This place was suggested by a friend, and he raved about how great it was and told me before we got there that it's not a lot of food. Well, he was right! Very flavorful dish, I wish there was more of it. I think the dinner was $20 before tax and tip and I wanted about 2 more ounces of protein. I left hunger which I don't think should be the case at a $20 price point. Maybe next time I will ask how much it is for extra meat.... Staff was friendly. Urban Plates never misses! I've been frequenting their Brea location for years but this was my first time trying the Long Beach location. It did not disappoint. I got my usual order, the chimichurri steak plate. It comes with a side of rustic bread and 2 sides. I chose mashed potatoes with gravy, and Mac and cheese. Everything was delicious and tastes just like it does at the Brea location. The Mac n cheese is made with real cheese, not the processed stuff you usually find at restaurants. The chimichurri sauce over the steak is the perfect combo. Best part is that they don't over cook your meat. If you like a nice medium rare steak this is the place for you. I also got their version of a cola which tastes just like a coke but has natural sugar. The service was great! I went in the evening so there wasn't much of a rush. There were plenty of staff available and they were prompt to clear any tables and plates left behind. Our order came out within 10 minutes. The interior of this restaurant is definitely a bit more modern than their others but just as spacious. It's perfect for family dinners or work lunches. I'll definitely be back! read more

I love this Urban plates location! I live a mile away from this place so I'm here pretty regularly. I feel like their steak is consistently cooked to perfection and their sides aren't salty. My go to meal is the Chimichurri Steak Plate with a side of creamed spinach and beets. My daughter gets the kids meal here with the steak as well. The food tastes more fresh and well prepared here than at the Tustin Urban Plates location. Pro Tip: If you are going to be eating here more than once a month, I would highly suggest you download their app and join Plate Pass. It's $10 a month and all entrees are $11. Placed an online order on December 13th for pickup 1. Cheeseburger and fries 2. 3 chicken tender plate with salad I went to the restaurant at the anticipated completion time of the order, announced myself to the front desk and inquired about my order being ready. The front staff went over to look and did not come back. Proceeded to go to the pickup order area (which I noticed after the fact) but did not see my bag/order. Afterwards proceeded to sit at the waiting area and listen to my name which was being announced for all the other orders. 15-20minutes elapsed without hearing my name called (but bags still being placed on the pickup area) so proceeded to ask again about my order. It happened to be there for unclear duration. At this time the front staff realized that they did not go over to check on my order when I had asked about it upon entering. Result was: Food: lukewarm Service: not the best Value for money: suboptimal To add insult to injury, I had received a call from what I presumed was the manager that day, was very apologetic, and mentioned that I would be receiving a gift card in the mail shortly and proceeded to ask about my mailing address which I provided. I was visiting my friend in Long beach. He works near PCH and 2nd. I just want to say the shopping area is so nice. After walking around and looking at the shops, we both were hungry. There are a lot of fun restaurants, but we settled at Urban Plates because of the large variety. Both of us are never good at making decisions when it comes to picking a place to eat. Looking at the menu, I was split between the Braised Beef and Mushroom and the nashville Hot Chicken Tenders. I got the cashiers opinion, and he swayed me towards the tenders, as he felt it was more filling. Definitely was not disappointed, the tenders were spicy! They were also a thick cut of chicken breast, which I honestly didn't expect. I was satisfied with the chicken tenders. The portions are a little large, so I took some home and had it next day for lunch. My friend and I both agreed the macroni and cheese was a little dry. We did order towards closing time, so maybe it was sitting out a little too long. My friend got the Grilled Grass Fed Steak. From appearance, it was a little rarer than I imagined. I didn't try it and my friend did not bring it up again, after pointing it out to me. From my understanding, most of the food is pre-cooked, so it's how Urban Plates prepares it - I guess if you felt it needed adjustment, you would have to ask them to make it from scratch. 2nd and PCH has a parking structure, but if you go behind, there's free parking. It could be a challenge to find it, but you might luck out if you're going at less busy times. read more
