Urbane Cafe is a fast-casual restaurant that specializes in refined bowls, salads, soups, and sandwiches at affordable prices. The chain was founded in 2003 in Ventura, CA, and currently has 41 locations in Southern and Central California as well as Nevada (as of December 2025). I'm a regular customer at this Stephanie and Sunset Street location, and despite being surrounded by so many solid competitors offering similar products, the restaurant is usually bustling with activity. In my opinion, the warm customer service and fish offerings at Urbane Cafe truly set them apart from the rest, and I often visit specifically for their mouthwatering fish bowls. Speaking of which, the A Really Good Fish Bowl they recently brought back seems to be a personal love letter to me. It's like having a Southern "meat and three sides" in a bowl with a Southern California twist. I just hope they used grandma's spices and Mississippi River water like the food blogger foodiechina888 on IG & TikTok. Lol.

This simple little corner cafe offers so much delicious food made soulfully. It's all made in house and from scratch. Remember the way that grandma used to bake bread; I do. After eating lunch here it's like eating at grandmas house when I was young. Let's venture more into what lunch should taste like. It's unlike any other place that you have had for lunch. It's not only delicious, it's delightful. We dined in and we're greeted promptly as we walked in the door. Our cashier was nice with a positive polite attitude and a great smile. As we ordered she was greeted by her supervisor whom inquired about our day. We informed the staff that this was our first visit and will not be the last. My lunch date decided to opt for a sandwich which comes with a small salad. I decided on the pear salad with added goat cheese. Mmmm, did I mention to you how delicious our lunch was? The salad was amazing. It had fresh avocados and canned pears placed in a bed of fresh greens. I opted to have the chicken on the side, which is a great benefit that they allowed. Everything was made to order. As we sat and waited for our food the lobby was bright and comfortable. The color patterns were very appropriate and appealing to the eye. What's not more to love? Good food that feeds your soul, and lifts your spirit. After eating our lunch we walked out full and happy, not fat and happy. For the food fed us and left our bellies full on life, love and light. Are you looking for a place to feed your soul, not just your appetite? Stop in here for lunch for some greatness.

If you're looking for a fresh sandwich or salad, Urbane Cafe has some good options. I ordered a Pesto & Sundried Tomato sandwich. Unfortunately they were short staffed the day we went so we were directed to personless kiosk to place our order, which I'm not a huge fan of. You then take a seat and wait for the food. Took about 10-15 minutes for the food to be ready during the lunch hour. Sandwiches by default come with a small side salad with balsamic dressing. Overall, the food tasted fresh and the portion size was pretty good. The service was a bit haphazard which is the reason for 4 stars.

Upon entering, we were greeted immediately. We arrive around 11:45 am on a Thursday. Only one other couple was in the restaurant. We used the kiosk to place our order. Easy to use. Our food came out pretty quickly. I think our server was Sarah and she was extremely nice and helpful. This restaurant seems like a great place for a quick healthier meal. The taste of the food was great but could actually use a bit more protein. I think one of the options when ordering is to add an additional portion of the protein. Next time I would, definately for the seared ahi tuna bowl. My husband ate the Seared Ahi Tuna Bowl, I had the St Maria Bbq chicken salad. I would definately go back and would like to try a sandwich.

Came here on a Saturday afternoon after hiking and wanting to refuel with something clean yet filling. Urban Cafe's salad and bowl selection checked those boxes! I ordered the Cilantro Chicken Salad with blue cheese (bottom). My friend ordered the High Protein Bowl (top). The ingredients were fresh and crisp. The dressing was on the side so I can add as much or little as I want without making the salad soggy. Parking is really easy to find since it's located in a plaza. It seems to be mostly a takeout spot, but if you want to dine in, you self-order at the kiosk, grab your own number, and choose your seat. Highly recommend this spot if you're looking for a simple, casual meal.

I don't go to these different locations enough to differentiate one from the other, but I enjoyed this one! Food quality was spot on for what I was expecting, and the cookies were warm and delicious! Service was also very friendly.

