Today I had the worst experience I have had in a vet's office with my dog ever in over 14 years! I was kept waiting for a dr in a poopy, smelly room for over an hour and then told they would text me an invoice to sign before they would provide any sort of treatment. I have been using this vet for over a year and have been generally satisfied. So I provide the following description of today's horrible visit with that caveat that what made it the most shocking is that I've never been treated like this by any doctor or drs assistant there at any time before today. My 14+ year old dog, who is sweet and docile and has never had any problems at all at a vet's office, had nothing seriously wrong with him - some type of something was muddled up in a ball in front of his tush and needed to be cleaned out - he wouldn't let me get near it. It was clear he was uncomfortable and smelly and having accidents which he never does. I called URVET appreciating that this was clearly nothing fatal but mentioned that maybe I could get his vaccines done early while I was there. The receptionist told me to come in an hour later which I did. We were brought to a room where the assistant, whose name I don't really know but later they told me was Ashley (which it could or may not be cause when I asked for it they could tell I was pissed), came in relatively quickly. I told her what the problem was and while I there asked if I could get his vaccines taken care of even though I was early. Ashley wrote down the symptoms and then asked me repeated questions about his health history until I finally told her "you have his charts!" By this point, you could see that my pup had pooped in the room which given the situation makes perfect sense.. I point it out to this person Ashley who tells me "don't worry about it you can show the doctor." She leaves, comes back in few minutes later to ask more questions, the answers to all of which are still in his chart, and tells me it may be a little while cause the dr. was involved in a procedures. No big deal. I wait assuming that in the meantime someone would come clean up the smelly room. I was in that closed room with my dog for over an hour. Not once did anyone check in on us and never did anyone clean up the poop that smelled like...well, like poop. The dr finally came in. I explained what the problem was, pointed out the poop still in the room and she said they would do little clipping and wash him up and do anal cleaning. Was this the only reason I came in. I said yes, clearly the dog is uncomfortable. I didnt' even mention the vaccines. It was obvious she had not even looked at his chart either. So she then says she will text me an estimate. Text me an estimate??? WTF? I'm right there - just tell me what it is I told her he has to get this done, please just take him back and I'll take care of the bill. She says no I have to follow procedures. And she leaves the room. So now I'm still in the room with poop waiting for a text from the vet who is literally less than 200 feet away from me. Few minutes later Ashley pops in to ask if I have received the text. I told her no. She tells me to check my emails. I found it. She says great to please read it and sign it and then go to the front desk and leave a deposit so they can take care of my dog. Again, WTF??? I am right in front of you!!! I told her to print out the damn invoice for me, I will sign it and pay the bill...leave a deposit for what? So I go to the front desk. They print out the invoice. I sign it. Pay it. Here comes Ashley again. My dog by now is a nervous wreck. In my arms hanging on for dear life I go to hand him to Ashley and she asks for his leash. His leash? Are you kidding me? You don't even care enough about my 14 pound 14 year old dog that you've left in a smelly room for over an hour to put him in your arms and carry him down the hall?! How the hell were you even ever hired? They didn't just give him a little clip. They literally shaved off all of the hair from under his tail completely. I could hear him scream from the exam he had in the back while waiting for him in the lobby. I am livid and angry. This is not how any animal owner or any animal should ever be treated anywhere by any over-priced careprovider - especially when there was no argument about the price and mutual agreement that what needed to be done was nothing very serious. Just give a damn about my pet. Please. And if you know we will be kept waiting for over an hour on a weekday, please clean up the poop or offer us another place to wait. As I said I have never had this problem at this office before and I am honestly not sure if I would go back or not. And..I have never before posted a negative review about anyone or anywhere at anytime. But what I just experienced at this office warranted the effort. read more

please do not take your pet to this clinic, i had the worst experience. my dog was in agony and after determining he had a back problem acute they refused to give a pain shot and wanted to give the same medicine that had not worked that day. i spent $490 and they were holding the relief to rip me off for bloodwork and x-rays that were not necessary. it was not until i called the police did the dog get treated properly. the owner is a horror show and barred me from coming back. everything is bugged and recorded there. stay away is the best advise and go anywhere else. read more

