Another great Yelp find. To be honest, when I walked in and saw the place, I wasn't expecting much. Pretty sparse furnishing and small. I saw the pecan encrusted chicken, thought it sounded interesting, and gave it a go. Came piping hot and delicious. A bit of a sloppy eat with some of the pecan crust flaking off. The chicken was a bit bigger than the bun as well. I got the potato salad as the side and it was outstanding as well. Here's a tip for the two; take a piece of the pecan crust that falls off and combine it with a bite of potato salad - oh yeah! This is a small family run business serving homemade style food. I've been wanting to try this place for quite some time and finally stopped in today and had the grown-up grilled cheese and onion rings. Hubby had the club sandwich and fries. The grilled cheese what's anything but boring. Laden with creamy cheese, hatch chilies, avocado and bacon, on crunchy wheat berry bread was a delights for the senses. The onion rings were the real deal. The club sandwich also had copious amounts of avocado and was served on crunchy grilled wheat berry bread. The fries remained crispy even after they cooled off. Tried Urban Cafe for the first time and was really satisfied with the food. I had the "Urbivore" breakfast bowl -- it is a delight with perfect crisp potatoes and two eggs, hearty Chile sauce with flavor and not excessive heat. It is hearty but not heavy at all. You'd think "I've had this type of dish before," but this version is special and whomever made it puts love into her/his work. We just finished a family lunch at Urban Cafe and the food was delicious, the staff was friendly and helpful and the place was clean and comfortable. We had a great experience and will definitely be coming back! We were warned that the Green Chile Stew was spicy this week and it was New Mexico delicious! The Reuben was nice thick slices of meat with all the fixings on fresh bread. The Breakfast Bagel was made to order and tasty! We even were treated to Double Chocolate Cake that took care of our chocolate urges and then some! All in all a wonderful experience! read more

Came in on a rainy day right at the lunch rush. It took a few minutes to greet us, but after that things were fairly smooth. I ordered the Reuben and it's made with a home made corned beef. Original. Old school. What's good about the corned beef is the texture. It bites right and has the feel of a sliced brisket when you bite into the rye. Not sure if the sauerkraut is homemade, but it's legit sauerkraut, fresh cabbage, not too vinegary, not too smooshy (know what I mean?). Even the 1000 island dressing is awesome, not too sweet, but adds enough flavor. The rye had a good earthy flavor. Not sure if the fries are homemade, but they were great. My daughter ate half of them: crispy on the outside, steamy potato on the inside. Breakfast is served all day. My daughter had the cinnaswirl pancakes, no syrup. The waitress offered syrup, but they didn't need it. These tasted homemade, too. Soft, but not too sweet, moist cake and crispy, toasty edges drizzled with white icing. Highly recommend. My friend had chicken, biscuits and gravy. Again, everything was homemade. White gravy with butter covered a soft, steamy buttermilk biscuit. Underneath is fried chicken breast. Meat was tender and juicy and breaded with flour and a nice amount of pepper. It was topped with eggs over medium. I almost forgot, I had the chicken noodle soup. That's right; it was homemade. If you see my picture, you'll see it's a work of art. Noodles not soggy, but firm, beautiful carrots and nice chunks of chicken. Served with Fritos and a lime wedge! So perfect, especially on a rainy day. To top it all off every dish we had under 10 bucks. Service was great. Highly recommend, will definitely be back. For some, this may not be a big deal, but I always have water in restaurants. This ice water was delicious, clear and crisp with the really cool chunks of ice. Waitress had a hard time keeping our glasses filled (we drink a lot of water), but she managed. Kudos read more

My fiancé and I found out about this place through FB on a Las Cruces curbside group page. We have tried a couple of things from here, mostly specials, and they've all been really good! We really enjoy the food so far and hope to one day eat there once this all blows over. I highly recommend it. read more

Just updating my original review to say these folks still have the best Reuben in town! The corned beef is done in house and it's way better than the typical sandwich shop stuff. Their Green Chile Philly is yummy too and the lunch specials are not to be missed. read more

Came to eat lunch with my husband and it was good. Four stars cuz the service wasnt great but it was ok. Food was really food. I had a mixed green salas with raspberry vinaigrette and it was good; chicken was dry but i would get it again. My husband had a egg sandwich and it looked great. Bread was thick cut and grilled to perfection. We will come back and try breakfast. The chips and salsa were good. After looking for choices to have breakfast in Las Cruces, we decided on Urban because they had chicken, biscuits and gravy. My husband is a nut for biscuits and gravy and had never heard of it made with chicken so we made a beeline for this restaurant. He had his fill with green chile gravy and raved about it during and after, and most of the rest of the day. It was a huge hit and he cannot wait to try it again. I would personally recommend this place to people who like a twist to some foods for example if you would like that they have Mac n cheese with bacon grown up grill cheese (green Chile pulled pork etc) etc and you might want to come here if you are hungry or you want a snack they sell breakfast,desert and lunch/dinner very good staff overall. read more

One of my favorite places to eat in Las Cruces. The food is fresh, clean and delicious. My wife and I finally took the time to try this cafe. I'm just sorry we waited so long. As you walk in the door the first thing you notice is how clean and cozy this little cafe is. We were greeted like we were family by Michael, who is also the owner. My wife ordered the soup of the day and a pecan crusted chicken sandwich. I opted for the Philly Cheese Steak. The soup was homemade cream of mushroom which seemed like an odd voice in a cafe. My wife raced over it, and after allowing me a taste I have to agree that it is the absolute best cream of mushroom either of us have ever tasted. My Philly Cheesesteak was also delicious and served on a ciabatta roll. Nancy also thoroughly enjoyed her sandwich, however the soup as the star! It was after the rush so Michael devoted a lot of time to us. His food and customer service should put this little cafe on the top of anybodies list. read more

It's said if you make a good product, someone will make it better. Urban Cafe, is proving that true. Many of their menu items are unconventional, as compared to a traditional cafe, but that doesn't mean they haven't burned the midnight oil to make their menu as good as it can be. Time and time again I have returned and been more than pleased with the food served. The Ruben sets a new standard in it's class, with the in-house made corned beef, while the Potato Green Chili soup shows the potential of what the chefs are capable of. And please, remember that the Baked French Toast is not to be taken for granted. Should you choose to stop by, do consider that at the time of writing (early June 2017) Urban Cafe is still but a fledgling company working hard to do it right. read more

The food is always delicious. My favorite is the pecan crusted salad. Mixed greens with pecans and feta and delicious raspberry vinaigrette, topped with pecan crusted chicken. My mom loves their soups and my dad always loves their specials usually burgers and sandwiches. It's a big favorite in our family asking with or friends whom we've told. read more

This place is insanely delicious. We moved out of state last year and Urban Cafe was at the top of our list of places to visit and it did not disappoint. We missed this amazing restaurant so much. The owner is super friendly and knowledgeable about food. We highly recommend the chicken and biscuits, my husband gets it with green chile over the gravy, and I get it without green chile. The biscuit is delectably and flavorful. The gravy is the best restaurant gravy I've ever eaten. We like to get a cup of their soup every visit and are never disappointed in the soup. Super yummy no matter what variety they are offering. Literally the best breakfast food we've had in any city. We will make sure to visit every time we are in LC. Love love love Urban Cafe! read more
