Booked a French Manicure through ClassPass the day before. Told the front desk woman that I had an appointment and she knew it was for a French mani. Told my manicurist that I paid through ClassPass and can pay the tip via Zelle (that's the stores preference). The manicurist proceeded to give me a GEL French manicure and once it was done I said I have to pay in full. This was AFTER I left a review on ClassPass for them. They told me they stopped using the service 2 years ago - spoke to ClassPass and this was not true. They waited til the other customers left and the three women left told me I had to pay $50 dollars regardless. Spoke to ClassPass and confirmed it was a scam. Did not get refunded by the salon and almost didn't give me a receipt as I paid in cash. The $50 was more than what their own website charges for the service. Thank you Susan for allowing my friend and I to return for a different style. The manicures came out beautifully as shown in the photos. Although there is a policy to accommodate nail discrepancies , it was definitely an uncomfortable experience to return. The nail tech who did my nails was there and reminded me I said I liked them. If someone is giving me what I'd hope was their best, I would be offended too. Please do understand I was made fun of by my boyfriend after getting my nails done. That's not a nice feeling. I felt bad to come back after appreciating her efforts but I had no other choice. I've built conspiracies that maybe once the gel cured under the UV, it may of widened the lines. Love this place! It's located in a great neighborhood, the staff are friendly, and is most reasonably priced salon in the neighborhood. $25 for a pedicure in this neighborhood is a steal. The place is also very clean and the staff are all great at what they do. This was my second time at this nail salon, and happy to say it was even better than the first time I came by. Susan, the lady who did my pedicure was incredible. She took her time and really did a great job on my feet and nails. It's also a plus that all the pedicure chairs are massage chairs, so if you like massages, you will definitely enjoy that component. They also give you a neck massage at the end of every service, which is really nice and rare to find everywhere. Also, I recommend paying in cash so that you can pay the exact amount and won't be charged credit card fees. I came here twice they did a nice clean job each time , that's why I returned for a hard gel fill the technician I don't remember her name kept cutting me with the drill I didn't say anything but those cuts hurt they feel like paper cuts. Anyways the nails turned out ok not my favorite but fine enough. From one perfectionist to another... Susan is official. I have been on a search for a new nail tech, and so happy to say that I have found her! Not only did Susan do an amazing job taking off acrylic tips from a different salon, she made sure to do it with care (along with another nail tech whose name I didn't catch, who was also very sweet). I not only enjoyed how kind Susan was, but I really appreciated her answering all of my questions. She explained every step of my nails getting done; the soak off, what kind of manis they do, which would be best for my nails, and even gave me some pointers on nail health as it relates to the service I chose (hard gel w/design). I really enjoyed this visit! I'm very picky when it comes to nail techs esp since I really pay attention to nail health and she checked off ALL my boxes. The salon itself is extremely cute! It was 95 degrees today, but they had the A/C on blast, calming music playing, and just an overall clean and nice vibe. I've been going to same nail salon in Brooklyn for the last ten years and never had an issue with them. Due to the fact that I wanted my nails freshly done before my birthday, I went here for the first time. Not only did I pay double what I usually pay, they did a horrible job. Three of my nails started peeling off about 30 minutes after I left the salon and almost all of my nails had clear nail polish on the skin. All my nails are a different shape from each other and there's a lot of empty space that isn't fully filled in with nail polish. When I came back to fix my nails, I was greeted with attitude and was blamed for chipping my own nails. WHY would I leave the salon and chip my own nails 30 minutes after they did them to just have to go all the way back to them? Also, when I came to them I had my old gel on which was in perfect condition other than being outgrown. When they re-did my nails, one came out bumpy anyway. One nail also looked like it had a thicker layer of nail polish on half of it and when I pointed it out they said that's just how my nail is. My nail has never looked like that after a manicure in my life and now suddenly they're telling me it's thicker on one half? Anyway, I would not recommend this nail salon to anyone for just their attitude alone. Forgot to mention that the lady who did my nails originally hurt me multiple times during the process. read more

