Super impressed with the new Postmaster Ruth Schwartz! Long story short I had a signature-required package delivered that I missed at home so I went in-person to the USPS in Folsom to pick it up right around the 30-day deadline. To my chagrin I was told the package had been returned to the sender. The next day the postmaster herself hand-delivered the package to my residence and explained that the package had been found in-between the bins. She could have just sent it out for re-delivery but she went above and beyond to help resolve my issue. read more

Hm. All of these negative reviews makes me want to scratch my head a bit. I have never had any issues with the employees. They always help in a timely manner whether its mailing something, picking up held mail for me, or whatever my post office needs are. They have an easy drive by letter drop off boxes with many pick up times and its conveniently located on Riley St. It does get HOT inside during warm days because of the glass ceiling, maybe that makes everyone more moody in here. Monopoly federal bureaucracy - they HATE the general public - and quite honestly it shows. If you have the gall to expect them to do their jobs, wait for the backlash. When questioned about anything from their lack of service to lack of courtesy they become even more hostile and agressive. Repeat experience tells me that different post offices can operate differently. This place is ruled by fear and anger. Try getting to speak to the imperial Postmaster. Not only will no calls be returned, but they will lie to your face about her availability or responsibility (and some of the staff seem genuinely afraid of seeking her out - while others are utterly aggressive) The rot (and lack of any accountability) in this branch clearly starts at the top. The worst post office, period. We've had countless bad experiences at this post office. The customer service is garbage, especially one guy who appears to be in a senior position. The line is usually really long because they are understaffed. Once we sent a package with time sensitive materials that needed to be delivered promptly, so we chose not to require a signature for delivery (didn't want the recipient to have to worry about missing it/risk not getting it that day even if they weren't home at delivery time). Someone at this post office physically altered the paperwork, changing it to "signature required". Needless to say it was a nightmare dealing with this, tracking down the package, calling the post office to get to the bottom of what happened. Nothing ever really came of it. Called the phone number listed for Folsom's post office to report a broken lock on one of their mail box 'lockers' (our package was inside). Started calling at 4:30pm (they close at 5pm) & continued re-calling for 20 minutes. The phone rang & rang and then would automatically hang up. Why have a phone number if NO ONE ANSWERS!! read more

This is where DMV employees go when they get fired. I can't believe how incompetent these people are! 4 years ago I asked for my mailbox slot in our community mailbox to be moved to a closer mailbox. The one ours is currently in is 150 yards away when there is a mailbox right across the street in front of my neighbors house that has many unused slots. They post master kept asking how I know there are unused spots. She couldn't comprehend that it was obvious they were unused since the lock were spray painted over and a key going in and out daily would easily rub the paint off. Plus there are simply not enough houses near it to occupy all the slots. She said she would get back to me when she has time because there were a lot of houses in "rural Folsom" who don't even have boxes. Where is rural Folsom? Typical USPS employee never got back to me. I went in today to mail an international package and I was told I would have to pay for Priority since the box I reused had old priority tape on it even though I already crossed out everywhere it said "Priority". That wasn't enough for them, they said it would be too confusing for their employees. I don't understand how it would be confusing if I don't pay for priority and the postage doesn't say priority. He wanted me to go home and wrap it in a paper grocery bag which would just add weight and add to the postage. I am really not a fan of this post office... There is ALWAYS a huge line and only 2 or so workers. The customer service office line is very long as well. I find coming to this location and place to best be described as a madhouse. I recently went and it felt as if they weren't running the AC and so waiting in line was more miserable than normal. I advise visiting a different post office, especially if you come in a rush. Usually spend around 20-30 mins here each visit, which in my opinion is far too long. I usually just purchase the premade shipping labels and then just drop it off because it's WAYYY less of a hassle than waiting in the dreadful line... But on another note a nice way to spend your time efficiently could be to go here while your car is being washed next door at Glenn car wash (20 min process) so you kill two birds with one stone! Okay I have two issues with this branch. 1st. The main branch is the slowest and absolutely rudest post office I have ever been to. I am always some how in a line of about 8-10 people deep and the staff magically only has 2-3 people. They really should just fire everyone and start from scratch because everyone is short and rude. 2nd. The mail man that delivers to Creek Side is beyond incompetent. I literally can not deal with him because I have to bite my tongue at the stupidity. This man literally spends 6 hours servicing our property. And boy oh boy can you tell when its his day off... because the people who cover for him always are super friendly and actually do their job correctly. Out of all of the places I have worked this has got to be the worst mail man I have ever EVER had. Oh and not to mention package slips always end up in the wrong box!! If I could leave 1 star for this location I would, my experience with them has been absolutely terrible. They lost my package with merchandise inside that was worth $400 and they refuse to do anything about it. After they delivered my package to the wrong parcel locker, the proceeded to mark it as delivered. I had to file a claim online at USPS.com. They did not get back to me until the next day and all they said was, 'sorry.' They did not make any efforts to retrieve that package that they delivered to the wrong address (the address was correct on the shipping label) They then proceeded to change my claim as resolved on USPS website however they did nothing to fix the problem at all. It is obvious that one of my neighbors now has my package and USPS has done nothing to fix this issue. I had to go door to door (during a pandemic) and ask if any of them got it by mistake. The neighbors that I did speak with told me that this mail carrier does this all the time and they often get each others packages. I am holding USPS accountable for losing my package and delivering it to the incorrect address. read more

