. I have been to tattoo shops and seen work done from San Francisco to Berlin to London to Sydney to Cairo (yes, they have tattoo parlors in Egypt) and can honestly say my ink is just as good as anything else I've seen. read more

Got my ears re-pierced here by Avi (Alvi? Sorry, I suck with names). He was nice and answered all my questions. The price was cheaper than I expected. I think it was like $10 each lobe piercing, $7 for cleaning stuff, and my earrings cost about $20 dollars each pair. I also got the $5 off thing since my purchase was over $15. My only complaint is that there was no one in the front helping customers, but it didn't bother me because Avi worked quick and came out to check on us and it's Christmas Eve. I went here about 4 years ago to get my nipples pierced on a whim. It was $90 for both, which is a bit pricey. The piercer Avi was a total douche AND I had to take them out like a month later They were totally crooked and were pierced too close to the skin so they looked like they were rejecting but weren't. A year later I went to woodland and got them done for free anf its been two years and I still have them. I went back to ub to get different balls for my piercings,.the balls alone were $20. All in all I had an awful experience with them and tbh I hope they go out of business. read more

Pricing is very similar to any other place I've been too. I got two helix piercings done with Regina, she was very nice and it's a piercing, you're going to feel it regardless of anything. She marked the spots, and she was very willing to change the placement because they were too close together. Since my piercings tend to reject, she recommenced the bar first (instead of the hoop) and has been responded to all the messages I send her with updated through Instagram (not everyone would do that!!) read more

I came here for 4 of my 5 piercings and had the same experience with all 4. I LOVE the staff here. Super nice, understanding and willing to work with what you want. Experienced. None of my piercings hurt at all! Explained the entire healing and cleaning process every time and told me I was welcome to come back for help with anything. BUT their jewelry quality is not good. All 4 times everything seemed fine, healing good then out of no where after about a month it becomes infected.. every time. Oozing, bleeding, gets that annoying little bubble (mind you I still clean it everyday because I know this happens every time) Well I finally found out when I switch the ring with one not from urban body it heals within 1 -2 days. It sucks because I like this place so much. Hopefully it is just my extremely sensitive ear and not actually their jewelry but either way I will have to find a new place for my piercings read more

I came here about 2 years ago and got my belly button and tragus pierced with about a week's time between. This was my first time using a needle rather than gun. My cartilage had been done with a gun and didn't turn out too well. =/ Anyways, the piercings I got here are probably my favorite because they healed so well and are continuing to be perfectly fine. I'd trust them for all my piercings, if I could think of more places, and would consider getting a tattoo here, considering the good reviews I've heard. Highly recommended! read more
