Just did passport renewal for my kids yesterday. Probably due to it being last day of summer holidays for schools, the cutoff to be processed that day was like 9:15 am. Be there early as its first come first served and they can only see about 30 applications in a day. And also note they begin processing around 9:25, so have all applicants be there by that time. Yesterday the first 9 people in line all had their kids at home awaiting opening time and the 10th person was seen first. Don't staple your photos yourself they will do it. Person doing processing was very pleasant and nice given she has to basically fill application after application all day long. read more

Today I got screwed again. This time from Lily. I had three really small brown envelopes going to Germany. But they were thicker then 3/4 inch so it goes as package. (Stupid rule... a book is thicker then 3/4 inch) So I weighted them before I went. 4.2, 5.5 and 6.5 oz. Each one should be $12.75. What a rip off. But the 6.5 oz she weighted twice, because she had an issue with the computer. So I paid $16.75 for my 6.5 oz envelope. Overpaid her by $4.00, and I didn't check the receipt until I was home. Never happens again. From this time on I will look on their finger and double check my receipt before I'm leaving. Is this how the post office makes up for deficits.? Overcharge customer!! read more

In all my years of dealing with a US Postal Service I have encountered nothing but excellent service, that was until I moved to Pleasanton and had to deal with the Pleasanton Post office. This post office has poor customer service and morale. My mail often gets delivered to the street over from me with the same numerical address, but different street name. Finally I was forced to call Senator Feinstein's office and had to get her staff involved to resolve my delivery issues. The impact of the call, for the first time I received all of my mail, lasted about a year before they went back to their ways. You can complain all you want but no one there cares. And as others have said they can be very rude. I moved from this address last month and as I expect no matter how many times I call, writer letters or use the US Postal's on line service for mail forwarding no luck. read more

This is specific to the passport process. As a mailbox and for retail service, this post office is crowded and slow but fine. On the website and by phone, the passport hours are 10am - 3pm, no appointments. When you actually get there, though, the employee tells you the real process is: 1. Show up at 7:30am. (The post office is not open for business yet, but you should wait in line.) 2. At 9:30am, they start processing. Not 10am. By 10am, they are, "not taking any more people today". They will only help 28 people per day, so if you are #29 in line, go home. If this is the way they do business, I wish they would put it on the website, or educate the workers so they can inform the public who call in. read more

Granted I went here on a Friday at 11am, there was only 1 person in line and I didn't have to wait at all before being addressed. This was the 1st time I applied for a passport. The lady took my picture well in 1 shot, and promptly checked everything. I was out of there in about 10 minutes. She was also kind and very informative. My visit here was pleasant (assuming it's not rush hour) and I'm very happy to be living near this post office. read more

I have lived in Pleasanton for 23 years. The reason I am writing a review about Pleasanton Post Office is because one of the clerks "Rita" is always in such a hurry and can be rude and I'm not sure she's aware! My mother is handicap, severe arthritis and walks very slow with a walker. She was next in line and I was there to help her, Rita was the next clerk open and Rita starts leaning her head over the counter and loudly saying to my mother "CAN I HELP YOU"????? over and over and over! My mom was trying her best to get to her and I had to ask Rita to please wait, she's coming as fast as she can! WTH? My mother was there because she got a package that she was returning and I took it in and Rita waited on me and wrote on the box "return to sender" and told me VERY MATTER OF FACTLY (as per usual) that is all I had to do. Well............. the package was re-delivered to my mom AGAIN! so that is why we were there AGAIN..we told her what happened and she told us that we had to "highlight" the return to sender writing so they can see it. I told her that SHE was the one who wrote it!!! She ignored not answering. I mail international packages at times and she waited on me a few times (yay me) she is always so rushed and looking over my customs form that I filled out, told me that I had to add my phone number and I had my email. The form said "email OR phone number"...she claims they needed both. I feel like I'm having my DMV test graded when she waits on me! The woman isn't happy unless she is finding something wrong! I know she's been there since the beginning of time and "knows it all" but she needs to learn common courtesy for the elderly and handicap! Maybe it's time ole Rita retires????? I came in to apply for my childs passport we got there around 12:30 and waited for over an hour for the lady who processes the passport to finish with a customer and take her break. We were first in line and another lady came in behind me waiting for about 20mins. Fyi; no one said anything about a list that we should write our name in, they just told us to line up underneath the passport sign. I have all my paper work and document ready. Also, the "lady" would make many excuses and find excuses not to serve you because she doesn't want to serve you, she picks out the people she like to serve. That processing agent completely turned to the lady behind me passing me stating that I needed to redo the first page. She took in the lady behind me first completely dismissing me. This was soooo damn unproffesional and very disappointing. I waited for over an hour just to get passed by who waited only 20mins after me. Wow! No appointment, no list, just because she doesn't like the way you look. I will totally not come here ever again. Total discrimination, I felt like that was racist. read more