The service at this post office is the worst I've ever had at any post office--and that's saying something! We had our cluster mailbox broken into about six months ago and had to pick up our mail from the post office. The line was very long because a lot of boxes had been broken into lately (not the post office's fault) but they were very slow to help customers. It was taking up to 10 minutes per customer to get mail retrieved. Then they would just close the window and lock it for a long time--maybe to go on a break, we're not sure why, and just leave people standing there. Thankfully we didn't have to pick up mail too long that way. Cut to today--we've moved and I need to find out how to get the new key to our mailbox. I have been calling all morning and afternoon and getting nothing but a busy signal. I feel like I'm calling in to win a radio contest. I need to find out what to bring because I'd hate to wait in their long lines, get up to the counter and then not have all the info they need. It's just a huge waste of time, the employees are apathetic at best and rude at worst. If only we had other options. read more

I have to write this review mainly to thank them for helping me ship my books. I was moving from Folsom and wanted to ship 80lbs of books through media mail. I walked in with them packed in boxes, that weren't thick enough. I was initially flummoxed, but this lady explained how and why so patiently . I was convinced. Then she was kind enough to get thick printer paper boxes and pack those books for me. That was so thoughtful . Finally she helped us ship them ! She went out of her way and helped us ! Some red headed mail nazi makes me buy some tape to seal my package, ok frustrating but I can live with that. First try's to upsell me on delivery speed, when I say no thanks just media mail she starts asking questions about what I'm shipping. I tell her a comic book and she says can't do that. I explain it's a book, it has a hard cover and spine but the book is about comics. She's doesn't budge. This is one reason why so many hours and positions are being cut from the post office, people like her that take her job way to serious. The Post Office always gets a bad rap. I agree some of the staffing are not trained well in customer service and lose their way when it comes to common sense and helping the customer because of all the regulations they have to follow. But a lot of their incompetence is due to upper management's inability to make staffing changes because of the union, seniority or just plain bureaucracy. So, please give them a break once in awhile. There are good days and bad. The Post Office has been part of our history and American culture long before we were born. They are trying to stay afloat without making a profit. Even if they are not the best around there are a large percentage of employees who care about the customer and want to do better while their hands are tied to governmental rules and regulations. Kudos to Folsom Post Office and all their staff for being there to service our community! Without the Post Office, I believe our communities would lose an important component. Seriously?!!! I recently moved to a very nice neighborhood in folsom. The mailboxes are set up at one location. In the last 6 weeks I've received 3 different packages with the wrong address which I had to return and out of 4 items I bought and had shipped to my house, I only received 1!!! The other 3 show "shipped" per the company I ordered from but I got nothing. Seriously?!!! How hard is it to read a damn number and put the mail where it belongs?!!! Fire and rehire! Whoever is delivering the mail in folsom needs to switch to McDonalds or pan handle because matching two simple 3 digit numbers is obviously too hard! read more

So I had a package that said it was delivered to my mailbox, I checked it it was not their so I filed a case report. After 3 days of waiting they said the mailman delivered in the box, but he could have scanned it at that location and put in wrong box since their are many boxes.Mistakes happen! This location is clean and well kept. If you go in the middle of the day you usually don't wait too long. The parking can be a problem and I just never get great service. The service is good but nothing like at a business that needs to maintain you as a customer. This office does have a drive through mailbox which is really convenient and helpful. I also like the ATM (automated mailing machine.) It works really well. I was shocked. You would think you would hit a hundred hurdles trying to mail something with a machine but it works seamlessly. read more

