First time ever I went to this place. Chimichurri steak was FANTASTIC and the service and explanations of sandwiches from the manager matched it! He was very helpful. We (my lady and I) just recently visited this place for the first time ever, and I can say that I was impressed! I loved that we were greeted properly and with a smile! The food looked fresh and very presentable. I really appreciate the vibrant look of the salad. Also, I liked that their soft drink vending machine carried a brand that uses pure cane sugar for a sweetener and the taste of the root beer soda was well balanced with carbonation and syrup. It was comfortable to sit in that place. They had a few TV screens to look at while eating, and they played decent music that was at a comfortable volume setting. I was looking for something healthy nearby work and I've always wanted to try this. I do like that I can easily make an online order and that there are two parking spots available for just pick up. I had the cilantro chicken salad, which was honestly very bland (I feel like if I had salt, pepper, and some lemon it would've really leveled it up). The bread tasted good. It reminds me of the bread I get at church. I got the strawberry auga fresca drink, but it was way too sweet. The service is fine and very welcoming and the ambience was chill for a lunch hour. For dessert, you can have freshly baked cookies.  You can also  have one of their refreshing drinks The place was very clean and had this modern and relaxing ambience. The staff were very cool and friendly. They have two kiosks to place your orders .You can place your order at the cashier too. I got Bella Portabello mushrooms with gluten free focaccia bread , no feta and side salad. My second order of Bella  Portobello was with regular focaccia bread and everything else. Bella Portabello is my favorite sandwich there. It is really flavorful and huge. I usually eat it on two day. I also ordered pastrami Tri Tip Roast. It was juicy, tender with nice rich and beefy taste .All sandwiches came with fresh side salad. I also tried their yummy grilled cheese with fresh fruit. My family enjoyed their sandwiches. Gluten Free bread was amazing!!!!! Had the Chimichurri Steak sandwich on GF bread. Asked about the bread before choosing and they showed me the box it arrives in. Told me it's their proprietary recipe made and delivered to them, wrapped in plastic. And it was heated and texture and taste were so amazing. While I'd rather not have to pay a $3.25 up charge just to be able to have a sandwich on bread like everyone else, I was happy they had the option and that it wasn't a store bought option very different from their other breads. read more

My lemonade was very very tart, I enjoyed it but I feel like unless you really love something sour, it may not be a preferred choice for some. Was excited about this place, although, paying $15 for a salad which was basically just greens with a sprinkle of toppings... disappointing. I asked a worker if it was supposed to come with more edamame (there were only about 10 pieces of it), and he kindly got me a lot more to add! Typically love this place, but have been quite disappointed lately. Last visit, Ahi Tuna Salad had FAR less tuna in it than ever for the price! (Around $18.00). This visit, (today), Salmon Salad was even more disappointing. The salmon was so cold - which made it stiff. It was like the salmon had been in the refrigerator over night, they just pulled it out and tossed it on my salad! (Not appetizing at all!) Not to mention a standard serving is 3-4 ounces, this was about 2 oz. Guess I expected it to be at least room temperature with a refreshing salad to back it up like most places do. I asked for 2 tablespoons of rice (minimal request because I didn't want a high carb meal) but they didn't do it. Wanted to charge me full price for 2 tablespoons. Rice is pennies on the dollar. $18.57 for a salad (that I also went to pick up), turned out to be basically a bowl of lettuce with a tablespoon each of mango salsa and edamame. We've tried this restaurant a few times. Breads are fresh, I think cooked or made every day. Last time I had a pastrami sandwich, which was flavorful. The Apple coleslaw on this was nice. Had a nice tart flavor, but allowed the balance of the meat, the pepper, and the apple to come through. The tomato soup was delicious. Definitely taste the freshness of this. Not super creamy with an extreme amount of milk or extra cream, but I think the tomato itself created the cream of the soup. There are friendly, helpful, and really ask questions to gain an awareness of what pleases the pallet, to offer something that is going to reflect a good eating experience with you. read more

