The lines weren't incredibly long here, but I got this air of "this is always how it's been done, and this is how it will continue to be done." Been tracking two packages, one which has been "delivered" for a week now, the other is "delivered" today. I waited in line, asked the teller if she could check the back for me, she told me that "delivered" means it is simply in the building and that I should come back at a later time.. My tracking says for one, delivered to AV Post Office, and the second is "delivered" Now, "delivered" means it's ready for pickup in my mind. She couldn't clear up whatever misunderstanding there might be but shooed me away instead. Doesn't apply to all employees at this post office, but some are simply unprofessional. read more

I'd give zero if I could. Two counter clerks, three if you're lucky; they saunter about at whatever pace they choose; they would rather have protracted conversations with elderly customers than move at a reasonable pace and demonstrate a sense of urgency. Totally unacceptable. read more

I seriously cannot stand getting my mail at 7pm+. I'll get an email saying its out for delivery at 7am but for some unknown reason I won't see my package until 7-8pm?? Why does it take 11-12 hours to deliver a package? Ridiculous. read more

I'm giving the post office in Apple Valley one star, and that star is for a couple of the employees who have always been kind and helpful. This review is for the "supervisor" called Jackie. I went in there today, to retrieve my mail, and to renew my PO Box, which I've had there just shy of TWENTY YEARS. I'm recovering from surgery, and I've been slow in getting things done, or caught up on a whole lot. Upon going to the counter, my PO box was brought up on the computer. I was less than a day late paying the bill, and they wanted to charge my an additional $22.00 as a "service fee." I wasn't even 6 business hours over their "10 day grace period" which expired May 10th. I was told I could ask the supervisor to waive the fee if I had a valid reason. After waiting...Jackie appeared at the counter. I told "Jackie" that I'd gotten in as quickly as I could...explained that I'd had knee surgery, etc. (Other employees there were aware of this, as they've seen me come over the past year, hobbling around with a knee brace on.) She stated she'd need "proof" that I'd had surgery. I stated that I had my temporary handicap placard. Jackie said that wouldn't work. I asked her what was needed. Jackie stated that she needed something that proved I'd had surgery. OK...light bulb went off. I could do that! I had a copy of my surgical report in PDF form on my phone. Perfect. I went back up to the counter (after waiting all over again) and gave her my phone. (My knee is killing me at this point) She looked at the report. Jackie then stated that my surgery was "too far back," and again, I explained that i was out of the area (400 miles away, which the surgical report clearly shows)...and have been recovering since the date of my surgery. THEN...Jackie told me she'd need something that showed I was not in the area until MAY. It's only May 11th. She said to bring in a bill, or something else to "prove" my claim. I stated that I've been undergoing physical therapy/rehab since my surgical date. (and as we all know, medical bills sometimes take MONTHS to show up-if not sent directly to your insurance company.) At this point, I lost it. I was not nice, I was no longer understanding, and as of today, I got myself a PO box at another post office...it's a mile or two further from home, but so what. Interesting note: When I mentioned which post office I was going to, a (younger) employee behind the counter says "there's only four people working there" (I guess that's supposed to indicate that Apple Valley post office is somehow "superior" to the post office in Lucerne Valley?) After the way I was treated today, I wouldn't care if it was a single employee, as long as they have a beating heart. I replied that "I really don't care. Perhaps someday she'll have knee surgery, let's see how fast she recovers, I've been a customer here (AV post office) for 20 years and she treats me like this?? She can kiss my a**!" and I walked out. I really feel badly for some of the other employees there...who are really friendly and helpful, especially if that's what they're stuck putting up with. Their initials are L and S. The one star I left...is for the two of you. I'll never walk in there again, so I'll thank both of you here, for treating me like a valued customer for the past 20 years. Hope it was worth the $22.00 Jackie, as a business owner that spends a lot of money with USPS shipping packages, you should consider that it's people like ME who pay your salary in the first place! I am also forwarding this complaint to the Postmaster in Apple Valley, as well as the Postmaster General. I'm also switching to UPS and or FedEx. Will it cost me more? Yes, it will, but at least my hard-earned money won't be paying her salary any longer. Update: Interesting. Apple Valley Post Office po box rental rates are up to $54.00 per 6 months. I have never been treated so badly in my life then by the supervisor on shift yesterday at the Apple Valley location. I am a small business owner and was humiliated when I was in line to mail several packages to customers. The supervisor (so she says) came out from behind the counter grab my packages and told me I am no longer allowed to use the free post office boxes and she refused to take my packages that were ready to ship and to do my shipping and I would need to start purchasing the post office boxes for sale. Now my packages will be arriving late bc I had to mail them at the ups store. When I asked her the reason she said I don't leave enough boxes for the others When I only take 3 to 4 boxes at a time and I pay the shipping. I am canceling my box and going to the UPS store where they are a little bit more professional. I cannot believe I was treated that way after doing business there for over two years living in California. I wish I got the "supervisors" name. If I could give zero stars I would. read more

Ugh. Our community mailbox was vandalized. Not the fault of the post office. But while we waited for the repairs, we needed to drive over to pick up our mail. Understandable. But oh boy, the staff is so bad. They will regularly walk away from the counter with no explanation. Sometimes they'll come back. Sometimes not, at least not while I waited. I got in line, waited to the front, then was told I couldn't pick up my mail in that line. I asked if there was any sign up anywhere to let people know that. Nope. Very long line with only 2 windows open. I just need to pick up my package, and it takes over 20 min to get to front of line. Many customers are sending packages, and it takes really long time to finish all questions. You should open another window for pick up and other quick questions. read more

