I've been going here for over 10 yrs and they are wonderful. The postal workers are efficient and polite. Other than the staff, my favorite part about this location is the space and location. The space it a decent size and building is ALWAYS clean. One of the other great things about this location is that they are open until 6pm on weekdays and until 4pm on Saturdays. Most post office locations close at 5, and even though I don't live as close to this location anymore, I still end up coming here bc of their late hours. I can't imagine the Madison post office getting any good reviews. Having mail forwarded during the winter is impossible, they tell you the only way you're gonna see your mai is to pay them a weekly fee and even then the mail comes some weeks and not others. lt is an endless series of broken promises and mail that never gets delivered. read more

One of the better run post offices in Morris County. Usually more than one person behind the counter so rarely any line. Decent parking outside. You can drop packages inside in the receptacle which is nice if you already paid for the postage. read more

I read an old review that specifically cited Gwen. I agree she is a truly horrible human being. She goes out of her way to be unbelievably rude to many customers, including myself. Sadly, a new, younger employee, Fiorella (maybe misspelled), is following in Gwen's footsteps. Fiorella appears to be perpetually unhappy and treats customers with a laconic rudeness as if she is attempting to spread her bad attitude. "Big" Jim is a joy. So was Gladys who recently retired. This pair is the antithesis of Gwen & Fiorella. I have given a one-star rating because Gwen & Fiorella's ugliness overwhelm Jim's kindness. The parking is currently great now that the movie theatre is out of business. But when that space is redeveloped, the parking will, once again, be difficult -- likely more difficult than ever. I always prefer to drive an extra mile to the Convent Station post office because their employees (Patty, Chris & Jason) are tremendously friendly. The waiting time at Madison is generally great, but I find this is the case at most village post offices in this era of electronic communication. I truly hope the Postmaster at Madison will demand a better attitude from both Gwen and Fiorella, but I doubt this will ever happen. I actually complained about Gwen on one occasion and her attitude got poorer. What can you do with civil service employees who are lousy? Not much. One time, Gwen refused to stamp an envelope "Do Not Bend" -- the "Do Not Bend" stamp was on her counter a few inches from her hand -- she claimed the flimsy Flat Rate envelope could not be bent. When I informed other workers at the post office, they said the envelope could be bent and merely smiled and replied: "That's Gwen." The Madison post office stays open until 6pm on weekdays which is better than most post offices in the area. That's the best quality. read more

Service counters are oddly far apart in this old post office, good hours but no automatic postage machine. Clerks were friendly and helpful, but a little freaked out that I took a picture for yelp lol. Lots of p.o. boxes inside too. read more

The post office is never an enjoyable trip but should never leave such an ill taste in one's mouth as Gwen with Madison NJ post office left me. I watched a man wait in line for his turn, when he went up she rudely dismissed him telling him the item he needed was on the table behind him. I was shocked at her condescending demeanor toward him that I decided to put a big smile on and see if I could get a different Reaction (maybe that man was rude too & I missed something). I said where I wanted to send my package and was told that I need to address it (the address was on the box already) so I asked where to get to proper address sticker. Right hand barely holder up her head at 11am and points with her left to a large open area with 2 tables & all the PO Boxes. I ask for clarification to ensure I do not have to get in & out of line again she told me it's there or I could go home. That's when she reflicked her wrists and loudly called next. I thought a condescending answer was poor for the man in front of me but at least he received a verbal response! In will gladly drive 10min further to visit Florham Park PO in the future.
