Normally I dread the post office and avoid it at all cost. I would even prefer to pay more than twice as much just to mail packages from ups or FedEx. However, I recently found out that if you are strategic with which US post office you choose to visit you will be pleasantly surprised. When I arrived there was plenty of parking. Which again, is rare at other post offices. I went inside and there were 3 employees helping 3 customers but no one in line. So I grabbed my packaging folder and waited. Within 5 minutes or so one of the employees was ready for me! Moe was my postal worker and he was amazing. Super friendly and informative. He explained everything to me and in the end helped me spend only 5 bucks to package and ship my item. After another 5 minutes I was done! Great experience. Will definitely be coming here for any other mail service needs. Even the customers were friendly and knew what they were doing. I'm sure if there was a line it would have moved fast! read more

I am a paying customer for a PO Box for 37+ years at 92661. It is incumbent upon the USPS to provide access to customer postal boxes 24Hours a day. The 92661 Postal Station is now using the excuse of some vandalism inside to prevent daily access to customers beyond 1600 Hours until 0900Hours, and 44 hours of the weekend. Customers' 24/7 access to their USPS mailbox need to be reinstated immediately. read more

Too bad this location is the regional office for my address. They never deliver packages to the door, instead send a massage "no access to the delivery address" when our door is wide open during our business hours with the camera at the door. We have several recorded videos of the days we didn't get our packages delivered. I want to believe not all, but some of their mail carriers are WAY TOO LAZY and doesn't care much about people's mails and time. read more

Oh my god I dread this place. Employee #11 who sounds A LOT like the "Sally" mentioned in other comments was pissed at me for asking questions about insurance. She would inly point and grunt as answers. I had a bad feeling about her and sure enough they lost my package. #11 used the same tracking number for the two packages And the first one, filled with electronics didn't track. Can't find it. Can't get paid since it will never track as "delivered". I tried to explain this to the branch manager but she got pissed also. Going back tomorrow. If they can't help me the Regional Manager will. Everyone who works here are so nice and kind and helpful except SALLY. why is she ANGRY and GRUMPY all the time? All the time. I'm not exaggerating. I have a small business so I use USPS service really often, and every time I visit l hope to god Sally won't take care of my packages... she kind of ruins my mood for like 5 minutes after the visit. What did I do? Happened so many times, I feel that I should leave a review here. I just visited again and I couldn't understand what I was seeing on the screen so I said "I'm sorry, I don't understand" and she was MAD, that I didn't get it at the first time. She has such a soft tiny quiet voice. She finally spoke a little louder (still hard to hear) "2 day or 3 day???!" Ah man. I felt so bad she was so angry. Her face is so obvious, soooooo easy to read. worst post office i've ever been to. They lost my package twice, and have given me no help as to where my package still currently is. i ordered in early May, it is now July and I still have yet to receive it. I went in to simply pick it up last week because i missed the delivery of course and received no help. the lady spent about 2 minutes looking for it in the back and told me she couldn't find it, then proceeded to tell me to call back at 5/5:30, little did i know that's closing time:))) So i scheduled a redelivery that was supposed to be here days ago but still no package. don't bother calling either because i promise you they won't answer. I've been here a few times at different times/days and it can be hit or miss whether or not it's crowded. The workers at the front are not exactly the nicest or the most helpful compared with other USPS offices I've been to. Also, last time I went, the guy who was expediting the line (though he may have been trying to be humorous), directed me to the drop-off bin, saying "come on, make my line shorter...". That being said, this office also has a couple of self-checkout kiosks and a drop-off bin at the front for those who can use them. read more

This USPS location boasts an incredibly old school vibe. The area around it isn't too hectic or busy, so getting in and out of the lot is a breeze. There wasn't much of a wait when I arrived here (so I assume the postal workers are swifter and more efficient than most other locations). WORST Post Office on the planet. All the sudden, our neighborhood has not been getting mail until 8 pm or later. One night this week, it never came. Last night, it was delivered at 9:30 pm. I never complain, but this absolutely needed to be addressed. None of my neighbors want to call because they don't want to make the service worse. (Is that possible?) I called 16 times this morning and got disconnected each time. On my 17th call, I was immediately placed on hold for 59 minutes. While I was holding, I finally called from another phone. I think a person answered, never asked for my address or neighborhood... but she combatively "explained" they may need to hire someone new, and reassured me that at least I'm getting my mail... I thanked her for her incredible assistance. That's what's interesting about the post office. There really isn't an option, so we all need to extend a little grace with the process. However... providing consistently poor service, or not providing any at all, and telling the "customer" there's nothing to complain about, isn't remotely acceptable. Save your time. Save your sanity. Go ANYPLACE else. Or employ a carrier pigeon. It would be more reliable. read more