After being directed here because my question couldn't be answered at another office, I was greeted with a smile and had my question answered (having mail forwarded to another state without yet having a permanent address) in a jiffy with no problem. Ughhhhhh! Man, are these people RUDE! If you think the DMV is the worst place to go, then you are WRONG! These people do not give two sh**s about anybody. I had a complaint against the "barely" English speaking, rude person that was helping me. The manager came by and was 10x more rude and basically told me to go pound sand. Unfortunately, I am very familiar with Andrew, Rita, and Gloria. For those of you who are unaware, Pleasanton is being plagued with mail thefts all over town. On December 1, our HOA community mailbox was broken into and outgoing mail was stolen, compromising my identity. A police report and an identity theft report was filed by myself. Because the mailbox is still not repaired (there is a pissing contest between the HOA and the USPS) we have to go daily to the post office during the busy holiday season to pick up our mail despite having a separate PO Box at this post office. Gloria said the house mail couldn't just be transferred to the P.O. Box that I have paid for since 2013. Instead, the mail would have to be held at the post office for 7 to 10 business days before it would be delivered to the P.O. Box... per policy said Gloria. The post office has absolutely no interest in solving these mail thefts. Six people ahead of me in line one day we're picking up mail because their mailboxes had been broken into months ago and still were not repaired. Sounds like an inside job to me. read more

I rarely have an issue with this post office. The very few times that I have it has been my own fault. The workers are always very kind and work very well under stress. As long as you come in prepared and with some common sense you will do fine! Be respectful and you will recieve respect in return. read more

I do not have any problem with the other people in the post office as such. I have been going there for years. But, clerk no. 16 was not ready to talk to me or help me out. She was rude in giving me a money order. Entered the wrong amount 3 times. And when I asked for an Air Waybill she plainly said USPS does not carry any Air Waybill. I went to another person on the counter and and that other person gave me one. It clearly shows that USPS does carry it but the clerk either did not know that or just did not want to help. Plus I tried to show her on my phone actually what I needed she refused to even look at it and talk about it. read more

I heard you can apply for the elusive "passport" here but I have come two days in a row and yet to see anyone come out with one.

I went here last week to get my passport renewed. The process is a bit frustrating for first timers (like me) as they have a weird modified appointment system (even though the website says walk-in). You basically have to show up early (some people come in at 3am!!!) to put your name on a list for an appointment for that day. Come early because appointments fill up before the passport office even opens for the day. I think they can only process 20-30 APPLICATIONS per day. I showed up around 9:30am and my appointment was around 2pm( earliest I could get). You can only sign up for appointment for that day. One you sign up, youre free to leave untill your time. The appointment itself was very pleasant. The lady was very nice and and efficient. My appointment only lasted 20 mins. I understand that this system helpful in that people arent waiting in line all day and people on the list are guaranteed an appointment even if the office has to run late but I wish thr post office would notify people of their this process on their website. People often have to come in multiple times because they are not aware of the system during their first visit. It wasn't so bad for me but its very frustrating for people who have families and need to take their kids out of school or time off of work. read more

The postal office is ok. I've rated it one star because sometimes over there they make things hard. Such as, passport service. It's just soo frustrating. There is this list you have to wait from 7 to 9 am and when a person comes out you'll need to sign a list. Then you got yourself an appointment most likely 8:50. After that you have to get this and that and the right colors it's just really tiring to do every five years. I am not sure what is happening with my mail the last three weeks. I recently signed up with Netflix and the delivery started upstanding, however that was a short lived plus. For the last four deliveries from netflix have been late and in one case I received two days later a plastic bag with just the cover no DVD. Today I went to get my mail which I should have received my DVD's and I have no mail at all. I used to brag on how much better the mail came thru USPS, however now I am looking at a different view. I really hope that these conditions turn around and get on track. read more