Exactly the tranquil nail salon experience I needed. I had an appointment for a gel manicure and a pedicure; bookings were for 30 minutes each. I was greeted right away and got to sit down for the pedicure immediately, with only a couple other people in the salon, so it felt decently spaced out. The nail tech who did my nails was wonderful. The entire experience was rushed, and the service could've been better. I had an appointment for a mani/pedi, and the entire process was rushed. As more clients came in, I felt that she started to hastily go over everything. I first had my pedicure, and it was around 10-15 min long. She barely did any of the traditional pedicure steps...it was basically her trimming my nails, soaking my feet, hastily scrubbing my foot, and then applying color. The last time I had a pedicure, it was around 30 min. She then told me to go over to do my manicure, and once again, that process was extremely rushed. As she was doing my manicure, she accidentally stepped on my toes, which ruined the pedicure, and she was very annoyed as if it was my fault. She had to redo the toenails by making me prop my foot up in a very painful position as she repainted them. The manicure also didn't last. It started chipping on the 3rd day, and the only step that she did that I didn't do was apply some cream on my hand - otherwise, I could've given myself the same quality manicure. The manicure was less than 10 minutes long, and by that time, there were a bunch of customers waiting. Since this was an appointment-only place, it just meant that they were overbooked... The service was also not great. They were complaining about people not tipping enough, which I get, it's rough out here, but also they were expecting a 20%+ tip...I tipped 18% and immediately felt that they weren't happy. In the beginning, they were gossiping about my friend and me in Chinese...but I am fluent in Chinese and understood every word that they said. It was supposed to be a very enjoyable experience, but instead, I felt that I was being rushed, on top of hearing gossip... I take my nail care VERY seriously, which explains why it took until five months after my move further uptown that I actually decided to try a place in my not-so-new-anymore hood. Separation anxiety? Understatement. But change is good, right? Right. I sent my friend here for a test-run prior to coming myself (I told you, manicure OCD to the max), and she said it would be granted my approval once I tried. I arrived around 6pm on a Thursday night and they weren't busy just yet, by 6:30 they had a rush of people come in. I was impressed with their selection of Essie and OPI polishes, and they have a few different brands of gel. Their prices are also some of the best in Midtown East. $10 for a manicure and no added on tax like other places have. Yes! The nail technicians were very nice and accommodating. I was also impressed at how thorough mine was with my cuticles. She kept making sure she cleaned them up well and if she noticed something later on, she'd correct it immediately. Now THAT is good service! The only thing that stopped me from giving Urban a full five stars has nothing to do with the manicure but rather, the ambiance. It's totally fine, clean, and well maintained, but maybe I was just missing the spa-like vibe I got at my old place. Sigh, can't win 'em all, I guess. As I work locally I needed to show some love to my hands and feet, I'm typically on my feet most of the day and also a runner so this place worked out perfectly. I placed my appointment for 4 pm got in a bit early and they had enough space to fit me in and give me a mani and pedicure. I notice they practice the covid standards and are very clean. The nail technicians all had a mask on and have hand sanitizer by the stations. After my massage I got about a 10 min shoulder massage which was amazing. Will definitely be coming back and they also have a members card for each of the visit to get a free service after you a few visits. This place gets a 5 star in my books. After procrastinating on doing my nails for 2 weeks I finally broke down to have them done. I HATE not having my nails done. I called first to ask the price and to see when they wouldn't be so busy. I took the short walk and popped in at 11:30 for a regular manicure. There were 2 people in chairs already and one getting a pedicure. After me, 4 more people walked in so I'm glad I came when I did. I was in and out in 30 mins and I think she did a great job with my nails. This place is HORRIBLE! I went in for the first time to get a mani/pedi. I have regular feet and hands but diverged from my normal salon because this place was close to work. That's about the only positive thing I have to say. The mani pedi was rushed and my pedicurist did not even scrub all of the dead skin from my feet. Mind you, I have normal feet without excess callus removal needed. Most of the time a file or Pumice stone does the trick. Even after complaining about my rough heels, the pedicurist neglected to fix the problem or offer up any viable solutions to make me happy. As I sat down for my manicure and the same manicurist cut the cuticles from my nails, she inadvertently left hangnails and dead skin all over my hands. She asked me to check three times and each time I pointed out more dry skin (please refer to photo) that she missed. Finally she got tired of asking me and decided to rush through the rest of the manicure. Additionally, the two coats of polish were uneven and the paint job had bubbles all over it. While paying for the services, the manicurist forced me to sign before my manicure ended...I guess she was afraid that I wouldn't pay or tip properly. Terrible place, not coming back!!!! read more

I've gone with and without an appointment - when I have had an appointment I haven't waited longer than a few minutes. Without one, they do seem to still get me in quickly, even if they are very busy. I came with a few design ideas and they were honest about which they could do well which I appreciated because some salons will just do whatever you want regardless of if it'll come out nicely. They remember exactly how I like my nails treated (pushed back, no cuticle cutters unless I deeply need it). Their paint job is beautiful every time, fully covered from side to side.