Absolutely the worst service, management and delivery people. Just pure laziness. I moved, correctly filed for mail forwarding and they still delivered my package to the wrong/old address. They leave a notice for me to schedule redelivery, but my new address isn't accepted. No option to intercept the package, so I've called the local office to find it so I can simply pick it up myself. ONE WEEK I've been calling them every day, the manager just does not answer when they page him. He also doesn't return any calls. So my package is set to be returned to sender tomorrow and I've done everything I can do to retrieve it. No one will help me -- it's absolutely ridiculous. Also, the drivers just don't even follow delivery instructions. I live in a complex where packages MUST be left in our parcel lockers. USPS doesn't care, they leave your packages in front of your door to be stolen. I even have a sign on my front door saying DO NOT LEAVE PACKAGES THEY WILL BE STOLEN. and they still leave it. So, last Friday I was very happy with this Post Office. I am sending out wedding invitations so I wanted to ensure I have the correct postage and everything. I took one invitation to the Post Office by UCI and she quoted me the wrong postage (98 cents). I went here because I had a feeling it was wrong, and there was a very helpful lady who explained the postage ($1.28) and why it is non-machinable (white calligraphy ink, rigid, etc. She helped me find the right $1.30 stamps and I thought this was a better post office so I came back this following Monday to drop them off. I asked an employee if I needed to hand-cancel them since they are non-machinable and he just kept telling me that they are machineable and they will go through the machine. I told him everything the other lady told me so either I now overpaid in postage or they will get messed up going through the machine. I don't understand why there isn't one firm answer for everyone at the Post Office as to what postage is, etc. Super frustrating and just hoping my invitations make it! read more

Every time I order a package online they NEVER deliver it. I have had to go on a wild hunt for my packages about 100 times!!! I am so sick of it and if I could choose to not have them deliver my packages I would! I constantly have to go back to the post office and say "they did not drop my package off at my door", and then they tell me "it's not here and its probably out for delivery today", and then they still do not deliver it. Then I have to to go back and then they have to re-search for it because they just do not even try or care. They could easily put some of my packages in the mail box. If I do not find my package quick enough they send it back to the sender. I do not usually write reviews but I am soo over how I have to go searching for my packages all the time. I know what you are thinking..."Donald has gone completely loco...four stars for the USPS...crazy"! Well, maybe that's true...but this might be the post office that other post offices need to be measured by! The Beautiful Carin and I rolled up to the post office at about 4:00 pm today with around 30 packages to send to various and sundry relatives around the good old US of A. Sure, we could have gone the UPS route, but what fun would that be? At the post office, we normally get to: - Stand in line with our fellow xMas celebrants for long enough to get to know all about their xMas plans, their entire family and their personal hygiene (or lack thereof); - Moan loudly about the 2 postal clerks available to service the line 50 people deep; - Make loud (and snide) comments about "snail mail", USPS layoffs, USPS "efficiency", and generally laugh about the state of affairs at the USPS! I didn't get to engage in my normal postal related snarkiness today. Every customer service desk was well stocked with competent and pleasant USPS clerks, the line moved with surprising vigor (we didn't get to know anybody in the line), and we were in and out of the post office in under 10 minutes and under $200 in shipping costs (and with a friendly "Merry Christmas" and a wave, to boot)! They told us that our packages would arrive at the various destinations by Friday or Saturday...plenty of time for nieces and nephews to wonder what their Angelic Auntie Carin and Curmudgeonly Uncle Donald had gotten them for xMas! My heart must have grown 3 sizes today (don't get too happy for me...enlargement of the heart is a serious medical problem...it will probably cost me a ton), although I'll probably be back to my normal state by morning. Nevertheless, I really have to applaud this particular postal outpost for having their act together and for making the season a little brighter...and less stressful! I might even to refrain from using the phrase "snail mail"...at least until after the first of the year. read more

I always go in prior to their opening to use the "outside" self-service kiosk and more than half of the time in the past 6 months, it is not working. What is the point of it being there to use after hours if it will not work. Arrived at 7:00am this morning to use the kiosk to mail a package and it was again not working. Had to sit in my car for a half hour (they open at 7:30am on Mondays) to have someone help me. Employees are nice, but I'd rather use the kiosk. I tend to get in and out more quickly. read more

I dont really have anything good to say about this post office except for the fact that they have nice PO boxes that are a good price. I like going to their automatic machine that is right outside the double doors to be helped by an employee because all of their employees are flat out rude. Lately their automatic machine has been incredibly glitchy, and only works half the time I try to use it. Last time I was there I noticed that there were automatic machines in the post office now, so I went to go use them and then I didnt see the bin to put by package in after I was done processing it, so I walked up to the counter and asked the lady if she could take the box because I didnt see the bin to put them in after. She rudely responded BLUE BIN. Then I nicely said I don't see it out right now can you just take this one? and she didn't take it. So I walked outside and just put it in the mail bin right outside their room. Way to make me feel uncomfortable. I refuse to be helped by the employees there any more. Make the drive somewhere else.. I have had multiple rude employee experiences there in the four years I keep mistakingly going there.. read more