I had worst experience to renew my son's passport at this location (4300 Black Ave, Pleasanton, CA 94566). First you have to come early in the morning to just put your name so you may get afternoon appointment. Then you go back and come back again in the afternoon for appointment. Once you come back in the afternoon there were no clear instructions if you have to stand in the line outside to enter or they will call your name based on when you signed up. So if you come even 5 min late when they open after lunch, appointment is cancelled for you. In my case our son's birth certificate was laminated which they didn't accept (On the other hand when I went to other location in Sunol, they were happy to take that). So when they didn't accept laminated birth certificate, I went back home and got another copy (Which was not laminated). Once I came back they gave my appointment to someone else saying your turn is gone (So what's the point coming in the morning and booking appointment). It was very frustrating experience. I wish they can improve how they manage passport service at this location and start online appointment booking. Also employees there (Who handles passport service) need to be considerate and nice to customer. I am very disappointed with the service I got at this location and I hope this review will help improve passport service at this location. read more

I came to this post office to send out some letters from my employer. We use a company card to pay and have never had an issue before. As I explained to them that it was a company card therefore and obviously wouldn't match my ID even though I had my name badge with our company logo. They said there was nothing that they can too. So I asked them to cancel it and I will go elsewhere. One of the ladies there, I am not sure if she has a manager or what, April then told the employee there that was helping me to peel off the sticker and if the envelope gets damaged then oh well. I had a similar problem as another customer. I tried to mail a return package and the vendor gave me an address that had a name but no PO box, no address per se and no zip code. The clerk at the post office wouldn't accept the package. She wasn't rude, just a matter of fact, stating that the address that I had could not be recognized by the electronic system. She tried twice and the system would not accept the address. Instead of fighting the post office I called the vendor and explained that their address was unacceptable. I needed one with a PO box number with zip code or a regular address with zip code. The vendor's customer service got me a regular address and I returned to the same post office and had no further problems. I got my refund within a few weeks. Sometime one has to go outside the box and be logical in finding a solution. Fighting with the US post office doesn't work. AN ASIDE: I've been going to this post office for 2 years, since moving to Pleasanton. I've always had good service and the clerks, although busy, always responded to a "Good Morning, Good Afternoon or How Are You Doing?." It eases the stress. Attitude, makes a difference and most of the overworked and stressed clerks (in most cases) respond in kind Timing also makes a difference, go early when the doors open is best, if possible. Put the full address, wrap parcels well and most times it's a very short wait. Avoid the left line which is the passport line, there's almost always a long wait there. Have a good day.. read more

Horrible customer service. Had a package delivered here to a po box, tracking info told me it was there at 830am in the box. The older asian woman with a thick accent stared at me blankly after I explained that it should be in and continued to ask my home address-which has nothing to do with my package- and she could not tell me where it was, then brought the 'manager' out, or someone who worked in the back that had some authority over the packages. The manager raised her voice at me and kept repeating 'you need to have the person who's name is on the box put your name under it as well to recieve packages' even after I had told her multiple times my roommate who's name is also not on the box has been recieving packages for a year now. She could not explain that, and seemed to not even take that into consideration. The 'owner' of the po box was right outside and I told her I could get him inside right that moment to sign for me, and when I left the counter to go grab him, I came back inside to find the 'manager' lady had disappeared and the older woman had taken another customer. My first time ordering something to my house's po box. The manager (literally!) got mad at me for wondering where my package was, and personally told me she returned it to the sender the same morning it arrived! Very obvious that if one of these employees wakes up on the wrong side of the bed, your mail is at their mercy.. Definitely not coming back. It's really fun to have completely lost all faith in the postage system, while simultaneously still having to utilize them. I sent an item I had sold on ebay through the automated postage center. Weeks later the buyer asked where his item was. I gave an attendant my receipt and they told me that the reference number would not help them at all, and they could only tell me where it was if I had purchased insurance. Now myself and my buyer no longer have the item, and I had to pay back the $100 I had received for it. It feels like buying a sandwich and being asked why I didn't buy "don't spit in it" insurance after I had already eaten it. By the way, I opened a lost package claim, you can guess where that got me. read more

