Popped into this place for a quick bite while visiting Cal Poly SLO. All the different dishes we got -- uniformly fresh and delicious. Tried their sandwiches and bowls and really liked the balance of sauce/flavoring with letting the natural ingredients come through. Just prepared very well and even nice to look at. What impressed me even more though was the service. They were super busy while we were there and we admittedly mixed up the name of a dish. Twice. When the food came and we finally figured it out, they were incredible gracious and kindly fixed it all for us without even a hint of annoyance. This is kinda a fast food joint but with better quality food. I had a salad with chicken, pear, and avocado. My husband had a Mediterranean chicken bowl. The bread that came with the meal was very tasty. Service is just the person at the register and a runner, it was fine. They have indoor and outdoor tables. The only thing that was a bummer was that the restrooms are definitely a no go zone, very badly maintained. I would recommend not using them, and I don't say this lightly. read more

This place has such bad customer service. I was told I would be receiving a refund for an order mishap the hour of it happening, and to reorder since they'll handle it later that day and I will get my money back. I went in person to pick up my new order and to just get the refund in person and I was told to wait until later that day because they were busy. How are you too busy to give me a refund?? I was told four times I would receive a call back, and then an email of confirmation of the refund, but they haven't done it. Every single time I call, I am told that they are busy and they will do it later or call me back but they do not follow through. It's been two weeks at this point and I still haven't received my $22 refund nor an email confirmation. It's nuts and you cannot be too busy to respond to a customer for TWO weeks. I work in customer service as well so I was understanding and kind whenever I would call obviously, but at this point I am irritated by the blatant lies and disrespect. Saying that the food was 10/10 was an understatement. Urbane does well in blending healthy foods with tasty sauces and spices. You'll always leave here knowing that you got what's best for your body in terms of nutrients and vitamins. The staff is equally as great; all are very welcoming. I'd like to especially give kudos to Lucero, who welcomed me in and took my order in as quickly as possible in such a professional manner. She gave a great recommendation for the salmon bowl, though I had already heard it was good, which proves just how much the staff know their stuff. She even offered to clean up my area and take my dishes after I had finished. 10/10 service as well. Ambience was great too. I like the casual seats and booths that almost make me feel like I'm at the park, though the music is too "coworker-like" for me. I came in at a relatively busy time (most of the seats were taken up), but the food still came out quickly. Though I didn't sit outside, it seemed like a nice area to people watch/ talk with a group while you wait for the food. A little on the pricey side, mainly with the beverage and dessert added, but overall, not a bad place in the heart of downtown. Portion sizes were significant and definitely were a great value. But even better than that were the flavors and freshness of the ingredients.
