    Chicken Kabob Plate
    Zeeshan Q.

Zankou chicken offers some delicious food at a great price point. They have ample parking and are located right off Hawthorne blvd. I ordered the chicken kabob plate, which comes with marinated and roasted chicken kabobs over a bed of rice with salad and hummus. I chose their tabbouleh salad, and it was fresh and minty, a great choice. Their kabobs were juicy and tender, and their hummus was some of the best I've had in the South Bay. Don't sleep on their mint cucumber lemonade either; a bit sour at first but it is very refreshing. Highly recommend trying this place out.

I had come here for their soft opening and the service and food was terrific. I had a free bowl for my birthday which was Choose your base: basmati rice, romaine lettuce or 50/50. Pick a protein and two toppings. Garnished with kalamata olives, feta cheese, and cilantro. Choose your two favorite sauces! I had chicken, half rice half salad with tzatziki and tabbouleh. Food and service still terrific.

I have never tried Zankou chicken prior to this location opening up. Out of all of the Mediterranean restaurants in the area this has to be favorite out of them all and is constantly on our lunch rotation for the office. The sides are delicious and I especially love the pickled radish and cucumber salad. The garlic sauce is a must.

Good place for a quick Mediterranean bite. The staff was super nice and suggestive. I got the tri-tip shawerma. It was fairly tender and good mixture of sauce and the sides were great with the pickled turnips and hummus and pita chips. Overall decent fast casual meal spot that has been a long time coming for the southbay

I heard a lot about Zankou Chicken and decided to check this place out. I went with the half chicken, with cucumber salad and humus. It came with 2 pitas and garlic sauce. Got the order for take out. Service was friendly. There's several tables to dine in. The chicken was good, but lacked flavor / seasoning. And the breast was a bit dry. The cucumber salad and humus were good. But the sides were on the smaller portion compared to my favorite go to Mediterranean place. The garlic sauce was very thick. The price is a few dollars less than my go to Med place. There's plenty of off street parking.

New location with good ole classic Zankou meals! This is one of the restaurants where I'll surely finish my plate. The seating area is nice but could use some cleaning in between patrons are there was some wet puddles and unkept tables. However the service was great and the food was delicious. The chicken tarna could be a little more moist, next time I'll get the rotisserie or kabob to try them. Everything else was great!

I used to live in DTLA and frequented the Zankou there so I was super excited for this one to open here in the South Bay! Finally got a chance to visit and got the tarna & shawarma combo plate with tabbouleh, salad and tzatziki. Also ordered thru the app and got a free side of pita chips :) Food was so good and meat was super tender and flavorful as I remembered it! The tabbouleh was also really good and refreshing! The service was also impeccable- we initially got our food to go but decided to eat at the restaurant instead. When one of the servers noticed this, she asked if I wanted my pita heated up which was so nice of her Lastly, we got a chance to sample their chicken lentil soup which I'm definitely ordering next time! It was hearty, savory and delicious! Highly recommend and so happy they came to the South Bay!

My husband and I had been waiting for this spot to finally open, so we were excited to check it out. We came in around 3:30 and it was pretty busy. The service was friendly, and the person taking our order was helpful, asking if we had any questions or wanted any substitutions. Our order was taken quickly, though it took about 20 minutes for the food to come out. Considering how busy it was, the wait wasn't too bad. The restaurant was also very clean inside, which is always a plus and makes sense since they're newly opened. It had a nice, fresh feel overall. The menu is pretty extensive, with options like bowls, salads, and wraps. My husband and I both decided on the Lule Kabob plate. The plate comes with three sides. We chose rice, cucumber salad, and hummus, and it also comes with pita bread and a sauce of your choice. We went with the garlic sauce, which was really tasty. The veggies were fresh, and the basmati rice was soft and fluffy. My absolute favorite was the hummus. It was rich and creamy, and the olive oil on top made it even better. I would honestly go back just for a side of that. My only complaint, but an important factor, was the meat on the kabob. It was pretty dry. From my experience, lule kabob is usually soft and tender, but this one seemed a bit overcooked, and the dryness was noticeable right away. Overall it was good, but not my favorite. If I were to go back, I'd probably try the chicken instead.

Lemon tahini. As I type that, my mouth is watering. It's a sauce I would drizzle on almost everything, maybe even ice cream (don't judge). Tabbouleh, famous garlic sauce, spicy harissa, mutabbal, basmati, hummus, spiced onions, roasted tomato, chicken and shish skewers...are all the regularly ordered items from Zankou. That says a lot. And it also means I'll be ordering them again and again. And again. Fresh, savory, delicious and in the neighborhood! What a delight to be greeted upon entering. The offer to help was spoken in unison by a few workers. Four helping me all at once. Now that is service attentiveness and I'm addicted. An airy and clean dining room and service so friendly you almost can't get enough. I took our order to go because for our Super Bowl nosh. Can I say how much I enjoyed taking a year off from preparing a snack spread? It was glorious. And that I filled the time with easy online ordering and enjoying the food knowing I had no kitchen clean up was a huge bonus. So glad you're in the neighborhood!

Glad to have a Zankou Chicken nearby! My first time at Zankou was as a kid in the Glendale location, so the name of this store brings back memories. To be honest, I don't remember much except the garlic butter! This location is brand new and the customer service has been exceptional. I look forward to coming back! Keep up the good work.