Goat cheese when specifically requested no cheese due to allergies

Urbane Cafe's handling of my allergen request was careless and disrespectful. After driving 20 minutes to place a larger order in person and clearly requesting no goat cheese due to an allergy, both salads still came with goat cheese when I got home. When I called to explain the situation, there was no apology, no offer of a credit, and I was told I had to drive back if I wanted it fixed--as if my time and safety didn't matter. To make matters worse, the call was ended on me, which felt extremely unprofessional and dismissive. Overall, this experience showed a complete lack of care for customers with allergies, and I will not be returning or recommending this location.

I finally went to see what this this cafe was about and it was ok. It's definitely better than Subway and better pricing than Panera. The big selling point is that they make the focaccia bread in house. It's definitely fresh and I can appreciate that. It has a herb seasoning that isn't rosemary which I liked. The server recommended the Chili Slice Crunch Chicken sandwich as it was back by popular demand. It came with a small side salad with a balsamic vinaigrette dressing. I ordered a drink as well. The soda machine had craft sodas instead of the major brands like Coke or Pepsi. I thought the Snozzberry soda was fun. It tasted like a berry soda and more on the sweet side so I opted for the dragon fruit agua fresca later. It was average. The inside seating had high tops which were too high for me, but there were some regular tables to sit in. It was kind of clean, but it had quite a few people coming and going. They bring your food to you and the to go containers were very sturdy which I appreciate. The sandwich itself was good, but more bread than meat ratio. Overall, it's worth trying at least once and if you want a different lunch option that is a bit healthier than a fast food drive through.

The atmosphere here is warm and inviting. Each staff member is helpful in suggestions and in explaining the details of how their dishes are made and the expressions of how things taste(if you've not tried certain things before). I've dined in and ordered delivery through DoorDash. They make their focaccia bread fresh. It's soft, moist and delicious! I love their ahi bowls and salad options. I've visited a few times with friends and enjoy their craft soda beverage options. They also have craft tea that you can have hot or cold. Their tables and chairs layout is spacious with high table options and low to accommodate folks with wheelchairs. There's also wheelchair access right at their front door.

Not many (great) vegan options. My girlfriend enjoyed her chicken banh mi, however, my tofu was less than par. Very dry, carrots tasted like they came out of a plastic bag (I'm not saying they actually did; trying to provide details). The tofu was cold & didn't even seem like it was cooked (it might have). The bread was also sub par, not very tasty. Service was good. A few people were extremely friendly & a couple of people were not so friendly. The batch sodas tasted very medicinal (not a good thing). All in all, not a place I'd go back to right away. Overall, Thank you Team Urbane Cafe. I appreciate you.

We Uber eats from Urbane Cafe and paid for by our Medical Rep Joe. We ordered more than a dozen dish. Alas, they missed 1 order for a very important tech. Anyway our food came on time. I ordered a chimichurri steak sandwich and it comes with a side salad. I tell you this sandwich is so delicious !!!! My first time trying this place and I'm impressed!! Maybe next time I'll visit the cafe and check it out.

Today was the 2nd time we've ordered pick-up from here & this place is a real treasure! I ordered the Power Veggie salad with balsamic vinaigrette and it is probably the best salad I've ever had. The serving size is huge (almost 2 dinners for me) and the greens are fresh & beautiful. It had corn, black beans, Feta cheese, pecan pieces, garbanzo beans, edamame & roasted sweet potatoes. The dressing is outstanding and the salad is a vegetarian's dream! It was only $9.95. My husband ordered the Cranberry Brie roasted turkey sandwich that had housemade cranberry chutney, arugula and herb aioli. It had a generous portion of both turkey and Brie and came with a side salad. It was $10.95. Both orders were inexpensive, had extremely generous portions and were delicious. Highly recommend!!! read more

