How I wish this place were in my town. I would spend way too much money there. I loved every sip of the two smoothies I had here on our trip (i would have gone there every morning if they hadn't closed for the holiday): first, the green berry, which was tasty, and then the lovin greens. S. loved both of his, too: the funky monkey and maca java. We didn't eat any of the pastries, though the scones looked awesome, but we did try two snack bars, one of which was only oatmeal, raisin, cinnamon, and vanilla. No added sugar! I can't say enough good things about a place with such quality foods. Plus, the company donates bars to feed the hungry, so it was a good snack for a good cause. The owners couldn't be nicer, more helpful people. I believe the person who helped us was Chauncey: not only did he provide excellent service, he also gave us great tips for sightseeing around the area. This will be my go-to breakfast spot on my next trip there. read more

love this place. stopped in on my way to work for a nice, healthful breakfast. their soup of the day was potato and kale- SO good! had to go back after work for a smoothie, also delicious. i had the funky monkey with almond butter, bananas, dates, cocoa, maca and coconut milk. i usually eat meat with almost every meal, but this place was a very refreshing change of pace. tasty, too. will be back :) read more

Great selection, impeccably fresh. The specials are wonderful. The egg salad wrap was reminecent of my days past of eating egg salads made from eggs. Their green chilli burger is yummy. Fast, friendly service and tasty, healthy food. Seems rather pricey for what it is, particularly since there's really no guarantee that any of it is organic. (The menu says they use organic produce "when available," which is basically meaningless in the absence of more detail.) Still, a good option of you are downtown at lunchtime and want something quick that isn't fast food. read more

This place is amazing - went with some co-workers and we were all impressed. The owner is friendly and attentive - recommended the Vibe Alive - it was so fresh and delicious - I topped it off with the ginger snap smoothie - another delicious addition. I didn't see anything on the menu I didn't want to try so I will definitely be going back. The owner gave us a tip about parking - any garage with a purple sign allows you to park an hour for free - there is a garage right across the street - doesn't get any easier than that! read more

I work downtown and I've explored a lot of restaurants in the area. I went here originally just because it's close and the service is friendly, but recently started eating vegan. It just so happens this place is really special whether you are vegan or not. You can eat healthy food that also tastes terrific. The special today was shepherd's pie with a side of sautéed veggies. Filling, as good as the meat version, and healthy to boot. Smoothies are fabulous. Regular items like the wraps can be made with kale leaves instead of a tortilla. You can get terrific tea or a young coconut to drink, soups, salads, etc. Unlike some vegan places where the staff seems stoned or lethargic or disorganized, these people are friendly and energetic and efficient. Can't say enough good stuff about Urban Fresh and am grateful I happen to work down the street from what is (for me) the perfect lunch spot. read more

I work downtown and eat at Urban Fresh at least 4 times a month. The food is delicious. I cannot get enough of their veggie burgers and spaghetti. If I'm feeling a little nutrient lean, I grab a smoothie or juice. I always feel like superwoman after eating there. The owners are very nice, always there and they know their stuff when it comes to eating healthy without sacrificing flavor. I am by no means vegan but their food makes a good argument! read more

Great fresh quality vegan food. Very friendly staff and some of the best smoothies in town. Parking was a snap. The parking garage is across the street and was free at the time of our visit ( noon, Tuesday). I really do not understand the caloric value comment as previously mentioned. Perhaps McDonald's might be a better option for some people. You know, they have that Value Meal. Anyway this place is well worth a try. read more

Amaaazing!! As a non-vegetarian I was a bit skeptical of this place at first, I mean how good could it be right? WRONG. I am a total convert. The wraps and specials are BURSTING with flavor and are filling in a way that vegetarian/vegan food has never been for me. The green goddess and Mediterranean wraps are wonderfully flavorful and satisfying. The other items on the regular menu (which include several other wraps and salad options) are equally delicious and healthy, as are the daily specials which are always delightfully inventive; noodle bowls, spicy Stromboli, veggie burgers and more are generously portioned, and satisfy the taste buds while leaving you feeling healthily nourished rather than uncomfortably stuffed. They also have fresh juices and smoothies, pressed and blended to order, as well as tasty vegan brownies and cookies. My husband and I were visiting Tucson for the first time this weekend and this was our first stop. I have a very strict diet, but the owner was very accommodating and made sure I could enjoy my meal. I ordered the green goddess wrap in a collard green and it was fresh, filling. And delicious. My husband enjoyed his salad, too. We also thought the apple lemonade was perfect-not too sweet or too tart. And we decided to order a scone to go, which was incredible, especially since it was vegan and gluten free. Urban Fresh serves up unbelievably delicious food in a beautiful space downtown. My only complaint is that they are not open for dinner! Run, don't walk to Urban Fresh for lunch - you will not be disappointed. If you cannot make it on your lunch hour then call in "well" so you can experience the wonderfully flavorful and beautifully prepared cuisine served up with care and attention. The owners/chefs are full of creative energy and know how to tantalize your taste buds. The food is filling and nurturing, but not heavy. Food should fuel you, not make you tired, and Urban Fresh does just that with an incredible array of lunch options that offer a cornucopia of balanced ingredients to delight your taste buds. I've dined there at least a dozen times now and I've never been disappointed. In my experience, the food at Urban Fresh is better than I've had at many of the "top" restaurants in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle and Philadelphia. read more

I've been supporting Urban Fresh since it first opened and have continued to do so since it changed owners. The prices are fair for what you get, and you can't get a better salad downtown (unless of course you want a salad covered in meat and cheese, in which case you probably aren't eating here in the first place). I tend to order the two raw wraps, and either the taco, ancient grains, or veggie cobb salad. Sometimes I'm mildly disappointed, like yesterday when my taco salad came with only 3 tiny tortilla chips, but overall it's still pretty good. The new owners are super nice and often offer samples of the day's soup, beverage, or smoothie. They always have yummy looking lunch specials, but a lot of them are not gluten free so I can't partake :( The gf scones are awesome for breakfast or an afternoon treat with tea, and although I haven't made it in for the breakfast specials yet, the pictures posted on facebook always look awesome! read more

Sorry guys, I really feel bad when I have to give a bad review, but I'm disappointed. This place has good intentions, but we had an epic smoothie fail here. We ordered an Aztec Warrior smoothie, maca, cacao, etc. and requested the addition of a green powder, which is a fairly reasonable request. I've added green powders or spirulina to a smoothie with success many times. Though they were happy to accommodate the request, this seemed to throw them off. The $7 smoothie we ordered was warm, thick to the point of being undrinkable and SOUR-- probably the almond milk had gone bad? I even tried salvaging the smoothie by adding the $3 coconut water that we purchased but in the end it was a waste of $10 and inedible. I've made a lot of smoothies in my life and really it's not that hard guys. If you blend it too long it gets warm. If you don't put enough liquid in it, it will be too thick. If you don't taste it before you serve it to the customer and you don't really quite know what you're doing, things could go terribly wrong. These guys are still figuring it out.
