I had a package that was supposed to have been delivered yesterday. The tracking information indicated that it was being held at the Brentwood station. After trying to figure out the location of the package on the phone with the Brentwood station this morning, I was left thinking it was lost. The lady helping me on the phone told me that it was actually on the delivery truck for delivery today. Tonight this parcel still had not been delivered. This was not completely the post office's fault since the seller of the package contents wrote the shipping instructions incorrectly. The post office was at fault, though, for telling me incorrect information. Trying to figure out what I'm going to do about it, I noticed I had a voicemail that I hadn't listened to from yesterday. Turns out it was the carrier responsible for my package that was contacting me (unrelated to everyone else I had already spoken with). The carrier, Tina, was calling to let me know it was at the Brentwood station. When she had called the day before I was unable to answer due to being at work. I called her back today and didn't receive an answer. A few moments later she calls me back and knows exactly what is going on with my package. Between her and Mary D. I was able resolve my issue. I also want to mention that Tina called me on her time off. I personally give her five stars, which is the only reason my review for the post office isn't one star. I appreciate how big of a heart she has and how much she actually seems to care about her job. I had ordered my passport and it was supposed to take 6-8 weeks to arrive. After 8 weeks, I followed up, and they provided me with tracking info. Turns out, it was mailed back in July. The tracking says "out for delivery", with no update after that. I sat on hold for an hour Tuesday trying to figure this out. They finally came back and said they did not know where it was and couldn't do anything about it. They took my number to call me back if it turned up. I received a call a little while ago, and thinking they may have found it, I ran them through the whole story again. They put me on hold. I've been on hold for 45 minutes... They called me, so not sure what on earth is going on any more. Side note - a few months back, my fiance had issues with this same post office. His driver's license took an extra 3 months to arrive! read more