Been a huge fan of Zankou since I was a kid and my dad brought it home for the first time probably close to 2 decades ago. Boy was I hyped when I found out that one would be opening up close by!! And not to my surprise this place is exactly the same taste wise as the other location. Consistency is a major plus for me and this place doesn't disappoint.

Zankou Chicken, Mediterranean food with purpose... I was quietly waiting and watching for Zankou Chicken to finally open!! I was glad when I saw the small parking lot full with hungry customers on rotation going in and out. First timer at Zankou and I can tell you this- the herbs, spices, garlic, onions and proteins have to be the freshest on the planet . Today's order- Chicken and Beef Tarna Plate with basmati rice , cucumber salad and cabbage salad. Chicken and Beef seasoned, tender, thinly sliced over a bed of basmati rice. The cucumbers, onions and tomatoes were so fresh in the salad and a righteous amount of flavor... I loved the thinly sliced cabbage mixed with lemon and seasonings. The garlic sauce needs to be bottled up and sold in stores. I loved it, I am so glad I had extra. When food tastes this good- HEALTHY is the only option!!! Thanks Jared for being the best part of Zankou Chicken - he helped me with my order and didn't rush me to make a selection!!! I am so glad Zankou Chicken is so close by!!! Thank Zankou Chicken- Mediterranean Food With Purpose!!!

Yay - Zankou is in the South Bay near where I work! It's a good location of this chain, new and shiny with happy and helpful employees. It's now $10 for my favorite Chicken Tarna sandwich here, so not exactly cheap, but the flavor is as good as always. The pickled peppers popped with flavor as always, but the pickled radishes were a bit lacking in flavor compared to what I remember. And, I am always happy to see the Spi-c mints and Tapatio packets that I consider simply part of the experience here. Solid 4 stars, held back a bit by the radishes and the prices which are up like everywhere else. Parking is not as bad as I feared on a Wednesday lunch hour.

I dropped by on a Saturday afternoon, where a few other patrons were already dining. The seating has around 6 or so tables inside that can fit around 4 each, and they also have high chairs for children! I ordered a number 17, which is the gyro, and got a side of hummus and pita then found a table to sit at. I had just finished buckling my child into the high chair when my order was delivered to my table! They are super fast here! The super friendly waiter delivered my meal, and I dug in. The gyro was stuffed with meat! This is a huge deal, since a lot of places skimp and don't give enough. So extra points to Al Hamra for a job well done. The flavor of the meat was juicy and well seasoned, super delish! The hummus and pita was good, although I usually add a bit of spices to my hummus so this one was a little plainer than I'm used to. Either way, it was a nice addition to the meal. The grand finale were the desserts! I usually go for baklava, but decided to try the knafeh, a layered cheese dessert with syrup and pistachios. Get the knafeh! The warm cheese and syrup were so delicious and made for the perfect ending to a good meal! Honestly, the highlight for me was the warm pita served with garlic mayo, so much better than the cold or room-temperature pitas you often get at otherMediterranean spots. We also shared dessert, the kulfi cheesecake, and left completely stuffed. Al Hamra is a cozy family-run restaurant with just a few tables, but the food makes it well worth it. I'll definitely rotate between this spot and Chicken Maison for future visits.

We arrived around 7:16 PM, and right away the cashier was rude and told us our order had to be to-go because after 7:20 PM they don't allow dine-in. I mentioned it was only 7:18, and she responded with attitude, saying, "Oh, it just turned 7:20." This place wreaks of "I want to pretend to be a chef/cook, to make money but have no idea on earth what it takes to do it". I HIGHLY recommend, the cook go to culinary school before opening a place to sell food. There was no one in the restaurant when we arrived. We ordered chicken wings (came out under cooked) they were littered with cilantro..why? Who does that? And the plate was splashed with buffalo mostly missing the wings. As if a baker would do with a dessert plate and some Carmel or chocolate drizzle. Weird. The mozzarella sticks were from Costco. And he laid them on one single piece of iceberg lettuce leaf. No marinara. Just cheese sticks and an old leaf. I recommend a few classes in plating your dishes. I also ordered water and an iced tea. He charged us $5. He then proceeded to walk outside to the liquor store nearby and purchased an off brand bottle of water and a lemon iced tea and gave it to us. Lol talk about unprofessional. Imagine ordering a burger from a new place and they take your money and walk across the street and bring you a Big Mac. Wild It took 37 mins to get our appetizers (wings and mozzarella sticks) At the one hour mark I had enough. I asked him to refund me my money as it was taking way too long for our food. And I noticed he was JUST starting the pizza we ordered sprinkling mixed cheddar cheese from Costco on it...WITH NO GLOVES. I've eaten pizza all over the world and have NEVER seen a pizza made with pre shredded Costco cheddar cheese. He then said "I already made your chicken kabob plate" and pointed to a plate that had about four inches of lettuce and a chicken kabob lying on top..sitting there getting cold. I asked how long before you bring me both, he said "about 10 mins". lol The best thing that happened about my experience is that I got a refund. But you can't refund my time. Honestly, I wasn't going to share my experience but when I seen that I wasn't the first that had this level of unprofessionalism, I changed my mind. I applaud anyone stepping up and trying to be successful in whatever endeavor they choose but when you are so ill equipped that it clearly is a hindrance to your progress, and you choose to ignore it instead of trying to make changes to make things better, that's a problem. There's a huge responsibility when cooking food and serving the public. You can make people very sick and or kill someone. I recommend this business be closed down. If you're reading this and are contemplating eating here, you've been warned. DO NOT EAT HERE!
