Just had lunch here, and we will be back! As a first timer, I had the soup and salad combo. The soup, tomato bisque, was "lick the bowl" good, and the focaccia bread was fresh and tasty. The accompanying house salad had feta cheese and mandarin oranges. With the added tri-tip to the house salad, I had the perfect light lunch for a cool day. Was not impressed. Everytime I go to this place I am disappointed. Last time I was there I had the Cafe salad. The pears are canned mushy pears. The chicken was a big mushy chunk as well. I don't even think I had one pecan on the salad which it was supposed to have. Not impressed at all. read more

Stopped in for lunch on break and I had the So Cal sandwich. Absolutely fantastic. Fresh roasted chicken with aioli sauce, lettuce and fresh avocado and a side salad. Delicious. I have eaten here 4 times since they opened. The food is super fresh and delicious. The customer service is on par with In and out, and Whole Foods meaning The people that work there are very good at customer service. The staff is polite, friendly and attentive. Real sweeties. Super excited about this cafe in the neighborhood! Encinitas was lacking creative outside the norm salad options and Urbane Cafe is just what it needed. I got a to go order and checked before leaving and had the wrong salad, but other than that no complaints. Food was great and bread delicious. Came here on a Sunday at 6:15 and they were closed even though it says they are open until 8pm. Was bummed about that but highly recommend urbane cafe for yummy food! read more

Dropped in on a Saturday afternoon after kids soccer game. Parking was easy and line was quick. Cute place that is likely a chain but new to me. Lots of options on the menu so I had a hard time deciding. The items with hearts are the favorites so i picked the Ahi Salad while the kids had turkey and grilled cheese sandwiches. Love that they had a lemonade bar so I mixed up a yummy concoction with pomegranate rosemary lemonade. Delicious! The salad was fantastic. Loved the dressing and shaved radishes. Friend had the Bahn Mi Tri Tip which was very good but not exactly traditional. Kids loved their meals. Best part? Their signature bread. Soft and delicious! They encouraged us to try a cookie. So glad we did. Whíte chocolate cranberry cookie melted in my mouth! Service was friendly and speedy. Overall really great new spot. Excited to come back and try more items. read more

I came here because I saw the new asian fusion bowl and was pretty excited for a new vegetarian option that wasn't just vegetables. I ordered for pickup online, but when I got back to my car I saw the bowl didn't have any tofu on it. When I went back the staff informed me they were out of tofu, but I could have chicken instead. The staff was very polite & nice, and obviously running out of something is not something the staff is able to control, but I just wish they would have called me before making the order as I normally wouldn't want to pay $10 for just rice and some sparse vegetables. read more

I was in town for a visit and saw this place on Yelp. Looked interesting so gave it a try. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. I had the chicken presto sandwich and was very pleased. It even had a little salad. I am happy to see it is a small chain with a new one coming to Pasadena so I might be able to go more often. read more

We had not visited the restaurant since the pandemic started and were pleasantly satisfied with the customer service that we received. The food was yummy as always! My 87 year old grandmother had her doordash order cancelled after waiting an hour for it. Doordash never informed her of this and she isn't the best with technology. She called me frantic and confused as she had a friend over for lunch and they had been waiting and getting hungry. When I called Urbane they informed me that her order had been cancelled by Doordash, but when I arrived to pick up the food they had remade the sandwhiches so they were hot and fresh and were very kind and understanding. Well I must say I have not visited this place since back when it first opened. And to be honest I must say that the manager that was working today who took my order was the same gal that helped me and my family on our first visit here. Rosa the manager has always given me the best guest service that I have had in along time and especially with covid going on she was very understanding and patient with my needs. I must say every dish I have had here is full of flavor, even their sandwiches are full of flavor. They do serve you a lot of bread which they bake, and I am not too much into that. I like their shiitake mushroom burger, very good. I like this place and I am going back !! read more

I went to Urban Cafe because I had a free meal. I got a the memphis BBQ chicken sandwich. I took the bacon off because it was soft and mushy instead of crispy. Other than that the sandwich was yummy. I really liked it! At first I thought it was a total Heath food restaurant and I'm thinking favorless food. But it was quite the contrary I got the turkey club and I have to say it was one of the best turkey clubs I've ever had. The bread they use and the spread the chicken everything about the sandwich was just top notch. It came with the salad and it had like a vinaigrette on it and it was delicious all spring mix lettuce. I also got the chicken soup and it was really good. So if you're in the mood just for a really good sandwich and a fairly good portion size I would say this is the place. The wait to get our food was long, even though the restaurant was slow. My kids didn't like the focaccia bread that the kids' grilled cheese was served on. None of the salads are gluten free because there is gluten in the dressing. I ordered the only gluten free item, the Fiesta Bowl. My food came out different than the description (missing main ingredient, and very sparse on other ingredients - basically just a bowl of rice). When we tried to get help, I ended up standing and waiting as it appeared the "server/cashier" had communicated the issue to the kitchen staff. After 10 minutes waiting to get my meal fixed, I left with my kids while my husband spent another 5 minutes trying to get the missing ingredient added, to-go at that point. My husband, kids and myself did not like our meals, very bland food. Generally we eat very healthy, and it is possible to make healthy food that tastes great - that is not the case here. The girl at the front was trying, which I appreciated, but she seemed overwhelmed. The only other good thing was that the place seemed clean. read more

My husband and I tried this place out for dinner and really loved the portion sizes, the flavors, and the pricing. The service was great as well. I had gotten the protein salad with a side of the tomato soup which comes with the focaccia. My husband got the green Chile chicken with the side soup as well. The flavors for bothering the salad and the soup were delicious. My husband enjoyed his sandwich and indicated that the size of the sandwich and the amount of the sides given were awesome! The soup was also very nice and creamy. The focaccia that they serve is absolutely amazing since it's fluffy, soft, and a large piece. When biting into the focaccia, you realize you don't want it to disappear! I believe they use the same bread for the sandwiches. Yum yum! I stopped in to check out this new location. So happy it's so close to home! Now they just opened two weeks ago and are definitely still getting all their kinks worked out. They got a little confused on my order, but they're brand new and were very friendly. Angelica, the girl at the register, was so nice! She was so welcoming and had a great attitude! I got the Tuscan Sandwich. I eat primarily vegan, so I requested a few alterations. No cheese and no aioli. It ended up still coming with the aioli, which I didn't make a fuss about considering I'm a pretty loose vegan. The bread was mighty tasty and the sun-dried tomato had great flavor! My parents joined me and they got their ordered mixed up a little too. One got a BBQ sandwich, the other a BBQ salad. They couldn't figure out which one didn't have bacon. Again, not a huge deal. And they're new. I definitely want to be back to try them out again when the wrinkles are ironed out a little more. read more