I was so happy to learn that this place was so close to home. I had visited another location before and decided to try a different menu item here. The ahi I ordered can either be either be made into a sandwich, a salad, or as a bowl. I opted to have the Ahi as a bowl. The ball was really fresh with quinoa cucumbers tomato, and I think that was kale. I really enjoyed it and would probably want to try a sandwich the next time. I ordered a side of honey mustard chips, but I didn't think it was going to be the kettle brand chips. I was thinking it would be more of homemade chips. I don't think I really needed to order the chips. The bowl by itself was fine. The restaurant is new and clean. I really did not have too much of an interaction with the employees since I ordered through the kiosk the food did arrive pretty quick There wasn't a wait while I was there. Alberto was so friendly and welcoming it made our whole dining experience more pleasant! It was our second time at Urbane Cafe and the food did not disappoint! We ordered the steak chimichurri sandwich which was super flavorful and the turkey cranberry Brie which was also delicious! What I loved about the turkey is that it tasted like a Thanksgiving turkey not processed deli meat. As an Uber eats delivery driver I became familiar with this establishment when they opened. It quickly shot to the top of my pick up locations in the area. Up til today I had only allowed myself to indulge in their amazing baked cookies. Today I decided I wanted something healthy and tasty and they did not disappoint. The ahi tuna salad hit the spot. It was filling, visually appealing and so tasty. Best part is that I devoured it with glee because I know I was definitely hitting the mark health wise. The japanese dressing comes on the side so I lightly dressed it. The tuna is a good portion. Not sure if it's seared in house. Whatever the case, it was tasty. Urbane Cafe is such a nice place for lunch! I stopped by this afternoon to dine in for lunch. I had a great experience. The staff is friendly. The interior is clean and the ambiance is crisp. The only downside to my experience was that the music was too loud. Let's talk about the food! I ordered the chimichurri steak sandwich. It was served on chewy focaccia. The steak was tender. It was served with a lite balsamic dressed spring mix salad. I think I would've liked it a little more if the bread was toasted to have a little textural contrast, but overall still a great pick. I also enjoyed their strawberry yuzu agua fresca. My beverage was refreshing. I enjoyed it. I didn't try any of their fresh baked cookies this time, but I definitely will next time. When I asked the young girl at the register if this was the full avocado serving, she deadpanned "That's what it is. I have no control over the food costs." Great. Thanks. Bottom line: don't waste your money on the extras. For $1.50, I got an extra golf ball sized of brown, over-ripe avocado. For $1.50 I could go to Vons and buy 2 whole FRESH avocados. My love for Urbane Cafe started when I came across their location in Bakersfield over 3 years ago. I immediately catered lunch for my clients almost every month because it was that good! Their location in Pasadena is just a tad bit out of the way for me so I'm glad they finally opened another location nearby! Service here is top notch but I hope it doesn't dwindle after Grand Opening. The staff and managers are super nice and welcoming. One of my online orders got misplaced and they weren't able to locate it so the manager (I think), quickly offered to replace it. The store is new so of course it's clean. Lots of bright natural lighting if that matters to you. My go-to salads are the Ahi Tuna Salad and the Santa Maria BBQ Chicken Salad. I thought I would like the Cilantro Chicken but it was a little plain. Their focaccia bread is also delicious! Soft, warm and fluffy. My go-to sandwiches are the UC Banh Mi and the BBQ Tri Tip. Despite living in southern California almost my entire life, I have never had the opportunity to eat at Urbane Cafe and I say what a waste of many years! Urbane Cafe located near APU in Azusa has a very prime location with plentiful parking. This is my second time coming since visiting on their grand opening so I figured it's time for a review! The inside is very clean and relatively new-looking. It's organized well and there are 2 restrooms for use. The ordering line is a little cramped since the cashier is just right there as you enter. Not a ton of seats but just enough to keep busy but not cramped. First visit, we ordered The Ben (kids meal), Santa Maria BBQ sandwich and the Chimichurri steak sandwich. Everything was amazing, fresh salad was included with the sandwiches. They use a vinaigrette dressing and it was the perfect amount, not too much, not too little. The bread was amazing as well! We were also greeted by very friendly staff and, whom I believe to be, the manager or owner? Second visit, we ordered The Ben, Ahi Tuna bowl, and the UC banh mi. The ben, was good again, though the bottom of the bread was a little overcooked this time, making it a little hard to cut with the knife they provided. The UC Banh Mi was overall, pretty tasty, though, it fell apart constantly as it had a lot of small bits inside. The salad was also a bit wilty so it wasn't as fresh as we'd hoped. The Ahi Tuna bowl was absolutely amazing! The fish was perfectly seared, and the toppings went great with each other! Friendly cashier, though, not as over-the-top friendly as the grand opening week, but still much better than many surrounding businesses. Overall, I would definitely return and try the rest of their menu out. I just hope since the grand opening week is over, their quality doesn't slowly degrade over time, I am currently VERY satisfied with their food and service. read more
