This post office has such a bad delivery service that the mail get lost or placed in the wrong box, this is a problem that has been the constant for the past few years (at least 4). I have spoken to 2 supervisors (or at least they were impersonators at the half door of that office) and they have done nothing, nothing at all, I have been doing polls on 3 blocks of Burbank Blvd west of Balboa, spoken to 120 plus tenants and the common denominator is missing mail, mail dropped in the wrong mail box, and the latest one is that some days they don't deliver the mail, is like they think: "is only 3 more buildings (hundreds of tennants) I'll do it tomorrow" and when tomorrow comes guess what? The mail was lost!. This post office needs either a new administrator or new mail carriers or both. On the research I did the problem is more accentuated on the half mile of apartment buildings on Burbank Blvd West of Balboa. As of this date I will give them 1 month to put this problem in control, after that I will escalate the issue to the district office on south central ave, planning on doing that in person, just for the fun after all I have nothing better to do, plus I'm piss because my wife lost a very important medical appointment that had to be postponed 2 months, due to lost or misplaced mail. read more

This office, like most of the so-called public-private travesties we call "businesses" today, is the most incompetent, never-deliver anything to an apartment or condo bc their excuse is that they rang the downstairs buzzer. I've told them a thousand times: this condo has one telephone that rings, my roommate's. It rings a thousand times a day. I'm not going to run to her phone to see if it is the all-hallowed Post person, on an all-day mission, to get my delivery. Especially since I have no way of knowing what day any package might get here. I am not a slave of the postal service. They are supposed to be serving me, the consumer, who long ago lost my rights. All of the paid services like UPS, FedEx and DHS are better than USPS. They manage to get the packages to us, unlike USPS who then expect us to run to the very overloaded, half-hour wait line at a minimum, post office, to get our mail. Half the time, they've lost the packages even if I were to bother doing that any more. I try to get all merchants to use any other delivery service than USPS bc it's always a hassle. I just ordered something as mundane as bubble bath. It's not the Hope Diamond. Do you think they would bother to come in and come upstairs? Of course not. They complain that they are too busy. They have keys to get into all buildings bc they deliver the mail. But they don't want to bother coming upstairs and leaving it by the door like everyone else does, even though I have given written instructions to do so at all times. Of course not. Because that would be serving the customer instead of catering to the needs of the overburdened USPS delivery service, who still think they are civil servants and can act like divas. This is an update to my review about lost checks , tons of mail going to my neighbors mailboxes that CLEARLY does not belong to them....Well my LATEST missing check for my rent was delivered to another person living in this building... He JUST returned it to landlord. Too little too late. I have to WAIT for stop payment ck funds to be refunded, Left message with Chris for Alfonso who again never returned call. I do not have the ability to even SPEAK to . I JUST saw my letter carrier " Q" and tried to show him the letter HE wrongly delivered to another unit. I was polite. He was dismissive, told me it could habe been someone else . WE DO NOT WANT TO HEAR THAT. We want HIM to take responsibility for LOOKING at the unit numbers on the envelopes and placing those envelopes in the CORRECT MB. Once again " Q " was very defensive once i told him it was He who delivered it and BUT FOR AN HONEST NEIGHBOR.... . Cmon USPS... FIX THIS SITUATION. Give him less routes if he is overworked and tired. Pay him more . Do whatever you must do to provide a Service WE pay for. And put them through proper training . I had witnesses. I was polite. He was defensive and rude just like he was last week. Again ... i will update this to something positive IF we go a couple weeks with no issues of missing mail. I promise . What are we paying for if they are too tired to read a unit number . This NEVER HAPPENED with our previous mail carrier. Now I owe next months rent and am in overdraft till the stop payment gets reimbursed to my acct. These " Mistakes" have REAL LIFE CONSEQUENCES FOR US ALL. The postman that runs the Newcastle Ave. has issues bringing large objects to a customers door. Instead this Lazy Gem leaves a notice in your mail box never even attempting to bring you the large package to your door. I leave notes on my door for this guy to leave the packages at the doorstep. The notices he leaves are never at my door, it's pretty obvious. Isn't tampering with mail a federal offense? The office does not answer their phones, it doesn't matter how much you call they will not answer. And their solution for their carriers are very slim they are just as helpless at the branch. This "Criss" guy says the reason why he won't drop off the package to my door is because he will be late on other deliveries. .... Think about that for a sec !!! ... I feel compelled to stick up for SOME of the people who work here. Christine is an angel and is helpful to a fault. Some of the younger guys are also very nice, moving fast and behaving well. In general, you get what you give to clerks in any retail business: flash a smile and get one back or start your transaction by crying about how you got screwed and get silence and indifference--your choice. Some of the criticisms here on yelp are fair, though, especially those directed at management and a few of the other long-time employees, who seem to alienate all those with whom they interact by virtue of what can only be called an abrasive personality and/or a civil servant mentality. Please find me ONE branch that doesn't have some of that. Most of the frustrations are not unique to this or any other post office and it's unfair to rate THIS BRANCH because the USPS as a whole does not have their act together to serve the modern market, which is much more about packages than it is about letters, as it once was. You want UPS? Go to UPS. Go. And PAY for UPS, which is a lot more expensive than the USPS in most instances. One truly CRAZY criticism I've read here is patently false--a LIE. Parking is abundant. And as for you people who cried because nobody answers the phone...I'll bet most of you are the kind who vote for politicians that promise tax cuts and then can't understand why services suck. This is one of the slowest Post Offices I have ever used. The lines are always long. It is hit and miss with the employees; some are friendly and some just want to help you and get out of there. The parking lot is always crowded and it is hard to find a spot. read more