Really awful place. I went from Brooklyn to the city to this place because of their pitching better prices. Wrong. But far worse is that the vet and the front desk person were pretty awful. The vet took Sammy back and came out quickly saying in her lrog ssional opinion Sammy should be euthanized. I was curious. I came to find out why he was suddenly so very sick. I had to plead for her to do tests. She said she felt strongly that he should be euthanized. She did the labs and charged $774. He needed a blood transfusion. They had no blood. Sent me a few blocks away to VEG. They gave I'm treatmentall night...nothing fancy ...just got his temp up to normal...hydrated him...have some.protein. But guess what? They had no blood also. This is TWO emergency vet clinics that have no blood. At least VEG did something and charged $530. I am unhappy with both but the UR hospital was a very bad experience. read more

I had a decent experience here. Very clean, sweet vet techs and vets, etc. I ended up switching vets because my dog was incorrectly administered a vaccine - he was given two of the same vaccine rather than two separate and I wasn't notified for months and then had to pay to get him the correct vaccines later on. Sounds like a little mistake but definitely altered my trust for the practice! Overall very sweet people working there and they truly mean well, I just couldn't get past that incident - they are also VERY expensive and even a quick vaccine appt ended up being super pricy. read more

I am highly disappointed in my experience with this vet group. I usually go to Bond Vet but due to my work schedule and my dog developing an infection, I decided to come here since I live nearby. My dog began to develop an abscess on her paw and I took her to this clinic during my lunch break in hopes of getting her started on antibiotics before the infection became worse. I was reassured there were no signs of infection and the area was just red/swollen from her "licking the area". I was charged almost $400 for the vet to clean and bandage her paw, meanwhile the visit was 1.5 hours. Fast forward a few days later, the infection became worse and I reached out asking about antibiotics. Initially I was told to come in for a recheck visit, they then agreed to just prescribe the meds. We picked up the meds (antibiotic, topical, apoquel). A few days later, my dog managed to get into the medications and ingest all of her apoquel. I called this vet, as I was working/live nearby, and this was a time-sensitive issue. They told me they would not see my dog until I contacted poison control, although I stated I had been on hold with them for 20+ minutes. I ended up going to my regular vet who then directed me to the ER due to abnormal labs. I was told this is a commonly overdosed medication, due to the tablet being chewable and tasteful to animals, and that this should have been educated to me. They were also unsure as to why this medication had been prescribed for an infection, as this medication is typically prescribed for allergies/itching. The ER vet visit resulted in a $5,000 bill. Although my dog getting into her medication was ultimately my fault, I wish I had been educated about how common it is for animals to ingest this specific, as I would have been much more careful. I also wish I had not been prescribed an unnecessary medication. Most importantly, I wish my concerns had been heard the first time and that I received antibiotics when I asked- I probably could have avoided this situation entirely. Although the staff were friendly, I had a terrible experience and will not be returning to this clinic. I felt unheard and misinformed, which is the last thing I want to feel when it comes to my animals. read more

