So, This place was DE-LISH-OUUUUSSSS! Our work group was stuck on a super important working lunch. We found Urban Plates when looking for a place that offered gluten free options for one of our coworkers. Our group ordered the following and here are our thoughts. The seared Ahi plate with Brussell sprouts with balsamic glaze and mashed potatoes with gravy. The Tuna was fresh and flavorful, the only critique was it could have been sliced smaller so that the chunks didnt steam the inside and cook it. The gravy maybe needed a little something, but overall they loved their meal. The Brussels were super yummy! The turkey avocado sandwich with gluten free bread. Parmesan Truffle fries and gluten free chocolate chip cookie.....This coworker danced while eating this! Lol....she absolutely loved all of it. The bread was toasty and crunchy.....the club sandwich and avocado inside ingredients were super fresh and properly seasoned. The truffle fries were well seasoned and really delicious. She used the aioli and was so excited this place for being so considerate for those that cant eat gluten and be able to have such a delicious meal. The chimichurri steak with mashed potatoes and gravy and the mushrooms in garlic parmesan butter.- This was delicious.....id say foe a critique, the steak portion was a but small and the meat a bit hard to cut... either a better cut or harder sear or cook, but if that were fixed it would be phenomenal. The chimmichurri sauce and mashed potatoes and mushrooms were soooooo good. The gravy needed either salt or something to really compare to the potatoes themselves, they were so good, the gravy didnt do anything for them. A little something extra, not sure what, may fix that. The burger and fries.....so this order was a double bacon burger, no cheese cheese.......Regular French fries. The burger was well cooked and juicy and flavorful the fries cooked and seasoned well. Another coworker got the chocolate vanilla cake and they were in a cake heaven! The dragon fruit drink was also ordered and nothing but praises. We will definitely be coming back either in person or via order. Very impressed! read more

This is my family's go-to when we want hearty, healthy, and quick. I usually get the chimichurri steak with veggies and mashed potatoes. My kids love the options for the kid's meals because they love steak, salmon and salads. It's not just your typical greasy 'kid food'. We've only ever ordered take-out, so I can't speak to the service but the food is always prepared incredibly fast for delivery! read more

Unfortunately, this was one of the worst experiences I have had in quite some time. I wonder if this company has new management or new ownership? I have been here several times and it's usually delicious with lots of options. Today, was like a portal into another dimension. Lots of items weren't gluten free, despite being able to order them on a gluten free bread..... which is quite disorienting. Sides are not easily interchangeable. I spent an absurd amount of money on a half a sandwich that I picked apart and it looked disgusting. The bread was raw and spongey despite being charred, the "grilled chicken" was prepackaged chicken that was tough and I only took a few bites, the weird tomato and aoli situation was oily and off putting. I have had FAR better airport food. The fries were the only tasty thing but I was warned they may be cross contaminated with other glutenous things they cook. I honestly left with a stomachache. My friend's burger on gluten free bread was equally as sad. We were picking things apart and it was a mess. The cashier and server were kind. But, the food was a complete disaster. I wonder what happened. My friend and I agreed we are in zero rush to come back. :( read more