***There are no notary services available here.*** I looked online for a notary public nearby and yelp said this branch offered notary services, but it did not. This is my local post office. During the holidays, the line is long, but on a normal day, it's not bad. The Asian man and woman are pretty friendly, but the other postal workers are hit or miss. I moved to this neighborhood about 5 months ago. Only recently had to go to the post office for the first time. What a pleasant surprise! No problem parking. Minimal to no lines inside. The postal workers all were incredibly pleasant and friendly. Twice I needed special help from the manager. Couldn't be nicer. Bent over backwards to make everything right. I had a really great experience here when mailing out my wedding invitations. The clerk really helped me out and took the time to do all of my transactions including weighing the envelope and calculating all the stamps I needed. I didn't feel rushed at all. If you're mailing out a mass quantity of special mail such as wedding invitations, go here! One of the best things about this post office is that both times I went it wasn't busy AT ALL. I relocated and now live 75 miles away from the Encino Post Office on WhiteOak. So I come to pick up my mail only once a month. And I've had most mail forwarded, so receive her very little mail in a very large box, which cost quite a bit. - So yesterday there was a little tan notice of "Sorry we missed you, letter non-delivery." None of the boxes were checked to tell me Why (was a signature required?), What (I needed to do), or Who (it was from)? Sometimes I've actually received "registered letters" that were actually throw-away trash mail attempting to make it seem important. I simply can not travel round-trip of 150 miles, through traffic to and wait in line to solve the mystery "letter." So I phoned them to inquire as to WHY it wasn't delivered, if it needed a signature, etc. They insisted they couldn't tell me any of the information - "because of privacy!" Really?! I'm holding the darned notice in my hand that I got out of a locked box with my key. And you're telling me I have to come and stand in line to get answers to very simple questions that should have been checked off but weren't on the "non delivery notice!" I told her to just return the letter to sender. That's just inexcusably bad behavior to not fill-out the REQUIRED information on the notice - and then refuse to give it to me on the phone. read more

First off, they don't open until 10am ...and if you're there early the side door/window people are rude af. The parcel drop was jammed and the workers were blatantly ignoring me ringing the bell..would make eye contact and go somewhere else and then finally a lady comes up and says you're going to have to wait for the doors to open...I told her I was only trying to drop prepaid packages off and the parcel drop was stuck and with a horrible attitude says "okay well I'll unstuck it for you" and slams the door shut in my face. The lady behind me called her some names which I wouldn't disagree with. Oh and if you are here after 10 when they open they're so slow and always have a huge line that takes 45 minutes to be seen. read more