Let me preface this by saying that everything went wrong from day 1. Dr. Lopez called in sick on my scheduled appointment date but the facility didn't notify me so I went to an appointment for nothing. It was for urgent shots for travel so they rescheduled me to the midtown location a day later, that went fine. My cat got his rabies shot in time. Then, my next appointment, that was carefully scheduled exactly 10 days before my flight, was cancelled due to Dr. Witter (apologies if spelling is wrong) having a medical emergency. She was pregnant, so I wished her well but was obviously very stressed out about being rescheduled back to the UES facility with Dr. Lopez the next day, 9 days before my flight. They did give me an early appointment at 8:30am which was a little reassuring. I showed up the next day, spoke with Steven (again, apologies if spelling is incorrect) who walked me through all the steps in detail, verified my flight information, country specifix requirements, weighed and checked out my cat and he was gentle so my cat didn't try to claw anyone's eyes out (if a vet tech can handle my cat alone they are gold! Trust me!!!) Dr. Lopez then came in, remembered my cat from a visit months earlier, showed me the certificate details and assured me i'd have it by 5/28 at the latest. Holiday weekend meant i wouldn't get any updates until 5/27. That's when my OCD brain went on overdrive when I received a Fedex notification saying I had a delayed package. I reached out to the UES office and was told Dr. Lopez was off until the weekend and i'd get a call then. MY FLIGHT WAS SATURDAY. Total freakout mode activated, I demanded to speak to a manager. Within the same day I had an email from Dr. Lopez with a digital copy of the travel certificate and assurance I would receive the original the next day. I DID!!! So while the phone staff is really not great, the vet techs and doctors i've dealt with really are!! I could tell you stories where I had to text 7 different pictures of my cat's zits on a weekend and I got a response.. Dr. Lopez and her med staff are top notch! read more

Save your money and just go elsewhere. Took my 14 year old morkie to both locations in 1 week and spent $2K. They overcharge for everything--I even found billing errors for her meds and had to repetitively email and call to get compensated. Don't believe me? Call and ask for pricing at at any other veterinary clinic in Manhattan (Gramercy vet, small door vet, east Village vet). None charge more than 100 for exam fee--URvet charges 140. They even tried to charge exam fee on 2nd visit when she wasn't examined: just got X-rays based on exam earlier that week. There are plenty of other great vet clinics in the area that make recommendations to truly help your pet, not just for a profit. Stressful experience for me and my babe. read more

When you let the inmates run the asylum what you end up with is Urvet care! We realize we should have put this review up months ago however, we wanted to give them more opportunity to redeem themselves but that didn't happen. On a few occasions, my husband and I brought our four-legged child to Urvet care. We were hopeful that we would be forever clients. However, we soon became appalled at the reception and treatment that both we received. After the second or third visit to Urvet care, instead of being greeted by a warm and friendly receptionist we were greeted by an unfriendly individual who made us feel like we were a burden to the front desk staff. We were shown zero empathy for the issues at hand and waited forever, even though we had scheduled an appointment. After a long time, the Practice Manager came out and attempted to make excuses for the delays and the attitude of the receptionist. We told him that we could understand the delays, however, the attitude and treatment that we received from the receptionist was totally unacceptable under any circumstances. Finally, after being placed in an exam room, the exam was quick and haphazard. We kept having to remind the Vet and the Vet Tech of the reasons we were there because they didn't seem to be addressing the issue at hand! Ultimately, they misdiagnosed our little one's health issues, placed him on meds, and had us schedule a follow up appointment! They never discussed with us the charges for what they had done or were doing. Upon checking out we were presented with an exorbitant bill that we paid by credit card. Later that day we suddenly got a receipt for additional charges that they "claimed" they had forgotten. No call, no text, no email. Just an additional charge to our card for an exorbitant amount. Shortly after this situation happened, we realized that this practice wasn't run efficiently and that we should seek another Vet Practice where the front desk staff is properly trained and enjoys their work, the vet techs are more knowledgeable, and there is full disclosure about costs before services are rendered and there are No subsequent billings without discussion with the client. read more

