The best vegan restaurant in Tucson by a wide margin. I steer clear of all of the other all vegan joints here because I don't think that the owners/cooks know what they're doing, but Chauncey truly knows his way around food. Fresh, high quality ingredients, a casual but also clean atmosphere, and incredible friendliness. The prices are great too! This is a cute, quaint, friendly place that gets pretty busy around lunch time. There is patio and inside seating but inside can get cramped when it's busy. If you like raw or vegan food, this is your spot. Everything is so flavorful. We ordered the green goddess wrap, cheesy veggie wrap, the lentil sloppy joe, and a blueberry scone. Everything was so amazing!! The wraps were huge and full of delicious natural flavor combinations. The sloppy joe was smoky and sharp but not overpowering or tomato-y. The slaw topped the joe perfectly!! Flavor explosion! The scone was dense but sweet and moist...delicious with coffee the next day!! Will be back for sure!! read more

We stumbled on this gem in downtown Tucson and man am I glad we did!! The owner was SUPER friendly guiding us through the menu helping us to make the best choice, taking into account food allergies and hunger level. Super friendly staff, checked on us to make sure everything was good. We both ate for just over $20 including gratuity. My vegetarian and vegan friends would be so proud of me! Heck, I'm impressed with myself as well. I am very much an omnivore, but also have restrictions with gluten and dairy, so eating isn't easy when away from home. Food is usually poor taste, low quality or makes me feel ill afterward. But Urban Fresh is/does none of these things! Very much the opposite. Jury duty led me downtown and I was excited about the possibilities based on the name alone. The special was a "pasta bolognese" - paleo friendly, raw, vegan and gluten free. The "pasta" was zucchini noodles, which I already love, and the sauce and meatball-type things were truly delicious. None of that weird tofu or wannabe-meat either, but something made with pumpkin and sunflower seeds. It was quite filling and I ate every bite. And I even felt awesomely healthy in the process too. Oh, and I had a smoothie on the way out. Something with coffee in it. Also delicious. Nice job, Urban Fresh folks. Impressive, even to a meat eater. Tried the Coconut Curry, Green Pepper Burger, and South of the Border Wrap. The green curry was the favorite of the day, so yummy! With a flight of assorted hot sauces, I woke up the burger to my palate. You have to ask for the sauces because they come with a warning. They can be very spicy!! The smoothies were delicious as well, I loved the vanilla. Kind of like a Horchata with minor banana flavor in smoothie form, delicious! The staff was very friendly and the place is clean. We started with the Navy Bean Veggie Soup and it was chunky, hearty and flavorful! My fiance had the American Veggie burger and it was a half a pound of solid goodness!! I'm so happy that Urban Fresh is Downtown. It's off the main drag of Congress so there are a lot less cars right outside which is nice. Their Raw-Vegan offering are excellent, and cooked vegan options are perfect for someone transitioning to a vegan or vegetarian lifestyle (and are looking for comfort-style foods). I'm pretty sure this is the ONLY juice bar in all of Tucson that offers organic produce for freshly squeezed juice! The parking can be a challenge on a weekday if you don't live downtown. But if you work downtown and need a quick breakfast or lunch option this is THE place! They have fresh raw foods and superfood smoothies which is an added bonus! read more

yum! i went here today for lunch with a friend, excited to try it because this city needs more vegan restaurants that don't rely solely on mock meat products (ahem, lovin' spoonfuls). the space is rather small and it felt crowded as they were quite busy, but it wasn't that much of a problem. my friend ordered the Liquid Lunch juice (kale, spinach, beet, carrot, apple, ginger, and lemon) and i went with the simpler Sweet Heart juice blend (beet, apple, carrot, and ginger). we got our juices before our food, and we both had a tough time not chugging them down immediately, they were so good! my friend had the Rainbow Wrap (sunflower seed paté [which they were out of, but she happily substituted hummus], avocado, bell peppers, pea shoots, beets, carrots, and jicama, all wrapped in collard greens! what a cool idea!) and i ordered the Healthy Heart Taco Salad (purple cabbage, green onions, corn, their mushroom and bean 'taco mix', tomato, carrot, jicama, romaine lettuce, and cilantro, with guacamole, some baked corn tortilla strips to garnish, and a tomato salsa vinaigrette). my only gripe with the salad was that the guacamole seemed slightly past its prime, not very bright green but turning uniformly slightly browned. nevertheless, both the wrap and the salad were very tasty! i certainly plan to return as often as possible, because i had a very hard time choosing between all of the menu items since everything looked delicious :) well done, Urban Fresh! read more