I read all of the reviews on here before I started writing my own just to see if anybody else had ever experienced problems with the customer service at this post office before. And surprise, surprise, almost every single person who has written a review on here has had complaints about it. I myself was left with a terrible impression of the service (or lack thereof) when I'd been calling them throughout the day since 10 a.m. and having each phone call be ignored. Not once did anyone pick up the phone. I only had a few simple questions for them about an extremely important package for work that I expected to have by now that failed to arrive at my house yesterday, even though it said online that it had been delivered at 10:45 that morning. I thought maybe it might have been stolen after its delivery so I checked the security camera outside of the gate at my house to see if somebody had taken it. Nope. I went on the UPS website and filled out a customer service form, but they've yet to get back to me despite its urgency. I decided to call the post office directly to find out what happened and to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. But the phone just rings... and rings.... and rings... until the sound becomes so annoying, you have to hang up. This post office doesn't have an answering machine, all it does is continuously ring, so leaving a message is not an option. I'm thinking oh my god, at least pick up the phone, put me on hold or something, play that shitty "be patient for 30 minutes until we can get to you and help you with something that is probably stupid and can be resolved in two seconds" music, at least assure me that the place is not deserted and that maybe somebody will try and help me. Do I have to physically go to the actual building to get some help with this? Or are they going to ignore me there, too? I've heard the employees are jerks so I wouldn't be surprised if they did. I am exasperated, clearly . . . I mean I just wrote out this long review about a post office not picking up their phone. Marty, is the shadiest, rudest and the most extremely unpleasant postal clerk I have ever dealt with. When I approached his counter he forcefully and repeatedly asked me "WHY ARE YOU MAILING THIS?" (I think what he meant to say was 'how quickly do you need this to be sent' or 'do you need insurance' but moronically worded it) to which I replied "Because it needs to be THERE not HERE." I am an avid seller on eBay and I do not need an intro tutorial on postal rates and services- I KNOW what I want. He then proceeded to treat me like an idiot because I preferred Priority Mail International over regular Air Mail- there's a $32 difference but Air Mail offers no insurance protection or tracking- which is essential to my buyer and it's what she intentionally paid extra for! Why did I even need to go over this!? I was absolutely floored when he asked me if I had sold it through eBay and to tell him EXACTLY what I had sold and EXACTLY what the item title was. WTF? I already told him that it wasn't a restricted item, so why does it matter EXACTLY who manufactured it or what color/size it is, etc.? Sounds like a potential theft! I stupidly went ahead with the shipment, even though I knew there was a risk allowing Marty to handle it. I was pressed for time. And yes, now I'm kind of regretting it. I can't say much about the other employees, but Marty's unprofessional behavior is enough to keep me away from this location from now on. read more

Horrible customer service. I have a small business that requires me to drop off packages at the post office every day. Every time I come to this location to do drop off, its like pulling teeth. The ladies that work in the counter are the most unfriendly, rudest human beings in the planet. I buy tracking for my packages since its a business, it needs to be tracked. I've had problems where my packages did not get scanned at receipt. I asked this tall lanky lady with shoulder length dark hair with glasses, if they should track packages as they receive since we paid extra for that, she said no we do not have to, Sometimes we scan it sometimes we dont, and she said it so smugly!! what horrible service. Also this lady with longish blond hair who is there everyday is horrible as well! I cant believe our tax money goes into paying this bunch of lazy slobs. Not going here ever again. read more