We tried this place for the first time via DoorDash. Definitely found my new fav!!! We ordered the tri-tip sandwich and ahi tuna bowl with extra tuna. IT WAS SOOO GOOD! More Ahi than I knew what to do with, totally worth it. We loved all of their sauces, too. And the bread! Yum. I've already sent a few friends to try it out. Very busy place. Service was fine, but while waiting for our to go food, I had to sit at a table in the restaurant where others were eating. Watching them just made me hungrier, in spite of the awkward eye contact. The inside was nice and clean as well, but onto the food! I ordered the Keto Cobb Salad, the BBQ Tri-Tip, the Southwest, the Pastrami Tri-Tip, and the Chimichurri Steak Sandwiches. They bake the bread for the buns right there, so that was nice, and it tasted good on the sandwiches. The Keto Cobb Salad: Barely Average. Unremarkable, I expected much more from such a 'cool' place. Will not get again. BBQ Tri-Tip: Not Great. There was a weird sweet flavor that I did not like. The meat was tougher than I expected. Will not order again. The Southwest: Unknown. I gave that one to my 90 year old dad and he disappeared with it and never commented. If it's bad, he usually will say something, so I will assume he thought this one was 'good'. Pastrami Tri-Tip: Very Good. I gave this to my son, and I give it this rating based on the noises of happiness he made. With. Every. Bite. Chimichurri Steak: Slightly Above Average. Once again I feel like there was conflicting flavors- maybe it's that cranberry chutney. If I order this again, it will be without that. Once again, I expected moister more tender steak as opposed to what I received. I think it could use more Chimichurri sauce too. That's it. This place has potential for sure, I will visit again to try different things. I really, really want to love this place! It's worth trying for sure. read more

Went for an early lunch today. Easy ordering from an IPad. Everyone very friendly and they gave me a mini chocolate chip cookie while I was waiting for my food. I had the ahi tuna bowl. It was fresh and tasty as well as the homemade lemonade. The only downside is that the place started to get busy when I was halfway through my lunch and the seating is very limited. No one tried to rush me out at all but waiting patrons were eyeing my table so much that I quickly finished and left. This is no reflection on the business at all. I just felt uncomfortable eating alone at a larger table. I'll definitely be back but maybe come even earlier to ensure that I beat the crowd. read more

My favorite lunch spot growing up in CA! Was so glad to see they opened a location here. Everything is delicious. Best focaccia bread and balsamic salad dressing I've had. Ok. So Urbane Cafe is my new fave place. Since moving to the Las Vegas/ Henderson area last May I have truly been under-whelmed with many restaurants and cafes I've tried, but Urbane Cafe is the exception. Today, I had the Baja Bowl which was fresh, healthy and tasty. ... And don't even get me started on the handmade, fresh Foccacia Bread. I'm not really a big fan generally of foccacia, but the bread at Urbane is amazing. You can truly tell it is made fresh daily. I Highly recommend this place. I would love to see them expand to more locations in Las Vegas and Henderson. My only hope is that some big corporate chain doesn't acquire them and change things, because what they have now is truly great. read more

GLUTEN FRIENDLY FOCACCIA Their gluten-friendly sandwiches are DELICIOUS. The BBQ Tri-tip is my personal favorite. My husband and I split one sandwich with a side of Honey Dijon Kettle Chips - SO GOOD. They even follow our special instructions to only put the apple slaw on one half of the sandwich. We ate at the Urbane Cafe today following lunch at the "celebrated" All-vintage sandwich shop in the Uncommons, yesterday. Okay, so I found this place on ubereats randomly, but let me tell you, EVERYTHING I've tried on their menu has hit it out of the park. The Ahi salad is a 10/10 for me which is rare, AND the cranberry white chocolate cookie is also a 10/10, best cookie I've ever eaten, I'm seriously addicted. If you're looking for healthy, fresh, delicious food that isn't gonna break the bank, this is the place. I've found my new obsession! Not only is Urbane serving up absolutely delicious food but they are so nice! Their customer service is incredible. Oscar was superb and did everything he could to make sure I was happy and satisfied with the food and service I received yesterday. Their bread, salad dressing, drink station, cookies were all so delicious that I can't wait to go back and try something new. If you want something quick that is also fresh, homemade, and incredible quality then Urbane is the place to go! I'm definitely going to be a repeat customer! Overall 3 well my expectations were high based on the reviews I read here Ambiance - place is new so its clean, nice interior Food - a bit pricey- i ordered the pastrami sandwich with tomato bisque. The food was great the prices were excellent, the staff was too friendly, actually, the friendliness almost felt fake and forced. Just be real, not over the top fake friendly. Also the drink selection was odd, Snozberries was disgusting. I have a feeling the prices will not be able to stay where they are at. The quality of the food, the amenities and such are higher than any other restaurants in the shopping center but prices are lower than even Jimmy John's next door. We shall see read more

I was looking for something quick, easy and most importantly healthy, and this hit all three. I got the peanut salad which was so fresh and delicious and my husband got the tri tip sandwich and he said it was really good. Jocelyn was very sweet and helpful. Food was very good for sandwiches and salads, I had the pastrami and the wife had the steak sandwich and we shared the chicken southwest salad. We are so glad that Urbane Cafe has opened in our neighborhood! History

Established in 2003.