I think anyone who gives this post office more that 1 star has a friend or family member working there. They did not deliver my package of pain medication again, however I did get a smaller package that fit in my mailbox. yesterday was a cooler day so I don't understand it. On the "Informed Delivery" it still states that my package will be delivered tomorrow. So I called and the automated voice said that it is ready to pick up or I can reschedule a delivery. How was I supposed to know that? Nothing was left in my box to tell me that. I am disabled, and they want me to drive over there and wait in line for who knows how long? I hate this post office. The Apple Valley Postal service is the absolute worst facility for many reasons, for example; My family has a business that receives packages almost daily and my postal delivery worker hardly ever actually gets out of the carrier van to hand deliver my packages, they usually just leave a pick up slip in my mail box; well having to go to the post office to receive my package when i had paid for it to be DELIVERED is a hassle in itself but to make things worse they withheld my package because my personal ID address does not match the package address (business) When I explained that the package had a business address and that my ID is my home address they just would not listen. My mail has not come for 3 days now very odd and when it does its after 7pm and I always get my neighbors mail or vice versa I can not support that they need help or bailed out any more its not a very hard job to be done on time and read numbers correctly and inside is a joke they act like the dmv if you dont like your job or cant pretend to be nice to customers find a new one read more

If I could give zero stars I would. This post office used to be on it but not anymore. My packages will show delivered but then it takes them no less than three days to get it in my PO Box. A few months ago I had a big package delivered, I was told to pull around to the dock. Well the employees standing on the deck said nothing, just kept talking. When I asked if someone could help me load the package I was told that everyone win the post office were on light duty and could not life packages. They expected me to go up on their dock and load it by myself into my truck. After she told me that her and the other employee disappeared. No let me see if I can find help etc. There just happened to be a man on the deck from another company who was delivering and picking up, he wasn't associated with the post office. So..... I stopped by again to pick up a package. An employee is taping a sign on a door, a door used prior to pick up packages. As she taped the sign, there is absolutely no pride... the sign is extremely crooked and of course she was happy with the placement of the sign. A male employee was standing next to her asking for the slips issued by the post office to pick up packages and telling customers to go to the service counter to get the packages. He was professional about it. The female employee began yelling and with a condescending voice telling customers not to wait in the lobby and never to do that!! I yelled back, " How are we supposed to know what you guys want since the procedure had changed at least twice!" I then waved my hand at her and reminded her that I was a customer and to put her condescending words and attitude in her back pocket because I didn't want to hear it!" I absolutely hate this place! I'm about ready to retire from my 31 year career if public service and I'm about ready to go get a job there so the place can get cleaned up. This place SUCKS!! I love this place the wait is never too long like other offices in the area. Every time I see the female supervisor with long hair she is so on top of the line and running the office like a well oiled machine. The sales people are knowledgeable and nice. I live on a corner lot and have had my mailbox on Tao Rd for over 30 years. Now they want me to move my mailbox to the other corner and change my address. So where do I begin....I would have to notify IRS, all utilities, banks, my mortgage company, social security and all my insurance, and title policies on this house would have to be updated. My credit report would have another address added to my FICO score and all bank accounts would need New checks, new mailing labels, and this is what I have thought about since getting this notice 6 hours ago that they aren't going to deliver mail ? So I went out to the street and took a picture of all the other residences that have mail boxes on my street; and our mailbox is set back about twenty inches farther back. In other words my neighbors boxes are closer to the road. So maybe they want my box closer to the road, but NO, they want it REMOVED and put on Munsee. Again, we have lived here 30 years and are willing to move the box closer to the road like ALL of our neighbors. Next I will go to the post office and request a hearing. If I don't get that, then I will talk to an attorney for an exception if possible.. read more

They NEVER answer their phone. I called a different PO to see if they could get through to them, when I was advised that they have the same problem. He said that the Apple Valley PO never answers their phones and that the only way they can get a hold of someone over there is to call someones cell phone. You have NO choice but to take time off work and physically go down there and stand in line to ask a question. This is ridiculous!!!! I just wanted to say that I have the best Mailman ever. His name is Jay Simiens and he works for the U.S postal services. He has been my mailman for a few years now and I have always wanted to acknowledge his services but has never gotten around to it. He is extremely friendly and if he sees me he always delivers my mail to my hand instead of the box. When I am not home and I have packages, he hides them behind my pillar on my front porch instead of leaving it at the front door in plain sight preventing package theft. He is extremely friendly and always has a smile on his face. You can tell he loves his job and his positive attitude is contagious! I am extremely lucky I have such a trusting mailman. I've heard horrible stories of mailman that have been rude and just throw packages at doorsteps or yards and he is far from comparison. I am extremely happy with his services and his hard work and dedication should be acknowledged. Thank you Jay Simiens for always going above and beyond! Keep being awesome! read more

The staff in this post office are very rude and unhelpful. I would rather use UPS to ship a package. I have never met staff as rude as the members in this establishment. They obviously do not care about their jobs, or the customers. If you have a question about a shipping box, they will be happy to not answer you. Also, the line is usually long. There are more tellers that stand around when they could be at a register "assisting" someone, thus keeping the line to a minimum. But oh wait, that would take effort on their part. read more

POST OFFICE Delivers my mail to the wrong street, same street number, but wrong street name ALL THE TIME!! They know about it, they don't care. I call, tell them, they look it up and say "oh I'll ask the carrier". I have to get in my car and drive to the other street and get my mail out of their box all the time! If I don't... that house will keep my mail, (has happened before). Post office tells me I'm breaking the law by taking my mail out of their box. I tell them, it has my name and my address on it and this belongs to me. They told me they are going to call the authorities on me for getting my mail! They have a new post master every month!