I'm surprised to see such good reviews!! I was there yesterday around 430:pm and the line was as slow as a turtle! The staff were taking their sweet time with few minutes delay between customers. The people on line were all getting annoyed. The older man who helped me (Marty) was quick to be rude and wasn't pleasant at all! I never worked for the post office and don't know all the differences between express and priority mail. Doesn't mean I'm stupid!! My first time here, terrible experience, I do not recommend dealing with Christine if you're a female. I came into this post office after being told my Amazon package was waiting here since they had trouble delivering it to my building. They were not busy, and I just wanted to simply pick up my package. Christine happened to be the next person available to help me .. I explain to her that I was told by Amazon and an email that my package was waiting to be picked up and I gave her my name. She proceeds to stare at me blankly with a confused look on her face. I then ask her if she needed more information from me to see if my package was here.. Again, looking at me confused.. She finally asks me for the tracking number and my address. She goes to the back , comes back out without my package and proceeds to tell me I need to come back later. I asked her why? And she explained that the postman has my package and is out on deliveries. My response "oh great so is he going to deliver it to my house or do you know when he'll be back at the post office for me to come back and get it".. She then continues to stare at me, I finally ask her why she is confused? She says she's not confused and goes and gets the manager (which I did not ask for).. She tells me to stand off to the side, as she's walking back up to her desk she tries to say under her breath (but loud enough for me to hear).. "Looks like we have a princess on our hands". And she says this to the next male customer behind me. THIS is the kind of people you have working in CUSTOMER SERVICE. Completely unacceptable! I did nothing to this woman except simply ask about my package. I did not come in there angry or with an attitude , I work in customer service myself. Absolutely no excuse for her behavior and calling me names. She judged me from the start for no reason at all, and was nasty to me.. Not helpful. Maybe she was having a bad day, but regardless .. This employee needs better training. Michael the manager witnessed her behavior and name calling (said he would take care of it)..and he simply told me my package would be delivered that day and it was. This is my local post office. If say I need to come here maybe once every two months. When I do, I never have any issues getting there and parking. It's a huge lot and building away from anything else - so no need to compete for space. It's always clean, and well stocked with all the paperwork and other items you might need. Never is a pen to be found lol, but the staff are helpful. They are actually pleasant and helpful. The only thing that hurts here is that they are understaffed. The wait is annoying, but it's become the norm. read more

For someone with a 9-5 schedule this post office are so inconvenient! Though they are open until 5:30, most post offices open at 8:30. Our mail carrier is too lazy to bring the packages to the door, they leave a slip to retrieve the package at the post office that I can never visit because the hours are terrible! read more

I don't understand why or how this post office got bad reviews. I come here daily and since day 1 everyone working here has been so nice! Friendliest post office and always helpful especially Charles! Literally everyone here is so nice. I often see really impatient people who can't wait in line for their turn and complain about everything. I honestly have to think they complain about everything in life. I feel so bad for the workers who have to deal with people like this on a daily basis, but they handle situations really well and are still really kind to people. I ship thousands of packages and every single one has always been scanned and shipped properly from this post office. Supervisor name Chris is not helpful at all. I simply asked if he can just hold my packages at the post office for me to pick up myself because they kept delivering it to the wrong address and he kept giving me the run around about having to ask the area supervisor. All the other supervisors had no issues doing that for me at all. But this guy Chris gave me all kinds of static about a simple request. So I waited a few days for this so called area supervisor to call but ended up getting a call from this Chris Clown and he leaves a message saying "no can do." TRUE: they don't answer the phone, AT ALL. I receive my neighbor's advertising, even tho name/address printed correctly. I am missing tax docs, date of death estate evaluations = really important stuff. My privacy is totally violated, my life open to the public, because my mail is "lost" (delivered to unknown destination!). I have complained for at least the past 3 years, told my address is "yellow-tagged", yet, no matter which supervisor I complain to, no matter who is the carrier (certainly this is more than 1 individual), the delivery is BAD. The attitude is also sub-zero. As if I have nothing better to do than call repeatedly, GO there (4.5 miles from home!- WHY?), WAIT to complain... this is my FIRST review because there's nothing else for me to do! I have nothing against the people here, the service or the general business. Lines may be long at times, but the person behind the counter has always been kind and helpful. My problem with the Encino post office is the upkeep of the property. Or the complete lack thereof. The landscaping now looks like a mess. Weeds are everywhere, the shrubs and bushes are growing wild, and homeless (and others) throw trash onto the property, knowing that the overgrown bushes will hide it. At least until I come along and clean it all up. The place reminds me of a slum, and every attempt to talk to the manager about this has been futile. My wish for the future is that the post office moves out, and that Trader Joe's takes over together with a Starbuck's Coffee.