I enjoy coming here ! The staff is SO NICE , because I at times have came like minutes before closing but they still remain with good attitude and my food always taste good ! And they are just always so accommodating ! They have healthy options , organic sauces , sugar , and everything ! Love love their Mac and cheese ! Urban Plates has been one of mine and my partners go-to convenient, consistent dinner options and I was thrilled when this location opened a few years ago right when we moved to Long Beach. We love a healthy, hearty meal with my favorite being the four up (four sides) with mac n cheese, carrots and golden beets, mashed potatoes, broccolini. There's something for everyone here with lots of protein and side options. I also LOVE the mango tart and have come in just to grab one. Service here is friendly, quick, knowledgeable. All questions are answered nicely about their large menu with recommendations (thank you Cat and Jess), our food runner bringing everything we need and checking on us even though it's order at the counter. Parking at 2nd and PCH is free for 90 minutes. Lots of seating indoors and outdoors, vibey decor, and free wifi (perfect place to work at lunch and dinner). I have successfully ordered and picked up Urban Plates on many occasions but unfortunately, this was not one of them, and I'd be remiss, if I did not provide feedback on this experience. I placed a pick up order through DoorDash at roughly 9:12pm and the order was confirmed. They apparently close at 9:15, though the pick up time I was given was 9:26pm. I stood outside the locked door waiting for my pick up order at 9:22pm. MULTIPLE staff walked by the door, one girl looking at me while talking on her phone, and another guy looking multiple times and walking away as I try to grab their attention. It was VERY rude. If they simply opened the door, and let me explain why I was there this could have gone over easier, instead they literally just ignored me, the way people ignore homeless folks at a gas station. The girl on her cellphone cracked the door open to ask what I needed and let me in after I started literally knocking on the glass door since THAT'S SAFE(note she acted extremely inconvenienced). I told them it was very rude to literally look at me, and just ignore my presence outside the door. Who I presume was the manager, stated," Well we closed already," Well if you know a customer is picking up their food, don't just stare and IGNORE a person at your door, ask if they're picking up their order! This isn't a mom and pop shop, it's a chain establishment serving food that's barely 2 steps above hospital food. The audacity to not even apologize! I didn't need free this or that, just an acknowledgement that it's pretty discourteous to look at someone in the face at your door and ignore them. A " sorry that happened" would have been enough but I didn't even get that. It's not hard to walk to a door and say, "Hi how can we help you. " Especially if you KNOW you have an order on the way. Poor training, poor service, and somehow even worse managerial response. I usually order them every week, no more. read more

I first came to Urban Plates I believe in 2021? At a time when everyone was getting out and mingling again. I brought my two staff members for a lunch. It was just ok. I remember the front counter person taking orders wasn't really sure what was going on and had difficulty inputting the order. I remembered the food being ... edible. We are now at the tail end of 2025 and I wanted to give them a try again! The Yelp reviews are good! Who would have thought there would be yet again - a new person working the counter? I don't blame her for her slight confusion - that would be a training issue. My salad came out a bit wrong - it was fine - I wasn't that picky about it. I ordered the salmon - the menu stated there were a number of sauces to choose from. When I chose one she told me it came with another one - but did I want to substitute it? Just a bit of confusion here. What I was really disappointed by was the lukewarm/cold salmon that I had ordered well done? How? That was proof that this place isn't for me! I really wanted this relationship to work out! So sad. read more

I've been to this location a few times before, but it's definitely been awhile since. The atmosphere is just as cozy/rustic as I remember and the staff are always so welcoming. It's nice to see some new additions to the menu, but also the classics as well. I ordered the garlic shrimp with Parmesan butter, but couldn't decide which rice side to order. Paola was so sweet and patient and recommended the ginger turmeric basmati rice. My food came out fairly quick and I enjoyed the combination she suggested. The garlic Parmesan butter shrimp with squeezed lemon was just right! The rustic bread on the side was crispy on the outside and soft in the inside, while the carrots and beets added a sweet element to the whole dish. read more

This was my first time going to this location, not my first experience with the restaurant chain. I entered into WholeFoods parking lot, then went up and down and over the sea side of the harbor looking for this restaurant, to no avail. Finally, I asked a security guard for directions and he gave them to me. It was so hard to find this restaurant due to that there are no signings and the restaurant is on P.C.H. street side, not inside the open mall. When I finally enter the establishment, there was an older man in front of me arguing with the cashier about his membership. At the same time, I saw another person approaching the cashier and taking over the man's concerns, while the same cashier who this guy was arguing with and now talking to the manager, this cashier asked me to move over another register so she can take my order. I paid for my order and it came to me. While eating it, a female approached me and started apologizing to me for what I saw and heard prior and during my order. I told her that it was okay but I never expected for anyone to approach me to apologize for a customers behavior. The female turned out to be the manager, Mariana. I told Mariana, that I was so impressed in the way she and the cashier, Maribel, handled this situation, because the customer was raising his voice at both of them. I also brought up while looking at my receipt that the restaurant address doesn't have a suite #. The same thing on other Apps and when I searched by name Google pin points the exact location. When I searched by address, Google identifies the entire block. So there's an opportunity for improvement by adding the suite number on the receipts and google and generate more clientele. NOTE: The following is for both Manager Mariana and cashier Maribel: Both specially Mariana, engaged me with looking at my eyes, with a smile, with humility and kindness to take care of me. This nowadays, it's hard to find. both of them are such an asset for this corporation that if I was the owner of these chains, I would bring them up to corporate levels. Specially, Mariana.