Great! Came on a Saturday morning around 11:30am. Hardly anyone in there. Go to Marcus! He is great and knows what he is doing. Good customer service. I sent out a package that was going overseas and he helped me fill out the customs form and everything! Not everyone will do that or be knowledgeable of international mail. Was in and out pretty quick. I also had a money two money orders on desperate cards which he did seamlessly! Made my experience pleasant and stress free! Came here to pick up mail that should have been delivered. (They tried once and then didn't try again, even though I had requested it twice online). The guy working at the mail pick up window was extremely rude. He was not interested in helping me at all. He should know that people coming here to look for lost mail probably are upset and looking for help, not for a condescending attitude and a ripped off piece of paper with a general phone number to USPS written on it that any child could have googled. OBVIOUSLY I had called this number before multiple times, and had to wait 1 hr + to even speak to a real person. Thanks for not helping. Oh. If I could rate 0 stars I would. Two times, my package has been marked "delivered, individual picked up package at postal facility" . It's impossible to reach them via phone. I went in person and they said they're not allowed to deliver to my location and automatically send the package back to the sender. I asked, why did you guys mark deliver then? She responded "that's just what we do" EXCUSE ME ?? so then I asked if I could take it home since I'm there and she says "no we're not allowed to, we have to send it back" MAKES NO SENSE. This USPS is a pretty barebones and dated center that may do just enough to fulfill it's service but certainly doesn't go above and beyond. One thing to be aware of is the difference in opening hours vs mail pick up hours. Not sure if there is a good reason as to why they are different hours but saw multiple parties have to wait around just for them to open the door to mail pick up despite no one in the main office. This is where packages go to die. Third time in a row my package failed to deliver on time. "No access to delivery location" even though I have no guard gate, no locked front door, NO REASON AT ALL delivery couldn't happen, was home all day waiting specifically for my package. Each time I tried calling to track it down I dealt with incredibly frustrating automated phone calls for over 2 hours before I finally got a human being. Human beings at this post office are entirely unhelpful, the last lady I spoke with was rude and impatient (not like she had to wait 3 hours talking to a robot as I did). She told me my package would be redelivered two days ago, it wasn't. Now I see that my package is "available for pickup" at the post office before they send it back to the sender. Going to pick up my package today because they refuse to redeliver my package!! Good thing I paid for shipping on this! LOVE wasting an hour out of my day to do your jobs for you!!! Also, I know they can probably see all these terrible reviews. A good establishment would attempt to apologize for where they went wrong. Guess these guys know they suck and don't plan on changing anything. If you can, avoid having packages sent through this post office AT ALL COSTS. Since about 2018, the last two mail carriers (both women) I've had from this branch have been the worst I have ever had, anywhere in the country. Rude, lazy, tossing packages on the street, hostile stares when you wave and say "Hi" to them. This review is for the 200 S Barrington Ave Post Office. The people working the counters were fine, and I was able to find a parking space right away. The process was inefficient. Had an appointment for a passport renewal. First, this location DOES NOT handle passport photos, despite what the USPS appointment website states. We had to cross the street and have the photo done at a small packing/shipping company. Arrived 15 mins. early for the appointment, and had to stand in the normal line with others needing shipping/postage assistance. That took ten minutes after which one clerk verified I had the appropriate documents. I then sat for a while until a different clerk called me up to attest to the accuracy of the documents. Sat down again until a third clerk had me sign the doc and make payment. I have had to renew my passport previously and the post office had one person take my photo, review docs, and collect payment. Yup, a large portion of the lot is cordoned, off limits to postal customers and looks to be used as valet parking for nearby restos; extra, much needed revenue for them, USPS, not so great for us. Update: I already wrote this update and am not sure why it does not appear. I was sick so I could not come to the post office. I was being considerate due to the pandemic, national emergency and polio emergency. The post office inserted in my box a yellow paper with no date on it to pick up a package at the window. I came about less than two months after the date they inserted the yellow paper with no date on it. Upon my arrival at the window, Lori told me the date they inserted the yellow paper. She said they discarded my package, though they wrote no warning, a month after they inserted the undated yellow sheet. It was my COVID testing kit. These are ordered through USPS, which has a limit to how many can be ordered, and which I need regularly on the emergency front line. These are not entirely reimbursed for me. I said I had called and filed through their website many times about them repeatedly throwing away and losing my mail and the serious problems in my earlier review. I summarized how I had repeatedly been told that Brandon, the manager, was going to call me, but he never did, including during this time during which they threw away my COVID testing kits package. Lori asked me to write the file numbers so I started to. However, before I could finish, as soon as I said I said the only USPS response is that Kiana has left 2 voice mails stating I should have spoken up at the time this happened, even though I did and the complaint is even dated and time stamped minutes after this happened, Lori took the paper from me, said she would be right back and closed the window. I waited a long time, about almost an hour of entire waiting altogether. Then someone named Norma opened the window and asked me to write down my phone number. I said I was in the middle of writing two of the multiple file/complaint numbers, as requested by Lori, about them earlier discarding and losing my mail and had these numbers pulled up on my phone. I said I would finish writing the second number then would add my phone number. Norma raised her voice at me rudely saying she did not know what this was about though I had let Lori know that someone left their keys and keychain in their open PO Box with their sensitive mail visible inside and even showed her and taken a picture of it, in addition to speaking about them discarding my COVID testing kits package and following up on them throwing away and losing my mail, forcing the door shut on me during business hours and yelling continuously in the lobby. Since, on the date of the earlier incidents in my earlier review, the supervisor who said her name was Marlena Gibson had said Lori was new and did not know what she was saying so nothing she said should be relied upon, I had also asked for a supervisor to let her know about that someone had left their keys hanging from their open box, in addition to briefly following up on those incidents. Norma rudely announced to a gentleman there that I refused to write down my phone number though I never did, even as I wrote my number down since I had finished writing down the complaint numbers. Ms. Foster did not ever call as I was told, nor did any supervisor. Then, I ordered new COVID testing kits as soon as new ones were allowed to be ordered. I came within less than a month, as instructed by Lori, and was told these were discarded too because apparently USPS throws away packages after 2 weeks after inserting a yellow slip though no warning was ever given on the slip or otherwise. I asked to speak to a supervisor. This time a supervisor who said her name was Marlena Gibson though did not look at all like the earlier woman who said that was her name kindly retrieved my testing kits since they had not been thrown away after all. I appreciate that so the direction is getting better. However, had Ms. Foster called me as I was told, then this could have been avoided, and it is still chaos here. read more

Update: Now a week later I find out the clerk put the wrong labels on my packages. Both packages were hand addressed on the box itself, yet the clerk reversed the two shipping labels. Worst post office to get PASSPORTS processed here. There is a sign for passports line but when you get it in the staff tell you sit down and wait with no clear instructions. The staff just keep a mental note of the passport customers coming in but the problem is they do not process passports in the order in which people come. They process customers in the order they want to because there's no system. If you have any questions about your paperwork or anything, forget it, they will roll their eyes and then put you to back of line because they are annoyed. There were about a dozen passport customers in line and they were not processed in which they came and everybody was frustrated. We patiently waited until the postal god felt we were worthy to be next for processing. Go somewhere else! read more

I got an appointment last night for 1PM, and even though I was early, there was no line! And the woman running the passport desk, Lisa, is so nice and friendly. A-OK is just about right. No, they're not giving out coffee and donuts, but the last couple times I've been here have been good. Helpful staff, and you can help yourself with going at earlier hours, too. Tons of parking, plus working self-serve postage, and they open at 8:30am -- earlier than most. The mix of fellow customers waiting at the opening bell were a a cordial group. Everyone got what they wanted (as far as I could tell). Post Office duty is sometimes tough; this branch on Barrington helps take the hassle out. read more