The care that my dog got here in his last hours was unprecedented in quality and kindness. This dog's brother spent his last hours at Blue Pearl where everything was done horribly. Among other things, Blue Pearl prolonged his life for days to increase their bills, although I brought him in only do get oxygen; I.e., for hospice care. My boy was only at UR Vetcare for two regular vet visits since I switched from Bondvet. But, the exams he had here were thorough. Everyone on their staff that I dealt with was terrific. Was referred to URVet Care for a dental for my cat. She's an incredibly social cat with no medical issues ever. Every year I've ensured she gets a dental. Typically she is perfectly back to normal, after 2 hours after anesthesia. I brought her in at 8:30AM on Mon 1/ 8. The vet, Dr. Valenti, was not able to meet with me upon my arrival. Apparently he was 'too busy'. I was to leave my cat at the front desk; I recently had blood tests done, so they didn't need to do that. They asked me if I'd like the doctor to call me if there had to be any extractions. "Yes, call me prior to anything being done, please." Then I paid the $1,000 in advance as a down payment. I felt it was unusual that the vet didn't "have the time" to perform a basic evaluation with me. I'm a first-time client. Normally, a vet takes your cat's vitals in front of you and checks her mouth; then they can tell you what it looks like -- how many teeth he suspects will need to be extracted, even if it's an estimate. I've done this every year with my cats of 17 years, my cat of 15 years and Luna who is now about 10. But not here. The vets don't care to met with a first-time client or show you they care about your cat. At around 11:45AM, Dr. Valenti called me. I was told Luna needed 5 extractions. I thought that was a lot. "Not a big deal" he tells me and goes on to explain that 'the teeth are already loose' and 'they are not important teeth' and 'she is probably already in pain so taking them out is not going to be a problem at all'... and then adds that only one tooth actually has to be extracted with a little more effort. But again, she is handling everything like a champ, is having no problem under anesthesia. He tells me it's going so well, and I can pick her up at 5PM. When I do get there, Dr. Valenti is again, MIA. Nowhere to be seen, nor does he bother to go over medication with me (an assistant does that.) And for this privilege of NEVER meeting the vet, because he does not deem it important or even courteous to speak or meet with me, I get to pay over $2,200 for this service. WOW. Is this a veterinarian practice that's supposed to be compassionate? A vet whose inclination is NOT to say hello; to say 'hey, let me run you through the meds' or 'It's so nice to have had you referred to us." Nope. Nothing. But the bill? Yep, they're happy to charge me $2,200+ for this service and say goodbye to you and call themselves 'the future of veterinarian care.' If this is the future, take me back to the past. This isn't even the worst part. I get home and my Luna is in bad shape. When I say she is in bad shape, she is comatose. She is sitting, looking at a wall, and not responding to me. This is NOT my cat. Did they lobotomize my cat? What the heck is going on? I wait a few hours, feed her and I assume that perhaps they gave her a little too much anesthesia and she needs more time. But the entire evening passes and it's the same. She sat up the entire evening. At 8:30 the next morning, I called UR Vet and asked to speak with Dr. Valenti. I tell the front desk what's going on. This has NEVER happened before. It's been an entire evening. How much anesthesia did they administer? What happened in there? I need to speak with the doctor immediately. "Dr. Valenti isn't in. He isn't coming in until IPM." That's what I'm told. "Can you text him to call me?" I'm upset. In fact, I'm a pretty hysterical client of a pet who isn't well after a procedure they administered. The front desk tells me he will call me when he comes in at 1PM. That's it. Dr. Valenti NEVER called me. NOT ALL DAY. And my cat was still not herself that entire day. She finally laid down but was not social, not happy and in a lobotomized state. BTW, what vet practice doesn't follow up after a dental? I've always received follow up calls. Nope, not at UR Vet. After they get their money, they are done with you. I filled out a form note and note I would call them out on social media for the worst experience I've ever had. Only after that, did I get a call that evening from the owner, Amy. I got a song and dance about how committed they are to creating a special place for animals. How they have animals. How this was a terrible situation for me and my cat. And what did I get? Her apology. Her promise that it won't happen to someone else. Her assurance that she's taking care of it in her office. She says I can bring my cat in for them to look at. I tell her she must me kidding. Am I going to bring my cat in to the place that traumatized her? No thank-you. What else can she offer me? Just words. The promise that they care so much. For the premium they charge you, at $2,200, I think she could've done a lot better. This is not what one calls goodwill. This is not one calls good service. What are you going to do FOR ME? I've run a company. And even if it were not anyone's fault per se... even if something just went wrong and my cat and I had a terrible experience. DEFINITELY GO ELSEWHERE! read more