Terrible Post Office. Employees extremely rude and unhelpful. I tried to renew my passport here per Online instructions. I filled out paper work online and went to this Post Office around 11:30 AM--to be met by a note that stated only people whose name were on "the list" would be accepted for passport assistance. Nothing stated this online (although having an appointment is noted online for other Post Office passport offices: Sunol, Livermore, etc) nor were there any instructions as to how to get my name added to list. In order to find out, I waited in line with other people until I could speak with a passport agent. After a long wait, an employee came out to say Passport office was now closed and would reopen when PM appointments started, went back inside and closed the door. I then stood in regular waiting line to get info about being placed on list. Clerk at desk said she was not a Passport employee, she couldn't help me, and that I needed to come back at 7 AM and wait until 9AM opening of Post Office to have my name placed on the appointment list!! Totally rude and unacceptable behavior. I NEVER go to this Post Office unless I absolutely have to. read more

I recently sent three packages from this post office, two of which were going to the exact same address just different names.I paid $7.35 for one, $6.80 for another and last $7.35. My receipt stated Expected Delivery Day Thursday February 11. Interesting enough only one package of the two with the exact same addresses made it. The other was not delivered but 5 days after the "expected" date. I went in today 2-16-16 and they had a "manager" come out to talk to me. I would love to give you her name put being very unprofessional she did not identify herself at all. For all I know she could have been the janitor. Her excuse was that the one package had to go to "coding", something she said that has to do with the address. I tried to explain then why didn't that happen to the other package that was exactly the same other than the persons name. She had no explanation, she just kept repeating that it had to go to "coding". I guess anyone can work for the Postal Service and get promoted to manager. Maybe its time we stop paying these people so much and reduce the cost of stamps. read more

The supervisor should be fired. I had a change of address. I went to the office to check on the status due to missing mails. I was sent to the supervisor. He took my information and said he would check for me and walked away. Guess what? He never returned! I was waiting by the window for 30 minutes, and decided to talk to the front desk, who told me the supervisor was not at office. I guess he just went out for lunch without bothering to tell me not to wait for him, even though he knew that I was waiting by the window. I was outrageous! So I just left the post office that is in walking distance of our home. And I had the displeasure of being in Lily's line. I've had the displeasure of being in Lily's line before I believe she's probably worked at the post office for 20 years. And she has the personality of a rock. But that's okay what's not okay is her being blatantly rude abrasive and dismissive. Logging on to yell I see that this particular location has 123 reviews and it has a 2-star rating. I would be willing to bet money it has a 2-star rating because of Lily. The only reason I'm giving it a 4-star rating is because the lovely postal worker to the right of Lily name Teresa, is definitely a people person is very professional efficient empathetic and sympathetic and everything Lily is not. I needed to get some very important documentation to a government agency and Lily could not find the address even though I showed her the address of this government agency in Oakland on my phone. What should have been a 10 minute trip to the post office took an hour. I wouldn't have minded it taking an hour if Lily wouldn't have been so rude and abrasive. In the end Teresa worked it out for me which was very pleasant. Thank you Teresa for your help and your professionalism and without needing to know you personally just having an interaction with you you clearly have a kind soul. I don't know if I will ever go back to the post office that my family could walk to if we wanted to I may find a new one but if I do go back just for convenience I will never go through lilies line again. read more

I live on Ridgewood Road, down the street from post office. We have a new mail person whom is not able to do his job correctly or honestly. I've had at least 5 mis deliveries with packages in the past 2 weeks. I nicely let him know and he lied and said he never worked those days even though I had not told him what days it happened. I also have not received my bank statement. I will be contacting the Postmaster General as it seems no one at this post office is very honest . read more

Just because you work for a government does not mean you can treat customers poorly. Lily was very rude to me today. I walked in at 4:55 I was told that I needed to hurry up. If I told one of customers to hurry up because we are closing, I know for a fact that I would have a bad yelp review. When I said they were not being nice no one even apologized.
