I was not able to order ahead of time because I tried placing a phone order and the restaurant would not answer. I tried online order but the website would not take my order either. I work close by and Love their food. Usually don't have a lot of time and this might be Petty but they only have ONE SIZE drink and when you take it to go, you get a smaller sized cup that I can't get a refill like the customers that have time to eat it there. I've asked several times and never get the reason behind them only having ONE size drink. I have no problem paying more to get a bigger sized drink. Am I the only one that feels this way? I get it, it's easier to only order one size cup and inventory them and I know I can't be the only one that would like drink left in my cup when I'm back at home or Work finishing my salad or sandwich! Here for the weekend for a cousin's wedding and stopped by for lunch. I read the sign on Mother's Day, Mom's could get a free cookie and today is Saturday and won't be in the area on Mother's Day. In the same week, 2 different people told me about how much the loved Urbane Cafe. So, my husband decided to check it out and he loved it. His palate is hard to please, so congrats Urbane! So later in the week, when we had to decide what to do for food at our daughter's birthday party, the answer was too easy!!! When we inquired about catering, they said they only need a 10 minute notice! So, I ordered the night before to pick up when they open the next day. The employees were so EASY to work with! 3 platters of sandwiches & salads was way more than what we needed for a party of 18 adults and 7 kids. Each platter had 12, good-sized triangle sandwiches of our choice. We had a platter of Bbq chicken (sweet and yummy), SoCal Chicken (spicy and delicious), the Californian (veggie and so-good) and the BLAT (bacon-lettuce-avocado-tomato goodness). Then the salads? The platter was just as big as the sandwich platter! We ordered the side salad it came with and upgraded 2 of others to the Cafe salad and the Cobb salad. Well, we still have 1 salad in the fridge and 5 sandwiches leftover. Well, worth the money! Alot of guests live about an 1+ hours away and they wished they had an Urbane close to them. Unlike another popular sandwich chain that gives you $5 worth of 12 inches of bread, the chicken, chilies, tomatoes, onions and cheese filled every bite! My wife and I had an experience with the urban Cafe on Gonzales road. Last month we didn't say anything at the time. or posted it on yelp till today! I have asked my wife would you like Urban Cafe for dinner the last several weeks, and had declined. She finally told me why? She said do you remember last month when we called in our order? My bf & I would come here weekly bc most of their sandwiches are good here! I get the pesto chicken every time and it never fails. They make their bread fresh in a hearth oven and omg, it is so warm and fluffy. So delicious!! We recently encountered, for the very first time, cold bread. ;( We were so upset bc their fresh & hot bread is what makes the sandwich THAT much tastier. So we had expressed to Erika (worker) that it was cold. She said she would make us a new one, the "new" one was still cold/not fresh. At that point we just wanted a refund bc cold bread isn't what we are use to there. She then told us she would bake fresh bread for us since the last batch of bread they made was an hour ago; we didn't mind the wait bc the wait is normally 10 mins at any Urbane Cafe. So happy she was willing to fix the problem AND offer us fountain drinks & cookies while we waited. Zero customer service skills. After placing my order, the employee was shouting at everyone, myself included, "Go wait outside! You ordered, now go wait outside." It's not necessarily what he was saying, it's how he was saying it. He was very rude. It's very obvious he was just one of those employees dying for an ounce of authority. Also, his pants were dirty and full of stains. Then, I come home to see that my order is incorrect. The woman who took my order, Samatha, placed it correctly. But when I picked it up, I was given a sandwich flavor I did not choose. It had beans inside of it, which is actually a dietary restriction of mine. That is not what I ordered. I called them back, and clicked on the mobile orders option. I was placed on hold for 12 whole minutes before I hung up and threw away my sandwich. They didn't even know I was calling about a mistake on their part. What if someone was actually trying to place a mobile order? It would take more than 12 minutes to place an order? We order here often from my office. It's a great place to grab a quick salad or sandwich and provides a healthier alternative for lunch. I typically order the Cafe Salad with grilled chicken. The only thing negative that I'd have to mention is...make sure when you order chicken on your salad you check to make sure it's there before you get back to the office. They have forgotten to put it on several times and it has happened to others I have talked to as well. Nevertheless, they have always been very understanding of the mistake and will offer to comp your next meal if you leave your name and who you talked to. The staff is very helpful and friendly. This place is usually packed during the lunch rush, so I would suggest calling in and picking up your order rather than trying to wait for a table. Overall, aside from the few chicken incidents, I would recommend this place to anyone looking for an office lunch or catering service for a conference meeting. I like Urbane Café. It's our go-to place at work, especially when we have to buy lunch for our auditors and inspectors. I love that I can place my order online and pay online, then just drive out and pick up my food. The only problem I experience sometimes (just as in any other place) they short me on the extras that I order. Otherwise, the service and prices are reasonable. The wait is sometimes a bit long if dining in, but it's not horrible. read more