OK this is one of the best vegetarian restaurants I have eaten in and I have been a vegetarian for over 20 years and have tried veggie restaurants all over the country. This is so above every place else! Ambience is a great fun breakfast and lunch place. Not fancy, but everyone who works here and comes here is here for the food. Service is great, and since this was my first visit, very helpful. The owner even told us where we could buy the coffee, that is roasted and sold locally. My friend and I started trying out different veggie restaurants a few months ago, when she decided to change her way of eating. This is our third in Tucson, and we were both very happy to come here today. We had two different wraps, which were huge, so we could sample each. The Green Goddess and South of the Border wraps were great. We also had wonderful coffee and a blueberry scone. Everything was great, I made a real pig of myself( can you say pig when writing a review about a vegetarian restaurant?) The food was so good I could not stop eating and finished my whole lunch. My friend had better control and took half a wrap home for dinner. Ok the food was just too good to stop. I cannot wait to go back for another sample and may even try their breakfast menu. They also do take out in case you don't have time to sit and eat in. There are three tables outside and a number of tables and counter space inside. If you are vegan (and into healthy vegan and raw food), this is the ONLY place in Tucson that is walking their talk when it comes organic, healthy food and offering access to health foods and resources for the Tucson community! Chauncey and Dana are fantastic as new owners, and are doing a killer job with their daily specials and original menu offerings. And the smoothies are better than ever. Breakfast specials are off the hook delicious, as well as Chef Kosan's specialties at lunch. My other half eats here almost everyday, and I'm so grateful he has healthy foods and a nice atmosphere to enjoy a hearty lunch break. It's also great knowing that all their juice pulp and compost are going to a local community garden for kids, and I just got to bump in to Chauncey, shopping for veggies at my favorite organic farmer's market, too! Owning a business downtown Tucson (or downtown anywhere for that matter), can be a huge challenge with a huge diversity of people walking by....and I've gotta say, this place has some serious heart! I have only ever seen authentic kindness, generosity, and integrity shared. Great food is important to me when I eat out, but a place with heart like this gets my vote! read more

Hands down my favorite place to eat in Tuscon! I visit Tucson for just under a month every year during the gem and mineral show, and this place is my go to. I visit these wonderful people almost every day for a fresh juice and usually grab at least one meal to eat on the spot and a second meal, wrap or veggie burger to snack on during the day. It's that good! You can tell that the owners put a lot of love and passion into their food! They never failed to deliver delicious and super healthy food to fuel me through the long days at gem show! That's just what we've been looking for so we had a couple of wraps (the one wrapped in collard green is really small) . Overall, really good though. We'll definitely be back. Nothing like having a meal prepared from scratch on your birthday! I had strawberry pancakes. These had sweet Potato and oat flour and we're light and fluffy with a strawberry syrup on top with a hint of mint oil and fresh strawberries. My husband had bisquits and cashew gravy. So yummy! I came in hungry and tired after my flight with luggage in tow. The owner, a stoic burly guy, immediately took my luggage and stowed it out of the way. He then helped accommodate my tall order - 4 days' worth of lunch and dinner. His adorable wife (I think?) prepared the order, making helpful suggestions and substitutions. In the meantime, I enjoyed the daily special, a sweet and savory vegan lasagna with fresh watermelon lemonade. They kindly let me stay until closing while I worked on my laptop.