I waited in line to inquire why I have zero mail in my PO Box for 5 days and was told by the Asian man " it's Xmas time we have packages and don't have time to do boxes". Just WOW! I wonder if my boss would allow me to use the "it's Xmas time" excuse not to work. I have filed a legal complaint against them for not only losing my mail, effecting my livelihood by not delivering mail to the PO Box I pay for but zero accountability when they lose mail by putting in wrong box. THEY SUCK. I have been sent around in circle trying to find what I'm able to ship something in without getting charged extra. I have even brought them the shipping label they had me something able to ship it than 2 weeks later I'll go in with the same thing and be told I can't ship it in this because it's wrong. I'm completely lost now on what I can ship stuff in with the first class shipping label. They need to train their employees more about this. Do not let the Asian man behind the counter help you with anything. He actually doesn't do his job. I am not from this area, but from yolo county. We just happened to be in the area for an event. I used this post office to mail in my property tax on the date it was due, and specifically told the Asian gentleman it was property tax, which needed the date stamp he chuckled and said ok, which I thought is weird at the time, but didn't think too much of it. Now 6 working days later, still the county have not received my letter!! All I can say is I've learned my lesson, will get registered mail next time instead of trusting some guy who works at the post office. Horrible passport service, I should say no service. Made appointment for my daughter's passport for 2/21/14 at 11:00am. Was told I have no appointment since they don't see my name and phone number in their books, mind you everything is written in pencil. Asked to speak with the supervisor who rudely argued with us instead of defusing the situation by making first available appointment. Now my daughter missed a day from High School, my husband working nights didn't get to sleep and passport app. was not filed all because of incompetent employees of this office. I had to return an item that I had purchased and it came with a return label. I put the package together with the return label. I got a call notifying me that they still had the package since that sender doesn't pay for returns like I thought. I asked them to hold it so I could come down and pay for the postage. When I got there the package had been opened so I asked if they could re-tape it for me so I could pay and send and they told me they are not allowed to tape a box but I could purchase tape there. Mind you it was a very small box and they still would not put one piece of tape on it. So, I had to bring the box back home to re-tape. I think this is absolutely ridiculous!!! read more

Just bad customer service. Went there to return an item I bought online. Had the box and prepaid postage from where I purchased the item. Agent told me it is in the wrong box. The agent removed my prepaid label from the box and I got the "correct" box. Got a different agent and I asked him for a piece of tape to put the label the other agent cut off on the new box. This agent said I could buy a roll of tape but he would not give me a piece. Really? It's not like I was asking him to tape up a huge box for shipping overseas. Your timings are so confusing. Online it says 9 Am when I went there it's written opens @ 10 Am. When I called to check the correct timing the voice Message said 9am. I waited outside for the store to open at 9 but guess what it was closed and there were more people like me all confused with the timing. Plz confirm ur correct timings. It's a federal government-run establishment. If ever a phrase summed it up better, I can't think of one. But, for those of you who don't know what that means, let me break it down for you. The employees are rarely excited to be there (they're postal workers after all, so why would they be happy). There is almost always a line here (no three's a crowd here). The busiest times of day (e.g., lunch time) when working people can actually make it to 9-5 establishment is also when these union employees take lunch. It is not uncommon to see only one or, (if they're in a generous mood) two people working the counter at lunch. In fact, I've seen the line be very long at lunch time and have an employee actually CLOSE up his spot so he could go to lunch. Only at a government run establishment. If a private business ran like that it would be out of business. If I were in charge, I'd eliminate the post office entirely. We'd save tons of money, save trees (and the environment--isn't that what the green people want), cut down on carbon emissions (less trucks driving around delivering junk mail), etc. We have e -mail and private companies who do package delivery. I live in a neighborhood with a cluster box set up and for months I have been unable to get packages out of the larger boxes when received as the keys don't work. I have left numerous notes for the carrier letting him know that it needs to be rekeyed but obviously too much work for him to do anything about it or even acknowledge the notes. Finally went down to the post office today to talk to someone about getting this corrected. First guy told me it was the owners responsibility - how the heck can I rekey federal property! It was obvious he didn't want to work too hard - heard him tell someone he was going to lunch right after talking to me so obvious where his priorities were! Good thing for some of these people they have government job security! Many people will say why 5 stars? Well when there's an issue with other Post Office Branches, the wonderful management team (Ruth Hellen Bill) will be there for you. They will call you after hours, they will drive to your house in a different stations service area, in short they are empathetic, kind, and willing to do what it takes to satisfy the customer, and aren't afraid to admit when the Post makes a mistake.