I am so impressed by the customer service here. I had an issue with a package that was attempted delivery when my office was closed. For some reason they never tried to deliver the package again and it was at this facility. I called and spoke to the carrier supervisor, Jerry. He quickly located my package and offered to personally deliver it. Within 10 minutes he had my package delivered. I can't thank him enough for providing such great service. read more

As an institution at large, the USPS seems so frequently to live with a much maligned reputation that's become an oft-spoofed cliché in American society: from the disgruntled-employee stereotype (i.e "going postal" as a recognized turn of phrase); to claims regarding supposed unreliability of service; and to the politically loaded notions of a federal bureaucratic nightmare run amuck at taxpayers' expense; and so on and so forth... Absolutely -- like much in our country's governing dialogue these days -- there exists a lot of fraught history, partisan theatrics, and straight-up myth to unpack when analyzing all this generalized perception... BUT I'm not writing here today to do all that. What I do want to discuss is my personal experience with the local USPS service I receive in Newport Beach, both at this physical location itself and through the Postal-Carrier employees who use this PO as home base. Despite the mixed reviews from others, I'm very comfortable giving a full 5-star rating to Newport's major postal hub in question here... first though, some personal background: over the last couple years, I've begun selling and buying items on eBay fairly routinely, and in doing so, learned quickly that USPS generally offers the most affordable and convenient means to both ship and receive packages. Their Flat Rate Priority products are a true boon to my ever-growing eBay-seller ambitions. USPS offers free packaging supplies to customers utilizing these services, and they can be ordered online with ease or picked up in person at most Post Offices (this Newport location is always well stocked with these supplies; one simply needs to enter the building and browse the racks around the queueing area to take as many of the free envelopes/boxes needed). Having sold hundreds of items at this point and then shipped them via USPS, I've not once faced a single issue or customer complaint about item arrival or transit time, even during the holiday-season rush. When necessary, for purposes of expediting a shipment, I can even drop by this location, quickly ask a clerk where to leave a box in order to guarantee the fastest departure (without having to wait in line -- if you're polite, brief, and straightforward about it), and then go on with my day knowing the item is well taken care of by this PO's staff. However, what I'm most appreciative of regarding Newport's local Postal Service are its mail carriers. My regular mailman (92663 route at Balboa Peninsula serving 42nd street or so and up, between River Ave and Seashore Dr.) is a consummate professional who knows his route well and goes the extra mile when either making deliveries or picking up packages. Reliable and kind, he's always willing to be flagged down on the street (when safe) to accept outgoing packages or handoff any incoming items I'm chomping at the bit to receive. I know he's busy and don't want to keep him from timely deliveries for others, but my mailman is great at quickly recognizing who I am, which packages are destined for me, and knowing where they're stowed in his well-organized truck -- all resulting in an efficient exchange and a very happy USPS customer! USPS is undeserving of a lot of the flack it receives, and if ever there were a branch undercutting such negative notions, this PO would certainly be a fine example. Quick and efficient, along with a kind and caring attitude, putting customers first, they deserve recognition here. And let me again emphasize my absolute appreciation for my regular mailman who makes his rounds with an alacrity and professionalism that's unparalleled. I hope he's able to stay on my route for as long as I'm around! USPS and its employees are part of a worthwhile endeavor for our government to continue supporting. Our mail system isn't always perfect, but it's darn near close, especially here in Newport. To all the haters--quick to Yelp about that time you had to wait a few extra minutes in line at this location--take a step back and really think about everything USPS does for you in our great city at a really affordable price, and all with an abundance of options/features (like realtime tracking and other electronic integration)--and most of all true reliability, which increases by the day! Whoever heard of reviewing a post office? By its very definition, these places are usually sources of major pain. However, my impression has definitely been changed. When I call, they actually pick up the phone. In fact, last week when I called to inquire about a package and didn't have the tracking number, one of their representatives not only picked up the phone 15 minutes before they were open, but was also able to give me full details about the package within 5 minutes. I've never had an issue using this USPS location (never a lost package). They're super slow during their busy hours in the afternoon which is expected. Some of the employees are helpful and finding you the cheapest shopping rate. One star was for the time a guy rushed me at one of the shipping machines and I ended up paying for priority shipping when I didn't want that....other star lost goes to the lady who works there that told me a package that was going to Fullerton would take 2 weeks to get there...this whole time I thought it would only take 1-2 days since it's in the state of CA for goodness sake! The older guy who works there told me I should have gone back to him so he could ship it instead of paying extra for unnecessary expedited shipping.