I made an emergency appointment here for my cat Peach who was very sick and suffering, and needed to make the hard but human decision to give him peaceful rest. The doctor and entire staff were very comforting and empathetic, they made sure i had enough time to be with my pet and say goodbye, and that he and i were both comfortable during the process. They made the experience as painless as it possibly could have been. They even lit a candle in the front to signal someone was in mourning, and let me choose multiple options for how i'd like to memorialize my cat. I had the best experience one could have putting their pet to rest. And the office itself is beautifully done and aesthetically pleasing. read more

Not sure which is more concerning the fact that our dog got grossly misdiagnosed during our visit or the fact that we haven't heard back from the facility upon our detailed email report describing such a major malpractice. Presenting cough as a main complain we were referred to a cardiologist for bunch of unnecessary tests; we were advised that the cough was related to a very advanced grade 4/6 heart murmur (majority of cavaliers pass away from heart issues). Hurrying to see the cardiologist at the hospital we were surprised to hear that our dogs heart is fine while the cough is the "text book definition" of a most common virus known as kennel cough. During our cardiology consultation we were advised that the sound of our dog's coughing is very different from the one triggered by heart conditions; we were also advised that while dogs may cough due to many reasons, the kind of cough our dog displays (with the distinctive gag at the end!) is a 'textbook definition' of kennel cough. Great stress induced by making us believe that our senior dog suffers from a serious heart condition and expenses related to hospital visit and unnecessary tests performed by a cardiologist all were due to such unprofessional services provided by your business. While it is our expectation that URVET reimburses us for all the 'unnecessary' tests and services we have encountered during the week of 11/27-12/02, sadly there is no 'reimbursement' for all the stress induced by simply making us believe that our cavalier may be ending his life soon due to such advanced stage of heart disease. To say that we are unhappy with our URVET experience is a massive understatement. We feel that we made the wrong decision to seek care from URVET - a new business with no credibility. read more

I am so grateful to have found URvet Care! What an amazing, caring group of professionals! While trimming my pup's fur, I accidentally snipped her tongue. I couldn't stop the bleeding and wrapped her up while looking for the closest ER online. Luckily, URvet Care was a few blocks away. As soon as I walked in, the staff immediately went to work. One took my bleeding dog to evaluate her while another took her information from me; no waiting, no hesitation. The doctor came to explain what she observed and lay out the options for me in great detail. I was given the opportunity to ask questions and never felt rushed or pushed. This was exactly the way someone hopes to be treated in a medical emergency. Sitting out in the waiting room I then noticed how beautiful the waiting room is. Everything was spotless and state of the art. The coffee maker was a huge plus during my wait. The front desk staff, the technicians, Dr. Buddendorf and Aimee Stoopler, the owner, were all wonderful towards my dog and me. We both felt taken care of which was a huge help. Went to Urvet with my 14 month old puppy with eye issues as well as irritated breast. Appointment was almost like a walk in. When I contacted them they were so accommodating and asked me to bring my baby in. When you walk in the warm colors of the decor is lovely. You are immediately surrounded with warmth. Front desk was friendly and warm welcoming. Iraj fiest examined my baby and took information. She was so friendly with my baby. We were out at ease. During the entire exam I was able to stay with my puppy. The exam table is soft padded, big, clean. There enough space for my baby to move around while waiting for the medical team. They had delicious and good quality treats in reaching distance to minimize any kind anxiety everything seemed to be well thought and planned. Dr. Lampe spent almost an hour with us listened and answered all questions had great suggestions as my puppy in just few days started feeling well. I am veey hapoy with the care we received.