I don't know if it's the entire entity of USPS or this particular branch that is completely incompetent, but I've had everything from a Christmas present that I mailed going mysteriously missing/unable to be delivered/never sent back to now dealing with months of my own packages being forwarded to a different address because my sister and I share the same initials??? She's called multiple times and have had her calls screened or been hung up on with no resolution. I've called and emailed multiple times and nothing has changed. I just spoke with a new customer service agent at the branch who will supposedly be taking care of this issue immediately. I'll post an update if it actually does happen. read more

there is something fundamentally very wrong at this location. First most of the employees are rude, they stock very few stamps and give incorrect information. I mail several 1-2 oz packages weekly...I know the correct postal rates, size limitations etc., but this branch takes two weeks plus to deliver mail under 10 miles!!!...and that's just when they do deliver it!!! In the past two weeks three different envelopes with products never did arrive...so I had to replace them after customer waited two weeks the first time for their deliveries. This is maddening...if I put three times the required postage on them and get tracking they usually arrive within a couple of days...though not always...this too can take awhile......Wish we could do a class action suit. read more

Just experienced the rudest mail carrier ever! The lady came pounding on the office door of my school. Because the school was closed and it was already 5pm, I didn't answer it. Found out the carrier left a big stack of mail outside and left. Caught her outside and I asked if she could not leave our mail outside as others could easily pick it up. She snapped back, "well no one answered the door!" I told her that's because the school is closed. You'll have to come earlier. She replied, "this isn't my normal area and I'm not going to change my route for you!" I told her well I'm asking you not to leave the school mail outside. She yelled, "I don't give a shit!" Update: The post office discarded my package. Lori said that, since it left a yellow slip in my P.O. box that the package did not fit in my box, it threw away my package once a month went by, even though it did not state any date to pick it up by. I tried to pick it up about less than 2 months later, This occurred after many calls, unfulfilled promises that the postmaster was going to call me, and resulting complaints filed about the earlier post office employee forcing the door closed, after I started to open it during business hours. For some reason, the post office did not put my package in a pick-up box expressly for picking up packages sent to PO Box holders and put the key to it in my PO box, as it used to. What is the point of paying so much money for a PO Box if I can't pick up my mail or packages and it discards months of my mail repeatedly? This discarded package incident occurred after I also received a letter from my bank stating that mail it had sent to me had ben returned to it. This is the third time in slightly over half a year, alone, that this post office alone has discarded or lost my mail, including two months of my mail right before last Thanksgiving. I left my name and number for the new postmaster to contact me about this and the earlier incidents though never heard back. I also attempted to notify a supervisor that another post office box customer had accidentally left their key in their box, with their box open, banking mail visible inside and other keys hanging rom their PO box box key. After I attempted this and tried to quickly follow up on the above, Lori asked me to write down the earlier complaint numbers then suddenly took back the paper I was writing on, said to wait and shut the door, Some time later, Norma suddenly appeared, spoke rudely to me then said, untruthfully, that I refused to write down my phone number. In my earlier review, there had not been space to include how, about a couple days before Thanksgiving, a postal employee used force to shut the door on me, after I had already started to open it with my hand still on the knob during business hours. She also was yelling for some time from all the way across the post office, calling me names including "cheapskate" after I spoke up after I realized the post office charged me credit card with unauthorized, duplicate post office charges. The post office also refused to give me a box key refund, as I returned that box key. I had expressly said not to and did not consent to these duplicate, unauthorized charges. That postal employee also was yelling after for some time on the phone on what appeared to be a personal phone call, also during business hours. Then as I asked, she apparently disclosed a false name, since Ray later said no postal employee with that name worked there. The response to these complaints came as Kiana left a voice mail about a couple months after each of two of the complaints. Each time, she stated I should have spoken up at the time. However, I did. I also have the date- and time-stamped complaint numbers I filed on the USPS site right after I left the post office. read more

I got a note at 8 pm that there is package with no name and we need to pick up any day from next day. In morning I tried to call them first to make sure they hold it but operator left me on hold and no one picked up phone in hour (didn't wait longer and hung up). Then i went there SAME DAY at 2 pm and they said package was sent back to sender!!! Why they even bother send a note to come pick up then if there is no chance to even try to do that? The post office itself is meh as per usual, with mind-numbingly slow lines. But if you want consistently terrible customer service (over the phone and with deliver), this is the place for you. I find myself having to call this place all the time because they can't deliver mail correctly! The lady who picks up phone calls is unhelpful, and won't even look at or explain the scanner data for you because "it's not available." This is total BS when I can see tracking number's information on my own computer screen! What's more, after she gets tired of you, she'll "transfer you to the manager" and put you in "on hold" forever. I have NEVER had anyone pick up after getting put "on hold" and suspect I never will. I've had three, THREE packages go missing after being "delivered," and have had extremely expensive packages with signature confirmation get signed for by "AA," whoever that is. Last time I checked, my apartment was not an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting place! It turns out that my mail carrier is just super lazy and signs my package for me before even delivering it! What is the point of a signature confirmation if your mail carrier signs it for you? Completely unprofessional and, in my opinion, totally fraudulent. read more
