We love this place. Their food is really good. It's made with nice and healthy ingredients. We usually get the Santa Maria barbecue salad. It's delicious and it comes with a quarter of a piece of the bread which is delicious. Lots of chicken and bacon. The dressing is great. The servings are very consistent. I've also had the cranberry brie sandwich and it's delicious. The chimichurri steak sandwich is supposed to be delicious also. Good cookies. Nice soda options. The only downside is there is not a lot of ins inside seating. But there is outside seating and as long as it's not raining you are good to go. Service is great. Staff are very friendly. read more

I LOVE Urbane Cafe! The food is amazing and the service is awesome!! First, when they first came to El Cajon, they offered every teacher a free meal! It was such a kind gesture, and I've been a loyal customer ever since! Their customer service continues to be top notch. For example, the other day I placed an order on GrubHub. The app didn't have my favorite sandwich as an option, so I got something else. I called and asked if it would be possible to switch for my favorite sandwich--they could have said no, but instead they made the accommodation!! I know that may not always be possible, and I'm not sure why the GrubHub menu was off, but it's simple things like that that make me want to go out of my way to patron Urbane Cafe!! Second, their food is ABSOLUTELY delicious! I'm pretty much obsessed with the chimichurri steak sandwich. Also, I love that the sandwiches come with a little side salad, because if you eat your salad before your meal, it curbs the blood sugar spike that most meals cause. Worst experience I ever had. First and foremost this is by far my favorite fast food place to eat. Although, expensive the food especially the Cranberry Brie sandwich is ‍. However, today 2/9/26 at 2:00 PM I experienced very rude customer service from what I believe was the manager on duty. 1. When I walked in there was a military man waiting I'm not sure how long but according to his body language arms crossed it could have been a little long. A sweet young girl greeted us. While we waited I noticed an older female employee while making someone's food take food from the container and eat it, after touching her mouth she didnt change gloves. Then a male employee kept wiping his gloved hands on his apron and continued to make food, so I just felt it was unsanitary. Finally, the manager I assume, came to take our orders. As he approached, he folded his arms as if to mock the person's body language. I think he thought it was funny but I ignored him as I didn't think it was ok to mock someone. He took the man's order and it was my turn. I accidentally misspoke and ordered a turkey and brie sandwich, which he doesn't hear and asked me to repeat myself which I did, he looked confused and asked if turkey was ok? (In my head I said Turkey and Brie implying I was ok with Turkey) when I reread the board I realized my mistake and I corrected myself Cranberry and Brie I said it twice to make sure he understood and then he asked again but in a very rude and mocking way and for some weird reason in a valley girl accent, is Turkey ok? I was so taken aback, I said yes and then I said, nevermind I'm good. I hope no one has similar poor customer service because the food is great. Always see this place so busy whenever I am around this strip mall and just had to go try it. I had never been here before but it struck me that it was super clean and the staff was friendly without being obnoxious. My friend ordered the cranberry Brie sandwich with a salad. I got the Abbot's Southwest salad, which I highly recommend. It's a plant based chorizo on a chopped salad mix with avocado, corn, black bean salsa, and Follow Your Heart feta. The portions are perfect and everything tastes fresh. That focaccia bread that comes with it is crazy delicious! I could've eaten just that and been thrilled. Comes with salad mix, coleslaw mix, bacon, goat cheese but, I get it with gorgonzola instead, corn & black bean salsa, grape tomatoes, bbq sauce, and chipotle ranch but, I swap out for regular ranch instead. I never finish a meal, and I always finish this salad and it's huge. This place is healthy and their price point is completely affordable, especially during these crazy times.