It all started in 2003 when owner Tom Holt realized there was a missing niche in the Ventura restaurant scene. He wanted a great sandwich and salad 'Äì something different, while still being dedicated to delicious-tasting food. He understood that every great sandwich starts with the freshest of bread, so he designed the cafe around a hearth oven. Working with his friend Pete, they came up with a bread recipe that was soft, delicious and baked fresh, right in front of your eyes. It didn'Äôt stop there though, he created a menu centered around locally sourced ingredients, juicy-roasted meats, and crafted sauces to give each creation its own unique flavor. Urbane Cafe loves being the place where friends, family, and communities gather to celebrate and make memories over delicious food. Our passion is to have our guests walk out happy every time and keep them coming back for more.

Meet the Business Owner: Tom H.

Tom Holt is the owner, founder and Chief Bread Head of Urbane Cafe. As a young child Tom developed a love for motocross racing. His first career was at the age of sixteen when he became a professional motocross racer. In 2003, Tom Holt'Äôs vision was to bring a great-tasting, healthy, and affordable sandwich and salad restaurant to the friendly people of Ventura, California: a nice, small town where he grew up. Urbane Cafe quickly became the gathering place where people meet to engage, relax and enjoy a great meal at a great value. The success of that first location proved that Tom had struck a chord with the local community. Urbane Cafe is all family owned and has continued to expand since 2003 to multiple locations across California.

The meat is fantastic, the bun is excellent, but I'm just not a special sauce kind of person. All they need to do to make their burger really awesome is to carry some BBQ sauce. That's it. But burgers, wings, fries, this place offers a number of things that could be elevated by keeping a few bottles of BBQ in the fridge. I used to love the beef stroganoff that they had for a while, but I guess it must not have been popular because they got rid of it. It seems that in it's place they started offering a Shepards pie. I was excited about this meal until it arrived and the potatoes were filled with cheese. A Shepards pie does not traditionally have any cheese. So it is probably a good idea for the menu to mention that it is in there. In any case, I tried to order it sans the cheese but I guess it is pre mixed into the mash or something. They cant make it with no cheese. :( Lastly, and most depressingly, they took the shrimp appetizer off of the happy hour menu! This was a real kick-in-the-dick for me. I have probably came to BLVD Grille at least 10 times in the last year specifically because the happy hour $5 shrimp appetizer was so outstanding. I am genuinely depressed that they took it off the happy hour menu. I haven't tried the steaks yet, I want to, but most days, I'm just looking for some shrimp, a side of fries and a drink. I haven't given up on this place yet, but I feel like I'm losing my favorite menu items one by one.

Looking for an unforgettable lunch or dinner experience? Look no further than Urban Cafe Henderson, Nevada! We recently had a delicious lunch there and we're still craving it! The pastrami tri-tip sandwich? Absolutely amazing! The focaccia bread is freshly made all day and the filling-to-bread ratio is perfect. And oh, the southwest chicken sandwich! It's a burst of flavors in your mouth, served with a green salad dressed with a mind-blowing vinaigrette! But hold on, there's more! The tomato bisque soup was the perfect companion, especially when paired with a slice of their heavenly fresh-baked focaccia bread. The staff was not only professional but also went the extra mile to ensure our satisfaction. Shoutout to Yahayra, the General Manager, who personally made sure our experience was outstanding. The Southwest is buzzing with amazing restaurants, and one of my favorites is Urbane Cafe. Who would've thought healthy food could be so delicious? Their bread is the star of the show, making any sandwich they serve, like the So Cal, BBQ Tri Tip, Club, and my personal favorite, the Chimichurri Steak, absolutely mouthwatering. I visited this restaurant for the first time and had an amazing experience. The place was clean, and the food went above my expectations. The focaccia bread that came with my meal was made of fresh, and it was soft and delicious. My server Sophia, and the manager Alex, were extremely kind and attentive. Food is good, but customers can't enjoy it because their dinning room is too cold. Management says they can't do anything about the temperature because corporate controls everything. I felt as if this company wants my money, but not me. read more
